"I am so, SO glad that you were able to get here after all this time, ya know that?" John smiled as he sat down next to his friend, taking a sip from his Mountain Dew as he did so. "I was starting to think with how everything's been going, your trip might have been cancelled again!"

"Oh trust me, I wasn't gonna take any chances in regards to travelling or whatever... though I REALLY hated wearing two masks through the whole trip with little to no drink breaks!" Peter chuckled. "Not to mention the damn stairs, I felt like they were gonna knock me out with how little I could breathe through them!"

"Well the important thing is that you're here now, so you've got a few weeks to chill out with me and enjoy all the local sights and sounds... ya know, if nothing goes to hell again, anyway!" He tried to joke.

"Aw, what're the odds that it'll happen?" John chuckled a bit as he looked over at Peter, just happy to be able to spend time with one of his friends. The world seeming to go nuts hadn't helped anything, but the fact that he could still spend time with those he considered important was plenty. And this long a period of time would be full of a great deal of unforgettable memories, of that he was certain. "So, what's first on the agenda?"

"Well I thought we could play a few games or something, I've brought plenty of classic two-player games with me, or some more modern ones if you have a Switch on hand." He smirked. "After that, I thought we could kick back with a movie and order a pizza or something, nothing too crazy for the first night!"

He reached into his bag and rummaged around for a few moments before pulling out a travel case that looked to be about the right size for a Switch. "Sure do! But some pizza sounds like just what the doctor ordered, too! But after we've had a chance to smack each other silly in Smash Bros or something." John couldn't resist a grin - he wanted to have some fun, but he'd always wanted to give it his all when it came to playing games. In a friendly manner, of course.

"Of course, just don't expect me to go too easy on you just because we're friends!" Peter said with a sly grin. "I think you'll find that I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve!"

"I'd be disappointed if you were to hold back anyway, so bring it on!" John laughed.

"You've got it!" Peter chuckled as the game booted up and the duo navigated to the right screen and began to pick characters. He had a few favourites to use, and picking between them was occasionally a bit of a challenge. He settled on using Ridley, while John hemmed and hawed for a minute before settling on using Dark Samus. She was someone he'd been getting quite good at using. "Alright! Let's go!"

They battled for a solid hour, swapping out who they played between rounds or every other round. Peter didn't lie, he showed himself to be quite versatile with some of his choices, whilst John proved himself to be a formidable foe as well, with a few matches even going down to Sudden Death. In the end, though, Peter just barely managed to beat John when it came to overall matches won.

"Damn, dude, you really made me work for that one!" Peter laughed, placing a hand on his friend's shoulder. "Given your love of FPS games... at least I think, given all your airsoft guns..., I didn't take you for a fighting game player!"

"Heh, it's just in Smash, mainly - if you put me in a tournament for Street Fighter or Tekken, I'd be utterly destroyed in the first damn round!"

"Same here - why do you think I don't try playing as any of the characters from actual fighting games?" He winked.

"Fair enough! Now, how about we get that pizza? Maybe watch a movie or some anime while we eat, just veg out and have a good time." John chuckled and nodded as he leaned back in the seat, giving his hands a much-needed break from all of the movement they'd been doing. Fighting that intense had given him one hell of an appetite, to boot. And some grease sounded like it'd hit the spot.

"I'd like that!" Peter responded, placing down his controller. "Do you know any good pizza places around here? I'd be curious to see what types you can get and if they're any better than the ones I'm used to back at home!"

"Well, there's Pies Delivered Kweh, it's close and they've got some pretty good specials, from what I've heard. New place, but there's a lot of reviews raving about how good it is." He reached over and handed Peter a flyer that had been sent to him. Detailing pricing, what items were on offer, specials and the like. It had a lot of cutesy graphics and was very bright and cheerful.

"I'm never one to turn down a place that's got good reviews!" He browsed the menu, eying up a few of the options they had, as well as some of the snacks. "I think I'll have to go for that Choco-meteor one, I always love a good meat feast pizza!"

"Guess I'll have the same! Never had one before, but it does sound pretty tasty." He nodded as he pulled out his phone and dialled the restaurant and placed the order, raising an eyebrow at what sounded like chirping and other bird noises in the background, but chalked it up to the place just leaning into a theme. He placed their order and relayed his card info to pay for it. After hanging up, he grinned.

"30-45 minutes, they said."

"I suppose with a time that long, they must take a lot of care when it comes to making them!" Peter smiled. "So what should we do whilst we wait for the delivery?"

"I'm almost tempted to say 'play more games, but my hands are still a bit tender!" John laughed. "I suppose we could kill a bit of time by getting some snacks and drinks ready for later, though we still need to decide on what film to kick back with, too!"

"I could put on some of the Pokémon movies. Good way to spend some time walking down memory lane!" Peter began to sort through his collection, pulling out a few various titles that he had on offer. It would last them until the food arrived and then some, and seeing Ash get up to his usual adventures always brought a smile to his face. For his part, John nodded and grinned. "No objections here!"

"That's what I was hoping to hear!" He beamed. "I just hope these work, I don't normally tend to bring discs with me to different regions!"

"It's modded, so you should hopefully be covered!" John told him. "Trust me, I've had to order a few films from your neck of the woods from time to time, so I've got the bases covered!"

"That's some smart thinking!" Peter smiled as he popped the disc in and the tray closed, and after a few seconds began to play, causing Peter to breathe a sigh of relief. It wouldn't have been a colossal disaster, but he was glad it had worked all the same. The movie soon started after they navigated the menus and they were only about a little ways into the first act by the time the doorbell rang.

"Pizza's here, seems like!"

"And that was around 30 minutes as well, so they were dead-on accurate there!" John got up from the couch, taking a look through the peephole on his door. The pizzas had been left on a table on the porch, alongside a bunch of snacks and drinks, and the delivery guy was walking away. He opened the door and went to collect the food.

"Thank you!" He called out to the man.

"No problem!" The man waved back, followed up by what sounded like a chirp. As John turned to go back inside, he caught sight of the guy's hair under his hat.

"Are those... feathers?" He blinked, rubbing his eyes with his elbow, still holding the food. "...nah, I've gotta be seeing things. I guess being stuck in here's getting to me!" He shrugged, closing the door behind him.

He'd picked up a feather that hadn't been there on the way in and set the food on the coffee table near the couch where they'd been sitting. The pizzas smelled absolutely wonderful and he noticed that they'd both gotten what looked like salads along with their breadsticks. For some reason, despite the pizzas both smelling mouth-wateringly good, John found himself drawn to the salad.

"Time to dig in!"

"I dunno, I've never been one to eat vegetables..." Peter took a look over the salad, picking at the leaves - they didn't look like they came from any vegetable he had seen before, anyway.

"Well they gave it to us for nothing, so you might as well give it a try, right?" John picked up a leaf with a fork, putting it into his mouth.

"Eh, you've got a point there." He shrugged and took a bite of it - it wasn't bad at all, though he couldn't quite place the flavoring any. It didn't taste like anything he'd had before. But it was something Peter didn't mind digging into at all. The salad wasn't too large, so they'd be through it before the pizzas got too cold. And with the movie on, he would be occupied for a good long while..

"Not too bad at all - I might have to find out where they got this stuff from!" He smiled, eating a few more leaves. Before he knew it, he had more or less finished his salad, something which before today would have been deemed an impossible feat.

"What, you wanna take some home with you if they'll allow you to take it through customs?"

"I like it, but I don't like it THAT much!" Peter chuckled, though he had to admit that it was a tempting idea for reasons he couldn't quite put his finger on. Shrugging, he reached over and opened up his pizza, grinning even wider at the sight of it. Laden with enough meat to keep him fed for the week almost, it smelled absolutely wonderful. He began to eat it, idly scratching an itch he was starting to feel on one of his hands.

"Mmmm-MMMM!" Peter chuckled in delight. "Damn, I think this pizza's definitely in the top three best I've ever had!" He took another bite out of it.

"Better not tell your Swiss friend about it, he might think you're blaspheming!" John playfully nudged his friend's side. "I should try mine and see if it's as good as you're hyping it up to be, and if it is, we could always order more in later, it was cheap enough, after all!"

"Oh, you can trust me to keep a se-kweh-t!" Peter chuckled, before he realized that some avian affectations had crept into his speech, the itching growing more intense as he soon figure out exactly why - a look at his hands revealed that brown scales were starting to grow on both hands, his fingernails starting to sharpen into rather lethal looking talons. The white-haired man could also feel strength and energy starting to flood into his body like a welcome tide.

"Woah, what in the..." He looked at his now-clawed hand, the itching sensation subsiding as the scales worked their way up his arms to his elbows, bright golden feathers working their way up the rest of his arms, shimmering in the light. He could feel the muscles in his upper arms bulging, the sleeves of his shirt straining against them.

"Peter... are you growing... are those feathers?" John's jaw hung open in surprise as some of the cheese slid off of his pizza, forgotten in the strangeness of his friend rapidly starting to put on enough muscle definition to make a bodybuilder blush with envy. Peter's arms were getting a lot thicker and longer, the feathers making their way up to his shoulders and going downwards. His shirt starting to feel tighter and tighter as his pecs broadened and tore through his shirt in places, more of those feathers starting to grow.

"Yeah... I guess these are..." He ran his talons across his body, a groan leaving his mouth as his shirt continued to grow uncomfortably tight against his expanding form. Whilst all this was going on, John felt a slight discomfort in his feet, an itching sensation filling them as they covered over in scales, the toes beginning to fuse together. He tried to wriggle his toes, only for the two that remained to poke through the fabric of his shoes, giant talons poking through his toenails, a third sprouting from his heels.

"What the...wrrrk!? What was IN that food?" John practically squawked in surprise as his shoes were destroyed by his massive, avian feet, his legs rapidly gaining strength and width to support what would probably be a powerful, and large, body as brown and grey feathers began to sprout there, his chest feeling a bit odd as his lower body began to shift its positioning. Peter's own changes continued as his shirt continued to fail to hold in the strain of his six-pack abs covered in a soft layer of very large and brilliant feathers..

"Hhrr...hrrrwwwwaaarrrkkk!" He let out a loud cry as his shirt split down the middle, revealing his muscular form. Patches of purple feathers could be seen around his shoulders and back, a thick tuft of them appearing on his upper chest.

"Aaah, that feels a LOT better, wrrrk!" Peter let out a sigh of relief, using his claws to remove the rest of his wrecked shirt, tossing it aside. The scales continued up John's legs up to his feathery knees, a lighter shade of orange compared to the brown scales on Peter's arms, the limbs altering into a more avian configuration as the muscles in them grew thicker and broader, as if built for some kind of animal that could run long distances without tiring.

"Kweeehhh... no kidding! I feel like I could run a marathon! Still don't know what we ate, but... eh... not gonna complain!" John chuckled as he felt his lower body stretching as his legs altered themselves into a similar configuration, the feathers covering his lower half thick and quite warm when they needed to be, his upper torso seeming to slide forward a bit. The feeling of strength and joy was continuing to flow through them both.

"Nor am I, I mean look at these muscles!" Peter beamed from ear to ear, admiring the changes so far. John could feel his trousers starting to strain next - the increase in muscle mass were already taxing them to begin with, but that didn't have nothing on the fact that his whole lower body appeared to be expanding outwards, the back of his pants tenting as a fan of brown and grey tailfeathers sprouted from above his rump, the feathers all but consuming his form.

"Won't be needing much clothing after this either, wwwarrrk!" The brown-feathered man chuckled as he could feel a pair of wings growing in on either side of his densely muscled body, reflexively flapping them for a moment before returning them to their folded positions like he'd been born with them. Peter soon had tailfeathers of his own as his own stance matched John's, though both of them teetered on their feet. They were quite stable, even if their lips were starting to feel oddly numb.

"Kkh...kkwwweeehhhh!!" Peter struggled to talk thanks to the sudden numbness in his mouth. John's body continued its rapid expansion, his form widening even further, making his lower body resemble something akin to a monstrously overgrown chicken. Both of them had seen this form before, though, and even though his body from the waist down looked increasingly feral, a look not helped by the pair of great wings that burst forth, demolishing what was left of his trousers, the rest of his body still appeared fairly human, even as the muscles beneath his shirt rippled.

The numbness in John's lips grew more intense as his teeth began to fuse together, dragging his nose along with the upper half as the masses formed a powerful looking beak as the feathers completely covered his head, his ears shrinking away until they were hidden under his new plumage. While he wasn't as brightly colored as Peter was, his feathers still had quite the glossy sheen to them.

The final feathers worked their way over John's upper arms and back, the orangy scales returning as they grew in from his elbows down to his hands, sharp, curving talons growing from the tips of his fingers. The changes winded down in both of them with their eyes moving towards the sides of their heads, Peter's turning a vibrant purple whilst John's shifted to an orangy-red, their hair shifting into a multitude of feathers sporting a vibrant mix of their plumage's hues.

Just as quickly as it all had started, the transformations to their bodies ended. The two friends were still sitting - just about, thanks to their larger bodies - on the couch, taking a good look over themselves, now fully turned into a pair of tauric chocobos.

"Kweeeeh, this is so awesome!" Peter let out a happy chirp, his wings idly flapping by his side. From his golden plumage, he had a feeling that he might be able to fly, but he wouldn't be able to test out that theory inside of the house, so he'd have to test it later. If he was able to, it'd save him a hell of a lot of money on getting back home afterwards.

"You're telling me!" John smiled, running his hands along his wings. He didn't know yet if he could fly either, but he wouldn't be against testing it out when his friend attempted it. "What do you think caused this to happen?"

"Maybe the salad?" Peter looked at the empty salad box, taking a look over it to see if there was any indication of what it was. On the underside, he saw the following - 'Freshly picked Gyshal Greens - Kweh-t for snacking on!'. "Wait... so we're both chocobos, more or less?"

"Seems like it... guess we really should have pieced that together from the name of the place and the pizzas, huh?" He let out an embarrassed wark.

"Hey, I'm not complaining, the salad was actually good, AND it did this to us!" Peter beamed proudly, pulling John into a big, feathery hug as they nestled against each other. "I wouldn't have expected anything THIS crazy to happen back home, so it's definitely the highlight of the trip so far!"

"Eheh... well this is only your first day here, you're here for a few weeks!" John blushed.

"I know, I know, but come on, we're chocobotaurs! It's gonna take a LOT to top this!"

"True, true..." He smiled warmly, nuzzling against his friend's beak. They both looked down at the piles of ruined clothing, fabric and buttons scattered all across the room. "Man, we really made a mess of the place!"

"We'll clean it up tomorrow, I'm sure it won't take too long to find all the scraps and everything! For now, though, why don't we get back to the film? I don't know about you, but the transformation left me feeling REALLY hungry... I don't suppose you'd object to ordering in a couple more pizzas after we've polished these ones off, would ya?"

"I do believe that can be arranged!" John smirked - the pizzas were still quite warm, and they were cheap enough to get some more. "You better leave a review for the place, though!"

"Oh trust me, I plan to do so right this second!" Peter picked up his phone in one of his taloned hands, making sure he was extra careful not to scratch or crack the screen as he searched for the eatery, typing out a review whilst his other hand picked up a nice, big slice of pizza.

'I tried this out at a friend's request, and I've got to say this is honestly one of the best pizza's I've ever had. 5/5 I'll order again whilst I'm here. Oh, and you've GOTTA try the salad!'
