Story by LeafleeTheForest on SoFurry

, ,

Between the shadows that covered the cave a figure appeared, silently taking slow steps toward the figure of a woman sleeping, a large puddle of white liquid covering the ground around the sleeping figure. The dark figure walked closer to the sleeping one stepping across the while puddle, no ripples appearing across the surface as the dark form walked atop it soundlessly. The figure stopped next to the woman sleeping in the puddle, the faint glow of the moss covering the ceiling like constellations, finally revealing the form of the one watching the other. The light illuminating the slender female figure, a dark cloak wrapped over her shoulders, her expression seeming slightly detached from the scene in front of her like she was watching a show or a play. But even in the light the features of the woman were hard to distinguish seeming to be those of many different beings and none at the same time the face of a beautiful woman with warm brown skin, a faces which could not be even remotely called human appearing at the same time, that of a black scaled dragon and of a panther melding into each other and yet separate at the same time.

Many more features of different beings showing and yet not on her face, but one thing remained consistent through the non-features, the color of her eyes. They were a deep mesmerizing purple, almost a deep blue, seeming to almost glow in the dim light as she watched the nude figure before her. Stood still for a moment the cloaked woman then began to speak in a calm voice. Almost too calm. As if she again was far removed from the sight in front of her. "I'm sorry for this. But it must be done. It has already happened. Everything must happen. And so, I am sorry for what is going to happen. All that is left is to make it real. Perhaps it will take a while, perhaps less than I think. But it will eventually get better. You will be happy in the end. I promise you. But even with that promise... it will have to get worse before it can get better. So, I am sorry for what will happen and for what has already happened. But what must be done, must be done. And again, for that I am sorry." She paused her speaking for a few moments to watch the figure in front of her, her eyes softening slightly as she looked at her, a faint smile appearing on her face. "Tragedy is such a beautiful thing isn't it? The pain, the emotions, the beautiful hell of it all. I'm not sure if I miss it myself, after all I'm not sure if I can feel those things anymore. I can't tell if i'm missing out or if I made the right choice. I suppose it is true that you always want what you can't have, hmm? Is that why this is happening to you? Perhaps to let me see or watch the tragedy I can't have? Or is there another reason for it all? Was it all just a whim that I did this or something more? I don't know. How funny is that? The only one who knows everything about this world, past, present and future, can't tell you why it's happening at all. But do I really need to know why? Isn't it enough that it's happening at all? That life was given to this world purely borne of my own selfishness? That I want the story to play out? To see what has already happened, be done, to become reality? Do not worry about what will happen in this tragedy, for not all tragedies need an unhappy ending. Sometimes the things that happen in them are tragic enough for that. And of course I heard you when you called out for me, how could I not? After all, I'm always watching you aren't I? Don't think me some kind of creep though. It's just how this works."

The cloaked woman lifted her hand as she stopped talking, stretching it out to her side. A moment passed as she held it out before an axe flew into her outstretched hand, its grip landing firmly into her palm. Grabbing it, she held the double bladed axe up in front of her face, the black battle-axe seeming to glow slightly darker as if the soft illumination from the moss had dimmed around its blade. "This used to be mine, you know. You have in your possession a literal god-weapon. Not that you could use it to its full extent though I suppose. I think only I can do that, but I might change my mind about that later if the time is right though." As she said those words the silver stars inlaid on the blade began to glow brighter turning into pure white points of light even as the rest of the black blade grew darker, turning into a pure black surface, so that it looked like there was a hole in reality with several points of pure white shining from it. "No, you wouldn't be able to kill him with this even if you tried. After all, you couldn't damage one of his scales with it anyway. In your hands right now it might as well be just a regular axe." Sighing, the cloaked woman said, "Well, I suppose I've been here long enough haven't I? Perhaps it is time for me to get going." Space seeming to fold around the axe it disappeared from her hand as she returned it to where she grabbed it from, returning everything back to its original position so the sleeping woman wouldn't know anyone had ever been there. "Goodbye, and good luck. I suppose you'll need it, hmm?" And with those final words the figure disappeared between the shadows once again.
