I growled, charging my magical energies to defend myself. "What you do talk to them? Tik Tik thought Elicia leave Tik Tik alone!"

A creaking caused me to cast my attention aside to come face-to-face with a beautiful, but alarming, sight.

With gleaming red scales over pink, a crown of horns, and majestic wings, I'd come face-to-face with my queen, Tikana.

"Hello, Tik Tik," she said, a profound sadness in her eyes.

Throughout the Tournament, I had come to learn the sad truth of what was happening. My queen had struck some fell deal with dark and dangerous power. I had not been in the mindset, nor had I known where she was, to confront her about her ignoble decision.

It was only standing there in Elicia's suite that I got the whole picture.

"What Elicia do?" I asked the elf. "Trick Tikana to make Tik Tik upset? Blackmail Queen? Use magic?"

The elf sighed and placed her glass down, folding her arms in a lazy way over her chest. "The two of us are in a pact, and that pact, it seems, has finally been sealed. In the belly of your queen, an egg will soon form, and that egg will have the demonic offspring that is the future ruler of the Dragon's Heir tribe."

She finished that statement, rolling her shoulders, letting the robe fall over her. This action exposed her shapely curves, her full breasts, her wide hips, and finally, the large, monstrous dick between her legs.

"Do you like it, Tik Tik?" the elf asked, smirking. "It cost me dearly, but it's given me so much."

I must admit that my heart throbbed as I saw her physique.

"My pact with Zelbia all those decades ago gave me a lease on life--to bring forth children who would be my legacy, and through those children, I would rule all."

"You've already met a few, and you've come to know at least one," The elf chuckles, fingers brushing over her lips. "After all, my son has more than a passing resemblance to his father."

For the first time, I noticed the green hair and the fiery eyes of the elf and a pang in my heart. My dear friend and companion was the spawn of some demonic union of two of my greatest enemies.

"Does he know?"

She shook her head. "No. And if you don't want to break his poor psyche, you'll leave him be, and you'll do something for me."

I narrowed my eyes. "No, Tik Tik won't. You want be left alone? Tik Tik will do that. Tikana want demon baby, then no have Tik Tik's help."

It was then that the myriad voices of Hanioc filled the room. Tikana trembled, Elicia shrugged, and I tightened my grip on the Stick of Champions.

"Your refusal to play by your role has been causing problems," the angel said, appearing behind the demon-tainted elf with wings spread and majesty hidden.

"I know why I appeared here and not in some divine council room," I said to the messenger. "I've met divine beings before--the goddess Xasandra, in particular. They are not as hidden as you'd make them out to be. How was Izon's reaction when the gods didn't show up to grant her wish? Where is the upheaval in the world that is supposed to come with the dawning of a new age?"

"I granted the champion's wish well enough," Hanioc responded. "You needn't worry about that. But, the changes the Tournament would cause this world may have been exaggerated for drama's sake. One needs to tell a good story for their audience. You of all people should know that."

"As I thought," I said, stroking my thumb over the Stick. "This wasn't some grand endeavor at all, but this was just a sideshow, a... a filler arc in my own life."

Hanioc floats in front of Elicia, or perhaps, they were there the entire time. They stand in front of me in a splendorous kobold body, their face masked with one of the angelic masks. They hold out a clawed hand to me, palm up. "The audience appreciated the hard work you put in. But now that you are glancing past the fourth wall, it is time for you to return what is not yours. Hand to me the Stick of Champions."

I couldn't help but give Hanioc a big grin. "Oh, that's fine. Tik Tik okay knowing that this was time waster, but Tik Tik need compensation, and it will be Stick."

"That stick isn't yours It is min-I mean, it belongs to the gods!"

"You mean, your inscrutable audience? Sorry, but I gave them a show. The least they can do is give me a Stick." Fluttering my eyes, I snapped my fingers. A white pillar of light issued forth from the Stick, hiding me from sight. Hanioc's immortal roar of anger issued forth as they lunged at me. It wouldn't be me that they would run into, and it wouldn't be Elicia's room where they found themselves. This distraction would give me time to make my next move.

My research had led me to find out something most intriguing--a locale I simply must investigate, so when I disappeared, I found myself back into my chambers where I would gather up my packed bags and test the Stick's power once-and-for-all. As I opened the portal and was about to step through, my head jerked back. I was pulled by the neck, unable to leave by some force.

I groped at the invisible barrier, only to feel the necklace around my neck that I had taken what felt like so long ago.

"Forgetting something, mistress?" came a voice, at once both soft and demure but also teasing and self-satisfied.

Sitting on the corner on the opposite side of the room was the robe-cloaked spirit, Maram. He looked at me with his amber eyes, pleading but also superior. "You promised to be my retainer during the Tournament. You won't be rid of me so easily."
