#31 of Poetry

This poem I wrote as a song for Lysander to sing to Cassia, in the vein of old songs sung by Bards. This poem was drafted with no particular meter in mind, and with the exception of a few rhymes is mostly prose.

It appears in the novella "Tales of Morveria: An Unlikely Savior", which can be found here, though do to graphic violence and similarly risque themes, it's adult rated. https://www.sofurry.com/view/1794955

The Love Song of a Warrior-Poet

By Mantrid Brizon

You are like the verdant fields, so radiant and vast.

With curves like the mountain ranges and a smile as wide as ocean blue.

Every time I awake alone, I miss you.

I never knew a joy like this, until you came to me.

I drink the nectar of your kindness and return it as often as I can.

I swear to love and protect you, for that is the role of a man.

I have never known a pain you could not heal.

I turned away from drink and fighting to honor your virtue.

All of my sins I recant for you.

Touching the softness of your hair gives me the strength to move boulders.

How can I surrender my strength so willingly to one so frail?

It is a power that to any other would be beyond the pale.

Ask me how and I'll tell you, for I keep no secrets from you.

Ask me why and I will share.

Call my name, and I will be there...
