The sound always put a smile on Jen's face.

"Mummyyyyyyy!"

She was winded as the small bundle of fur ploughed into her, almost knocking her to the ground.

"Rebecca sweet, please don't do that to mummy."

The little grey and black wolf gave her a little sheepish giggle.

"Sowy mummy, I didn't mean to hurt you."

Jen laughed slightly.

"It's ok sweetie, you didn't hurt me at all. Just be a little more careful next time."

"Ohkay mummy."

Jen smiled and lifted her daughter into her arms. Rebecca snuggled into her, nuzzling her neck with her nose.

"I'm hungry mummy."

Jen smiled and set her down, looking at her watch.

"Well it is time for lunch. What would you like?"

"Cookies!"

"You can't have cookies for lunch," Jen said with a giggle. "Maybe after lunch. How about some yummy sandwiches?"

Rebecca nodded, and eagerly followed her into the kitchen. Jen opened the cupboard and began pulling things out for their lunch. Then went to the fridge and got the rest of the need things. Bread, butter, cheese and several other things Rebecca wanted.

There was a scraping sound, as Rebecca pulled a tall stool over to the bench, and Jen helped her up onto it so she could watch her make the sandwiches. She helped too, passing some things as Jen asked her for them.

"Now remember sweetie, Knives are very sharp, and very dangerous. I don't want you to use one without either myself or your father here with you."

"Yes mummy, I promise."

Jen smiled and ruffled her daughters long brown hair. Then helping her down from the stool, she took their sandwiches outside into the back garden.

It was late spring, so the days were getting warmer. But at the moment the weather was pleasant enough for them to want to sit outside. Rebecca picked a shady spot under the tree in their backyard, and after sitting patiently for her mother to sit down too, began to hungrily munch on her sandwich. Jen ate a little more slowly, and stifled a small giggle as her daughter got a seed from the mustard stuck between her teeth.

"Now that was nicer than some cookies, wasn't it..." she looked down to see, Rebecca curled up asleep. Jen gave a small giggle. At least it was a warm, sunny afternoon. In fact, she could feel some of her more primitive instincts kicking in, causing her to yawn, and making her eyelids droop.

She slid over next to her daughter and rested her back on the tree, a hand lightly resting on Rebecca's shoulder.

"Come on daddy, I really need the potty!" the little white wolf eagerly jumped up and down, doing his little 'I need to go' dance as Logan got out of the car.

"Alright Bryce, I'm coming," He was a little tired from his day at work, to which he'd taken Bryce with him. He was happy that he could for once attend his works father-son day, but he hadn't expected how tired he would feel afterwards.

Bryce stood at the front door, jumping up and down trying to reach the door handle. Only three years old, he wasn't yet tall enough to reach the door handle, even when he jumped for it. Logan smiled and twisted the handle, Bryce bolting inside and up the stairs.

"Jen, we're home!"

He looked around the living room, then moved to the kitchen. He was a little confused. He couldn't find Jen anywhere. Even more worrying was that he couldn't find Rebecca either. He went to the sink and looked out into the backyard, then smiled.

Jen and little Rebecca lay under the big oak tree in their backyard. He could tell they were both asleep. He looked past them to the hills and mountains off in the distance. He was glad that they had decided to move. It hadn't been far, about two hours east of Eugene, to a more rural area. They'd agreed that they didn't want Bryce and Rebecca to grow up in the city, as much as Jen loved it. But she understood that the little one's needed more space than what they had back in Eugene.

"Where's mummy?"

Logan looked down to see Bryce clutching at his pants. He smiled and lifted him into his arms, then pointed out the window towards the tree. Bryce smiled and Logan put him down, moving towards the sliding door that lead outside. He smiled as his son rushed up to Jen, and stood next to her. He waited for Jen to do something, but she lay motionless for a minute.

Bryce tilted his head, confused as to why she wasn't responding. Suddenly, Jen leapt to her feet, scoping him up and spinning around with him in her arms. His squeal was enough to wake up Rebecca, who looked up a little startled at the sudden plethora of noise that greeted her ears. She looked over to the house. He previously small smile broadened to a large grin, and she got to her feet and ran over to him.

"Daddy!"

He smiled and put his hands on her head, tickling her ears as she wrapped her arms around his legs.

"Hey sweetie, have you and mummy had a good day without your brother and me?"

She nodded excitedly.

"Aunty came to visit this morning, and then me and mummy had a nap under the tree."

Logan smiled and lifted her into his arms as Jen walked over with Bryce in her arms. He leant over and gave her a kiss, much to the displeasure of both Bryce and Rebecca. Both of them tried to push Logan and Jen apart.

Logan smiled and kissed Rebecca on the head before ruffling his sons head fur. Bryce stuck his tongue out at Logan, who smiled back.

The weekend. It was both Logan and Jens favourite time of the week. Bryce and Rebecca were excited for this weekend, as they were going to go into the city for the day. It wasn't often that they got to go there, and they had been so excited, they'd struggled to sleep the previous night.

But there were several things Logan, and Jen needed to do other than take the twins to see the sights. It was lucky that the fashion company Jen worked for had been planning on opening a small boutique in a reasonably large town that was close to where they now lived, and they had offered the manager's position to her. She'd taken it, and a month after Bryce and Rebecca were born, they'd moved from their large home to their even large home that they now lived in.

Logan was also able to fall back on his medical degree and work in the local hospital, quitting his job at the medical engineering company.

Money had never been a problem for either of them, as Logan's former job paid well, and thanks to Jen's income, they had been able to put away a fair deal of money, allowing them to live quite comfortably.

Jen needed to deal with some issues the boutique was experiencing, which was the main reason they were going into the city. She said she would be no more than two hours, but that was still two hours Logan would have to entertain the twins, on his own.

"Bye Mummy!" the twins said in unison as Jen walked into the large building where she used to work a couple of years ago. Jen waved back before going through the doors.

"Ok you too, what would you like to do while mummy's in there?

They both shrugged their shoulders. Logan smiled and stood.

"How about we go to the zoo then? See all the animals?"

Both their ears pricked up, and their tails wagged.

"Yeah! The zoo! The zoo!"

***

The twins were silent for the majority of the time they were at the zoo. Amazed at seeing the wolves and foxes in two of the enclosures.

"Why do they look like us daddy?" Rebecca asked with curiosity. It was a very sensitive question, and Logan looked over to the human zookeeper.

"I'll tell you later, ok."

She pouted and looked back at the wolves, who were mostly asleep in the shade of the enclosures trees.

"Why are they all asleep?"

The zookeeper looked up at this question.

"I can field that for you if it's alright with dad."

Logan nodded, and the human crouched down in front of them.

"Ok, there all asleep now because it's a warm day. It's in their nature to sleep when it is warm, because like you, they have rather thick fur. When they move around because of their fur it's harder for them to keep cool. That's why during most of the day when it is warm they'll lie around doing as little as they can. They'll be more active when it cools down though."

Rebecca smiled at the human, and Logan shook his hand when he stood, and the twins gaze fixed back on the wolves.

"Good luck with later mate," he said when Logan released his hand. The keeper walked off and Logan's mobile choose that moment to ring.

"Hey sweets, how was the meeting, sort everything out? That's good... yeah, the zoo. Hehe, yeah they're loving it. Lunch, nah not yet, where do you wanna meet?"

He hung up a minute later, and lead the twin out of the zoo, walking down the city blocks back towards Jen's work. She waited outside and both the twins rushed up to her and hugged her legs.

"Did my little angles have fun at the zoo?"

They both grinned and told their mother about all the amazing animals they had seen at the zoo. Jen smiled and took them by the hands as they walked down the street.

"I had a little problem at the zoo Jen," Logan whispered in her ear. She gave him a curious look. "Rebecca asked why she looks like the wolves do."

Jens eyes widened slightly, but she refrained from making any noise.

"They're too young to have that conversation with them."

"I know, what should we do?"

"I don't know, hopefully she'll of forgotten about asking by the time we get home."

Logan smiled and gave her a kiss.

"Well then, we'll just have to make this a day she'll enjoy so much, she won't remember the zoo."

***

Logan and Jen tried to make the rest of the day as enjoyable for the twin as much as they could. They both knew that both Rebecca and Bryce we're far too young to tell them about their origins. When they were older they would, but right now they just wanted them to live care free.

"Looks like our plan worked sweet."

Jen turned around and looked at their children, who were asleep on the backseat of the car. She smiled.

"You know we're going to have to have that talk with them one day."

"I know, but we'll have it when they're older, more mature. Let's let them sleep for now."

Logan pulled the car up to their house. The twins didn't move. Logan had to smile at the way they were sleeping, Rebecca resting her head on Bryce's shoulder. He was glad neither of them cared about being a boy or girl. At that time they both liked the same things, which made caring for them easy.

Jen and Logan gently lifted them from the car and carried them inside, making sure not to wake them. It was difficult, but they managed to get them up stairs and into their beds without them stirring. Jen smiled and gave each one a kiss in the forehead, before she walked out and Logan closed the door behind her.

"Do you think we'll get that question again soon?"

Logan looked over to Jen from his dresser and sighed, then walked over to the bed and sat down next to her.

"I don't know honey, but let's hope we don't get it for a fair while."

Jen gave him a small smile and wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a passionate kiss. Logan put his hands to her cheeks and returned the kiss. She smiled and gave a little yawn, showing how tired she was. That day had really worn her out, Logan as well. They collapsed back on the bed, Jen snuggling into his arms, breathing deeply. Happy to be with the one person she loves.
