Chapter one: The cougars

As Draco sat on his favourite spot on the edge the cliff of MT. Cloud, his shoulder length black hair buffeted by the massive up draft caused by the wind hitting the immovable wall of the mountain he sat upon, all the wind and cold also bit him deep as he rubbed his arms a little trying to warm his frail little human body, he was still in his hunting gear from his bi-weekly hunt, he had a large leather trench coat that he had dyed dark green, his legs were being kept warm by his beige cargo pants, he looked down past his black hiking boot clad feet into the almost endless abyss that fell away into a great lake at the bottom of the shear drop, he tried to comprehend the vast drop beneath him.

"It must be at least a couple of thousand feet down... why shouldn't I just jump and end it all" he sighed to himself, "it's not like I'll be missed, I have nothing left for me in this world".

Just as he said that he heard a great earth shaking roar followed by a pained screech and something green came flying out of the trees and landed in the opening between the trees and the cliff he was sat upon.

Draco immediately forgot his sorrows so as to investigate what it was that had disturbed him in his time of sorrow, who knows maybe he would actually be able to take home some food as he had not managed to catch anything recently, and he wasn't above scavenging others kills, also there was the fact that for some reason there was less and less wild life in the woods near his rudimentary shack than usual.

He pulled a large hunting knife from a belt sheath by his side and held it ready by his side making sure not to let the sunlight glint across the blade as he stalked toward his prospective prey with his blade at the ready.

As he stalked ever closer to the source of his disturbance he noticed what looked like a hand laying limp on the ground, at this point Draco threw caution to the wind and began to run toward what he thought to be a person in some kind of danger, but as Draco drew closer he could see that this was not a normal person at all, this person had green skin instead of the normal peach colouring. Draco slowed to almost a crawl, he still kept his knife at the ready but he couldn't help but feel the urge to investigate this strange sight before him.

Draco took a quick look around just to make sure there was no immediate danger to him or the person he was so interested in and when he was sufficiently happy there was no one else around he turned his attention back to the person that lay sprawled on the floor in front of him.

As he looked upon the body at his feet he took note of its strange features, it was not actually skin he saw, it had very fine scales over its sides and back then down and along its tail, the tail had a small lick of flame at its tip that glowed and flickered a bright vibrant blue.

All of a sudden Draco felt a searing hot pain drive right through his shoulder, he faltered on his feet slightly, and he gave a grunt of pain and then looked at his shoulder and noticed a large dagger sticking out of his shoulder, then he looked up from his shoulder to see a cloaked figure standing there.

"Look I don't know who you are but I know you do not want to start a fight with me" warned Draco as he lowered himself to a ready stance then almost growled at the figure "you just made the biggest mistake of your life"

The cloaked figure just stood and watched as Draco walked in front of the dragon he had just found so as to protect it from harm, to be honest Draco really didn't know how he was going to fight off this person because he could tell by the way this person had appeared out of nowhere that this person was very swift of foot.

"How dare you address me with such a tone, you are but an insolent worm that is getting between me and my kill" whispered the figure in a completely unidentifiable voice.

Draco made a quick lunge for the figure but it moved like a ghost and then spun and kicked Draco in the back sending him sprawling in the other direction.

"Now get out of my way and leave me to collect my victory" hissed the figure "or it will be worse for you"

"No I will not let you hurt whoever this is". Said Draco rather shakily, "I will not let any person suffer unreasonably as long as I live".

"Then you shall die with her" the hooded figures voice seemed to boom menacingly "you are but a mortal and now you will taste my wrath".

Then it did something Draco did not expect, it opened its cloak to reveal some kind of high tech armour, it was bright white with dark lines on it in some kind of tribal pattern the black lines seemed to glow with darkness which confused Draco to no end.

The thing that really surprised Draco was when the figure removed its hood, it was a 5ft something cougar with eyes that were filled with hatred and rage.

"What the hell is going on around here!" screamed Draco "what the hell are you?" before Draco could do anything he felt something grab his shoulder then throw him against a tree with astonishing strength.

Draco was now facing two cougars that looked like they were fully intent on killing him and the other being he now knew to be a female dragon.

The first figure seemed to look distinctly female, she had softer features and her body seemed to be of a very slim build, the second was a very big, very burly male, his arms seemed as thick as branches, his armour had the arms cut off and it exposed his massive muscles, {he could probably snap me in half just like that} thought Draco.

"You can never hope to defeat us so I would suggest you just give in and surrender to us" said the female cougar in a very serious voice.

"Don't be so quick to judge, you see I have nothing to lose" Draco said pointing at his clothes "so I think your best bet is to find someone else to terrorise." He then took hold of the dagger in his shoulder and in one swift movement pulled it out of his shoulder and readied himself for battle.

Draco did not realise the danger he was in, as he had not seen the katanas that both the cougars had sheathed on their backs.

As the cougars drew their blades Draco cursed his chivalry toward all females regardless of their species, age, lineage, or colour.

"COME ON THEN!" he shouted at the cougars.

Then the cougars charged at Draco.

Draco steeled himself for battle and dropped to a more defensive stance as both of the cougars pointed their blades at his heart.

As the female was allot lighter she overtook the male and brought her blade down at Draco.

Using both of the daggers he was holding Draco caught the blade and locked his arms so that he could push her back.

With one big heave he pushed her back, she only opened the most momentary lapse in her defence but Draco was ready for this and slammed a dagger into the shoulder of her armour, this didn't hurt the cougar but it did lock her armour on the shoulder, with her arm disabled she was completely unable to use her katana.

The female cougar backed off and the male cougar jumped into the air with his sword ready to cleave Draco in half.

Then a blue glowing ball flew in from behind Draco and hit the male cougar in the chest sending him sailing back and hitting a tree, both the cougars looked past Draco and ran with all their might.

Draco turned around to see the dragoness standing there surrounded by a wall of blue flames Draco walked toward her putting his dagger on the floor, but before Draco could put his hands up to defend himself the dragoness launched herself out of the wall and slammed Draco into a tree, Draco hit his head on the tree and fell unconscious, just as he left the waking world he heard a whine but then nothing.
