#2 of Havoc State

Miles looked around for something. Anything. Anything at all.

Miles: How boring can this town get? Is anything still open around here?

Lena looked at Miles and then to her watch.

Lena: It's just about a half-past midnight. Of course everything's closed.

Miles: I know, but I'm so bored. There's gotta be SOMETHING around here... huh?

They walked past an old arcade with the doors swinging in the night breeze.

Miles: What's this place?

Lena: Don't you remember? It's the 1-Up Arcade. We used to go there when we were younger. It closed down about two years ago.

Miles: Oh yeah. Hey, since the doors are open...

He pointed to the swinging doors.

Miles: Let's go in!

Lena: Wait! We might get in trouble!!!

Miles ran inside the arcade before she could finish. She chased after him.

Lena: Ya know, this is illegal.

Miles: Aw, come on. The place doesn't have an owner anymore, and nobody's around to see us.

Lena: Why do I ever listen to you?

Miles: Cuz' I'm a genius!

Lena: (sigh) I guess it doesn't matter now that we're already in.

They played a few games for about an hour or so. Outside, the sky darkened even more, and thunder shook the ground.

Lena: Sounds like thunder. Maybe we should get back home.

Miles: Eh, its just rain. The forecast said there might be a little bit, but it will end soon. Even so, we probably wouldn't be able to make it home on foot before the rain starts anyway...

Lena: Maybe...

Rain started pouring down over the roofs of the buildings and onto the pavement road.

Miles: See? what did I tell ya? Just rain.

Lena: I don't know. Something doesn't feel right.

Miles: I don't feel anything wrong here.

As they kept playing, the rain kept pouring and soon the sky was jumping with lightning and quaking with thunder.

Miles: Woohoo!!! I'm almost to the high score!! Come on, just a little more...

Lena: Just don't get too carried away. I really think we need to get home before this storm gets to bad...

Miles: Come on! We never have any fun around here, and the one time we do, you have to worry about it!

Lena: Well...

Before she could finish that thought, a blast of lightning struck the arcade. The electricity flowed through the circuits. The lights overloaded and busted, and the electricity lit up the room as it flowed from the light sockets.

Lena:What's happening?! We gotta get outta here, Miles!

Miles:Quick! The door!

She ran towards the front door, only to find it fused shut. She tried to open it, but to no avail.

Lena:The door's jammed shut!

Miles:Keep looking for an exit! I'll try to find the back door!

But, before he could even take a step, lightning struck the arcade again. A surge of electricity ran out the wires, onto the floor, and through both of them, overcharging the entire arcade. The games blew to pieces, flinging metal and glass everywhere. Miles and Lena collapsed on the floor, overcome by the electricity...
