#2 of I Love You Lucario...

Here is chapter two of the series, enjoy.

"Jake, guess what?!" Mark said out of breath.

"...what?"

"No dude, you gotta guess!"

"C'mon man its way too early for this."

"Ok, fine. Today, my dad, is taking me, to get a pokemon!"

"...Whoa! Wait what?!" Jake said nearly spilling his cup of coffee.

"I know man isn't it awesome?!"

"You're parents are getting you a pokemon?! What kind?!"

"I don't know yet, they said I get to pick when we go to the lab today. You wanna come with?"

"No shit I wanna come with! Lemme go get dressed real quick! Be down in a sec!"

Jake ran up the stairs with his coffee to go get dressed while Mark went into the house, shut the door and made his way into the living room. He sat down thinking about all the different kinds of pokemon that might be at the lab. Maybe there would be a Chimchar like his old friend Ricky had gotten two summers ago. Maybe there would be a Piplup like his aunt who lived up in northern Sinnoh had. Or maybe there was a Turtwig like the one his next door neighbor used to help her with her gardening. He thought about training with his undecided pokemon and battling the travelers who passed through Twinleaf. He thought about how every aspect of would be after he got his pokemon. Mark's excited thoughts were interrupted by the thundering of Jake running down the stairs.

"Ok dude, I'm ready." said Jake walking into the living room.

Jake was a bit smaller and shorter than Mark. He had short, dark brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a blue and white horizontally striped shirt, a pair of black skinny jeans and a pair of black boots. Jake also had a red scarf around his neck with little tassels on both ends.

"Alright, let's go back to my place."

"Cool. Just another second."

Jake ran to the foot of the staircase and put his hands around his mouth.

"Hey mom!! I'm going over to Mark's house!! I'll be back before dinner!!" yelled Jake.

He turned heading out the door with Mark following close behind.

"Jeez dude, that's an odd way of telling your parents you're leaving the house."

"Well.......it works."

Jake and Mark both laughed at this. They started on down the country road to Mark's house. It was a chilly morning, it being late September and all. There were birds chirping in the few trees scattered around the landscape. There was a slight fog limiting visibility to only about 100 yards or so. The air was dry and cool which made breathing was fairly pleasant.

"So Mark, what kind of pokemon do you think they got at the lab?"

"I have no clue what they might have, but I can't wait to pick one out. Finally I'll have my very own pokemon!"

"I wish my parents would get me a pokemon, but they think pokemon are dangerous and I may get hurt if I'm around them."

"That doesn't make any sense at all! I mean, Mrs. Foster's Turtwig is really friendly."

"I know man, it doesn't make any sense to me either."

They reached the gate of Mark's house and walked through. Mark saw his dad in the shed in the yard. He walked over with Jake following him.

"Hello Mr. Ledford!" Jake said in a friendly tone.

"Oh, hello boys, what are you two up to?"

"Nothing much, waiting to go to the lab. Oh by the way can Jake come with? He wants to come see all the pokemon at the lab." said Mark.

"Well, I don't see any harm in it. The more the merrier."

"Awesome!" said Jake with a big smile on his face.

The two went up to Mark's room and talked about pokemon for the rest of the morning until it was time to leave to the lab.

* * * * *

Mark, his father and Jake were all on their way to Professor Rowan's lab. They were all riding their bikes down the country road with the cool wind blowing in their faces. The air was very relaxing and it was still a bit chilly outside. The rural area started to disappear as they entered the town. There were a few small buildings and houses along with some bigger streets and more lights. The three rode up to one large building with stone walls. The sign on the outside said "Twinleaf Town Laboratory, head scientist: Professor Rowan."

"Well this is the place." said Mark's dad.

"This place is huge." said Mark with eyes wide open. "It's bigger than any of the other buildings."

"It sure is. Thanks for inviting me Mr. Ledford."

"Oh, it's no trouble at all, really. And please, call me Brad." replied Mark's dad.

"Sure thing Mr.... I mean, Brad."

Mark laughed at Jake calling his father by his first name. The three parked their bikes by the building and walked inside. Both Mark's and Jake's jaws dropped. Everywhere they looked there were lots of electric devices, scientific instruments and machinery.

"Oh...my...god." said Jake with his mouth wide open.

The walls of the building were plain white, as was the floor. There were lots of people all wearing white lab coats and sitting in front of computers or in front of the various instruments they saw. There were tables completely covered in papers with reports, charts and graphs of all kinds. Then Mark was the first to notice them, the pokemon. There were tons of them. There were just as many pokemon as people in the building, maybe more. There were some in cages in the corner of the room and some were being examined by groups of scientists probing them with equipment.

"Ahh! Here he is! My good friend Brad!" said a mysterious person. The three turned to see who it was and Brad quickly responded.

"Hey! There you are you old son of a bitch! How are ya?!"

"I'm doing great! We're extremely busy right now! How is life at Poketech?!"

"Well, it gives us a little more money, but it's not as fun as it was working here."

That's good to hear, and...who might this be?" the man asked looking at Mark.

"Oh, this is my son Mark. Mark, this is Professor Rowan, I used to work here at this lab with him before you were born."

"Oh, hello nice to meet you sir." said Mark quietly.

"Nice to meet you too." said Rowan shaking Mark's hand fiercely. "How old are you son?"

"Uhhh... I'm 16."

"Wow! It sure has been a while hasn't it?"

"Yes, it sure has." replied Brad. "Well Professor, how about that pokemon you promised my son?"

"Oh yes, I nearly forgot. Well, we kinda have a bit of a problem with that."

Mark felt his heart sink.

"What do you mean, a bit of a problem?" replied Brad.

"Well, all these pokemon you see around you are just now being studied. We have only just finished with one, but, it's not really a pokemon aimed towards beginners."

"Well, I'll take it anyway."

Mark felt a burst of happiness when his father said this.

"Well, it is kinda owned by someone else. We were about to send it back to the owner, but if you ask the owner, and she says yes, then I guess you could have it. Until then, we won't have any pokemon for give away until about another four or so weeks."

"Well, can we see it before we decide?" Mark asked in a sad tone.

"Of course!" replied Rowan. "Right this way please."

The professor led them to the area of cages with all the pokemon. There were a lot that Mark recognized from the books that he and Jake had read. Rowan bent down and opened one of the cages on the bottom and stepped back. Out stepped a creature that Mark had never seen before in his whole life. It had the shape of a jackal, but it was walking on two legs. It had black tipped ears, blue fur, except on its chest area where it was yellow. It had spikes on both its hands and in the center of its chest.

"What....what is this? Is this a pokemon?" asked Mark.

"What is this? What is this you ask?" replied Rowan. "What this is, is something I can guarantee you never seen before. What this is my dear boy, is a Lucario."
