Chapter 4
All the girls in the room stared at him for a second then looked at each other.
"Katie what do you think?" asked Jessica.
She knew she wanted him to stay and work with them but there was the problem concerning Mallory and the fact that she doesn't like boys being around them to much.
"I guess he could." she said.
"What your really going to trust him?!" yelled Mallory.
"He isn't a bad guy." Katie said in her sweet sensitive voice.
"We don't know that for all we know he could be a rapist."
In that moment something inside of was triggered inside of Kevin. He pointed his fist towards Mallory and in no time it left his arm and punched her on the left side of her face. He had forgotten that he was in a house with other people and that those other people could see what had just happened.
"Oh my god." Jessica said staring at the chained hand on the ground.
Mallory sat up and could also see the hand on the ground also.
"What the?"
Kevin dragged his hand back to his arm and the turned around towards the door and walked out.
"See what you did!" yelled Katie running towards Kevin.
None of them had ever seen anything like that before in there life. Katie caught up with him half way down the steps leading to the street.
"Kevin it's ok you don't have to go."
"You saw what happened back there, they think I'm a freak now."
He didn't bother turning around. He had hurt one of her friends, he was a threat to there safety. He didn't realize it until he looked down at his hand, Katie had her hand in his.
"Your not a freak your just different, come on you can stay here tonight and tomorrow we will see about that job."
That was the first time in so long that someone had not called him a freak. He nodded and they both walked back up the stairs. Mallory was now sitting on the couch while Sarah was fooling around with another one of her doodads, Hannah was in bed and Jessica was sitting in the lounge chair relaxing. Mallory had rarely felt sorry for anyone in her life but for some reason she felt bad for Kevin. They didn't even notice that Katie and Kevin had walked back in until they heard there footsteps behind them. They all turned towards him with a weird look on there face. Mallory was the first one to get up.
"Im sorry." they both said at one time.
Mallory looked at him and he looked back.
"I shouldn't have punched you."
"And I shouldn't have hit you with that pole."
He felt something touching his arm and when he looked down he saw Sarah touching and feeling it.
"This doesn't feel fake." she said pinching the skin.
"Believe me it is."
Jessica got up and also took a look at it.
"How are you able to move it on your own."
"The chain you saw acts like a nervous system when I was to open it just like with a regular arm my brain sends a signal down the chains and into the hand."
He demonstrated by opening both hands.
"How do you do that thing you did to Mallory?" Sarah asked.
"Easy when I need to use it all I do it think "Activate" and im in full command of everything, I can even control my hand when it's separate from my arm."
For once in his life he felt excepted by others.
