Magnum (c) Me

Location: Teravous 4, Teravous System

Affiliation: Empire of To'Heil

06:57 Hours

In orbit stands a small fleet playing stand off with our forces down here, our orbital guns are getting ready to take aim at them, most are retrofitted merchant ships, so their shields are minimal at best. For the few who do make any landings our troops in power armor are more then eager for a fight with their autocannons and missile launchers, our tanks having already taken position with our mechanized infantry. Reports begin to come of dropships beginning to come down, just before we saturate the air with shells and rocketry, a blue beam comes screaming down, three infantry divisions and one armor division are now gone, smaller shots of the same beam come down, each shot taking out a gun platform or our armor.

On the viewer we see it, the suit is mostly white with an enamel glean, blue markings on the chest, and about half the head, teal eyes giving a dead stare it seems to look around, with blue crystals on parts of it's body, it's right hand grasping a power sword and on it's left arm a wrist-mounted twin laser system. Power armor assault team A-32 attacked the armored foe, their autocannon shells are either deflected or break on impact, the foe flew towards them, it's sword going through their armor like a hot knife does to butter with a few of the suits exploding. The twin-lasers having equally deadly results as our unarmored infantry are no match for it, with only our power armor and armored vehicles offering resistance. The front lines are now consumed in chaos as our forces are wiped out and the enemy now has taken their positions, that blue beam sears through the sky and destroys a plane carrying reinforcements, a hundred souls like that gone, vanquished from the world.

07:30 Hours

The secondary lines are buckling, on screen I see a heavy tank with it's massive gun destroy a captured tank but a blue flash hits and obliterates the heavier machine, it's laminated armor offering no protection, as if a fusion gun had hit it. By now the rag tag forces who came down with ramshackle vehicles and crude weapons were now using our equipment, as our troops either surrendered or simply abandoned their posts before the mystic can get to them. We had done a cross reference and this mystic has gained the code name Anubis, not just from us but by multiple galactic powers, this guy is named after a god of death itself... I can't think of any better title given just how destructive and methodical he is.

The third and fourth lines are standing ready with fifth sending detachments to them, now the question is can we hold him off? I get my answer as the second line finally flees and after a sweeping beam what's left of them with a good chunk of the third line is gone in a quaking explosion as ammunition cooks off and fusion cores are breached. I give the order for what's left of the third to fall back and merge with the fourth and to deploy prototype energy shields, with any luck that'll stop him. The shield starts from the top of our headquarters and goes roughly half a mile out from the third line, now it's a siege.

09:52 Hours

It's been a while since we pulled out forces back, now we're dug in, our troops are ready for the coming storm though even though I look stoic, I tug my whiskers in fear, that this won't be enough. A sighting comes in, showing Anubis shooting into the air, his flight pack helping him zoom to high altitude like an interceptor, we can't make out any sharp details at all as he hangs in the air, suddenly he begins to come at us at full speed, holding what looks like one of our autocannons that the power armor troops use, he zooms past where our shields line is, at first we wonder just how he did it, but we can see the blue crystals on the outside of the suit glow for moment. Flashes come from his position, a second after the 30th flash we hear the computer say the shield system is down, the shield fades away in a white haze and all hell breaks loose as weapons fire takes the air and the ground erupts in chaos as battle rages anew.

We see Anubis take the autocannon and smash it on one of our power armor troops, he looks to our camera with those teal lenses and destroys the camera with his lasers, panic erupts from the staff, he had broken through the field with ease, our artillery from here begins to open fire, 8 inch guns that are pounding our troops just as much as theirs due to the panic from both our gunners and our troops out front. I remember when we took those guns from the people here... they did a lot more damage to us then us using those same guns to fight these rebels. We look to one of the triple turrets as it fires, a blue flash comes and the next moment it explodes, the turret flies into the air as the barrels zoom out and the ground digs itself out, it looks like the magazine detonated. The process repeats with the remaining guns, I can only imagine what range finder he's using.

10:30 Hours

Reports from the fourth show that Magnum is focusing on our power armor troops, 127 lost in a mere half an hour, suits that can withstand hits from a .50 cal and still push through as their 20mm autocannons turned those on the receiving end to dust while those with launchers took out tanks. Most of those soldiers I met in person, met their families, brave men and women who served the Empire of To'Heil... I can see their faces and names flash before my eyes as we see Anubis destroy them one by one, as if they we're nothing but slow-moving tin cans, using their guns against them, ripping their cores out and using them like grenades. Before we know it, the toll becomes 150... 190... 230... by 10:50 hours the toll is at a staggering 358 power armor troops fallen, more then half our total number. Finally a shot hits Anubis, a round from 130mm sabot round sends him into a building, we cheer as the tank advances, it's machine guns begin to pepper the area, now with Anubis dealt with we can focus on reclaiming the area and beating the rebels.

But it's short lived, a blue beam from the rubble hits and goes through the tank, taking out two power armor troops with it, a moment later Anubis emerges, dust and rubble falls off the armor, it's not even scratched! He slowly leaves the ruined structure, the power armor troops begin to fall back, what's left of their morale gone, some are even abandoning their suits so they can run faster, what will it take now?! How can we beat him?! Most of our artillery is gone, most of our armor is gone and now our power armor troops have been broken completely... at this point I am thinking of having all of forces surrender. We could kill all of the rebel forces, but as long as he is around, he'll reduce us to dust, as these rebels seek to reclaim the world... if they all die, so will we.

A look on screen shows him stepping on the husks of our troops, their suits giving instantly as he continues to press, he sprays those wrist lasers into the sky a moment later one of our aircraft smashes into the ground and he takes off once more.

11:20 Hours

Our lines have been fully breached, any remaining troops are going to rally here if they can, a look out the window and I see some flashes, our defense batteries are vaporized, lasers come and disable some of our power armor troops, then there he is, Anubis land right in front of me, the burning buildings behind him in stark contrast to his practically pristine armor, his head move around, scanning us by the looks of it. He's wondering if he has to destroy us to finish the battle, I notice some of our power armor troops itching their trigger fingers... if they open fire, we're all dead. I quickly break out a white flag and I declare our surrender to him as I order our troops to stand down. Everyone drops their gear, with that his helmet folds in, revealing his features. His blue markings and golden yellow hair are striking compared to his grey fur, those blue eyes are calm and level headed, but I can tell he would crush us without a second thought. He raises his left hand in a fist, as if he had done the gesture a thousand times before.

We learn his name is Magnum, a freeblade crusader who isn't officially part of any Knight Order or military. He holsters his sword over his left hip in a type of sheath, he summons water and wind to quench fires and to help aid our troops... speaking of which he even commends them, saying it was an honor to fight them. We even see him open his mouth and from it he fires that blue beam we saw to clear debris so trapped people can be rescued. It's clear he'll show mercy just as quickly as the executioners blade, more so then other knights at least. The council must be warned that unless they seek peace, this mystic will be their downfall... even from here I can see the arrival of not just rebel forces, but ships from Knight Orders and even mercenary groups. Our Empire has only exited for a century, now it maybe certain doom.
