#17 of Gamer Diaries: Skyrim

This one is a little shorter than the others. Not much I can do about that. On top of trying to keep these from becoming full-blown chapters, I have to separate them in a way that feels logical. If it's written by Espiona then she needs the time to write things down. The middle of a boss fight won't cut it.

Part XVI: Reaping the Benefits

Well, Goldenglow was interesting to put it simply. Aringoth, the owner sold the place despite knowing it would get him killed. Which it did since I had to run him through when I got there. It was his own fault. If he had just given me the key like I had asked or better, not drew a dagger on me, he would've lived long enough to regret his life choices. At least I put him down clean. I doubt whatever assassin Maven would've sent would've been kinder. Khash didn't like that I set the beehives on fire and refused to talk to me for the rest of the night. I tried to tell her it was part of the job but she wouldn't hear it. She'll get over it.

Either way, that was one headache out of my way. The job was done and I got paid. Better still, my success at Goldenglow earned me some praise from the guild itself and the attention of Maven Blackbriar. I had one night's sleep before she was already asking for me to do another job. I didn't have time but Brynjolf mentioned a large payday which was enough for me to try to squeeze it in.

Maven was exactly what I expected: a total bitch and she knew it. She wanted me in Whiterun to destroy a rival meadery. I still had to return that dragonstone in Whiterun so I could take of it then.

I asked Brynjolf if he could look into Gunmar for me and he mentioned meeting the man. He said something about going to Ivarstead but didn't say why. Ivarstead wasn't too far from here, just up north. I could ride a carriage and be there quickly. As for Sorine, the most he could tell me was there were research teams looking into dwarven ruins on the western side of Skyrim. Unfortunately, the guild didn't have much presence over there anymore so I would have to track her down myself.

One step at a time. First, Gunmar then I can worry about anything else.
