A Furry World - Part 4 Care and Love
I woke up with a start and quickly clamped my hands onto mu head covering my ears, the alarm was deafening. I got up slowly not wanting to use my hands and opened the door with my tail and met the others who were trying to see down the stairs.
"What's going on" I asked letting go of my ears only a little.
"Thieves" Kristy mouthed.
I took a sniff then walked down the stair the others trying to stop me. Kristy followed me and when she took one look then rushed to the alarm panel. Following the scent I quickly found Candy between the bookcases again. I picked her up and she looked at me with eyes filled with fear and tears.
"Where were you trying to go" I asked projecting honest concern at hir.
"I can't stay here" she mumbled.
"Nonsense you can stay as long as you need too" I said a bit harshly as I carried her up the stairs again but the kitchen this time. Putting hir down on a chair I looked at the clock next to the door, it was just after four in the morning and as the others came up I shouted "who's up for an early breakfast"
Thankfully my boss had understood why I wouldn't come in for work today and I had just convinced candy her juice was safe to drink when Kristy knocked on my open door.
"You have visitors" she said and let a two people in. One was a doctor from the facility, a rather tall man in business clothes and he had very neat hair but his face said the most, the look on it said simply he was here to work. The other was his exact opposite and shi pushed pass him to give me a huge hug.
"Stripetail! How are you?" I asked returning the hug. Shi was average chakat with orange fur and a striped tiger tail which had led to her name. "I haven't seen you in ages".
"Well I'm the new psychologist at the facility and I'm great thanks for asking" she said letting go.
"WOW! Really? How did you managed that?" I asked
"Simple. I use to be one anyway and being a chakat made my work a lot easier" shi said with a smirk.
"Where is my patient" asked the doctor with impatience in every word. I pointed him to Candy who immediately ran to the corner of the room and started growling at him.
"Let me have some time with hir alone" said Stripetail and shooed us all out including a very irate doctor. The door barely was closed when the questions flooded in. "Who is shi", "how do you know hir", "what was with the hug"
"OK, OK let's go the kitchen and I will tell you everything". Once in the kitchen I told them how I had met hir I the room that had been set up for taur species and how we almost immediately became friends, blushing deeply I told them how we had helped each other with the needs of our new form until a medication was developed.
"Shi also taught me how to control my new emphatic senses and that's the story. I had intended to go visit hir next month for some more lessons" I said with a slight tinge to my ears.
We were sitting around talking, the doctor sitting in a corner drinking his tea, when Stripetail returned but quickly left again with the doctor following hir. About an hour later I heard someone going down the stairs and Stripes reentered the kitchen. Handing her a cup of coffee as she sat down I tried sensing hir emotions which immediately told me all had gone well.
"Shi is resting now but the doctor said shi was suffering from malnutrition. We both recommend a lot of rest and not rich foods. Toast and porridge should work well but what shi really needs is some TLC" shi said then drained her cup.
The rest of the day my new friends talked with each other and Stripes spent the night with me giving us both the much needed contact we both needed to stay healthy.
The following morning I reluctantly got up and started to get ready for work. Stripes and I left together but only after making sure Alex was awake and looking after Candy. I bid Stripes goodbye at the van that was picking hir up and went to work.
The following days we all did our best to give Candy all the attention shi needed and soon shi was walking around the place without hiding every time she saw Kristy.
During all this Laika and I had grown closer and once we could leave Candy with Kristy we started going out at night and quickly found a club that was run by a raccoon morph named Steven. "The Bandit" specialized in catering for the new furry population and they even had special tables for taurs, which were only the traditional low tables used in Asia but we could comfortably lay down at them. We loved the food and the company and soon we became regulars.
About a month after Candy started living there I decided to act. We were outside the shop having spent another fun evening at The Bandit when I pulled Laika into a deep and loving kiss.
"Will you be my girlfriend" I asked as I broke the kiss. She looked nervous but nodded slowly and gave me a kiss that made my ears flash red which Kristy quickly noticed as we came in through the back door she merely grinned and left us alone. That night I slept the best I ever had curled up next to Laika.
The following morning I pulled myself out of Liaka's arms and went through my usual routine with a new twist. As I made to go down the stairs I gave Laika a kiss that had made all the other oooooh but I didn't care and happily trotted to work.
My good mood lasted all day, in fact my boss told me off twice for smiling too much "your creeping me out and all the customers too" he kept saying. I felt like nothing could go wrong.
When I got home Kristy pointed up the stairs "You have a visitor" she said in an unusual tone. I quickly walked up the stairs and immediately noticed the short older woman sitting at the kitchen table. As I got closer the woman turned around and I recognized her. "Mom! What are you doing here?!"
