I think that about covers everything other than that I need to know if the people who have characters in high school life would like a character in this particular story. With all that out of the way let's get this story on the road.

Hi, My name is Jason Wolf. I am, well I was, an orphan at The Gateway of Peace Orphanage, and I guess this is my story, but really I'm not even sure about how to explain it. My friend Daxter told me "Why don't you start where all good stories start? At the beginning, after all if you started our story anywhere else you'd miss a lot of things." I'd nodded my head as if I had known what he meant, but really I had no idea where the beginning was. Was it the start of the orphanage, the day I arrived, or the day everyone else arrived. Finally I settled on the day the orphanage opened since it was the day also the day I arrived at the orphanage. So I guess that's the beginning of this story, since up to that point the only things I remember were being taken care of by my uncle and my aunt who always seemed worried about me.

The orphanage opened on June 17 2050, the year that many people call the end of the world. I was the first person to be sent to the orphanage. My uncle and aunt couldn't take care of me, and seemed happy to be rid of me. I guess that was because of all the strange things that had been happening around me that year. It started with how whenever I walked into a room where the family's pets were they ran up to me and stood around me as if watching for any kind of danger. Then I was nearly hit by a truck, but an anthromorphic who didn't even know my family pushed me out of the way and asked me if I was alright when I told him yeah he smiled at me then got up and walked off as if nothing had happened. I stared after him then turned to see my relatives watching me. I waved to them and they walked inside with worried looks. I just figured I was lucky, since I'd somehow survived whatever had killed my parents when I was really young. The therapists my uncle and aunt took me to said I was repressing the memories, but I'm not so sure. After the incident with the anthro, my uncle and aunt tended to avoid me. I didn't care, I had the animals to keep me company and that had been all that mattered.

However a few days before the orphanage opened, I guess I somehow pushed them to far. I went outside and started exploring the area around their home with the animals, and ran into some trouble. A few guys who planned on rioting saw me walking past the alley they were sitting in, and assumed I'd overheard their plans. They came after me and my instincts kicked in, so I ran as fast and as far away as I could. I didn't realize until it was to late that I'd lead them out into the forest. They smiled darkly when they realized no one was around and I had to resist the urge to scream. I silently berated myself for being so stupid as to lead them to the one place I couldn't call for help. I glanced at the tops of the trees and suddenly yelled when something jumped over me and started growling at them. I blinked and while they were distracted ran to the place I'd considered home at the time. My relatives opened the door and I ran inside then hid under my bed. They walked in and asked me what happened then I explained everything, including the animal that saved me.

After that they stayed away from me until, the day the orphanage opened. They dropped me off at the steps after speaking with the person who ran the place then left. The orphanage took me in as their first orphan. While I was walking into the orphanage, the world was rioting against the different governments which it seemed had become more and more corrupt as time went on. I learned all of that from the head of the orphanage the day he told me that my aunt and uncle had died during the revolution. I'd just sat there and stared into his eyes with the same dull eyes I'd shown my aunt and uncle when they told me that they were sending me away. He smiled at me and said "I think they sent you here so you wouldn't be harmed. In all honesty I believe they truly cared about you." I nodded slowly then got up and walked to my room. My personal ward walked in and started talking to me as I stared at the cieling of my room with tears running down my cheeks. After a while she walked away and I let myself sink deeper into despair as it finally sank in that I had no family left.

After a few weeks more and more people started arriving at the orphanage. The oldest to arrive was my soon to be friend Daxter who we all called Dax. He walked over to me and said "Hey, you know if there are any good arcades in this stupid town." I sat up and looked at him trying to see why he was bugging me and he said "Just curious, seeing as how when I arrived here everything seemed shut down." I raised an eyebrow and he said "The head of this place told me you lived here before the orphanage opened, so I figured I'd ask you. Although he warned me you weren't the talkative type."

I glared at him and said softly "Go Away." He smiled and shook his head with a dangerous light in his eyes that just made me more annoyed with him. He smiled as if reading my emotions and stuck his tongue out at me then walked away. I may have been feeling depressed, but I decided that no one did that to me and tackled him. He turned around and the two of us rolled around trying to beat the crap out of each other until they pulled us apart. We both got dragged to the head's office and were reprimanded. Then he told me I'd be cleaning dishes and Daxter would be taking out the trash. When we got out of his office we both started laughing our butts off and grinned at each other. Daxter smiled slightly and I said "I'm sorry about earlier, it's just that nothing's been the same since my family passed away." He nodded in understanding and the two of us left it at that.

He grinned and said "So, do you know if there are any animals nearby?" I nodded slowly and stretched out then started for the back door. He followed me looking confused and I just grinned at him over my shoulder. He blinked and said "You aren't trying to play a trick on me, are you?" I shook my head and pushed open the door then motioned for him to head outside. He walked out and I followed him. He glanced at me and I motioned for him to sit down then walked into the middle of the yard and sat down. He started to ask what was going on, but I shushed him with a hand over his mouth then walked back out to the middle of the yard and started whistling softly. Dax sat there unable to speak as a dog walked up to me and a squirrel sat in the tree above us staring at me. I stopped and the squirrel ran away then the dog walked over and sat down staring at me. I opened my eyes and smiled at it then knelt down and scratched behind it's ears.

Dax walked over slowly and I smiled at him then said "I've had a way with animals since before I came here. It bothered my aunt and uncle, so I didn't use it much. However once I got here I didn't really have anyone near my age to hang out with so I started perfecting my talent. It was during one of my personal practice sessions that this dog arrived, ever since I've called her hope." I rubbed behind Hope's ears and she glanced at Dax with distrusting eyes. He blinked and I laughed then softly whispered in her ear "It's ok girl, this is Dax. He's one of my new friends and I think we can trust him." She nodded and I stepped back as Dax walked forward. She glanced at me then slowly sniffed his hand and sneezed. Dax looked at me confused and I just shrugged trying not to laugh. He slowly stood up and I said "Thanks for coming Hope, I'll bring some food out after dinner, for now you can do what you want." She nodded and walked off through the hole in the fence that I know hadn't been there before the first day she joined me.

Dax shook his head slowly and said "I can't believe you've kept her hidden from everyone else." I shrugged figuring it was no big deal and walked back to my room. Dax caught up to me halfway there and said "I'm not the only one who recently arrived, I'm just the most talkative. The others are Daven, and Rorak. Rorak is a fox anthro, and Daven's a wolf hybrid." I raised an eyebrow and he said "I'm guessing you don't know very much about what a hybrid is." I shook my head slowly and he explained "Hybrids are people with both human and anthro blood, they usually end up having a combination of human and animal features. However they appear more human than animal unlike anthros who seemed to be biped animals in the opinions of those who don't know better." I nodded I've always had a high opinion of anthos because of the incident with the truck. Dax yawned slightly and we continued on to my room. Dax glanced at me as we walked and asked "You remember anything about your parents?" I shook my head and glanced at him questioningly. He smiled slightly and said "I'm guessing you want to know about my parents." I nodded slowly and he sighed then said "My parents were good people who fought to stop the revolution from breaking into violence. It didn't work out and they ended up dying while protecting a hospital. I saw their corpses dragged along behind the mob." I stared at him and he laughed cynically his eyes getting darker. He said softly "That was seven years ago. I was seven at the time, and swore to myself that I'd never let anyone else I cared about be harmed again."

I gently patted him on the back. He smiled at me in thanks, then burst out laughing as I tripped over someone's basketball and landed on my face. Daxter stood there laughing as I slowly got to my feet then turned and faced Daxter about to yell. He pointed behind me and I turned around to see a young fox anthro standing there scuffling his feet and looking at the ground. I grinned at him and he glanced down at the ball then said softly "Sorry." I reached down and picked up the ball then ruffled his hair and he looked at me surprised. I smiled trying to be reassuring and he said "You're not mad at me?" I shook my head slowly then glanced at Daxter who was still chuckling. I growled softly and smacked him upside the head then turned to Rorak and showed him a big loopy grin. He seemed scared of my actions toward Dax but my loopy grin seemed to throw him off and he asked "I know Daxter, but who are you?"

I smiled slightly and said "I guess you can call me your new roommate. As for my name, it's Jason. I'm guessing your Rorak?" He nodded and I flicked his nose lightly then said "Next time take better care of your ball. Although it was probably somewhat my fault for not looking where I walked." He grinned realizing I wasn't really mad and I said "Welcome to Gates of Peace Orphanage. Why don't we go see our other guest then the three of us will eat and I guess the four of us can hang out." He nodded and led the two of us to our room while Daxter chewed me out about hitting him. I heard about one in every ten words because my eyes were distracted by Rorak's overly fluffy tail. Dax saw my eyes following Rorak's tail and flicked me on the back of the head throwing my mind off of it, and into what we were supposed to be doing. I glanced at him and smiled then pulled his head down and ducked as a book came flying at us.

I heard someone curse and yell "WHY THE HELL DID YOU DUCK!!!!!!?????!!!!!!!! I HAD A PERFECT SHOT, AND YOU RUINED IT!!!!! I SHOULD KICK YOUR PANSY LOVING ASS!!!" I glanced at Daxter and mouthed 'Daven?' He nodded and we dived into the room pulling Rorak in behind us. He ended up following Dax so I decided I'd give the two of them a chance to take down Daven by being a distraction. I rushed at him and nearly got a book in the face for my trouble, but it distracted him long enough for Dax and Rorak to tackled him from the left and pin him. I walked over and put my hand on the back of his neck then stared into his eyes. He stared back then prepared to spit at me and I instinctively punched him in the face. He blinked surprised then started laughing and said "Guess you aren't a pansy after all." He tried moving and I motioned the others off him, but didn't let go of his neck. He sat up and we stared at each other eye to eye. I growled softly and he said "I'm done, just let me go." I let go slowly and stepped back. He rubbed the back of his neck then stretched and said "Who are you?"

I shrugged and said "I'm your roommate Jason. The guys who tackled you were Rorak and Daxter." He nodded to each of us in turn then leaned back against his headboard. I stretched my arms above my head and said "I don't know about you guys but all of the trouble today has made me hungry." Daxter's stomach growled and he glanced at me sheepishly as if to say 'What I didn't realize I was that hungry.' Rorak burst out laughing and Daven shook his head trying to hide a slight smile. I grinned and said "I guess that settles it let's go eat." The others nodded and the four of us rushed to the kitchen. We ate with the owner of the orphange and everyone else watching us then the others went to relax while I washed the dishes. It took me about three hours, but when I was done Dax came over and hauled out the trash mumbling under his breath about the head of the orphanage and the other people in authority. I snickered and walked to the bathroom then took a much needed shower. After about ten minutes I got out and toweled off then headed to the room we were all sharing.

When I got there the head of the orphanage looked at me and said "Since we have so many rooms and so few people, I decided you should get your own room. The others will each be moved to their own room as time progresses. Do you have a problem with this, Jason?" I shook my head and he handed me my stuff then led me to one of the spare rooms. I tossed my stuff in the closet then plopped down on my new bed. I stared at the cieling as my mind wandered and everything from when I first arrived at the orphanage to changing rooms passed through my mind. I smiled slightly as sleep started to take hold and said softly "I don't know how life can get better, but I'll do everything I can to make sure it doesn't get worse." Then I passed out.

That was the beginning and the end of everything. I thought our group wouldn't get any bigger, but I was wrong. Just like how I was wrong about the four of us never having to worry about anything and about how I'd never leave the orphanage. However those are stories for another day.

To Be Continued.........................................

Hope you guys enjoyed this story as much as I enjoyed writing it. I decided I needed a break from everything and this just hit me while I was relaxing the other day. This doesn't mean I won't be working on high-school life, or that I don't consider my other stories important. It's just that I've got the urge to let my fingers work on something knew. See ya next upload no matter which story it is.
