#4 of Moonlace

Read this first. This will have adult things in it, but not sex, so beware of that. But again the Moonlace comic is adult to begin with. And remember at the time of this, the actual chapter 3 isn't fully finished so from here on out, I don't know what really will happen. I can only theorize as I try to finish the story the way it can for now with what I know. Holly and Moonlace belong to ABD

Here we got with chapter 4

Lovin' a Vixen

(A canon Moonlace story)

Chapter 4: Leading Up

Autor's notes: Now here is where we not only get into some of the meat for how I would work in the actual comic, but also where we are in chapter 3. Most of this has happened but beware; it does contain horrid adult situations, but also has insight to some things but not all. The comic has some of the missing things but again the comic isn't for the faint of heat. Also at the time of this all of chapter 3 isn't fully out. So from here on out this is only going to be with what I know and have theorized so far.

Of course even with all that, evil and darkness hid in the shadows and in plain sight at times. Even back when Nicholas first met Mocha and Lin was when the fosky really got worried. It was because what he sensed in the panda due to her self-doubts and insecurities, but especially for the red-haired feline and the dark secret she carried. That alone was why the long-haired male invited Cody and Meredith, to see what they thought as well. The Dhole and maned wolf also got the same bad feeling since they sensed those things too. But even more suspicions began to rise up when during that time spent together, mentioning of the book came up. And it all started when Nicholas asked about any projects and things the others were doing just for conversation at that restaurant. "Just trying to find out about a book," Holly had said.

"What book?" the male asked before Mocha, Lin, or Jen could even say anything as those three felt that since it was connected to the feline's family, it might be a bit more private business. What was more surprising to those four was as soon as the title was mentioned, Nicholas chocked on the drink he had, spitting it back into his glass. The guy was coughing hard. But for Cody and Meredith, their eyes went wide with shock before going back to normal. The gears in both of their heads along with the fosky's were rotating at a rapid rate.

"Sorry about that," Nicholas managed to say after recovering. "I thought you said something else which was why I did that." It pained him he had to lie to Holly but he couldn't say the truth for now.

"Here, allow me," the dhole in the group said, getting a pen out of his pocket and writing something down quickly on a napkin. The fosky saw the message which told him to not ask out loud about the book, there might be eavesdroppers. The long-haired male knew what his friend was talking about, but none of the other ladies saw the note.

"I'm sure that's fascinating," Nicholas told Mocha and then moved onto the next topic. Neither her, Jen, Lin, or Holly suspected a thing was going on.

However during the rest of the time, the fosky wrote down some things on another napkin. When asked what, he replied it was notes and nothing to worry about. At the end of the meal, everyone began to gather up their things. But Nicholas stopped Moria and Jen as he knew those two were roommates now before those two left. "About earlier..." he whispered and slipped the feline the things he'd be writing down on the napkin secretly. "Just read this both of you, and don't make it obvious." They got confused and he gave them a look not to question him and just read it.

The two did and saw he was asking if he could see this book and bring Holly as well right now at the feline's place. The guy had heard of the book but it was best to lay down low. It was also better not to let this show on their faces. Mocha and Jen got confused but Nicholas had a way of soothing a person's emotions and allowing them to trust him in a good way. After all, the guy wasn't a manipulating bitch like the Seleni. "Sure, I think you can drop by with that and Holly," the feline replied and pocketed the napkin like it said to do so in her pocket. She would dispose of it later.

"You need me for something?" the vixen asked, hearing that.

The fosky leaned over to whisper in her ear. Since they weren't dating yet, having the male this close and feel his hot breath tickle her fur made Holly's heat beat go fast but he whispered to the female to act natural and that he needed her help with something. The vixen didn't get it but like Mocha and Jen, she trusted the long-haired male. Everyone then departed ways and soon the four were back at Mocha's place. "This is it," the feline said after getting the book out and in front of Nicholas.

He was stunned in silence for a moment. "So... it really is it..." the male whispered and touched it, getting goosebumps.

"You're heard of it?!" Holly whispered excitedly.

"I have." He opened it and saw the family name Mocha had. "Oh... what is this?" He was told what the name was and why Mocha was keen on finding out more as she had so many questions.

"And how did you acquire it?" the male then asked.

"It just appeared in my bag," Holly explained. "Just weird how it did and even Tarot cards can be weird too."

Nicholas was even more stunned and worried. This was not good and he had a nasty idea already of what was going on. But the vixen's last statement also spoke out in his mind. "Uh... you okay?" Mocha asked the male. His lips furrowed and then the guy spoke.

"Can I borrow this for the night Mocha?" the fosky asked. "I promise I will return it to you first thing tomorrow. I just need a good look at it especially if you need help finding out more about it."

"Um... okay," the feline replied and handed it over.

"Don't worry, I'll do my best," he replied. Jen frowned, but decided to let it go.

Nicholas and Holly then left the apartment but he stopped her in the hallway with the book under his right arm. "Wait a moment," he said to her.

"Yeah?" she asked.

"Earlier you mentioned Tarot cards. Do you... actually use them?"

"I'm really good at reading them." This really made the gears in Nicholas's head turn even more. Everything Holly had told him, all the pieces of information were starting to form a picture in his head. But he nodded in response to her comment.

"Well I can't, it's quiet a complicated thing," he commented. "I mean I know there's a major and minor suit and what they've been used for in popular culture. I've even shown you a couple examples of that."

"You did; would you like me to teach you how to read them?" the vixen asked with a smile.

"That's okay. Anyways, go on ahead outside. I need to make a private call and will catch up with you to take you back to your place."

"Okay!" Holly left and as soon as she was out of sight, Nicholas said a word, one that carried power and was not any known or ancient language. The book under his arm disappeared, teleported back to his place which was where it would be safe.

"Now then..." The guy got out his phone and called Cody's number. The dhole answered. "It's me Cody. Listen, we need to talk; you, me, and Meredith at our usual place..."

The time was arranged for the next evening. Nicholas did look into the book and was even more disturbed of what this could mean before returning it to Mocha. And at the designated time, he was waiting for the maned wolf and dhole on the roof of a building. The place was protected from ears, eyes, and the enemy thanks to actions he took earlier. "You made it," Nicholas said gravely, sensing their presence.

"Of course we did," the dhole replied. He and Meredith also felt as Nicholas did, and weren't happy.

"And you weren't followed?"

"We made extra sure as always and then some," the maned wolf replied.

"Good. We don't want the enemy, especially those Seleni bitch scum, knowing what we're up to."

"You have the book with you?" Meredith asked.

"No, I had to return it to Mocha," Nicholas replied. "I promised I'd give it back and you'll understand why after I explain. But I have images as proof." He showed them to the maned wolf and dhole from his phone. The three were then silent for a bit.

"So what do you think?" he then asked seriously.

"Trouble is stirring and in more ways than one," Cody stated, the wind pulling at all three's hair a little due to how high up they were.

"Yeah, and it's not just those two sides," Meredith added.

"Holly, Lin, and Mocha; the first and third I'm the most worried for because of different reasons," Nicholas sated. "But Lin could be a problem too. I think we could all sense it right? That darkness in her and from self-doubt and wondering. She may act like things don't bother her but there's always a slight look in the eyes that I can see as well."

"What could have caused it?" Cody asked. "Surely not because of Nicholas?"

"No, I think it's been there for a while and long before she met him," Meredith said. "It's a lack of self confidence in her looks and herself. Haven't you noticed? She's never once started the conversation."

"Huh, I thought that was cause of Jen or Holly."

"No, I've noticed it too," Nicholas stated. "And the concerns are what that self-darkness can do if left unchecked. After all..." Here he paused. "If those particular enemies sense it then can draw it out. The kind of darkness they would use to take advantage and toy with a mortal."

"They do have that gift, those Seleni bitch scum," Cody growled slightly. "They have that gift to find the darkness in a person's heart and draw it out, no matter how deeply buried or hidden it is..."

"Yes, but what they don't realize I think is that her darkness is only one kind. What we have would unleash a horror for them; at least I know it would be for me and some others," Nicholas concluded. The three were silent again for a few seconds.

"But speaking of them, have you...?" began Meredith.

"Yeah, I have," Cody replied. "It's Mocha, I can sense what she's become or awakened."

"And there's only one being I know capable of doing that... Chandra," Nicholas snarled out the name and the other two canines growled as they all had reasons to hate that Seleni bitch. "If she's awakened Mocha, it's not good. But from what I can sense, that feline's just recently become one of them. I'd say not even three months have passed since it's happened. And not even been fully initiated as one. That's good then as we can warn her while there's still time and have her fight against evil. Especially since it's not just the Seleni, the Nephilim are also on the move. Something big's coming, and if our leaders are right, then it seems a second war is coming."

The three were silent as even though they hadn't been part of that, they had heard the stories and seen the memories of the event. "It's a shame Ama's not around to help us like before," Cody added. "She's really been a big help with fighting against her corrupted evil sister Chandra."

"Yeah, but the last time I had contact with her in general was five years ago," Nicholas stated. "Not before that mission I took when 18." Here he snarled as another female's face popped into his head. It was that of a she wolf with blue eyes, long loose orange hair, and with a dark and light grey fur pattern. "I haven't forgiven how badly I lost that fight against that Seleni bitch under Chandra, Mu. Her twin Eta's a nasty one too, but it's Mu I'm not forgiven like all of them but Ama. Ama's the exception and now Mocha."

"You've been training hard for the last four years," Cody told the fosky. "I'm sure this time things will be different when you two do fight. Plus, last time you did, you had your face covered. So she wouldn't recognize your face which can be used to your advantage." The dhole crossed his arms. "After all, the Seleni never play fair, sometimes we have to resort to dirty methods too. All in the effort to stay alive during war."

"Yeah. Regardless Mocha's not safe if Chandra's got on her eyes on that feline, no matter what. If Mocha does fully awaken, and we can stop that, it will deal a massive blow to the enemy. The war is brewing, and we're not going to lose it. I know where I stand and it's against Chandra and all the Seleni under her or who come to her call. I swear on being an Eternal Halo Member."

From under his shirt, Nicholas pulled out another necklace. Attached to the black colored chain was a different item. It wasn't a cross but more like a ruin. The main body was like a kind of diamond shaped with the top part branch off to the left and right that then curved out and in like an arch and ended for both with two points. "We're also with you as members too," Cody added and his girl Meredith nodded.

"So what about Holly?" the maned wolf asked.

"If that vixen's got some magical powers or something, you can be dammed sure I'm going to help her out," Nicholas said. "I won't let any Seleni bitch scum even lay a finger on her. Not even if it's Mocha. I know some might say I'm being too drastic but I don't care. I love Holly that much and I will die if I have to if that is what it takes to protect her."

Meredith and Cody smiled but even she knew better to not tease Nicholas about that. "Yeah, I know how you feel when it comes to my girl," the dhole commented. "And we'll help anyway we can."

"So... what's our next move?" the female asked.

"The only thing we can do is watch and wait," Nicholas said. "In a city this big, who knows how many Seleni bitch scum are here or Nephilim too. It's large to hide within the vast population easy. We could have passed any on either side and not know about it. Just like they wouldn't with us as we hide and mask our powers and energy well. At most if one was to focus their attention on us, we would just rub them the wrong way. But the fact that book appeared in Holly's bag like that... it must have been slipped in by a Seleni. It might have been Chandra herself. And if the latter's true, she could very well be here in the city now."

Cody and Meredith's lips furrowed. "Well we can't fight her, all three of us couldn't beat her," he stated.

"I know, and that's why I propose this. One of us need to contact the Eternal Halo about this and also to check the archives as well as get in contact with Ama. I know for a fact the whole completed collection that book is a part of is there."

"But you know how much of a pain in the ass it is to access that," Meredith pointed out. "You can thank all the dangerous artifacts and items stored there found by our order's entire history for that. And with war brewing, the higherups and leaders must be having the entirety of the Eternal Halo preparing."

"We have to try," Nicholas told her. "If there is even a chance, it has to be taken when dealing with Seleni. And as for me... I'm going to contact a couple of others as we're going to need all the help we can get here."

"Who?" Cody asked.

"The two others of our order I trust the most besides you and Mereditht; Byron and my master Aiko who taught me how to fight." The maned wolf and dhole's eyes went wide with shock.

"If you are mentioning them, this is really bad like we suspected," the male dating Meredith commented. "So I guess for now, all we can do is wait and keep an eye on things. But should we tell the other four about this?"

"Not yet, but I would imagine soon," Nicholas told him. "We don't know how much time we have left. I would say only if they find something about the book or the enemy contacts Mocha again. If neither of those, I'd say after this month as it will probably take that long to get Byron and Aiko out here and settled. And then there's that place we have to check up on to prepare for what is to come."

"Yes... that training room," Cody said. "Very well. Then we'll do that and prepare to tell them..."

"Yes," Meredith added before speaking a line in the same strange language Nicholas had used to send the book to his place. But what she said was, "For the glory of the Eternal Halo, we will not fail."

"You said it," the fosky replied and then said another line in English. "And as that man said; If anyone does not love the lord, Jesus Christ, let him be accursed as his coming; God save you from your fate. Amen."

That had been very early on during the month before that amount of time was over. Now in the present, things were really going to start getting to move. First, the two mentioned by Nicholas who he said he would call had arrived and had settled in to blend into the population perfectly. They had met with the fosky, Cody, and Meredith and had been explained about what was going on. They agreed on how to proceed as it was in high doubts all of the Eternal Halo would drop everything to come here. So it would be up to these five to do what they could. In the meantime, Nicholas and Holly were still in love and doing good as a couple. But while Mocha was happy for them, she wasn't doing as well in some ways as indeed, the enemy had gotten to her and wiped out parts of her memory to avoid her from awakening. Even worse, she had been friends with Ama before a certain incident happened before the latter had fled. All that the feline knew was that Ama had perished but that wasn't true. And as for the book, nothing had come up on her side, the others, or even Nicholas, Cody, and Meredith's. It felt at times she was the only one still looking. But today was one to at least forget about her problems for a few hours as she, Jen, Holly, and Lin were going to hang out at their fav restaurant, the Lemon Tree one. The maned wolf and her dhole boyfriend wouldn't be there as they had some things to do. Nicholas was busy as well and while it pained him to be apart from Holly due to love and the danger, duty called. He did promise her that he would make it up to her Saturday.

Mocha was thankful for the distraction as with a month passing, she thought things would go back to normal. Even if in her she knew some things wouldn't quiet be the same after certain things like the fire at Ama's place happening. However, someone did come this morning to inform her about the status of Ama who had ended up fleeing after the fire. However, according to the law, because a body hadn't been found after all this time, Ama was officially declared dead and there was evidence she had perished in the fire. But she had left a will with instructions. What that female had left Mocha was a key to her painting studio and the feline received that item after signing a couple of papers which the guy had brought and the news. There was a note telling Mocha that there might be some things she would like that she could keep, and the rest was to be sold. It ended with Ama stating she would always love Mocha forever. And it was true as the former actually did. It had taken thousands of years but it had happened with finding the only being for her. These words caused Mocha to cry, bringing back the confusing feelings of love and the horrible fire back to her memory. She had been trying to move on from but this proved she hadn't fully.

Later at the restaurant, Mocha was able to put that to the back of her mind for now. During the conversation, Holly did happily tell how things were going with her and Nicholas. But then near the end, the conversation did go to about the book. Mocha had been trying the city archives to search her family's name but that had proven to be just as hard like with how difficult it was to get into the Eternal Halo Archives. The conversation was then overheard by a male lupin, one of the waiters named Faolan. The guy had black colored hair and fur with red colored eyes. While his hair was longish, it was nowhere as long as Nicholas's as it couldn't be pulled back into a ponytail. But he did have some of it braided that hung on the left side of his face. The guy said that someone from the archives came here and owned Faolan a favor. It was decided the lupin would ask and he would call Mocha when the deed was done with doing a quick small personal search on Mocha's family name. But then came another problem. It turned out Holly had been doing a lot of paying for these meal but didn't have a job yet. She hadn't even mentioned this to Nicholas as in her happiness and love for him, the vixen had forgotten to tell the fosky that. Now he had paid for all of their dates of course. But for everything else in her life, the poor naïve vixen had. And even though she had brought money with her when she had left that clustered home, it wasn't nearly enough as her place was an expensive one to rent. And only now by talking with the other three, was a lot of Holly's innocence with how the real world work started to come out. It was due to being in that home that hadn't prepared her for life outside it when it came to money and things. And that included not just paying for these meals, but also other expenses as well. And after some quick math, it was clearly Holly didn't have much money left. Especially since the place was scamming her and taking advantage of her.

Action had to be taken, one of which would be telling Nicholas and finding a job. But first it was off to her place to try to straighten out the rent. Well as it turned out, the landlady was a bitch in her attitude and wouldn't budge. But what the group didn't know was that one under Chandra was spying and keeping an eye on Mocha as she had been ordered by her sister-in-law. In the meantime, nothing could be done with the landlady so that meant a plan b. Holly then got the idea to invite all three up to her place. It seemed like a good idea as the vixen had never gotten to host anyone, and they needed a place to regroup and gather their thoughts. It was to be noted that when Holly suggested this, her friendly attitude came out and for some reason her arms went around Mocha in a hug. This meant nothing, but one would question as Holly was dating and loyal to Nicholas. The feline knew that as well, but the thing was the red-haired female had been stricken by the vixen's looks much like Nicholas had as Mocha was actually bi even if she herself didn't fully know that yet. Even worse, Holly's hug and naïve self being unware what she was really doing cause the Seleni part in Mocha to surface in the form of needing energy, the kind that sadly could only be obtained by acts of horrible sex like a succubus.

Mocha excused herself and was told to meet up with the others as Holly's place at room 405. What the feline didn't know was that someone had spotted her, and it was a Seleni in reality, not one in Chandra's group, but still one all the same. It proved Nicholas's words earlier; you never knew how many Seleni could be in a place, or this city. If they were female, there was a chance as all Seleni were female. In the bathroom Mocha retreated to, this new female told her that it was spiritual energy she was craving. Even though this Seleni asked the feline if she was one of that race, Mocha of course had no idea yet of what was being talked about. The second being offered up to give some of the energy the feline needed. They went back to the Seleni's place where they wouldn't be disturbed. But what followed was the kind of sex where there was no love, no emotions, no nothing, Just the mindless kind that would make Nicholas's snarl. But when the act was finished, right after the going over the edge, the energy transferred to Mocha in the form of red light to her body. But then things got worse. For when Mocha asked what a Seleni was, the other one snapped. She flew into a rage, stating she had been sensing one for weeks, had done hours of investigating and searching to find out Mocha had been here. The second female had even sat in waiting rooms for days. The feline still didn't know what was being talked about and the other Seleni stated the feline hadn't been initiated at all and that Mocha was like a ticking time bomb.

The raging female mentioned an incident at a park that involved a burst of energy, and that was what she had felt, even stating Mocha couldn't be one of the 12. But it didn't matter as the Seleni revealed her monstrous, ugly form with the demonic wings, glowing red eyes, shinning jewel like center on her collar bone area, her black cow like horns growing longer like a demon, and her spiked tail with a nasty stinger on the end of it emerging. She stated that Mocha was a trespasser and needed to be taken care of. She even stated there was only room in this city for only one Seleni. At that moment, the one who had been keeping an eye on Mocha crashed through the window of the place. This new female was also in her Seleni form and the two knew the other from their reactions. It had been this new being the one that had tried to kill Mocha felt. The sister-in-law named Moira stated to the other named Meness, that everyone in Chandra's group was here and they weren't leaving. But Meness angrily insisted this was her city, like it was her territory. Moira told this Seleni Chandra and their group weren't here for her, but would only stay until their business was done, which had to do with Mocha. Meness had no choice but to retreat as she couldn't beat Moira despite knowing that Chandra and her group didn't belong here. She warned in rage that this wasn't the last Chandra or the rest had seen her and flew off. Mocha was still in shock over what happened, even after Moira went up to her. But despite from memories being wiped earlier, the feline did recognize this other Seleni. But like before, the latter had to burry this memory from Mocha a bit, but not erase it as she needed more time. But the Seleni did promise it would be for the last time and her fingers glowed blue, her powers doing the deed.

Mocha black out but for some reason, a memory from her past came up in her mind. It was when she was little when she and her older sister Coccoa lost their mom. Their parent had died in a fire as mentioned, the only thing being saved was a small chest like container of her stuff that one could carry under an arm. Given how young the two sisters had been, even a child could carry this in a hurry. Coccoa had managed to get her sibling out of the blazing inferno, trying to explain to a very young Mocha their mother was gone and she had saved them from being killed. They had to go before whoever wanted to cause the sisters harm caught them. But after the younger feline tripped right at the edge of the property the burning house was on, the two heard a noise and saw what looked like white angel wings leaving the burning building. Mocha had whispered through crying an angel had taken her mom. But what the feline hadn't known that this was most likely a Nephilim. Mocha in the present suddenly woke up, confused, as right now she had no idea if she had fallen asleep while going up to Holly's. The feline got up, blaming it for spending up too late at night doing online video games, and wondering why she had dreamed that night of all things.

The time at Holly's went well. But nothing happened that wasn't supposed to as the Seleni side of Mocha was calmed for now. While the four did talk and enjoy the vixen being the host, they knew Holly would need to get a handle on things. That was why Friday they would begin and Nicholas would have to be told Saturday since they needed a solid plan before telling the long-haired male and having him worry. However, what the guy wasn't expecting was seeing the other three at his girlfriend's place when he came to pick Holly up and entered her flat. "Wait... okay what the hell is going on here?" the fosky asked, confused and seeing this place look a bit clustered. It wasn't what he'd been expecting as he had never been here before despite Holly being at his place. But the flat still had a homey feel to it, and had things Holly was into.

It only took a little bit to let the fosky know and he exploded in disbelief and worry. "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME ABOUT THIS BEFORE HOLLY?!?!?!" His voice rang loud and if this were an anime, it would shake the whole building.

"I'm sorry!" she exclaimed, scared. The fosky just brought her in for a hug and kissed her on the forehead.

"Actually... I'm sorry," the male whispered. "I just... honey, it was so surprising and it caught me off guard." That was the first time he'd ever used a pet nickname for his girl. From then on, they would in their relationship. "Look... let's just both take a deep breath and then we'll get this figured out for you. I promise."

With him, the guy really got the process going for getting Holly a job and out of her bad situation. But the other thing the Eternal Halo member sensed was Mocha. He could tell her Seleni powers had grown a bit more to the point that this couldn't be ignored anymore. It was like the enemy had contacted her and it was time to tell her, everyone, and especially Holly everything. Once the fosky was safety back in his place, he called the other four Eternal Halo members up. "It's me," Nicholas stated. "It's time to tell them everything. Now then, let's go over the plan of how we're going to make this work so the enemy doesn't know what we're up to..."

Author's notes: So while things have been revealed, it's not time to get into motion on where things will go for now. At this time, I don't know how chapter 3 will end and won't until 2022. But no matter what happens, Holly will always be with me and by my side for eternity.
