The Hawthwaites Recruiter

Chapter 2

For Dreixes

By Draconicon

"...Well, least I ain't expelled."

Regina stared at her laptop screen, half-expecting an email to pop in on her student account right that moment to prove her wrong, but nothing happened. She waited for another few seconds, almost hoping for it, and not sure why. When it didn't happen, she sighed, her ears falling over her face as the tension oozed out of her.

"Ugh...why did I take that fucking deal?"

Well, at least that was easier to answer. She took the deal to keep her parents from finding out what she'd done. Hell, she took the deal to keep her siblings from finding out what she'd been doing. Her brothers would have been the first ones storming the campus looking for her, and it was even odds whether she would be found by one of the perverts rather than one of the ones that were looking to 'protect her reputation.' She rolled her eyes, her ears serving as blindfolds as she grumbled at her situation.

Sure, sure, sign up with the crazy cougar lady to be a stripper so you don't get thrown out of university. That's not going to blow in your face at all.

Leaning back in her chair, she relived that moment. From the second that scary-ass feline walked into the room until Regina left wrapped in nothing but a blanket, the night had been a blur. It was like going into heat, except that this time she was dealing with someone that knew how to wrap her around her little finger.

It felt weird. She wasn't sure if this was what being violated felt like - probably not, since this was still kinda hot - but it was weird.

But she had an agreement with the Society, whatever that actually was, and she had to keep it if she wanted to keep her dorm, her place in the university, and everything else that she still had left. She shook her head, pushing back from her desk and pulling her usual clothes out from her dresser.

Skirt, thigh-length. Blouse, busted buttons. Bra, sheer. Leggings, useless...

And no panties, of course. She doubted that anyone on campus got a thrill from seeing that anymore, considering the number of times that she'd allowed the wind to 'expose her' when she walked around, but hell, it was more comfortable without them these days, particularly with laundry day still a week off and all her other pairs used. Shaking her head, she pulled everything on, then turned to look in the floor-length mirror.

"Not bad, not bad...grungy, yeah, but not bad," Regina commented on herself.

The blouse had seen better days. It hung loose on her shoulders, a few wrinkles around the neckline that made it look a bit raggedy, more than it was. A few stains here and there from rushed dinners, and one that looked almost like a cum-stain. God, she wished; the boys had been really reluctant for all the times that she had tried to get their attention. That was just drool along the chest.

Skirt was better. Green to the white that she wore up top, it ran to just below the upper thigh. It wasn't quite the porno fantasy skirt that would rise up and show off her ass with the slightest lean, but it would come near to it if she bent all the way over. The front was never in danger of being exposed - more the pity - but it meant that she still kept to the campus dress code.

Her leggings ran down to her feet, splitting into a sort of stirrup-style leggings, leaving her ankle and her toes free. Her shoes were sturdy rather than fashionable, but she had yet to find anyone that could build high-heels for rabbits that could stand up to a hop, even a single one. It was a drastically poor situation for her, but it would have to do.

Ring ring.

Ring ring.

Ring ring.

Ring ring.

She grabbed her phone just before it went to voicemail, tapping the screen and pulling it to her ear. Regina barely got out a hello before -

"You are excused from classes for the day."

She sat up ramrod straight, biting her lips afterward as she realized just how violently she reacted to the cougar's purring voice. Shaking her head, she forced herself to relax, slouching almost past the point of it being comfortable in defiance of her initial reaction.

"Why?"

"Is that the tone that you really want to take with me, Ms. Hart?"

Clicking her teeth together in irritation, she bit off her immediate response. For all that she didn't like that haughty tone, she knew that she had to tread carefully. She was in the other woman's debt, after all, and who knew what was going to happen at the Society? Would she become Regina's pimp? Would this be something where she'd been lied to the whole time? Would she become some secret, magical whore?

Because something went on at that building. Something happened there that was far from normal.

Just go with it. She didn't lie about watching you go home.

Though that, too, had been more than slightly embarrassing. Having someone with their high-beams on right behind her the whole way, lighting up her silhouette for all and sundry to see, had been almost as embarrassing as the idea of walking home naked. The only thing that was better about that was that anyone that saw her had looked away, hurrying off to some safe corner. Either to spy on her or something else, she didn't know, but at least nobody had accosted her.

And then that look at the end of the walk. That stare, that slight licking around the mouth. Oh, she was going to be in trouble with this one, she could already tell.

"Ms. Hart."

"I'm still here."

"Good. Now, are you ready to be a good girl and listen?"

"Are you going to keep talking like you're going to laugh at me?"

"Oh, dear, dear. Are you hearing that? I would have thought that those ears meant you knew how to listen."

She bit down again, clenching her jaw to the point where she was half-sure that a tooth was going to crack. Cheap shots. Seriously cheap shots...and annoyingly effective.

"Alright. Fine. I'm listening."

"Good girl. Now, remember, you are supposed to come to the Society well-dressed. Do you still have the business card I gave you last night?"

"I don't think I could lose it."

"Then that's what you're doing with your morning."

"That's it?"

"Well, that, and coming around to the Society proper."

"What - today?"

"You should get started sooner than later, and this is the best time for it."

It was, and she knew that, but she hadn't expected her first day to come so soon. She had thought that, maybe, there'd be a week or so to get used to the idea. That she'd be able to think about it, but -

Who were you kidding? that little voice in her said, the same one that always came out when she got herself into the messes that got security so pissed at her and the boys so turned on. You know what you are. You know what she's got over you. This is gonna happen as fast as she can swing it.

It always sounded like some sort of street-tough, too. Something like a thug. Strange.

Regina cleared her throat, putting on something that resembled politeness. It was an act, and it hurt her throat to pitch her voice up, but she figured she might as well get some practice in.

"Very well, then. I will see to it that it is taken care of."

"HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Pulling her phone from her ear, Regina stared at her cell with eyes wide. The storm of laughter continued for seconds on end, ending with a wheeze that finally allowed her to bring her phone back to her ears.

"Excuse me, but what is so funny?" she asked, still pitching her voice up.

"Oh dear, dear, please...please stop...oh goodness, that was horrible..."

"What? What is -"

"HAHAHA!"

Another breakdown, another moment of utter insanity from the other end. Regina was gobsmacked. She knew that this wasn't the way that she normally talked, but she hadn't thought that it was that bad an imitation. Once more, she was forced to wait until the laughter died down before bringing the phone back to her ear.

"...Hello?"

"Oh goodness...oh god, that was...I needed that, dear. Thank you."

"What the hell was that?"

"I've just never heard such a bad attempt at an upper-class accent. Goodness, you were just sounding like some prim British maid on bad daytime TV."

"..."

"Go get your clothes, dear. I'll be waiting outside the Society."

Click.

Regina tossed her phone across the room, hearing it land on the bed as she grumbled to herself. So much for going out and seeing to a few affairs.

But hey, at least she got free clothes. Whatever they happened to be, at least they'd look better than the shit she had on.

"What...the fuck...is this shit?!"

She had asked the seamstress, she had left a message asking Diana the same thing, and now she was asking herself. The car windows were just blurred enough that nobody was going to see her dressed in that without being right beside her car, but at the same time, the rabbit couldn't help but hunch further and further into the driver's seat to try and hide her shame.

The dress was a goddamn fetish thing. Black silk and white lace covered her from her shoulders to her upper thighs, and white stockings ran down to prim and proper polished black shoes. Her white fur was just a shade darker than the lace - how the fuck that was possible, she didn't know - but it was still there, and the fringe of the lace ran along a neckline that made it look like she had breasts nearly twice the size that they actually were. Hell, she was half-sure that the dress was made with fucking weights there that it pushed up from below, always grinding on...on...

"Mmmph!"

She stomped the gas as the light turned green, rushing through the intersection and nearly hitting the car ahead of her. Of all the things to happen today, getting dressed up as some skimpy, sexy maid was not on the list of things that she had imagined.

The seamstress hadn't even leered at her while it was going on, not when she'd been naked for her measurements, not when she had been trying things on, not when she was looking at herself in the mirror and cursing up a storm. The mute old mouse had been completely silent and hadn't answered a thing, let alone offered any comfort or -

No, no, no more point in thinking of that. Think about what was ahead. The Society.

She pulled forward to the large building, spotting the cougar standing just outside. This time, Diana was wearing something rather different. Long black gloves ran from her fingertips to her upper arms, smooth and shining in the afternoon sun. Her dress was less 'French Maid' and more 'French Mistress', with a longer skirt that did nothing to show the shape of her legs but everything to show the width of her hips and the flare of her rump. She stood with her arms crossed, showing a bosom that would have gotten her kicked out of the university staff if anyone had been there to see it.

And yet...yet, despite that, she didn't have the same look as those fat bitches that she'd seen at the salon, or down at the clubs. She didn't have that look of an old woman trying to take something back. Instead, she looked like a fucking queen.

It was hot, and scary, and fucking weird.

Putting her rickety old thing in park just at the edge of the parking lot, well away from the entrance, she kicked the door open. Her dress almost did expose her this time, sliding up along her thighs almost up to her hips, showing off a lacy pair of panties that she had been forced to take from the seamstress. Dress code, it seemed, went all the way to that.

Just walk...just walk...

It took everything that she had to drag herself out of the car, and more to keep walking across the parking lot as if nothing was wrong. The entire way, she kept her eyes on the cougar, and felt that stare pulling her closer, closer, and closer still. There was a hunter's grin on the other woman's face, just enough fang showing to keep the rabbit's heart racing, just enough padding and velvet to keep her from feeling terrified.

And then, she was there. Diana reached out, the soft silk of the black glove cupping her chin. Regina gritted her teeth, trying to find some venom to spit, but all she could do was shiver as she looked the feline in the eye.

"Mm, you look fine in this, dear. Not quite as good as you might, just yet - there are things that you need to learn - but fine."

"Mmmph...this is humiliating."

"I saw your state of undress last night, dear. This is an improvement."

"This is just..."

"What?"

"Unnatural..."

"Heh...dear, that is precisely what we are. As unnatural as anything in a horror story...and twice as dangerous to the wrong man." Diana smiled. "Come with me. And brace yourself."

There was no need to tell her that twice. Just looking at the building made her consider leaving right then and there, and that wasn't just down to the sheer size of the wooden structure. For that matter, there was something disturbing enough just about that, considering that the exterior of all the other buildings on campus ranged from glass to concrete to stone. The fact that something was old enough to be made of wood, and was still standing, told her that there was something off about this place.

But there was more than that. There was something about it that just oozed some sort of...sensuality. There was something in the air, or the ground, or something. Regina wasn't an expert in this shit by any means, but she knew when something felt off, and this place felt off.

But there was no turning back now. She had to keep going forward, and she was led across the parking lot, towards the front door -

And just before they reached it, it hit her. She gasped, arching her back as she felt something settle over her, some kind of...presence, for lack of a better word. Something that made the dress she wore feel more natural, the ground more stable beneath her shined shoes, her walk more swaying, almost like she was on a ship without the need to have water around her. She felt the sway, the swish, the -

"The fuck?!"

She stopped stone cold, shaking her head as she felt the movement come to a stop. She took a step, and had to focus hard to keep from shaking her ass as she did. It was almost like it happened instinctively. Whipping her head back to her 'sponsor', she fixed the cougar with as firm a glare as she could. Unfortunately, it mostly melted when Diana turned to face her with that smug grin.

"Yes, dear?"

"What...what the hell..."

"I told you before, dear. This place protects us."

"It's making me walk...you know..."

"I know. Soon, you'll learn how to do it without the help, but for now, you need all the support you can get."

"I - that's a shitty thing to say."

"And you are a poor example of a woman, Ms. Hart. But don't worry. That will change. We will see to that."

"Hey. I'm a perfectly fine example of female liberation, thank you very much."

"There's a difference between being liberated and being controlled by your urges, dear. And we are going to teach you how to control them, instead."

The cougar curled her finger, and there was something to the gesture - and something to the feeling all around her - that made her follow. The rabbit gritted her teeth as she felt the exaggerated swaying of her hips continuing, knowing that there was little that she could do to stop it.

Instead, she forced herself to take a look at the interior of the building, as she had never had occasion to visit it before. Thankfully, it provided a wealth of distractions.

The first room was almost like some sort of entry hall or waiting room. There was a small bar off to the side, unstaffed for the moment, but with a collection of alcoholic beverages that ranged from the cheap to the absurd. Her eyes almost bugged out of their sockets as she saw that one of them was over $100 a shot, sputtering as she imagined the wealth that must come here. More than just the college boys, that was for fucking sure, if they were getting that much money from the booze alone.

They followed a wood-paneled hallway, adorned with portraits all along the passage. On one side were males, usually from the old-style of dress, looking like something out of the 18th or 19th century, and the early half of them at that. On the other side were females, and all of them were dressed in some combination of her attire and Diana's more sensual clothing. It was like looking at something out of a history book, and the women themselves ranged from looking demure and soft to looking more imperial than any monarch that she had ever heard of.

The hallway eventually spilled into a communal area, filled with four raised areas where tables were placed, and a central gathering passage. At the far end was a kitchen - closed - and a bar, which had four other women gathered around it. Two secretary birds that were sharing a drink at one end, a wolf MILF, and a surprisingly regal rat sat there, all dressed in the same black and white French gowns that she had to deal with. She had the shortest skirts of any of them, though oddly enough, the highest neckline; for all that she had complained about hers, at least it went down far enough to keep from exposing her nipples. The secretary birds looked like theirs were about to hop out of their dresses.

The only thing that unified them aside from their dresses, though, was the way that they sat. The younger of the two secretary birds had the most rough posture of the bunch of them, but even she had some sort of...class, for lack of a better word, when it came to the way that she posed herself. For a moment, Regina would have described it as something more akin to prissiness, like some girl that didn't know how to be comfortable with her body, but the more she watched, the more she realized that she had it the wrong way around. She was so comfortable with her body that she could do things with it, pose it so harshly and beautifully, that it should have broken her...and yet, she wasn't broken by it.

It was weird...disturbing...and kinda hot. Lots of things were feeling kinda hot.

Diana led her over, and the rat woman smiled as she turned on her stood. Despite the fact that she was clearly more casual than the others, the rat sat with her knees properly together rather than sprawled out the way that she could have done. She tilted back a little lace-lined hat, smiling as she curled a finger at an unseen barkeep.

"Damiane, so good to see you," the rat said.

"And you, Orianne," Diana said. They embraced briefly, with the rat letting loose the slightest of shivers as the cougar bit her ear, and then pulled back.

Regina, however, had questions. She pulled on the cougar's shoulder.

"I thought your name was -"

"Tut."

And then there was a fuzzy finger against her lips, stifling the words hiding behind her teeth. Her jaw dropped, the rabbit just staring at the cougar pulled her finger back. The other women looked at her, and then back to Damiane -

Regina blinked. Trying again. Da - no, it was Da - no, it was Damiane.

"...The fuck?" she muttered.

"Oh, my." Orianne chuckled. "Damiane, why do you challenge yourself so? Why can't you pick someone with a little bit more...talent?"

"My dear, if I went searching for talent, then she'd be getting the credit instead of me."

"Ah, always concerned with standing out, are we?"

"As concerned with you are for setting the gold standard, dear," Damiane - fuck, she hated this mental fuckery - said.

"Excuse me, but what the fuck is going on?!" Regina interrupted.

"Language," all five older women said at the same time. Even the younger secretary bird.

And just like that, she couldn't actually open her mouth. She strained to, of course, even going so far as to grab the edges of her muzzle to scream out her frustration, but it was like someone had wrapped invisible cord around her mouth and muzzle. Nothing wanted to work. All that she could do was stare straight ahead in silence.

And somehow, she wasn't afraid. Something pumped down on her, keeping her from feeling anything like fear. If anything, she felt like...like this was supposed to serve her right.

Fuck that. Fucking FUCK that.

As her enforced silence went on, Damiane sat down, smiling as she elegantly lifted one leg over the knee of the other, sitting with a surprising amount of glass for how much leg she was showing. She took her shotglass - something that had come from nowhere, as far as she could tell - and sipped at it slowly.

"Now...young lady...allow me to introduce you to a colleague of mine. This is Orianne, the keeper of the Book of Names, and - as I said - a keeper of the gold standard here. It will be up to her whether you actually reach the standard needed for an independent girl in the Society."

"..."

"You may speak now."

"Ugh. Finally." She grumbled, shaking her head as her mouth came unstuck. "Forget all that for a fucking - mmmph...mmmph..."

The cougar rolled her eyes slowly, and the rest of the women bit off a chuckle. Regina took a second to figure it out, but she did get it through her head. The older women around her had given her a half-clear order, to watch her language. So, apparently, she wasn't going to be able to speak if she swore.

Well, that eliminates half the stuff I can say...

She forced herself to stop thinking of swearing, and her mouth unglued itself again. She rubbed her jaw.

"Someone please tell me what in the...what is going on?" she managed to correct herself. "Because between the name stuff, the orders, and the walking - What? What about the walking?" Regina all but shrieked in exasperation as the other women groaned and covered their faces.

"Dear, dear, dear. Damiane, love, I know you like a challenge, but to pick someone that needs help with walking..." Orianne patted the cougar on the shoulder. "Isn't that being a bit too hard on yourself?"

"She will make it." Damiane smiled, sipping from her shotglass. "I will make sure of it."

There was just enough of a growling purr at the end of that that she felt a shiver running down her spine. Another rabbit instinct, she knew, but she had no doubt that her 'sponsor' was going to run her ragged. And that was if she was doing well. If she did poorly...well, she wasn't sure that bore thinking about.

Orianne shook her head, but the rat didn't question it further. Damiane, however, turned back to her.

"I suppose you are due an explanation. Sit down, dear."

Regina did as she was told, more out of want than command, which was a nice change. She still felt a pressure at her back to do what she was told, but at least she still could do what she wanted, so long as it aligned with what she was commanded to do by the older women. She sat down, trying to spread her legs, but the same pressure that had her walking all sultry-like had her sitting lady-like, too, something that irked her. Thankfully, Damiane was quick to explain.

"The Hawthwaites Society is a place that allows us to be safe as sensual women, my dear. In exchange for a little extra sensuality from time to time, it protects our identities. Our names in this place are different from what we'd call each other outside, but that protection only works as long as we never say our real name, never identify ourselves to each other. Otherwise, we'd be exposed for what we are."

"That's why we don't drink too much on the job, either," the wolf further down the bar muttered. "This place protects us pretty good, but doesn't keep you from doing something stupid."

"Yes, Sabine, as you found out recently." Damiane nodded. "But it also guides you if you're not so...knowledgeable...in the act as you should be. At least, for a while. It's my job to train you up, to help you understand the way that you are supposed to act here."

"...So, what, I'm supposed to be a...a good little French slut?"

"Hmmm, if that's what you want to be, but that's hardly your only option, dear," the cougar said, shaking her head. "You will learn the basics. Dance, social etiquette, serving skills, but you will also find areas to specialize in."

"Mmm, and perhaps we'll have another lovely dominatrix on our hands, Damiane," Orianne said, chuckling. "Perhaps our little rabbit will come to learn your style."

"Considering how she was found, Orianne, I doubt that. I doubt it very much. But one must ever be ready for a surprise."

She kept her mouth shut. Regina doubted that she would have that chance, but she imagined herself in the dress that her sponsor wore. The cougar's gown was a luscious one, one that demanded the attention of all and sundry. She could wear that thing, she was pretty sure. Didn't matter if her breasts were smaller. All that mattered was the attitude, and she was pretty sure that she could get that.

And then, everyone would look at me...

But what they'd do after that...well, she'd have to figure that part out. She opened her mouth to argue -

"But first, before we go any further, you will have to pick a name."

"...A name?" Regina asked.

"Indeed. Orianne?"

The hourglass-shaped rat reached around the counter, pulling out a book utterly slathered in gold leaf. It was as ostentatious and overdone as any overpriced bit of costume jewelry that she had ever seen, but it was somehow more real, too. She leaned in, almost feeling like it had hooked her by the nose and dragged her closer. Damiane took it, holding it in her lap and brushing the cover.

"This is the Book of Names. Accepted names for girls that work here," the cougar said. "You'll have to take on a work name, and that will be what we call you while you work -"

"How about Matilda?"

The wolf had a spit-take just around the corner, and Orianne looked like she had barely stopped herself from having a similar reaction. The secretary birds, tellingly, just laid their drinks down and sat up a little straighter.

Damiane shook her head.

"Dear. That is a name of glory around here, and you would have to work to earn that. And besides, until you are judged to have passed your initiation, I have the privilege of choosing your name."

"..."

"Ah, I can just hear what you're trying to call me."

"To be fair, darling, you are acting rather bitchy at the moment," Orianne said, the rat shaking her head. "Don't worry, dearie. She warms up eventually. But then, you might prefer her like this, at that point."

Regina doubted that there was anyone that she would prefer like this, but then...well, she thought of what it had been like the night before, when she had been in nothing but a blanket as the other woman stared at her, as she was forced to just stand there in the nude and expose her body to the predator. The feeling of being watched, being savored that way, had been all too heated for her liking.

If Damiane could become like that on the regular, that would be more than slightly heated. That could become downright dangerous for her.

The cougar flipped the book open, turning from one golden page to another. Eventually, she settled on an empty one. Regina had a split second to wonder if the text on the opposite page was moving when Damiane shut the book with a smack.

"Cosette."

"...What?"

"Cosette. That will be your name while you're working here."

She had no understanding of French, but she could see from the barely hidden giggles on the part of Orianne and the secretary birds that it was not exactly something flattering. Making a note to look it up on her phone later, she nodded.

"Fine. So, I'm Cosette. What now?"

"Now, you and I are going to practice with a dance." Damiane handed the book back to Orianne, gesturing with a curled finger for the rabbit to follow. "Have you ever shown off for a crowd before?"

"A bit."

"Were you using a sex toy at the time?"

"Yeah."

"Were you on a table, dancing with class, or just spreading your legs and showing ass?"

"..."

"That's what I thought, dear. This doesn't compare to what you've been doing before."

They ascended to one of the four raised areas in the room, and the cougar climbed the chairs to one of the tabletops. She fluttered her dress a few times, tapping the toes of her shoes against the tabletop.

"Keep this beat for me."

Tap, tap-tap, tap, tap-tap.

"Sounds a little...rustic," Regina - or rather, Cosette - said.

"That's the point. A country girl dance can be a little rougher than the more elegant dances that we do in private. You want to start with something achievable, dear. Now..."

Cosette got the point and started clapping the beat. The rest of the women at the bar started doing the same, and a moderately paced hip swaying began, one, two-three, four, five-six. It was a quick check and bump, something to pull the eyes to the hips, keep it there. Damiane pulled her head back in an expression of utter bliss, one that was so real that Cosette couldn't tell if it was faked or not.

Did it matter, though? Not to an audience...

Other steps began, footwork, arm placement, and she pulled herself out of her head. She had to learn this, and fast; she didn't want to see what would happen, or how much humiliation would follow, if she fucked this up.

The End
