#1 of November Ad Lib Writing Challenge

Hello! Woof, it's been 2 years....Been a while, sorry for the radio silence, but here's hoping that this fun little challenge is a good kick for me to get back into writing. The challenge I'm speaking of could be found over at:https://www.sofurry.com/view/1779278#774884480

This is the starting for a month full of small mini prompts, and I'm hoping that chaos at work doesn't keep me from doing these. Hope you enjoy, and will be seeing you throughout this November!

The sounds of the market filled the air, merchants hawking their goods, the giggles and excited words of children, and the occasional words exchanged between merchant and customer. Edgewood was a decent sized village, and the last stop for travelers heading into the Orlenwood. The sounds begin dying down as the lowering sun started setting behind the towering trees in the distance.

Wandering through the village, a cloaked figure was making their way through the crowd, walking stick in paw gently clacking on the stone walkways. No one giving the figure much mind as they worked their way through the crowd. Rounding a few corners, the figure made their way to a rather innocuous looking building, a sign swaying above the door depicting a bull at a water trough, simple letters underneath read The Waterin' Hole.

Stepping in, the figure pulled their hood down, revealing the black furred canine that had been obscured before. White tipped ears flicking as he looked around the fairly quiet dining area of the inn. Cold blue eyes glancing over the other patrons, before meeting the gaze from the cow who was cleaning up one of the tables.

"Good evening sweety," the cow said, bright smile on her face. "What brings you to the Waterin' Hole?" The canine blinked a bit, looking to be brought out of a bit of a reverie.

"Hello," he responded, voice quiet. "Was hoping to get a room, maybe some food."

"Well sure, we can get you settled in." She turned towards the counter. "Gar, need you up front." There was a heavy grunt from somewhere out of sight, "Husband will be around here in a minute, he'll take care of you up at the bar."

"Thank you ma'am," He said nodding softly, before heading towards the counter. His eyes were drawn to the large ornate war hammer on display behind the counter. As he waited, the canine glanced around seeing the other guests that were quietly milling in and getting situated. Those white tipped ears flicking at the heavy hoof falls from behind the counter. Turning, he looks up at the large bull towering behind the counter.

"So what can I get you tonight?" The bull's deep voice almost resonating around the bar.

"Room and some food."

"Room we can do ye for, don't really serve meat here though," the bull said, stern look on his face.

"That's perfectly fine," The canine smiled up at him. "How much will it be?"

"Just stopping for the night, or going to be here for a while?"

The canine paused for a moment, thinking. "Not sure, don't have a whole lot of money. Was hoping to find some work while I was here."

"Work, huh?" The bull snorted softly. "Sure there's some bounties to be taken, but it'll be eight silver for dinner, room, and there will be breakfast in the morning."

"Well, I might have to ask you where to go for some of those in the morning," the canine said, pulling a pouch from inside his cloak. Digging through, he pulls out a single golden coin and sets it on the bar, earning a surprised look from the bull.

"Don't have much money, huh?"

"Not the most, but you've been very helpful," he says, chuckling and looking around. "And the quiet is nice."

"Well, it will be a bit longer till food is done," he reaches over to grab a key from under the bar, "and you're going to be in room ten, down the hall on the left." Before offering the key to the canine, he looked him over, "And what's your name, traveler?"

"Klandiro," the canine said, giving a friendly smile.
