#33 of Syngeneia Kathairein

You like dark fantasy, dragons, adventure and a bit of romance?

You want to see the work of a professional video game writer?

You find AI's interesting?

This story of mine has all of that! Syngeneia Kathairein puts you in the shoes of Entropion, a purple dragon tasked to ''make the world right again''. (although he is a jackass in this prequel intro!) The view is set in first person view from Entropion's POV. This story is inspired by warcraft, forgotten realms, spyro the dragon and dragon age, among other things. AIdungeon's makeup is a bit messy, but > arrows denote saying or doing something. Part of the story is AI generated, please keep that in mind.

I have to juggle this with my actual game dev work, 20+ min pages, even with PC typing, will be a rarity. I work on this every other day now, how you enjoy it.

You wake up in an ice tube, underground. it's pitch black and Disarria speaks to you softly while putting her arms around you. ''Enty? are you... waking?'' you were in a delirium, seems Disarria has helped you reach this shelter. You are still alive, and that is what matters. You look at Disarria, or well, the dark where you feel her presence... and you feel really comforted by the fact she saved you. The score is really tallying in her favor it seems! and if you have to put up with her, then you will. You'll do your best to help her become a great leader, just like you yourself are meant to become. That's why you're here after all, right? ''You're awake!'' > You say "Yes... I did relive some old... memories Ones I hoped to have kept locked away in my subconscious mind... do you know anything about a demon dragon turning an entire island of the black dragon archipelago into a dead wasteland?" Disarria moves away from you, and you see her silhouette. Your eyes are still not used to the darkness. "I know nothing about it. Nothing but stories. The black dragons are cruel beings who enjoy seeing others in pain... I wouldn't be surprised if it were true." Makes sense they kept things from her, as they did with you. You were hoping for some answers. Why did you see those memories? What does it all mean? > You say "Dis, the south pole.... that mountain that pierces into the oxygen deprived part of our atmosphere.... I can feel it, it is the point where all magical energy flows towards our planet to spread out. Isn't it? " She nods, noticing that you are already preparing yourself to stand. "It is. It's also the dead of winter there all year round, and the air pressure makes it impossible to fly there. It can be reached on foot though, but it'll take us weeks to get there." > You say "Days, we are magic users. don't you feel the ley-lines like veins on your hand? these lines all point towards one central point. " She seems confused, she probably has never been asked such questions, let alone by someone who is supposed to be her equal. "Well, yes. They do." You nod in response. "Then we can use these lines like route markers and do this way quicker than most do." She once again nods.

>You say "One problem.... it's a permanent night for this half of the year and it's so cold outside this ice tube you guided me to that we will become raspberry popsicles if we set a foot outside, it's only going to get worse the closer we get to our goal." "We're magic users, we can use cold energy to live!" Disarria exclaims, a bit too loudly, making you wince. "The cold doesn't bother you at that point!" "I'm a dragon, Dis. Let's just say my internal temperature is set to 'Dragon' and leave it at that." You chuckle. "Well, the choice is not yours I'm afraid!" She quips. You nod, and begin to meditate in order to depersonalize from your emotional state. This can't be healthy for the mind.... > You use frost magic on yourself to drain all heat from you and become frost-based, slowly, and fight to stay awake. Once the natural fire is gone from you, you begin to focus the frost magic to yourself. You focus, and you can feel your internal temperature dropping. You aren't sure at what point it happens, but you can feel that the very blood in your veins is now frost-based. Your skin is cold enough to cause snow to touch it. You are a being of pure frost now. And then you pass out. You awaken with a startle, but Disarria is already awake and standing by you. "I thought you'd never wake up. Had to save your ass for... fourth time since we met I think? you aren't to blame, you are an emotional creature.'' at least her intervention made it complete. > You say "so, being frost based means strong emotions are no longer a possibility and that heat will actually harm us or what, Dis?" "Yes. It also means we're tougher than before." She looks at you. "You ready for the journey?" "Yep!" You answer, as you stand up in the cold air. The snow is ankle deep, but your feet do not sink in it, as if you are walking on air. Everything is still pitch black, but you and Disarria trek through the ice wastes. > You say "that... feeling... it's back. as if I am a ghost in my own body, or a spectator... you know what I mean?" "Yeah, I feel it too." Disarria says with a frown. "I think it's safe to say that your soul isn't properly connected to your body, because your body is now a being of frost and snow." "So what then? I just accepted that I have no control over my own fate?" Disarria sighs ''it won't kill us. physically...'' wander the frozen wasteland, follow the ley lines with Disarria towards your destination. You will reach the end of this journey. "I think it's that way!" You point to the right. Disarria just sighs and rolls her eyes, but she knows you're right. You follow the direction you pointed to. The landscape changes from ice and snow to tundra and plains. The end of the world peak slowly rolls into view, sticking above the curvature of the world.... even though it's a black silhouette, stands out in the night sky. > You say "deceptive, isn't it? it'll take a day at least to get to the base of the mount itself. " "uh, yep." The journey takes a while. You sit on the ground and watch the peak. It's a long, long way up to the top of the world. You feel as if you're in a trance, staring at that peak. You don't know how long you've been sitting here. "Hey!" Disarria snaps her fingers in front of your face. "You with me?" She asks. You blink and shake your head. "Yeah." eventually you reach the foot of the mountain, and start going up. it's an easy trek for the beginning of it but gets steeper and steeper. both you and Disarria got sleet ice growing on you.... but despite the cold, you feel surprisingly warm. Must be your ice form. > You say "This is just a long endurance run, isn't it now? I wonder when we will reach the true south pole, it is said to be on top and so high that even a breath freezes.... dry ice. " "Yeah." The view is beautiful. White all around you, and the moon shining, giving everything a blue-ish tint. You can see for miles and miles. The wind blows, giving you a break from the otherwise constant cold. You take a deep breath and enjoy the sights and sounds of the mountainside. "We should keep moving," Disarria says. It gets colder and colder, but seeing how you are extremely powerful beings by destiny this trek is already easier than it should be. you are making the home stretch as you come across an ice cave with ancient blue dragon architecture. perfectly conserved. You can see the end of the tunnel. There is no light except for that of your own bodies. you both enter the large cavern at the end of the tunnel.

You see a single dragon sitting there, meditating. This dragon is an ancient being, with scales as white as fresh fallen snow and eyes like the deep ocean. "Hello," he says. "I have been expecting you." > You say "wow. you must be millennia old... You are a white dragon elder, only one rank below the thrones themselves. correct?" "Indeed. I am an elder, that is correct. I am the last living one in this world, in fact. The rest are all dead, killed by the hands of the shadows. We were not prepared for their attacks, for we had never seen anything like them before. They came from the sky and began their crusade to wipe out all dragons." The dragon stops speaking for a moment, looking at you both. ''your hearts are pure, purple dragons, but you are chimeric. souls not from this world. It matters little, just like Catharsion you can be heroes. Can... Dire times indeed, maybe something unrelated to Syngeneian divinity altogether is the only thing to stop Apocalion once again. Take this beacon lens to the top, the land will know you are successful in the trial.'' The old white dragon winks ''even if you were way too overqualified!'' You nod, and Disarria takes the lens on her back. The both of you race to the top of the mountain. the ice is.... different here indeed. You are an ice being, so the amount of Oxygen you need is nothing compared to what you normally do, however, you must still conserve the traces you get. Disarria places the lens on the peak top... The mountain begins to rumble as a large blue beam of light shines out from the lens and into the sky. "It... It is done," Disarria pants, falling to her knees. "No," you say, "It is far from done." You can feel it.... You can feel your power returning. You can feel the world around you change. You can sense the magic flowing through the air, through your body, and altering reality all around you. Without your prior knowledge, the top of the world is a giant directional teleporter and Disarria put the lens in the wrong way! You are shot upward to the asteroid ring around the planet! this is the home of the violet dragons. a place with directional gravity and bizarre alien flora and fauna.... But no dragons. Yet. You and Disarria are the first to arrive, your bodies smashing into the ground with a thunderous impact. You look around. There is an odd multi-colored field here, with strange symbols moving around them. You do not recognize the writing, but you can understand some of the symbols, enough to see that they show two dragons flying through space toward this exact spot. Then another dragon, a violet one with strange red eyes appears in front of you. > You say "ugh my head.... who.... who are you? where are we?" ''Sitlalmaxitlastli, the heavenly rings. We don't get visitors often.'' The violet dragon tilts her head in curiosity. ''are we.... cousins? not literal, I mean.... Purple dragon? Like us you are of the Warchief'' the dragoness has a very gender neutral demeanor about them, it's clear that much like Nalomuzo, violets don't bicker about gender roles. Disarria's face goes pale. ''the heavenly rings? are we... on the rings? of Syngeneia?!'' it certainly seems so. The violet dragon laughs. "You could say that, yes. Now, who are you?" Disarria is still in shock. "I am Disarria of the purple dragons. This is Entropion of the purple dragons as well." The violet dragon laughs again. "A strange name, I'm sure it has a story, but I am glad to meet you both." > You say "Black dragon naming conventions, about that, what do you go by? something ancient I presume. " "Mazatl. It's my name." "That's..... Odd, what does it mean?" The violet dragon looks at you. "It's my name. It means me." You are confused by the answer, but the violet dragon continues without prompting. "I was born here, on the rings. There is no need for another name here, we are all the same. I am a child of the rings, as they are children of me." > You say "I understand, we are a product of the world but we leave behind a slightly different one. that's why this Warchief spliced us in particular Mazatl, have you ever been down to Syngeneia surface? " "No, and I don't have any reason to either. My brethren live here, my children live here and I live here. My place is here."

Mazatl looks at you expectantly. ''we kinda came here by accident.... that giant mountain full of ley energy? yeah, it doubles as an extremely potent teleporter.'' Mazatl smirks, or what you assume is a smirk... ''Everything happens with a reason. the cosmic plan may not be absolute, but just like glue it has a direction to guide you towards.'' You nod. she gestures you to follow and you do so, after a while you climbed a hill and overlook.... you can see the planet from here. > You say "Wow.... that is, Syngeneia? I can see Ietros! this is... just... wow.... ... Probably the most beautiful thing I will ever see in my life. " " I know right? " Mazatl grins and points to the horizon. " over there, you can see my children, all of them. Children of the rings, one day they will leave it too, but for now they are still part of it. And then... up there....." She points up to the rings themselves. You gasp at the sight. The rings are so big that you can barely see their curvature. > You say "where will they go for their adulthood? " ''Annihilatora, the realm of the Warchief. You see, we are tortured souls... I can feel it in you too, purple dragonkin.'' Mazatl looks in Disarria's eyes, whom has been surprisingly silent so far. Disarria nods slowly ''Yes... yes we are, but isn't most of Syngeneia?'' Mazatl sighs. ''Indeed. why do you think master has us live up here? free of Apocalion's corruption. That is why only very few selects can go down there.'' You know one of these ''select few'' Nalomuzo! > You say "I know one of these scouts, Nalomuzo. he is stuck in Volecia and we had to take back his mutation catalyst. Violet dragon tech he said." "Ah yes, Nalomuzo. He is one of the most gifted scouts I ever had the pleasure of working with. he is also a very nice dragon, we actually share the same year of birth! but enough about me, tell me, how do you feel?'' > You say "well, Disarria here usually cracks sarcastic quips but she seems to have a bit of an..... introspective evolution going on it seems. Myself? well.... it will probably hit me in a few days and I will have my own little crisis myself. " "Yes, yes, that is normal, Catharsion had to acclimatize himself you know? The vastness of space will probably make you re-evaluate your purpose in life. Actually, it is a good thing, it means you are growing as a person. I only wonder why you were sent her by the fickle hand of the universe.... not to protect you, that is certain, purple dragons are super-weapons on legs.'' > You say "say, you are a matron, and those are usually also high priestesses. hm... Disarria? speak up, could this be about those 4 schools of hidden magic?" Disarria speaks up ''makes sense, these magic schools are not naturally found on the planet.'' you look back at Mazatl. Mazatl nods.

''is going to be quite the flight! careful planet-dwellers, only violet dragons got the power to breathe or fly in space and the only thing keeping gravity and thus air on these asteroids are minerals we call ''Eximite'' their power wanes quickly! don't fly too high, Icarus!'' You and Disarria are a bit scared by the prospect of suffocation, and follow the matron close to the ground, but above the strange flora and fauna.... all chimeric, from all over the universe. after a while you arrive at your location, it's obviously some sort of teleporter. the hexagonal plate sits on the ground with basalt shaped spires made out of a purple metal... Mazatl walks over to the plate. ''star-children, join me!'' she roars, and you and Disarria follow suit, walking up to the plate. Once in position, the three of you materialize in a flash of purple light. You are now in a large room with a glass floor looking at a massive machine below you, it seems to be made up of two rings, one within the other, turning slowly, with strange patterns etched into the metal. The rings are spinning counter-clockwise and clockwise respectively. Disarria looks at the contraption carefully, ''mhm, teleportation matrix. that's a biggie!'' you join her in speculation. ''maybe so things won't get teleported to a static position and drift into space?'' The violet dragoness nods. ''clever creatures... cosmic intuition serves you well. This is a teleportation hub. Look above the doorways! Above each, there is a big, crystal-shaped slot. Fill all five crystal slots in this warp room by retrieving one crystal from each of the five areas. Only after we have filled all of the slots in this room can we continue on our quest.'' typical. you have to run some weird ass trial to get home, however, you and Disarria are excited. will you finally get to actually USE the shadow schools of magic and obtain them for yourself? maybe. > You say "well then, Disarria? shall we proceed and enter a portal then? " Disarria looks at you and nods. She's a little unsure of herself, which is odd for her to display. Nonetheless, the pair of you step into one of the doorways, ready to explore this new area. You find yourself in a valley, no... a ravine. you are at the bottom. Magenta grass and bright, cyan light are what you see. the rock walls are black rock. a dodecahedron floats in front of you and Disarria.. the object is watermelon sized and just hovers and rotates there. > You say "Looks like anti-magic energy, doesn't it? " Disarria nods. ''yes, it does... let's walk around and see what we can find.'' you both get up and begin to walk around the area. You notice that the walls are not just Black, they are also White and Grey and every other color as well... slowly morphing into those colors while being Black at their core. It's a strange thing to see. Suddenly, you hear a sound, like that of a hundred people screaming with pain. > You rush to the dodecahedron, and siphon it empty with dark siphon. The dodecahedron slowly begins to lose it's color, fading into a dark, deep purple. the screams of the tormented die down. some residual energy flows to Disarria as well and you feel you got a new power; anti-magic.
