The next day, a nurse came in with a grim look on her face. She walked up to Wolfie's bedside and said to him, "Good afternoon, Wolfie. I hope you're feeling better than yesterday. I have good and bad news."

Wolfie's eyes tilted up to the nurse to listen, "What's the good news?"

"Your wounds are minor and we can release you today and now."

"And the bad news?"

"We have received a message from the police precinct saying that the man you fought with yesterday, Tyro, escaped."

Wolfie sat up immediately with a look of utter terror and fear on his face. "Check me out now," he ordered the nurse.

As soon as Wolfie was checked out, he ran outside and as fast as he could to his house. He was out of breath and his wounds were acting up from the fierce strain he had just put on his body. Wolfie's car was in the parking lot and he ran up the steps to his opened front door. When inside, he called, "Adagio? Where are you?"

There was no answer. He ran back outside, to his car and drove back to the gay bar where he had first found Adagio. Wolfie ran to the alley and there was his fox. Lying on the ground. Wolfie approached the blood-drenched fox and knelt down to see what happened.

"Adagio, please answer me!" Wolfie cried to his lover.

"I...Wolfie?" Adagio weakly replied.

"Adagio, where is that bastard horse?"

"Wolfie...I'm almost gone...I love you...I'm sorry..."

"What the hell are you sorry for? Adagio, don't give up. I'm calling an ambulance now." Wolfie gently set Adagio back on the ground and took out his cell phone to call 911.

Wolfie was suddenly shot to the ground. He looked up and there was the horse standing over him once again. "You bastard!" Wolfie cried, "What have you done to Adagio?"

"I got tired of putting up with him," said Tyro, cruelly, "So I put an end to him." The horse walked over to Adagio and kicked the fox, draining the last of his life.

Wolfie watched in astonishment, his eyes fiery red once again, losing all control as he watched his lover lose his last breath; the air around him heating; the aura he emitted burning. Wolfie shot with blazing speed at Tyro, knocking the horse to the ground with scars along his face. Tyro screamed in agony, but got up and ran.

Wolfie regained his senses momentarily. He had to go back to Adagio. Wolfie knelt by his fox once again, crying. He stroked the fox's cheek and leaned down to kiss his lips. "I love you, Adagio," he whispered. Wolfie got up, eyes red once again, and ran off in Tyro's direction. Wolfie left a trail of tears behind him as he ran for his hated mark.

The timber wolf turned a corner and saw Tyro climbing up stairs on the side of a building. Wolfie jumped onto the ladder and climbed up after the horse. Once Wolfie reached the top of the building, Tyro was on the other side. "Stop !" Wolfie cried out.

Tyro stopped, regained his posture and turned around back to Wolfie. "Still chasing, even though you've lost what you wanted?" he asked the wolf.

"I'm only chasing down what stole it from me," Wolfie answered. He raised his gun to Tyro and pulled the trigger. The bullet shot through the horse's shoulder. Tyro stumbled back and fell backwards off of the side of the building.

Wolfie ran to the other side and looked down to the alley. The horse was gone. 'How is this possible?' Wolfie asked himself, 'He couldn't have survived that fall, could he?'

The wolf jumped to the other building and climbed down the stairs and ladder to the alley. He pulled out his cell phone and called 911, reporting everything that occurred to the officer.

Soon, the police arrived, observing the alley and the alley in which Adagio had died. The ambulance took Adagio away.

"Mr. Wolfie," an officer said, "I think under the circumstances, we can let your vigilante justice slide just this once."

Wolfie nodded to the officer in thanks and walked from the crime scene, leaving the officers to do their job.

Wolfie got home and sat on the couch, putting his head into his paws. After a few minutes, he opened his eyes and stood. 'I vow to protect all those in need,' he thought to himself.

He walked to his car. 'I vow to protect the ones I love.'

He arrived at the airport and bought a ticket to England. 'I vow to find Tyro someday.'

THE END
