Bzzzzzzzt!!! Bzzzzzzzt!!!

Adam lazily reached an arm out from under his blankets to swat at the alarm clock. With a swipe, he knocked the device from his bedside table onto the floor, where it landed with a thud. The alarm kept going.

"Piece of shit...", Adam swore, while reaching to pick up the clock and making a mental note to avoid taking any morning classes next term. "8 AM is no time for me to be awake!"

Rubbing his eyes, Adam stood up and flipped the light switch. The room was instantly flooded with a hatefully bright glow. As Adam picked up his jeans from the floor, his iPod fell from a pocket and a pin-up style picture of an anthro cat appeared on the screen. A subconscious urge prompted Adam to stare at the picture until it vanished from the screen a few seconds later. Damn... thought Adam. I need to stop leaving that thing without the screen lock! Sooner or later, SOMEBODY is gonna see!

Adam was a furry. There were no two ways about it. Since a young age, he had been captivated by furry artwork, and had collected images of an adult nature since he was a sophomore in high school. Adam had no knowledge that this made him stand out in any way until Junior year, while having a conversation about sexuality with his best friend Jared.

"What have you been smoking, dude? Only retards who have no chance with an actual girl get into shit like that!" Jared had said. Adam wanted so badly to tell him off, to tell him that there was nothing wrong with being a furry, and that it was enviable to be comfortable with your own true self. But he had held off, and kept himself from revealing a secret that he knew would have made him the town joke. Jared had mellowed out and become more open-minded since high school, but he knew society as a whole was much more critical.

The snooze alarm snapped Adam back out of his nostalgic reverie, and made him realize he had just been sitting on his bed staring into space for the past seven minutes. CRAP, he said to himself, scrambling to finish dressing. Adam left the house twenty minutes later, still taking bites of a breakfast burrito as he got out his car keys. The mid-March sun was already casting a warm blanket over the state of Oregon.

Almost three grueling hours later, Adam emerged from a lecture. Checking his phone, he saw a text message from Jared. "Me and Lucas r in student center. Come when u r done w class." Adam smiled, glad to be able to see his friends after such a boring presentation. Jared had been Adam's friend since their first year of high school, and they had both met Lucas during their previous year of college.

Adam walked in the door and saw his friends sitting at a table. They saw him as he walked over, and waved. "So how was your nap?" jibed Lucas, as he reached into a large bag of chips. "Very funny. How was sitting on your ass playing Call of Duty all morning?" Lucas rolled his eyes. "The internet connection here is crap. I kept lagging and losing to some ten-year-old." Jared laughed. "That's what you get! So Adam, how's our weekend looking?" "Weather looks great, I'll see you at the trailhead on Friday around 3."

Since graduating high school, Adam and Jared had made a habit of taking frequent backpacking trips through the foothills of Mt. Hood. Every third weekend in the spring, summer, and fall, the two were sure to find themselves miles from civilization. Just the way they liked it.

"Awesome! I just got a tip from the guy at the sporting goods store, we're going to take this really old trail nobody's been on in at least a year. Even the road that goes out there is deserted, but there's supposed to be some great scenery out there!" Adam smiled. "Sweet! But why does no one go there if it's so nice?" Jared made a derisive sound. "The guy said there was some bullshit story about some part of the forest out there being haunted..." Adam snorted. "Whatever, some jerk probably just made that up so other people wouldn't go through his favorite spot. All the better for us! You want to go on this one, Lucas?" "I can't, I've got family stuff to go to. Maybe the next one?" "Sure."

The three guys stood and picked up their bags. A quick round of high-fives was exchanged before they started walking away. "See you Friday!" "You too! Have fun with the family thing Lucas!" Lucas groaned. "We'll see if I survive. Stupid reunion..." They all shared a laugh.

Light flickered across the dashboard of Adam's SUV as he drove down a winding backcountry road. Muse's Take A Bow was playing quite loudly on the stereo. It had been at least two hours since he had put Portland in his rearview mirror, and most of the trip had been down twisty roads just like the current one. Adam had suggested that Jared just ride with him to the trailhead, but Jared was very proud of his car and took every opportunity to drive it. Adam rounded a corner and saw the car, a newer black Mustang, parked next to a faded sign that read "Trail Parking Only". Jared was standing outside, attaching all of the buckles on his large backpack.

Jared waved as Adam pulled up. Adam parked and got out, making sure to shut off all the lights. As he was getting his own backpack out of the car, Jared walked up behind him. "I see you made it in one piece!", he said sarcastically. Adam playfully punched him in the arm. "So, are we gonna get out of here before it gets dark?" "Why, are you afraid the haunted forest?" Jared punched him back. "You ass, just get your gear and let's go."

The two hiked for the rest of the afternoon, passing a couple of rushing streams and a calm, clear lake. When the sun was low in the sky, they decided to make camp. Finding a small clearing, they pitched their tents and made a small fire to boil some water. After an extended conversation about the celebrity women each guy would want to "get with", they secured their gear and went to sleep.

• • •

"Rise and shine!" Jared said from outside Adam's tent. "Let's go check out that 'haunted' forest!" Adam got dressed and they had a breakfast of bacon and reconstituted eggs. After filling their water bottles, the pair once again set off on the trail, their feet crunching on leaf litter. It was almost noon when they reached the supposedly "haunted" woods.

"Huh. Interesting, but nothing to write home about." Adam looked up. Across a meadow of dry, brown grass was a large thicket of very old fir trees that seemed just a little bit darker than the rest of the forest. "Doesn't seem to be anything haunted about it. Just some old trees!"

As Adam looked away, he caught a slight flicker of movement near one of the trees, and did a double take. Whatever had moved looked pretty big. "Did you see that?" asked Adam. "What are you talking about?" replied Jared. "Something moved by that tree right there, the one with all the shadowy bushes right next to it!" "Dude, you are so full of crap... Don't tell me you're getting superstitious on me!" "Really man, I swear I saw something!" "It was probably just a squirrel or something. Will you stop freaking out? It's the goddamn forest, of course there's going to be animals around. If anything dangerous comes around, I've got this bad boy." Jared gestured to the Colt .45 handgun he had strapped to his thigh. "I don't know man," said Adam, "Maybe we should've stuck with a frequented trail." "Will you relax? We'll be fine." "If you say so..."

As the duo turned to go back to their campsite, Adam had the uncanny feeling he was being watched, along with a strange sensation in his head he couldn't explain. He blamed it on fatigue and dehydration and kept hiking, though the feeling didn't subside. It felt alien to him, as if some other being was causing it.

Back at the campsite, Adam barely spoke a word during dinner. He insisted he wasn't feeling entirely well, and retired to his tent. As he lay encased in his sleeping bag, he could feel the sensation in his head shifting and swirling. He could swear it was getting stronger...

• • •

BANG! A gunshot. The resulting shockwave shook Adam awake.

He sat bolt upright, his arms flailing to extricate himself from his sleeping bag, and his heart pounding with adrenaline.

BANG!

Another gunshot echoed through the trees. As Adam yanked open the zipper to his tent, he saw Jared kneeling by the fire pit with his pistol up in a shooting position.

"What the hell is going on???" screamed Adam.

"I just saw some kind of animal," panted Jared, "something big--REALLY big. Could've almost been a small grizzly." "Where?" "Just up there, behind that log." Jared gestured to a large fallen tree about twenty yards away, its form silhouetted by the morning sun.

"What do you think it was?" asked Adam, his heart beginning to regain its normal pace. "Might've been a wolf," said Jared, holstering his gun, "But it was even a little too big for that. No way it was a deer, it was completely the wrong shape. Whatever it was, it's gone now. There isn't a forest creature alive that wants to tangle with a .45 slug." Adam wasn't totally convinced, but he trusted his friend to keep them safe. "Let's just hurry up and get out of here." "Amen to that."

They packed all of their gear as quickly as they could, and scattered the remnants of their fire before strapping on their packs. It was still early, Jared guessed it was close to 10:00 by the position of the sun. As they started to hike back up the trail, Adam had the unsettling realization that the sensation from the previous day was still there, growing ever stronger. He had forgotten all about it in the morning's excitement.

The miles of hiking seemed much quicker on the return journey, and by noon the guys found themselves back at the trailhead. Jared walked forward and put a hand on the roof of his car, breathing a sigh of relief. "We made it, man! This is one to tell your grandkids about!" "You can say that again," laughed Adam. "Hey, if you see that guy at the store again, the one that told you about this place, give him hell for me." Jared gave a dry chuckle. "Will do. Hey listen, I'm pretty well beat. I hope you don't mind if I take off, it's going to be a long drive as is." Adam caught the longing look he directed at his car. "Nah man, have a good one. I'll see you tomorrow!"

Jared dumped his backpack into the trunk, then got in the driver's seat. The engine started with a roar, and soon the sleek black car was hurtling down the road towards civilization. Adam walked to the back of his SUV, lifted the rear hatch, and set down his backpack. No sooner had the strap left his hand, when...

WHAM!

Something weighing almost as much as himself collided with Adam's right side, slamming him down onto the ground! His heart nearly exploded right then. Whatever had jumped on Adam was now moving furiously on top of him, and by some miracle didn't seem to be doing any real damage. Adam struggled, to no avail. All he could see was a flurry of steel grey and white fur, with black rosettes dotting the animal's back and tail. Before he had the chance to think WHAT THE HELL, the movement had stopped and Adam found himself pinned to the ground, one massive paw on each of his limbs. The animal brought its face right in front of Adam's, and he found himself staring into the icy blue eyes of a large snow leopard.

Panic engulfed Adam's entire being. The rational part of his brain was going a mile a minute, asking questions like "how did a snow leopard get here" and "why am I not dead right now". The part of his brain more concerned with survival took over, and Adam resumed struggling and let out a very loud scream. The snow leopard responded by opening its mouth and hissing right in his face. The screaming stopped. Adam could do nothing but stare into the big cat's eyes. As he did, he could see something there, and he knew that this was no ordinary animal.

Adam's heart was still racing, and he could feel the cold sweat of pure, primal fear all over his body. Above these sensations, the feeling in his head had returned. It was now impossible to ignore. It slowly dawned on him that what he felt was coming from this cat. The snow leopard saw the change in Adam's expression and started purring, a low, wild sound that vibrated through his still-pinned limbs. There was a surge through his mind...

Now utterly transfixed, forgetting the large feline perched on top of him, Adam followed the feeling in his head. In his mind, Adam located the spot where the cat's mind was trying to connect with his own.

It was as if a door had opened up inside Adam's thoughts. Now in addition to his own, he could sense bits of the thoughts and emotions flowing through the mind of the snow leopard! The cat purred even louder on top of him, reawakening him to his situation. The sense he gleaned seemed to say "now you get it!"

Sensing that the fear had been replaced by puzzlement in Adam's mind, the big cat stepped off of him, then sat back on its haunches. He managed to sit up, still staring into its eyes. Before he could get any of his thoughts together, the snow leopard spoke. Not through its mouth, of course, but directly into Adam's head.

"Sorry I had to get your attention that way, you never would have stayed still if I had simply walked up. I also had to wait for that companion of yours to leave." The voice was incredibly smooth and sensual, with just a hint of a wild animal's growl. Despite the somewhat alien sound, it was clearly the tone of a young woman. The words flowed like cream through Adam's mind, with a mental color just like the animal's underbelly fur. She continued to speak.

"Allow me to introduce myself -- My name is Lyra." As she said it, a wordless feeling of inexplicable familiarity went through Adam's mind, and his heart skipped a beat. He had regained his composure, and spoke to Lyra out loud. "I... My name is Adam, pleased to meet you!" He was now staring at her with a look of complete wonder. "You are without any doubt the most incredible thing I have ever seen!" Adam continued, his eyes still sparkling. He had managed to sit on a small rock, but found himself unable to stand.

Despite the lack of human facial features, Adam could see that Lyra was smiling from the praise. A low hum emanated from her chest. "Naturally, you must be curious as to where I came from and why I am here," Lyra said in her creamy, honeyed voice. Adam nodded. "Alright. I was born in Siberia, where I lived in the wild for a brief period with my mother. I had been a thinking being since birth, for no explicable reason, and assumed all other creatures were as well. I eventually discovered that I could extend my mind to link with others, and was appalled to find an emptiness in the minds of my family. It was as if they were all drones, possessing only enough willpower to find food and mates."

Adam readjusted his position, his mind working to envision the scene Lyra was describing. She took a deep, throaty breath and continued. "I was distraught. I was in such shock that all I could do was wander the tundra, depressed, hopelessly trying to find another intelligent creature. I had stopped eating, and was close to collapse when they found me." "Who found you?" Adam interjected. "A pair of American researchers on an expedition. They came across me as I feebly tumbled in the snow. I attempted to touch their minds, and was overjoyed to sense the purposeful patterns of intelligent thought. Finally, I thought I had found more like myself! I regained my will to live, and chose to follow the strange people."

"Clearly though, they did not see my cooperation; they put me into a cage, and took me back to their outpost. By reaching out to their minds, I could sense their intentions, and so I wasn't fearful. They only sought to nurse me back to health. Despite their good intentions, however, I was wary of communicating with them. Weeks later, I was fully healthy, and they sent me over the sea to this country. I was put on exhibit in the Oregon Zoo, where I lived for nearly a year before growing tired of the repetitive schedule and unchanging food."

Adam frowned. "If you were locked up there, how did you end up all the way out here?" Lyra smiled again and flicked her thickly furred tail. "Through a bit of trickery. The people in the zoo knew what to expect from regular animals, but me... They didn't stand a chance. I waited until I saw my opportunity, and ran out the door. I didn't stop running until I was far outside of that place. In the distance I could see a snow-covered mountain, and I knew I must go there. I eventually came to a suitable spot in the foothills, and made it my home."

The look of wonder on Adam's face had turned into a look of great respect. "You have come so far..." Adam mused. "Of all the people to whom you could have revealed yourself, why me?" A new feeling came briefly through their mental link. It was a very animalistic feeling; before Adam could explore it, Lyra banished it. The mental flavor of it left Adam wanting--no, NEEDING--more. He could feel Lyra chastising herself. She seemed to say to herself No, not yet... Before Adam could ask any more questions, Lyra continued.

"You see, like most other thinking beings, I eventually developed my own unique... tastes. I understand there are those among your species who would desire an animal as a mate over another human?" Adam blushed, as Lyra had just brushed over his deepest secret. "I see you know what I mean. Well, I have a similar desire. Unlike the rest of my species which are all solitary animals, with my sentience came the undeniable need for a lifelong companion who shared my desires. In addition to the fact that no other snow leopard could satisfy this need, I found I felt much more attracted to those of your species. With this realization, I had planned to search all the nearby civilizations for a suitable partner. I was lucky enough to have you walk right up to my home before I ever left! As soon as I touched your mind, I could feel the harmony. I would have let you go and approached you at a later time, but I found I was unable. Before we had even connected, my mind had melded with yours. I know you must have felt this."

Adam's heart began racing as the impact of what Lyra was saying sank in. She... No, it's impossible... This is just too unreal! Is there even a chance...? Lyra gleaned the meaning of his thoughts, and rose to her paws. "We are meant to be partners. You may not fully realize it, but it is clear in my eyes. I can sense your emotions, and I know you are not deterred by my form."

More and more of the "flavor" of her mind was coming through, and he could feel it was nothing like a human mind. She was clearly still an animal, though one capable of intelligent thought. She felt wild and untamed; Anything she wanted, Adam was certain she would either receive or take by force. Lyra started padding slowly towards him, speaking as she walked ever closer. "I know you feel the same as I do. I have chosen you to be my mate, and I shall have no other so long as I live."

"I..." Adam began, but before he could finish, Lyra had pounced across the last few feet and landed back on top of him. She stifled his speech by placing her jaws across his mouth. Adam could feel the very tips of her claws tickle his sides as her forepaws spasmed. For an instant he felt fearfully dominated, and the feeling made him want her even more! Lyra took the lead, probing every corner of Adam's mouth with her raspy tongue. He savored every second, taking in each minute detail. How her body temperature was warmer than his, particularly in her mouth; how the soft spines on the top of her tongue raked across every surface it could reach; the moist, somewhat sweet, and above all wild smell and taste of her saliva.

Adam now had a painfully hard erection. The drops of moisture on his leg and the sweet smell of sex told him that Lyra was terribly aroused as well, but she wasn't done yet. Lyra forced her tongue ever deeper into his mouth, wrestling with his tongue, until she was tasting the back of his throat. All he could do in return was try to avoid choking, and savor the predatory tastes of her slimy saliva. She kept going, and Adam felt her large, pointed teeth poke his cheeks near the back of his jaw and her cold, moist nose on his left ear. After what felt like forever, Lyra finally released Adam's face. She sat on the ground next to him, panting and dripping saliva, and let him catch his breath.

After a minute, Adam could breathe enough to speak again. "I do want you, SO much... I want to be with you for the rest of my life!" Lyra acknowledged this with a seductive, toothy smile. "Let's consider this our wedding! Now take your clothes off and I'll start the first night of the rest of our lives..."

Lyra didn't have to say it twice. Adam was stripped to his underwear in thirty seconds. Lyra tugged impatiently at his waistband with her teeth, his erection growing ever more painful with the touch of her nose on his bare stomach. As soon as he was free, Lyra took a long look at his eight-inch member, then gave it a long, rasping, lick. Adam's eyes rolled back as he gasped, completely involuntarily. The shiver that went up his spine was so strong, it knocked him to the ground. Lyra finished the lick by flicking the tip of her tongue over the end of his head, then placed her forepaws on top of his shoulders and forced Adam to lay all the way down on the ground.

She then sank down to rest her chest on his. Adam marveled at how silky her belly fur was, and how warm he suddenly felt. Wet drops of her sex cream landed on his crotch, their thick scent further elevating Adam's arousal. Lyra looked right into Adam's eyes, then plunged the lips of her sex straight down onto Adam's rock-hard shaft. He gasped loudly, surprised by the warmth and natural lubrication of her pussy. Lyra then began to purr deeply, and Adam could feel the intense vibrations from his chest all the way down to and encompassing his cock. He moaned softly, and she placed a forepaw over his mouth. The subtle, salty smell of sweaty fur and paw-pad filled Adam's nostrils, turning him on even further. Every aspect of Lyra's being seemed to arouse him in some new and fantastic way!

Lyra then began to use her inner muscles on Adam's shaft. He resisted it with every ounce of his will, but the warm, slick, rippling feeling sent him over the edge before he could stifle himself. He came forcefully into her, sending what felt like at least a pint of his seed up into her body. She started purring even louder, and spoke softly into his mind. "Oh, you're not finished yet. We BOTH have to be satisfied! We'll have to work on your stamina..." After she got done pumping Adam dry, Lyra slowly let his softening dick slide through her now-sopping fur and out of her vagina. As his head came out, a string of his seed mixed with her feline juices stretched between it and her sex lips and hung there for a second before breaking and falling into her fur. The scent of sex was a cloying fog around them.

Without pause, Lyra reversed her position on top of Adam, putting them in a 69 position. "We've got to get you back up!" she purred, and began to suck on his shiny, fluid-covered member. The feeling of her giving an afterglow blowjob was intense! It was almost agonizing to be so thoroughly stimulated so soon after his release, but at the same time he was loving every bit. Her maw was hotter than before, and Adam could feel the rasp of her tongue carefully cleaning off all of their combined juices. It aroused him anew to think of her swallowing it all.

Lyra gave a meaningful shake of her hips right in front of Adam's face, sending drops of liquid flying onto his skin. He was too glazed in pleasure to take her meaning, so she dropped her rear closer to him. He realized what she wanted him to do, and began to suck all of the cream out of the fur around her sex. As he did, Lyra pushed her head down further over his rod, sending his head to the back of her throat and touching her wet nose to his sack. Adam's back arched involuntarily, causing him to smash his face into her behind. He could sense her amusement; if her mouth wasn't otherwise occupied, she would have laughed. He now began to really give it to her, reaching as far into her musky sex with his tongue as he could. She gave a little moan, sending a hot blast of air over his cock. Lyra was delicious. Her flavor was like nothing Adam had ever experienced before! She was sweet, mildly salty, very musky, and somewhat pungent all at once. Adam promised himself he would do this again as soon as possible.

As they continued in their passionate way, Adam continued to get more horny; he was rock-hard again before long. Lyra sucked and licked all of her saliva off his shaft, and turned to face him once again. "This time for real! Give it all you've got, I'm still not done." Adam was sweating and breathing heavily, and could only nod as a response. She sat over him with her hindpaws on the ground by his hips and her forepaws folded on his chest, and gave his face a long, cum-scented lick. With a little wink, she lowered her hips and impaled herself once more on his cock, making a slight squelch sound. The pair moaned in unison, Lyra's moan turning into a constant low growl that drove Adam wild. Oh my god that is sexy...

The snow leopard wasted no time; no sooner had Adam penetrated her, she began to move her hips up and down, driving the pulsing rod deep into herself with each stroke. Restricted as his movement was, Adam tried to work with her to develop a rhythm. Lyra gave a quick mew of approval, then returned to her previous growl.

After a minute they had a solid rhythm, both partners moaning ever louder as the pace quickened. Something had changed since the last time, though... Now, Adam was beginning to feel more of Lyra's mind come through; he could sense her pleasure, and he tried his best to send his own feelings to her. Apparently it worked, as Lyra's tail gave a flick and she opened up her mental floodgates. Adam gasped as the full force of her arousal and pleasure poured into his mind, then released his own mind to flow freely. Their combined ecstasy swirled through their heads, and suddenly each knew exactly what to do for the other.

Adam drove himself deep, sensing when he had found the feline's sweet spot, and Lyra tuned herself to his movements. They continued, both breathing hard, the hot, heavy scent of sex doubling with each move of their hips. The swirl of pure sexual thrill was getting unbearably strong in their minds; their already furious motions doubled as they both neared a climax.

Finally, it was too much. The rush in Adam and Lyra's mind seemed to stop still for an instant, then crash over them both as they orgasmed in unison. What an incredible feeling it was! Lyra let out a tremendous roar as she climaxed, her tail writhing through the air in spasms and her claws digging hard into the ground. She fell to the ground beside Adam, and as she lay there at least half a gallon of her steaming, scent-laden honey shot forth from her sex to saturate Adam's bare stomach. As the big cat fell away, he was still bucking and moaning, his recently exposed and very red penis shooting load after load of sticky white seed into the bushes, Lyra's belly fur, and his own face.

They were a sight to see; each one covered in the various fluids of their lover, breathing hard to the point of pain, and sprawled out the forest floor. The two of them fainted where they lay and fell into a deep sleep, reliving the action in their dreams.

Adam awoke some hours later to find Lyra giving him a tongue-bath, and he envied her savoring the leavings of their earlier lovemaking. Lyra saw that he had awoken, and gave him a big feline smile. "Good morning, lover! I see you've thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon!" Adam laughed weakly, and Lyra continued to lick him clean. He noticed she had already cleaned herself. How beautiful she is... thought Adam, I am the luckiest god-damn person on the planet!

In the reddening glow of the evening sun, Lyra's silver fur had taken on a golden sheen. She sat by as Adam re-dressed himself, silently admiring his form as well. I must be the luckiest snow leopard alive! thought Lyra, purring softly to herself and looking very pleased.

Adam sat in the back of his SUV, and motioned for Lyra to join him. She jumped up and lay on her back, her head in Adam's lap and her icy blue eyes meeting his golden brown ones. He placed his hand on her upturned belly and rubbed through her fur, admiring its thick, warm silkiness. Lyra purred quietly and allowed him to continue, contentedly shifting her back legs a little. Adam continued to admire her body, from the light pink of her nose to the thick fur on her paws and tail, and every ebony rosette in between.

Lyra was the first to break the silence. "So, was I your first?" she crooned, keeping their eyes connected. Adam paused, caught off guard. "...Yes, you were." he said sheepishly. Lyra's tail twitched in delight. "I had a feeling. I'm glad we could share this with each other!" Adam frowned slightly. "Share this? Surely you must have had others, you were so sure of yourself!" Lyra gave a small snort and smiled up at Adam's face. "Don't forget, I may have the intelligence of a human, but my mind and body are still that of a wild animal. My instincts tend to determine my behavior in unfamiliar situations. It is how I have survived until now" Adam nodded, and began again to dwell on the strangeness of his mate's circumstance.

"It is getting late," said Adam after a moment of silence. Indeed, the sky had turned a brilliant fiery orange as the sun was setting. "I have a life I must return to tomorrow." Lyra turned over and rose to her paws, drew her head level with his, and leaned in very close. Looking him deeply in the eyes, she said "A life that will never again be the same!" Adam pressed his face right against hers, and squeezed her body in a tight hug. "I wouldn't have it any other way, my beautiful snow leopardess!" Lyra sounded her agreement.

Ending the embrace, the newfound lovers stepped down, and Adam helped Lyra to sit in the passenger's seat. He then went to the other side and got into the driver's seat. He looked over at her, and a cascade of things he wanted to say to her flooded his mind. Instead, he leaned over and they shared a long, deep, and infinitely passionate kiss before Adam started the engine. The two drove down the deserted highway into the sunset, its golden glow complementing the radiant pure love flowing between the newlyweds. Adam grasped one of Lyra's forepaws and raised it, then glanced over into her eyes. "To the end of two lives, and the beginning of another!"
