Barry, a hare is tasked with investigating an alpha pokemon after another scout goes missing.

Sorry not sorry too much pokemon on the brain so will be a lot of it the next couple of weeks likely. Might do a part 2 to this story next week.

Barry had been tasked with scouting out an area in the Alabaster Icelands after hearing about an alpha dragon pokemon wrecking havoc. Even with winter clothes and a typhlosion at his side, the hare had a hard time staying warm. It didn't help that a blizzard was starting to come in, which only made the cold worse and limited his vision. Barry wanted to return to camp but now he didn't even know where he was thanks to the storm. So now he had little choice but to try and find some natural shelter until the blizzard passed.

A sudden chill enveloped both Barry and the typhlosion, making them stop and turn around as they felt it go down to their bones. They could barely make out a small shadowy figure at the edge of the vision in the blizzard. Before they could even get ready to attack the wild pokemon, shards of ice came flying out of the blizzard. A couple hit both of them before they were able to dodge the rest. Barry tried to get on the offensive once more only for a shard of ice to strike his ankle. Falling down into his side, Barry covered his head with his arms as he saw a large shard getting thrown at his face. Typhlosion saved him at the last second as a jet of purple fire shot out in front of him, melting the ice before it could hit.

He was safe for now as typhlosion let out a torrent of flame at their attacker. The melted ice had splashed over his upper body and he could already feel it start to freeze his clothes and fur. This battle needed to end soon or else he very well might freeze to death. Getting back to his feet, Barry shivered heavily as he struggled to voice any commands for typhlosion. They luckily seemed to be handling the glaceon fine on their own at least. He watched as typhlosion's flamethrower went on for several seconds, chasing the ice eeveelution with it until they ran away.

Barry then fell against typhlosion, squeezing himself up against the pokemon to steal their warmth. Slowly feeling his strength return to him as the ice in his fur and clothes melted once more. He was still wet however and it would take time for typhlosion's passive body heat to dry him off. With the blizzard it would be nearly impossible to fully dry off as more snow landed on him then melted. Now more than ever, he needed to get out of this storm and dry himself off. It was too dangerous to just stand here in the middle of the blizzard when all the ice types were at their strongest.

"We need to find a cave, there's no way we can get to camp," Barry said to his typhlosion and got a nod in response. They slowly made their way through the blizzard, feeling the snow pile up as it soon went up to his thigh as he tried to walk through it. He'd soon have to walk behind typhlosion as they melted a path for them to walk before they were buried in the snow.

Eventually they found a very small cave which was luckily unoccupied, allowing typhlosion to finally get a break. Barry stripped himself of the wet clothes, putting them on the ground for typhlosion to sit on and hopefully dry them off before they continued. Now with only his underwear on, Barry snuggled up against his pokemon while the two of them looked outside. Part of him started to regret taking this job since he hated the cold but after the last member of the survey team went missing they made him go to finish the job and find the missing person. This place was completely unforgiving however and he wondered how the pearl clan survived here for so long.

Barry woke up when typhlosion stood up, making the hare fall over into the hard floor of the cave. He wasn't even sure when he had passed out but he was thankful for his pokemon keeping him warm throughout the night. Picking up his clothes, he couldn't feel any wet spots on them as they were quite toasty thanks to typhlosion. When he put them back on however he couldn't help but notice how they also had the fire pokemon's slightly scorched scent on them. Not that he minded but it was going to take some getting used to until he could wash them next.

The sun was out at least and Barry hoped it would stay that way while he ate the rations he had in his bag and gave typhlosion whatever berries he could. His food was a bit hard from the freezing temperatures but it was still edible at the very least. Typhlosion had an easier time with the partially frozen berries as they scorched them with their fire before chomping down. He took a peek outside while he ate to try and figure out where they were. Luckily they didn't go too off course but it was going to take a bit longer than he'd like to get to the alpha's territory.

"Get some rest buddy, I'll need you at full strength if we end up fighting this dragon pokemon," Barry said as he recalled typhlosion back to their ball. After stepping out of the cave, Barry grabbed staraptor's ball and brought them out. Taking a couple berries from his pack and tossing them up in the air for the bird to eat. Smiling to himself as she caught them mid air with ease. "We're looking for an alpha dragon pokemon so be careful while you scout the area." He then watched as she flew hundreds of feet up into the air and circled overhead.

It would take another few hours at least before they would reach their destination but it was entirely possible it would come to them with how territorial dragon pokemon could be. The closer they got to their territory the less pokemon there were overall. Whatever this pokemon was, they had scared off all but the strongest pokemon from the area. Barry had never gone up against something like this before but luckily his job was just to observe for now and find the missing person. Every part of his body was telling him to turn around and run back to town however.

He then saw a blue blur go across the sky in the distance and by the time it turned towards them it was too late. "Staraptor! Get back to..." Barry then watched as the blue blur with a hint of red now that he got a closer view of it hit his pokemon and both of them were gone. He turned around and looked up in the air to see if he could see any sign of his pokemon. Barry could feel his heart beat faster by the second as he felt true terror. There was no sign of their attacker or staraptor anywhere in the sky and every attempt to return his pokemon to her ball failed.

There was a rush of air behind him followed by a sudden thud with the ground shaking beneath him. Turning around Barry saw the alpha pokemon, a garchomp that was nearly three times his own height. The dragon pokemon towered over him as his eyes went down to garchomp's stomach and saw it squirming. He knew at that very moment that staraptor was in there, having been gulped down swiftly in midair. If he wasn't careful he was going to end up just like his pokemon in the next few seconds.

Reaching inside his satchel, Barry threw an ultra ball at the garchomp and watched as it was immediately batted away. A loud roar then erupted from garchomp's jaws as he angered them greatly. Reaching for his pokemon's balls, Barry sent out both his typhlosion and luxray. He knew he was at a severe disadvantage but hoped that between his two other pokemon that they'd pull through. "Infernal parade and ice fang," Barry yelled as he tried to get some safe distance so as to not be in the way of the battling pokemon.

Before either one of his pokemon could get their attacks off, the ground underneath all three of them erupted, making them all fall. The attack dealt a significant amount of damage to all three of them with his pokemon struggling to stand back up. Then the next attack came with the garchomp knocking luxray and Barry aside. Barry groaned out in pain from the two attacks and having the now fainted luxray pinning him down.

He could only watch as typhlosion tried to hold their own against the massive dragon. Typhlosion's fire barely even registered to the garchomp however and was more of an annoyance than anything else. Barry wanted to close his eyes and turn away but couldn't stop as he watched the large pokemon's jaws descend upon typhlosion. Half of typhlosion's body was gone just like that with the rest of him flailing about outside the jaws. Their purple flame could be seen within their neck, illuminating it as they took their first swallow. Barry watched as that flame traveled from the throat all the way down to the large belly, now stuffed full with two pokemon.

Part of him felt like he was going to have a heart attack with how fast he could feel his heart beating. He squirmed more underneath his luxray as garchomp turned their gaze over to him. The electric cat was too big for the hare to push off of him however and was powerless to do anything. Soon the dragon loomed over them both, blocking out the sun completely with their figure. "Please have mercy, we'll leave your territory." It pained him to abandon his other pokemon but maybe he'd get lucky and be able to flee this area with at least luxray.

Whether they understood him or not, Barry would never know but it quickly became clear that they would not be letting him go. Time seemed to slow down as he watched garchomp's jaws spread wide open and descend upon them both. Getting a good long look down the dragon's throat as he wondered what his other pokemon thought when they saw this. He wasn't grabbed by the jaws however, instead only the fainted luxray was for now.

With the last of his bravery and strength, Barry returned luxray to his ball and ran for as long as he could while the garchomp was caught by surprise. He could already sense the large pokemon getting closer to him once more however and threw luxray's ball with all of his strength. Barry watched the ball fly through the air as the jaws went over his head. The hare hoped that at the very least that luxray would survive this and succeed without him.

He resigned himself to his fate as he felt his head bump up against the back of garchomp's throat. If his typhlosion didn't stand a chance against this alpha pokemon, what chances did a weak trainer like himself even have. Barry felt his feet leave the ground as he went completely upside down. Unlike typhlosion the dragon seemed to be taking more time with him as he felt that tongue go over his back. His clothes getting tugged up until finally feeling the wet squishy flesh against his own fur.

It wouldn't take long for his instincts to take over and with a burst of energy start to squirm within his predator's jaws. Clothes catching on the teeth and tearing as he desperately tried to free himself. If anything it just made the alpha pokemon enjoy themselves more especially as the pesky clothes were torn off, letting them taste him directly. The tongue then slammed him against the roof of the mouth, knocking air out of his lungs and weakening him further. Gurgling groans echoed up from the throat and into his ears along with the smell of his pokemon stewing deep within.

A pained roar then echoed around his head as something attacked garchomp. It was too late to save him however as they then gulped on reflex, pulling him down into the throat. His pants got stuck on a tooth, delaying his descent for a moment before they got pulled off and he was swiftly sent down into the stomach. Inside, staraptor had already fainted with typhlosion struggling to even stay awake. "I'm sorry for being a terrible partner," Barry weakly said as the stomach walls felt like they were crushing them. "I'm doomed typhlosion but maybe I can save the two of you." His pack had made the journey down with him and he reached inside for their pokeballs. "With any luck they won't be able to digest these, so please go back to your ball." Staraptor went in without complaint seeing as they fainted but typhlosion immediately came back out. Part of Barry was glad to not be alone in his final moments but was also sad that typhlosion wouldn't at least have the chance to survive.

Whatever was fighting garchomp was doing some serious damage based on the dragon's cries and how much the belly was getting jostled. Part of him wanted to believe luxray pulled through somehow to get revenge but he knew they were in no shape to fight. There would be no heroic rescue in the end as he could feel garchomp suddenly take off and flee the fight. Well they might have won but Barry felt better thinking the garchomp lost and fled.

By the time garchomp landed, Barry was struggling to stay awake but he had to outlast typhlosion. Typhlosion's purple flames never hurt him even as they stayed lit against him for so long. Barry knew that it wouldn't be long now until typhlosion passed out though with how much the fire was dying down and flickering out. "Thanks for carrying me this far typhlosion," Barry said right before the pokemon passed out, slumping against him. Returning typhlosion to their ball, Barry put it back in the pack and sealed it as tightly as possible. He doubted that anything would survive garchomp's stomach but he wanted to believe he could save his team somehow.

Now he was alone with nothing but the gurgling groans of the stomach and the flesh squeezing in on him from all sides. Barry would hug the pack close to his chest while the stomach acid stringed all over his body. He could barely feel anything now with his whole body going numb. If he had to guess the last scout met the same fate and now he had to hope they didn't send anyone else. His body was getting weaker by the second and there wasn't anything he let himself drift to sleep one last time. Hoping he'd dream of better days before he was completely gone.
