Incomplete Life Portrait
I wanted to thank Tiberius Rings for writing and sharing Come to Dust and Burn Down the Tower. So I've decided to do so by writing a piece of literature based on Come to Dust and Burn Down the Tower. (I did ask Tiberius Rings for permission to do so, which I was fortunately granted, so thank you.)
I originally planned on writing a short story, but I felt like my idea for the short story was way too dark. But after listening to a song titled "Family Portrait" from a group named Epik High, I've decided to write a poem.
Do beware that the poem probably contains spoilers from Come to Dust and Burn Down the Tower. There's a possibility I've made errors with respect to the characters and the story, so my apologies.
Although I personally don't expect Simon to be writing a poem, Incomplete Life Portrait is written from Simon's perspective. (And although Come to Dust and Burn Down the Tower is written in US English when in Simon's point of view, I wrote Incomplete Life Portrait in UK English since Simon's originally from England.)
So time frame wise, I intended the poem to take place in the range of from the beginning of Come to Dust until Chapter 8 in Burn Down the Tower.
Anyway, I hope someone likes the poem in spite of me being a complete amateur at writing poems. Constructive criticisms are always welcome, so I can understand what I can approve on.
The Come to Dust and Burn Down the Tower characters in Incomplete Life Portrait are copyrighted to Tiberius Rings.
As far as I know
I have no one I can call family, but Alister, Professor Bensley
_And Alister
As far as I know_ _I have no one I can confide in, but Gideon, my dear friend
And my first love_ No matter what the world throws at me
I could rest assured everyone that I've hold dear
Has my back
But in a series of unfortunate events, I've encountered Spring Heeled Jack
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in the flesh
And one by one, I've lost almost everyone I've hold dear
Gideon, with a sudden love declaration, risked his life to protect me
And I've ran from my only home in London into the unknown New York City
Even with Rut and Fiz by my side
I wander around the unknown New York City as a scared, lost one
_As I look at us in the photo
As I look at us in the flesh
I've come to a realisation
In this cruel world, we've aged_
