He got in front of me and peered through the hinges of the door "it looks like there's no problem right outside but we still have to be a little cautious...maybe this should be another lesson for you today, using a real situation." He paused to think "keep close to me and follow along try to be quiet and stay close to the walls, we should head outside of the building and avoid anything that looks suspicious" he instructed "got all that?" I nodded "good, let's go" he put his finger over his lips signaling me to stay quiet.
He slowly opened the door and took a quick sniff and then a peek on both ends of the hall, turning towards the stairs I followed and shut the door softly so no one would hear.
I was getting a little scared what was going on, this was kind of random to have just happened and for Izzy to be treating it so seriously.
We went down the stairs and quickly down a few halls and there seemed to be no one around they must have all evacuated.
I could smell something like soot and cement in the air close by maybe there was an accident in one of the labs.
Izzy continued to guide me off to one of the doors and we walked out of the building.
I sighed with relief as we exited but it seemed Izzy was a bit tense "where is everyone?" he asked quietly.
"I don't know..." I looked around and was starting to feel a bit nervous, what is going on and what could have caused such a loud noise earlier.
Izzy's head shot up and looked back, his eyes were in shock before he lunged at me and tackled me onto the ground, I saw something big land close to where we were standing and then a sudden shock was pushing us over a bit.
"What the hell was that?" I yelled as Izzy quickly got off of me and pulling me up.
"No time for questions just stay alert I forgot something I was supposed to do today, and it's a little bit dangerous. I'd suggest you head a little further out this isn't the best place to be standing." Izzy was frantic and looking around searching for something "hurry up!" he swing his arm.
So I moved out of the way and stood by a large rock a few meters from where Izzy was.
This was weird what was going on? It looked sort of like a stand off but with only Izzy standing there.
Suddenly three big objects that looked like shining wool fell from out of no where and impacted the ground close to Izzy, I hid behind the rock and even then I could feel the force from when they hit the ground.
I peeked over again and saw a short dragon standing in front of Izzy... he looked familiar, I think he was the one Izzy was chasing after the first day I got here.
"You know you really piss me off when you threaten my student's lives" Izzy growled at the other dragon.
"Oh shut up what could he possibly learn from an idiot brute like you" the other made a quick remark.
I'm pretty sure that made Izzy upset since he made a loud roar and charged at the smaller dragon but before he could reach him there another one of those exploding objects was pushed out in front of Izzy forcing him back a few feet.
"Don't push yourself you'll only make a fool of yourself as you always do" the smaller one glared at Izzy before pulling out more of those weird objects and placing them in a line in front of him.
"grrr... what the hell do you even want?" Izzy asked sounding more furious by the second.
"I want to have my fun like anyone else" the smaller one said juggling two of those objects somehow. "but I want to get rid of you, you're the last person I would have expected to be training someone so...exceptional" I saw him look back at me briefly before turning back to Izzy and throwing more things at Izzy.
Izzy jumped out of the way avoiding the blasts by hovering over with his wings. "Well if you think I'm unfit to teach then I'll have to prove how wrong you are." Izzy landed and kicked a small pebble at the explosives in line in front of the smaller dragon setting one off and causing a domino effect detonating them all.
After the massive shockwave I peeked back up over the rock, I hoped Izzy was ok.
I was surprised to see what had happened Izzy was holding the smaller dragon by the neck against the wall, I saw him knee him right in the stomach and lift him for a head butt before dropping him to the floor.
Izzy was panting and breathing heavily and it seems the smaller dragon wasn't moving so I decided to come out of hiding and see if I can help out Izzy.
"Are you alright?" he asked me as he saw me running up.
"Yes" I nodded "but what was all that? And what about you? You should be more concerned about your health, you just took multiple explosions close to your body" I was concerned for him, even for someone as strong as him that must have hurt a lot.
"I'll be fine...but this guy right here has been causing a lot of crap lately. I guess I let it go on to long." He looked down at the small fallen dragon.
"I-is he dead?" I asked.
"unfortunately...no...I'd rather not have to deal with the paperwork that comes with killing someone for your own protection" he sighed "especially when it comes down to other facility members, at least now he can't avoid a little punishment after attempting this stupid stunt."
"Yea..." I felt Izzy's hand on my back giving me a gentle rub.
"It's ok now Xee" he said softly "I know you might seem a little shaken up but this stuff happens and you did well with following instruction when needed. Good job; now lets get the little shrimp over here to the higher ups, and maybe we can get back to having our little fun day off again" he gave me a quick cheeky smile before grabbing the little dragon's unconscious body and putting him over his shoulder as we started to walk inside.
As I followed Izzy to the office I couldn't help but feel a little weirded out by this, we got attacked for pretty much a small feud.
At least I can relax knowing Izzy is strong enough to protect me, its still a wonder to me how he got so amazing...maybe its genetics.
"When we're done you'll need some rest Izzy...maybe take a nice bath and soak a bit" I said walking along side him.
But what of your day of doing what you w-" I interrupted him.
"Don't worry about that, because I'll be joining you." I smiled and he did the same, I think he figured out what I was thinking but I can't say that's a bad thing.
