Brandon and Minda

Blankness, that's the only thing my computer screen held as I brought my hands under my chin. It's been three long horrible weeks of no ideas for any dragon related stories, I mean, I had lots of ideas; or had. I huffed out a deep hot breath as I pushed my chair away from my computer to stand up. What was wrong with me? I mean, before everyone knew dragons really did live among us; I held many ideas. Oh you didn't know? Well the year is 2010, if you don't know dragons and dragoness now live around where I live; thou some were not as large as you would think. Some dragons that I knew were about the same size as me, six foot. I sigh bringing my tan skin body to the mirror to fix my messy brown and yellow tip hair. I caught a glimpse of the rest of my face as well, green eyes looking back, my left tip ear almost elf-like; my ears held to small gold hoop earrings. I wore my new style of clothing today; all black. My shirt looked to be a basketball jersey with long baggy black jeans. I sighed again; maybe some fresh air will do me good. Walking though my home, I almost told my mom I would be out for a bit, but stop when I realised; there wouldn't be a voice to tell me "Alight.". My mother was dead, killed by a freak tidal wave when we went to the beach not two weeks early. We couldn't even burry her because we couldn't find her body, all we did find was her cloths and blood; lots of blood. I remember not talking the whole way the police took me home, I was old enough to take the house to my own, and mom did pay for it for the next ten years; so I was lucky. But once I was inside and the door close, did I fall on the door and cry. I didn't know how much I cried that night, all I knew was that I was alone; very alone. I was stilling standing in the same place where I was as the flash back ended, I felt one tear come to my eye but I pushed it aside as I went outside to enjoy the cold air on my human skin.

Running always did help me think, the idea of four human friends finding four eggs came to my head as I ran past a group of dragons. One waved at me as I knew it was a little hatching that I dragon-sat once in a while. I waved back but didn't stop, when I was like this I couldn't and wouldn't stop; just run. Sweat poured down my face as I made the last turn to my house, putting my hands on my knees I began to pant and gasp. Once getting my breath back I went to the door and opened; the smell of cooked pizza filled the air. How the hell? I slowly made my way up the few steps of stairs as I brought my head to look around. Nothing was in the living room, so where was it coming from? I went into a spear room, nope just an old TV and bed; did that mean...? I brought my dull Katana and made my way slowly to my room. I knew I couldn't cut the person who was in my room. But if he thought I wouldn't try and scare him; then he was wrong! The sound of chewing inside my close door room caught my ears as my grip tighten, kicking the door open I jumped and landing beside my bed with my sword up and my jaw drop. Sitting on my bed was a Wyvern dragoness.

Her tan scales showed more then her yellow underbelly did. Like all Wyverns her had wings where her arms would be. Horns from her cheek went back a bit with two horns on her head pushing back; and one small on her snout. She wore a necklace I never seen before, dragon made no doubt and as I brought my eyes to look at her to see if she was a threat; I saw a heart like tattoo on her right thigh. I gulped when I saw the tattoo as she took another bite of my pizza with her wings; I wondered how she could do that.

"Hey there hot stuff!" I filched back, her voice was sweet and charming, but what got me to filch was that she called me 'hot stuff', no one, not even a human; called me that. "This here," she went on showing the plate of pizza on my bed, a few places were stained with sauce as I held back a mutter, "Is great pizza! Where'd you get it from?" I brought my sword in its rightful place as I gave a light chuckle.

"I made it." I told her standing in my door way, sure she sounded nice, but so did the waves; and they took my mother away. I saw her eyes widen as her jaws dropped, showing her rows of teeth's.

"You made this?!" she asked almost shock, "You're pulling my tail!" I rolled my eyes crossing my arms,

"What?" I asked, "A human can't cook?"

"Males don't cook to my understanding."

"Well I'm different." I was still at the door way as she chuckled,

"Are you sure you're male?" I gave a slight growl as she chuckled patting the bed the spot next to her, I shook my head as I glared.

"How did you get in?" I asked letting my hand drop to my sides. I heard her chuckle again, by now I was getting pretty sick of that laugh.

"The door was open, and." She brought up one of her wing tip up to show my keys, "I would guess these are yours'?" I patted my pants as I felt nothing in there, cursing under my breath as she past them over. I took them gentle from her tip, my finger tracing her claws.

"Thanks." I brought my hand back which was trembling a bit. She gave me another smile. I took the sit she offer early and sat down, taking a breath in. "May I ask," I asked turning to her, I had to look up a bit because she was tall, "What are you doing here?" she turned away a bit as she seemed to be blushing, her tail twitching from time to time.

"Well," she answered still not looking at me, "I've been bored for a while, and well; I want to go to this club called Rave." I heard of Rave, so far the only bar that allowed both dragons and humans to drink and eat together.

"Okay?" I answered back, "And why are you telling me this?" she looked back, her blue eyes looking back at my green ones.

"I want to know," she asked, "If you'll go with me?" I blinked, and then blinked again. She was asking me to go to a bar with her?

"Well two things," I told her, "One, I don't know your name; and two," I brought my finger up showing two fingers, "I don't dance." She slapped her head with her wings,

"Oh my, I'm sorry!" she smiled, "I'm Minda; and you?" I thought for a moment and just shrugged,

"Brandon."

"Well Brandon," she smiled again, "Will you come?" what did I have to lose right?

"Sure, I'll come." She gave me a quick hug as she hurried me out the door toward Rave.

I still couldn't believe that I was going to a club with a dragoness I really didn't know, I mean; we did just meet and all. I followed close behind her, not that I had much of a choice; seeing how her tail was still wrapped around my wrist to a point that it would pop off if she held any tighter. I remember my mom telling me after I helped someone getting their ball out of a tree, that if some random girl came up to me and asked for help, I would help just like that; I guess you could put this as "help" if you thought of it that way. We stopped on a red stop light as a few cars flew by; I took my chance and asked if she could release me of my hand prison. She turned her muzzle to me and gave me a questionable look as I brought my hand up to show that she had her tail wrapped even tighter on me. She chuckled as she did as she was asked letting it fall to the ground with a soft thud. My arms crossed as I waited, tapping my feet as I counted the seconds that went on, thirty, thirty-five; there we go. The light changed as we crossed, I could see Minda from the corner of my eyes as she almost bounced toward the club. I gave a slight chuckle this time as I saw her hold the door for me. Inside wasn't that coward, seeing how this was a new place, and how many humans and dragons didn't like to dance with the other watching.

"Brandon!" I turned toward the bar, a man wearing a red shirt waved over at me, his hair was pulled back into its' black ponytail. His pale skin seemed to bounce off the light hitting him as I waved back.

"Hey Jack," Minda was already gone which puzzled me, bathroom; maybe. I went over and sat on a stool as Jack chuckled, "What's so funny?" I demanded glaring at him; he only chuckled as he poured me a large glass of Root Bear. I never did like to drink, it was weird for a lot of people but to me; it wasn't. I hated the smell and taste of that gross liquid moving down my throat. I brought the glass to my lips as he chuckled again.

"So how's your girlfriend?" I spit the drink back out as he howled with laughter, I wiped my face of what ever was left on my mouth as he cleaned the table; he knew I would do this, I knew it.

"She's not," I growled grinding my teeth, "My girlfriend." I began to tell Jack of how I came to meet Minda, he brought his arms on the table as he listened then chuckled.

"You got a slacker then!" he howled again as the door opened and he groaned, "Not them again." I turned to see a pretty large red dragon wearing a gold armour plate with blue cloth around his legs and arms. Slung on his hip, a sword and a dagger; a shield on his back. "These guys seem to be everywhere!" I raise an eyebrow as I lean in closer.

"What do you mean?" Jack whispered close to me,

"It seems the Dragon Kings' daughter had gone missing," he told me, "And the dragon that is to wed her is sending more and more of his men to find her. True I like his way of looking for her, sending dragons after dragons to look; but still, there have been some...unneeded ways of asking people." The way he said it got me to whisper even lower so the dragon that was close to us wouldn't hear,

"What do you mean?"

"It seemed they'd put a young boy in a comma because he said he say the dragoness, only to find it wasn't." I was shocked, "The boy was only five..." my teeth grinded together, monsters; that's the only word I could call them. The boy was only, well a boy. "But if they think they can get away with harming anyone here, they got another thing coming!" I raised an eyebrow.

"What do you mean?" Jack gave me a surprised look,

"You really don't know about them; do you?" I shook my head for his response, he was about to say something until the red dragon made his round toward us again. Jack poured me another drink as I began to count money to pay him, the dragon huffed as he went the other way; leaving me and Jack to speak again. "Forget about payment today Brandon; anyway. It seemed that the Human government is backing up their pact they made with the king, that they couldn't harm any of his men, or his soon-to-be-son-in-law men." His fist clutched, I had a feeling he knew who the boy was that was attacked, "Which I think shouldn't be allowed!" the dragon whipped his head to us as I played along.

"Yeah the Yankees shouldn't win the cup!" I heard a snort as Jack nodded,

"Nice cover."

"Learned from the best," He chuckled as the dragon left as our voices became normal again, but when I was going to ask something else, I felt a tap on my arm.

"Hey Brandon!" I turned around to see Minda smiling at me; Jack chuckled as I glared,

"One word," I warned, "And I'll tell her of your little 'Farm adventure.'." that stopped him and soon he was busy again. Minda seemed confused as I stood up, looking up at her. "It's nothing Minda." I reassured her, "Where were you anyway?" her muzzled tighten,

"Bathroom," She answered looking at the door, there was still light, did she want to go already? "Care to dance?" I groaned as I heard Jack laugh, I glared at him as he backed away.

"I don't dance," I told her sitting down, but she pulled me back up.

"Come on!" she said in a louder voice, "One dance!" I sighed; I nodded only once as she pulled me to the middle of the room.

I swear I will get Jack for this, as soon as we were on the floor he changed the music to a slow pleasing song. Minda brought her wings up; I didn't take them, only brought my head down. "I...can't dance," I told her, she brought her right wing under my chin and lifted it.

"We'll go slow," her voice was even sweeter now, the kind that sent shivers up my back as I slowly nodded; taking her wings this time. She moved her feet a bit as I followed; we only swayed to the sides in a circle like motion. Many dragons and humans were watching us; some even bold enough to dance with the opposite species. I started to get a hang of it a bit, I was about to move again when I felt her lay her head on my shoulder. My heart skyrocketed, I felt a rumble on my shoulder; was she purring? I closed my eyes a bit as the song went on, moving to the beat of the soft drums in the back ground. When the song did end; did the dragoness then let me go and smiled. "Was that so bad?" she asked as I shook my head.

"No," I answered, "It was...well," I tried to find the words; my heart was still pumping hard in me as I found the word.

"New." She giggled as I chuckled a bit; smiling. It was weird, I was starting to like her more now, her laugh her smile; her eyes. Was...no this couldn't be love! I just met her today for god sake! But then I remembered the story of Romeo and Juliet how they only saw each other faces and fell in love with the other; like a baby wolf imprinting on his mother. Was this what I was feeling? True love firsts look?
