#3 of Father Figure

Jim sits in the classroom, a math test stares him straight in the face. However hard he tries, he can't concentrate on the task at hand. Maybe it's because he went to sleep late last night and almost overslept, or maybe it's because he hasn't seen Bruce since Thursday afternoon. He doesn't want to admit it, but the weekend really made him tired. He thought that a weekend on the farm might do him some good; instead he had so much fun that he's overly exhausted today. It must've been the longest time he and his mother spent together without fighting.

"Question 1A" he reads softly to himself. "x + 90 - 5(2 x 5) = 50. Define x." The question continues.

Jim lets out a sigh, "Shit! I should've studied the weekend" he thinks to himself before trying to work out the answer. Hopefully, he'll pass the test, or he's going to argue with his mom again...

30 minutes and 25 Questions of terror later, the bell rings just as he writes down his answer for the final question. Relieved, he hands in his test, grabs his backpack and exits the class. Just outside the door, a paw grabs his shoulder from behind and he turns around. A female wolf stands behind him, her grey and white fur looks soft and comforting. Her yellow eyes are inviting, almost like she's showing compassion. She's wearing a silky white blouse with a blue jacket and jeans, it fits her slim body well, and not to mention it shows more cleavage than the school rules permit. She must be about one or two years older than him.

"Hi, I'm Jenny. You must be Jim?" she asks as they friendly shake hands.

"Yes, I'm Jim. Good to meet you, Jenny." he replies, smiling.

"Thanks, same here." she says, smiling back at him. "You're sure shooting up the kickboxing ranks, must have a good coach?" she asks inquisitively.

Jim unconsciously pushes out his chest from pride, "Yeah, hard training, a good coach and discipline is all it takes." he says, boasting to his new fan.

"I take it you guys solved your problems then?" she asks, not knowing the complications of the question she's asking.

A shot of worry flies through Jim's body, does Jenny know? How did she find out?

"W...What do you mean?" he asks, obviously worried that she might know about them.

"I was there a while ago when I was ill; he told me he was worried about his student. He said he might have done something to upset you?" she continues her curious escapade.

Jim realizes that it must have been during the time they didn't speak, the time right after the funfair. He calms down; at least it seems that she doesn't know what really was going on.

"No, we sorted it out. It was a misunderstanding." he says, smiling again.

"Oh, okay. I was trying to find you ever since and saw you in a match a few days ago. I recognized you just now when I came back from Science class." she confesses.

"Oh, thanks. It's good of you to be so concerned." he just hopes her concerns with him and Bruce ends here, she might mean trouble.

A voice from behind startles them both, "Hey, you two! Get to class, you can socialize during break!" It's Mr. Bernie, the English teacher.

"Sorry sir!" they both reply.

Jenny leans over towards Jim seductively and whispers in his ears, "I know the truth." Then she walks away to join her friends as they move on to the next class.

Jim's whole body freezes, the cats out of the bag so to speak. It's all over, everything from his relationship with his mother to his reputation in school. He feels like fainting, like running away and never coming back, it's all too much for him. However, what's done is done and he must face it as best he can.

Its break time, Jim hastily walks up and down the school looking for Jenny, she's probably told the whole school already. He anxiously walks from teen to teen to find out where she's hiding. The stress is eating him up from inside. His legs doesn't have the energy to walk, but he forces himself from one end of the school to the other, unable to find the grey wolf.

Just as he gives up hope, he sees her along with her friends, flirting with some Football jocks on the far side of the field. Determined to find out if she told anyone, he starts walking over to them. Thoughts run through his head, what if she told them? They'd probably hit the crap out of him, just because he's good in kickboxing doesn't mean he can take on five football jocks. His steps soon slow down, the grass stop crunching below his sneakers. His goal is within reach, but he can't even force himself near them now. He'll have to wait for another time.

Slowly and unsure, he turns around and starts walking back to the spot he normally spends break time at, only to be stared and smiled at by the grey wolf he so anxiously wanted to spend five minutes with.

The bell rings just as Jim gets to his spot, the whole ringing just spells out "Doom and Gloom" for the next two hours. He won't even stand a chance to speak to her between periods.

The next four classes seem like an eternity, he can't help to worry about what happened earlier. Time after time he finds himself in a daze about how shitty life would be if everyone knew he's screwing his trainer.

The bell rings for the last time of the day, everyone hurries out of the class to go home and enjoy the rest of their day. Jim hurries down the stairs and towards the gate, looking for Jenny along the way.

He stands at the gate, waiting impatiently as groups of students exit the school yard, everyone, except Jenny. Could she have gone out the other gate? This is the gate nearest to her last class of the day; surely she must have chosen to go home through here.

The school looks dead, not a soul in sight. Disappointed and worried, he turns around and walks home, forcing him to take step after step. He feels like crying, it's just one big mess now.

Images, scenes and situations stream through his head as he walks home, there is no one with him; it's only him and his thoughts. Thoughts of how he would be joked at by the whole school, of how others would look down on him, they'd probably avoid him at all costs. He'll probably lose the few friends he has, just because some wolf caught up to him and told the whole school.

Jim turns around the corner, a bush rustles and Jenny comes from behind it. He sees her, shocked yet again; he can't decide what he should do. He should confront her, but the fear of hearing her say she told everyone is eating him up inside. The female wolf walks up to him, her soft fur is waving in the soft breeze that's sweeping through town.

"Hey, how are you?" she asks as she stands in front of him, unable to tell the expression of the young lion.

"How am I? How am I! I'm fine, just peachy actually. Thanks for asking." he replies rudely. The worry and stress turns into anger, how dare she do something like this?

"Hey what's wrong?" she asks, for a moment she looks at him confused. Then she realizes what he's thinking.

"Wait, you think I told the whole school you're gay?" she asks, holding her paw in front of her mouth to try and mute her chuckling.

"You didn't?" he asks, surprised yet again. Was he worried for nothing? He feels a little relieved, but the possibility is still there that she's just playing with him.

"Jim, just because I'm a sexy female wolf doesn't mean I'm a bitch. I found out a while ago, but I didn't tell a soul." she says, still chuckling. "I would never do something like that." she continues, calming down.

Jim looks down at the street, the shame he feels now knows no bounds. "I'm sorry; my mind ran away with me. You're the first to find out about us, so the worry was natural." he apologizes.

"Its okay, your secret is safe with me. I saw you trying to talk to me today; I didn't realize you were thinking that. I'm sorry if I gave the wrong impression." she replies.

Jim looks back at Jenny, in the end it was all a misunderstanding. "Its okay, what's done is done. Come on, I want you to come with me to Bruce, I want to tell him." Jim says, opening up completely to his new friend.

Jenny smiles, "Sure, let's go. I'd like that."

They continue down the street, eagerly heading towards the doctor's offices...
