One for you, One for me

#10 of Pokè-Treat

Moon groaned but did so without argument. A moment later, they stood there at the base of the tree at the hole that was the ground floor. Moon pushed away from Jason and placed herself between him and an unknown being. He turned slowly as she let her fur stand on end. He crossed his arms and stared at a black haired, fair skinned man. Beside him stood a Gallade with a rose weaved into his fine fur on his left shoulder. Both bowed gallantly then the Gallade stepped forward.

"I presume you are Jason?" He spoke in Pokè.

"You presume correctly."

"The gods have declared you a savior. We are here to help you build your army."

"Army!? I am not building an army of any kind."

"Not yet, but you will." The man spoke quietly.

Jason found it eerie that both males had nearly the same voice tone. "Then why hasn't Mew told me to build one? Or one of the Unnamed?"

"Because that is our task." They spoke in unison sending Jason's impression further down the 'Freaky Train'.

"Mew! I won't trust them until you tell me yourself!" Jason shouted truly doubting them, he had yet to meet any opposition about his quest.

A crack of thunder sounded, a fireball exploded away from the group. From the fire, floated the pink mew. Lisa gasped loudly, Moon relaxed and backed away to Jason's side.

"Do not doubt the trust the Unnamed has put into you, warrior. These are teachers from a monastery in the far reaches of the world. I bade them to come and teach those who can learn, you will need help." The tiny mouth barely moved but the voice boomed loudly against Jason's ears.

"Thank you. I just do not wish to risk my quest on random visitors coming around me. I have yet to learn of an enemy."

"You will meet one of them soon enough. Then you will learn." The Mew vanished before Jason could say another word.

He grumbled then looked back at the two. "So you know me, but I don't know you."

"I am Mitch," Said the man. "He is Ditch."

Where's the bitch? Moon telepathically said to Jason with a chuckle to follow.

He growled. "Moon, don't make me wash out your mouth with soap."

"Sorry, sir."

"Well Trainer Mitch, welcome to my haven. I'll warn you now, there are things from the last... owner here that I have not had the chance to fix. So control yourself, they are a little... sheltered."

"They?"

Jason sighed and blushed. "Females of many species... including ours. The last Master of the domain was a slaver. He's been captured, so no worries of his return unless I let him out of his ball."

"What a minute, you're saying a Pokèmon was a slaver?" Ditch questioned.

"A Salamence, I doubt I ever will take him out of storage for what he has done."

The Gallade shivered.

"Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Come, we need to get things settled then."

They went in and were greeted by a bouncing Azumarill with a slight bulge in her stomach. Lisa stuck her tongue out at Jason then compared her own stomach to the other expectant mother. They both laughed wholeheartedly as they patted each other's fast growing bulge. They then went ahead of the group to the main lobby where Lisa called out Rickerts, he hissed out muffled profanities as he rubbed his eyes. Once the other two Trainers came into the room, they too let out their remaining Pokèmon. Mitch released a Growlithe bitch and a Ponyta colt who still unsure of his feet.

"Sweet Ponyta, did you get him while coming here?"

"He was abandoned by the road. His Pokèball was shattered beside him. Ditch took him in, I had no other choice but to capture him."

"Azu, can you take the little one to the nursery and dig him up some milk or something?"

"Azu? Are you naming me?"

Ditch translated the comment for his Trainer then watched carefully.

"Well, yeah, I guess."

She ran up to Jason and clamped onto his hips. Then she ran over to the skittish Ponyta and talked him into coming with her, wasn't hard to do once she mentioned food.

"You actually named her without catching her?" Lisa asked as she watched the Water type climb the stairs slowly as the young Fire type followed carefully.

"Technically all of them here are captured, this place made me the Master. I just won't fall for the temptations the others have... at least I will fight it as long as I can. Speaking of temptations, could I ask you if you would love a challenge?"

"And take that wretch of a Dragon type? Why not, at least Grace and I will have our own ride for a change."

"Thanks." Jason sighed internally. "Hey Mitch, do you have a signal on your Phone App for your PokèNav?"

"Don't have one?"

"Well, I guess I'll take a ride above the tree line later. Clair, Lisa, go ahead and head for our room and get those eggs comfy. I rather have the parents be around them while they mature for the next week until they hatch. Champ, I need you to run a flyby of this tree, see if you cannot see a place we can adapt into a landing pad for a large group."

"Okay, but why?"

"Apparently it is my destiny to become a war general."

Champ snorted then walked out.

"Ouch..."

"You aren't physic." Ditch gave him a glare.

"Nope, but I know him far too well not to know when he disapproves of my actions. Let's get you and your family settled, shall we? Nidoqueen, come here please."

They waited only a short minute before the Nidoqueen fell from the upper level to greet the house master.

"Ah, there you are. Would you show our guests to a room, please, then start a meal for them?"

She bowed then smiled at the Gallade. He nodded then looked over his shoulder at his Trainer who followed quietly. Jason sighed before turning and leaving the tree. Once outside, he found a high arched root that made a good seat then sat down. He looked up just in time to see Champ fly another lap around the tree. He let out a shrill whistle, the Charizard hovered briefly then dove downward. He landed after a thirty second drop and just stared at his Trainer. Jason got up and gave him a hug.

"Come on, let's go for a flight. I need to make a quick call if I can get a signal then we can talk."

"First, I want to know what the 'war general' bit is about."

"Hoooh, I being 'chosen' by Mew and the Pokèmon with no names to be a savior. I have been given the opportunity to fight for those who cannot fight back. Who I am fighting against, I do not know yet. But I do assume they are worse than the Teams Magma, Aqua, or even the Rockets, so if you got a better idea of what to do and piss off the higher powers..."

"Ahh, no. No, I don't have anything better."

"Didn't think so, especially since we aren't going for the gyms."

"Yeah... let's go..." Champ bent down and splayed his wings.

Jason climbed on making sure his feet stepped lightly on the Charizard's scales. Once he laid on the male's back, the fire dragon took to the air quickly. They soared passed the ancient limbs, through giant bushels of giant leaves. At one point, Jason swore he spotted a Sudowoodo or two up in the up growths where he knew they did not belong.

Finally they broke through, they leveled then turned to watch the sun creep to its resting point. They both gave a relaxed sigh then let the warm air below keep them aloft. Jason's phone app beeped at him, he looked at it then started pressing the buttons with the stylus to dial the storage facility's number. He talked to the operator briefly then was transferred around several times until he got a hold of the delivery lead.

"Sorry for the wait, sir, I understand you are looking for a PTC unit with the PokèCenter standard options?"

"Yes, I have a large base near Parzaa and I will be having multiple trainers coming by eventually. I would like to be ready for them, and I also would like to know if my storage capacity could be upgraded."

"Parzaa? Is that the town that allows Pokèmon family adoptions?"

"Yes, sir."

"Good, thought so, their system is needing an upgraded unit for easier supply transport. I'll arrange it so you can take it with you at no charge, the unit should arrive... in two days by Dragonites."

"Thank you, I'll notify the Mayor and wait there in two days. Thank you."

"You are welcome, Trainer Jason." The phone beeped as it disconnected.

"Geezes, that took long enough." Jason put his PokèNav into his pack then opened the ball pouch. "I have ten regular Pokèballs left. Shall we see if we can't add to our family like the early days?"

"Why not, I need some good exercise before I get fat." Champ chortled.

"You hardly eat, how can you get fat off of one serving of meat a day?"

"Blah, blah, blah. Hey look, it's a Pidgey." Champ inattentively said.

"Too weak and you know it. Let's see if we can't find a stream or someplace where grounded Waters lurk."

"You're trying to kill me... aren't you?" The Charizard looked back with a sly grin, all Jason did was nod. "Thought so. Welp! Let's go."

Champ suddenly veered upward then spun quickly as he looked for water. He let out an excited roar then dove for the only water source he saw, a steamy spring. They landed quietly, though they only spotted a lone Spearow, that did not stop either of them from searching the area of life. Champ growled out impatiently after a full minute's search.

"Hey, bird breath, where are the water spitters?" Champ glared at the small bird.

"Ah, a flamer. This is a peaceful place, that one there does not belong here-"

"What do you mean by that?" Jason interrupted causing the Spearow to jump back.

"Well, it speaks. Still, this is a sanctuary, there is no fighting here. Predators and Preys meet here freely and partake of the healing waters here. Do not taint our land with your flesh, human. Flee from here."

"If that is a threat, little one, bring it, I am sure the two of us can take on you."

"Uh... J-Jason..." Champ looked to the shadows beside him and saw several eyes reflect the light back at him. "I would rather consider his warning."

"That's not like you to back down." Jason took a look where his partner stared and went pale. "Okay, you win for now, but know this: We are residents of this forest and nothing will stop us from exploring this place and getting others to join our family." He quickly climbed onto Champs back and they fled laughing coldly.

After they were above the area, Jason just chuckled to himself. "A Pokèmon cult out in the wilds. Who would have thought? Too bad that was the closest water source, let's head into the trees around our base, we could at least get some running in."

"After seeing what I saw, I rather not be out when night comes. There are bigger things out here and I do not want to tangle with them until I know I'll be able to hold my own."

Jason thought for a moment then shrugged it off. "Very well, let's go see if the girls have dinner ready. Then we'll have the others come with us to protect you."

"Very funny. I just don't want to fight someone who has twice my own experience in battle and the advantage. Remember, I am a flyer now, I am not going to willingly pick a fight with a Rock type."

"All right, I get it. Let's go back."

They flew back to the upper entrance to the tree then went in. They found themselves meeting a bouncing blue fuzz ball, Azumarill smiled at them then told them that their meal awaited them. Jason placed his hand on her head and forced her to stop bouncing even if it was for a brief moment. He asked why she was so perky, she just shrugged then led they way dancing and twirling to her own tune.

Jason sighed with a smile, he followed her to what had now transformed into a dinning room for all of them. The Grass types there sure had a knack for making the tree to whatever they needed. He didn't care, it helped him out in the long run. The former slaves had already sat and began to eat as they entered, Jason went to sit with Lisa and the others. Champ looked around, and noticed the two Charmanders sitting alone. He looked at Clair, she gave him a nod then he joined the two who shirked away from him at first.

Later that night, Champ roamed the tree with the two Charmanders. He found that they were actually loot from a deadly battle between their former Trainer and the Salamence. Their girl had been killed by an attack, so the Salamence took their balls and forced them to follow him. The little ones took Champ to a chamber where their balls where kept. But when he wanted to go in there, they stopped turned their backs.

"Come on," He said encouragingly. "You can't stay afraid forever."

"Yes we can." The male said. Champ could not help but feel sorry for the siblings.

"I am sure whatever is in there, we three can take it on."

The female whimpered and clung to her older brother. "I don't want to forget her..."

"Hush, Tailia."

"So you do have names. Still, we need to get your balls to Jason, he will know what to do with them."

"He will break them, that is the code! A Trainer dies, the Pokèmon must be released. I never heard of a Pokèmon remembering their Trainer afterwards."

"Then you haven't talked to Lisa, have you? Didn't think so, she was in the same boat as you. I don't know the whole story, but she talks about him constantly and judging her adopted 'father' against him. I'll get your-" Champ looked into the chamber and his jaw dropped. Inside was rack after rack of balls and a computer in the middle of the room. Moon, if you can hear me, get Jason down here, now! I think I know what made these girls slaves of the tree.

Within a minute, a half dressed Jason and a cranky Moon appeared beside Champ. The Charizard pointed to the door. Jason followed the gesture then stopped at the threshold. He stared at the multitude of Pokèballs, some opened to the point of snapping, others had been locked. The male Charmander stepped forward and lightly rested his claw on the back of Jason's leg.

"I would be here like the rest of them if he did not like the way I had worked him."

"All of these are male?"

"Most, there are those few females who only like others. We all were Trainer Companions at one point I believe. I suppose it is up to you if you want to claim all of us as your own."

"I will need help... the day after, I will be getting my own PC, I will ask one of the officers to help me with this until then... they have to stay dormant."

"What about us? Our family is in there somewhere."

"Then look for them, I don't think I would be much help, if the Trainer is still alive then I cannot open them."

"She's not..." Tailia sniffled as she stared at the floor. "I watched her burn... there was nothing I could do. Many of the others have said the same."

"I know it is hard on you, but I just won't risk having the original Trainer being alive. I will have the cops look up each one and then determine their fates then."

The male grumbled then started to walk away.

"Tant, wait up." Tailia shot off after her sibling.

"Geez, you can tell those two are related."

Champ grunted then stepped into the room to look around, he stopped at the computer. He stared at the screen for a moment before reaching for a small button. Jason stopped him with a warning then asked him to check on his mate. Jason sighed then looked at Moon who nodded then teleported him back to their room.

Champ walked briskly for a while as he headed for the nursery, then he slowed his pace once it was in sight until he stopped several feet away from the door. He slumped down as he thought about the Charmanders, he figured they were his elders by a few years but he also had the urge to protect them from themselves given their weaker states. He clutched his head with both claws then pulled himself into a ball as he fought the idea that he would end up doing the same to his twin eggs.

He jumped suddenly as he felt a slight touch on his winged cover, he looked up and saw the Gallade. The male just looked at the worried fire dragon with a calm gaze. Without saying a word, Ditch sat down beside the Charizard and waited patiently. After a minute, Champ grunted then turned slightly to his unwanted company.

"Let me guess," He said. "You are going to tell me that you were once in my claw steps and that everything will end up fine, right?"

"Nope. I may be a Psychic, but I do not share what I see. Or in your case, what I don't see. Your young are special, granted nothing as the ones they will grow up with, that is. Being alive after their ordeal alone makes them a rarity. You, as a father, are their teacher. Show them what it is like to be a warrior and fight for what is right. My sight with your entire family may end within minutes of this moment, but I can tell you I know that truthfully. Go in there and be a loving mate and father, you will be needed most in the next three days. So do not falter, good father, and learn yourself as you teach them." Ditch leaned against the wall with his eyes closed, the red spike coming from his back folded easily as he relaxed and let the hardened fur shift. "Remember that family always comes first."

"I'll try my best as I always do... where'd you go?" Champ growled as he looked up and saw Ditch was gone. "Fine, message heard."

Champ rose then went to the room his mate was staying in. He leaned against the threshold as he watched several females tend to the mother and her eggs along with the colt from Mitch's team. He snuck over and sat as close as he dared to the Poliwhirl that gently was his mate's wings. Not one had noticed him, not that he cared, but it did him good to see his mate in such a relaxed state.

Jason jolted up with a start, he reached for his Pokètch and called up the time. Six forty in the morning. He sighed then tossed the blanket towards the foot of the bed. He reached over to nudge the sleeping Azumarill awake then crawled off the bed.

After a good stretch and yawn, Jason went after his pack and opened up the main compartment then grumbled. He realized that one of the girls had taken his clothes to be washed. Even the ones from the day before, so all he had was his underwear. He snorted then opened the door slightly to look to see if anyone decided to leave him a robe or something.

"They left me nothing to wear."

"Look in the closet, mate of mine." Azu smiled as she sat up. "I prefer the blue suit, but that is just me."

"Huh? Closet? Oh, right." Jason went to the large ebony closet and opened the heavy wood doors to see several suits and several road clothes hanging up. "These... look expensive."

"The suits are made from Weedle silk, do be careful with them. The others have been brought in from previous human males and kept in decent condition. They should fit you."

"Should? Have you made measurements or something?"

Azu chuckled as she stared at his bare flesh.

Jason chose a blue T-shirt and dark blue denim jeans. Afterwards he went to put on his belt then went back to the bed and leaned over Azu to kiss her head lightly. He smiled helped her down. The smell of warm food came to their attention so they rushed out and down to the communal dinning room. As they entered the room fell silent and all eyes turned to them.

He greeted them loudly, then escorted Azu to her seat. Still the awkward silence filled the room. He remained standing as he looked at all the various species sitting together without conflict. He drew a breath then straightened his back.

"I take it that the discovery that was made last night has traveled around. I will find out if any of you 'captured' still have a living family out there. If not, I will do my best to get you in my family. Though I do not hold my breath either way, I do hope there are some who have that choice to leave this place to rejoin those long thought lost. In other news, I will be heading into town tomorrow to pick up a Trainer's Personal Computer. I am getting ready for travelers of all kinds to join us, so I would like to ask that you all do the same. We will be needing rooms and such soon, if we have to start building outside the tree, so be it. We need to be ready for anything.

"While I am in town, I will also ask the local nurse to send an orderly here to check on those willing to be looked at. I do hope everyone is in good health now, but this will be a monthly thing if I can have my way. Enjoy the meal and the day."

Jason sat down and started eating, the room slowly filled with new conversations. Jason heard one loud argument, though he was sure they meant it to be hushed, they went on about how they were still trapped in the tree. The other side argued that since the tree had a new master that demanded them to be outside, the tree would have no choice but to let them go. But that was all he got, the loud murmur quickly covered it.

"It seems there are those few who do not like change, Azu, how about you? How do you like all of this?" Jason said loud enough for his meal partner to hear it.

"As long as I am not being beaten, I do not care."

"That I can agree with. I wonder how Clair and her eggs are doing... I don't even see Champ in here. Adrian and Lisa are cuddling more than eating down there. Who does the cooking around here?"

"That would be Nidoqueen and her little group. What is with all the worry?"

"I haven't been separated from my family, my team, this long. Can you not blame me for worrying about those not within sight?"

"I suppose so. I need to gather your clothes after the meal, you go down to the nursery and check on them."

"Oh no, you are not lifting anything until that babe is out. You hear me?"

Azu chuckled then leaned over and gave his shoulder a peck. "How sweet, he cares."

"Well of course 'he' does, especially when that baby of his could be hurt. Not to mention the mother. Can't have one without the other."

After the meal, Jason did as he said he would; he went to the nursery holding Azu's paw in one hand while the other carried a basket filled full of berry goodies and some kind of cooked meat that no one was willing to give a name to. That didn't bother him, what did is that the omnivores stayed as far from it as possible. So he hoped Champ and Clair would at least try it. He was tempted to, but Azu stopped him every time he picked it up with a "Don't, it will not do you mind good after you eat it," meaning that only the meat eaters would fully enjoy the taste. He entered the room and joined the quiet father as he absently rubbed the egg he warmed with his body.

Later that day, a pair of screams could be heard as two expectant mothers were becoming mothers. Azu's babe emerged first, a strong Azurill male was birthed live. He cried loudly, Jason picked him up and cleaned him gently. The parents argued over two names, Ricky and Michael. They eventually agreed to go with the name Mickey. The newborn did not show any human qualities until he opened his eyes, Jason nearly fumbled the babe as he stared with big blue eyes instead of the normal solid black of the breed.

Jason sat the babe next to his mother after a brief forehead peck then went to check on the other trio. He went around a curtain that allowed the females some privacy while they birthed then stopped dead as he peered into the Lucario's side. Adrian spoke softly to the mother as a Raichu cleaned off the quiet newborn Riolu. Jason got a good peek, it was female.

"So?"

"This is odd, we had a live birth, you?" Lisa said weakly but with a smile.

"Same, male. My eyes. His name is Mickey."

"We haven't decided yet." Adrian spoke with a just as quiet voice. "Though we are leaning to Mona."

Jason chuckled. "Mona and Lisa, I like."

"Then we also like Sara, don't really know why, but it seems to suit her."

Jason stepped in and looked over the Raichu's shoulder, the Riolu just stared back at him as though she was studying him. "That it does suit her. I think she likes it too. It's weak, but I think she's trying to place her emotional impression on me."

"We noticed that too. What frightens me, is that she does not cry."

"You are a strong race, most trainers experience the same from hatchlings. Don't worry too much, just train her to be strong like her parents, we'll have-"

"Jason, they're hatching early!" Champ's voice pierced the quietness of the room.

Jason smiled then went out after giving his blessing on his 'granddaughter.'

Jason stood to where he just barely could watch over Champ's wings, he did not want to have that parental bond happen to him. The eggs shattered in unison, what rolled out gained a gasp from the entire audience. Jason did not need to guess the gender, it showed well as the male stood and pissed on the floor. His sister did the same. The female is what got the gasp. It was a rare shiny. She stood as a gold Charmander next to her dull bronze-red brother.

After the two looked around and focused on the two Charizards, Jason walked up and squatted next to Champ. Without a word, Champ scooped up his twins and cuddled them before giving them to the waiting mother. Clair giggled as she hugged them then played with them with her tail. Their flames flickered with brilliant life, signs of health.

"So?"

"They are in Lisa's care, she deserves a chance to see and name them."

"Ah, but they are carrying my ID and I say you name them. No pet names though, I could not live with that."

Champ chuckled. "Okay, but they have to be twin names..."

"No." Clair said sharply. "I would like to call our son Jason, and our daughter Angel."

"Don't you think it would get confusing?" Champ tried to make an excuse.

"No."

"The mother has spoken, man, don't piss her off." Jason chuckled. "We will just have to call him little J."

"I guess..." Champ sighed. He didn't have any names chosen anyway.

Clair smiled at them.

"Well don't lose a claw feeding them. I have a boy to tend to myself. We will have to let all four play sometime today. I'm sure they'll be bouncing off the walls soon enough."

Jason smacked the Charizard's shoulder then went back to his own little corner to play with his Water type son. He could not help but glow himself seeing all four youngsters healthy and lively. He heard Lisa already scalding her child for peeing on the midwife. Jason ignored the ruckus as he entered his own little cubicle and knelt beside the bed, the two slept peacefully. He smiled, although he still thought it was morally wrong to have sex with Pokèmon, he knew it felt good to have a unique chance at having a hybrid. Who knew what possibilities would come of this.

His mind reeled as he thought of things that he knew he would have to teach this boy, but what of the things he could not teach? Things like acting like a normal Pokèmon around unknown humans. He knew that would be trouble on its own. At least he had other humans here, hopefully they could not understand the boy as well as he could with Pokèmon.

"My life has turned up an odd leaf. I never would have thought I would be doing these things. All I got to do is save the world and I will be set for life with unknown glory." Jason spoke softly not wanting to wake either of them. "I cannot wait for the day you call me father. Though be warned now, I will try not to treat you any different from the others of our family. You all have my heart, but you are the only one that shares my blood. I hope that does not change the way I think among my family and friends. Moon... I know you are out there, along with the others. Come on in and see the family."

Jason rose and pulled a Luxury Ball from his pocket and expanded it. He smiled and knew that this long time gift was now to be used. He pulled the curtain away and tossed the ball at Lisa's side. She looked at him, he nodded. She knew what had to be done, she did it, she captured her own daughter. She did not fight it, as soon as the ball was registered, she released her. Jason took the ball from her and attached it to her belt which hung on a hook beside the bed.

She smiled grimly as she watched her adoptive father do that. To keep her safe, she knew it had to be done. Moments after that, the others of the team flooded in. The Gengar stood at the back wall and grumbled as the commotion went on as Moon and Shadow went slowly around bathing the new additions with attention. They all could tell that things were about to get interesting; mostly in caring for the young, but in general things they knew they had to watch what they did and say around them.
