Others' Unacceptable Behavior

By Draconicon

Kai Lee sat in the boardroom on the twenty-third floor of his skyscraper, his hands folded together and the gloves he wore ever so slightly rasping off each other. His fingers curled tighter for a half-second before the snow leopard forced himself to relax. After all, it would not do to strangle the messenger across from him. Not yet, at the very least.

The feline instead leaned a little more firmly against the steel-topped table between him and the overly-slick poodle across from him. It was a better way to keep his hands from being immediately free, and with the abrasive behavior from this canine visitor, he felt that he needed the help.

"See, we can't really make a deal with your company while you got slave labor, you see," the poodle said. "Bad public perception, you understand?"

"..."

"But you start doing what we do? Yeah, it'll be just fine."

"I believe that you will have to explain to me the effective difference between us."

"Heh, formal, ain't ya?"

The poodle was hardly the sort of sophisticated man that he obviously pretended to be. What would have been exceedingly glamorous in another setting was little more than frustrated annoyance in this one. A dog that could have strutted through the streets of Paris and Milan with countless glances of admiration chose to be sleazy.

Or perhaps, Kai Lee admitted, the man could not help it. He had come from the land where slavery never died, just been renamed, re-established, re-branded again and again and again. Regardless, it grated, particularly as the poodle leaned back as if he was not the visitor here.

"Look, I know that you've only had this company for a few years, so let me level with ya. You're impressive, but you're not going to make it far with all those slaves that you got working for you. It doesn't play well on the international news, you see?"

Kai Lee didn't rise to the bait. He knew the numbers, and he knew why the poodle was here. The canine wanted a piece of the bio-technology that K.L. Inc. had been perfecting for the last half-year. The medical advances that they had made were sufficient to not just bring in millions for the company, but also bankrupt most of an industry across the seas when the technology hit the public sector. The private sector, unable to drive the prices up to the point to make a profit when it was being all but given away, would be hard-pressed to continue to justify its existence.

Particularly when the technology was so easily sustained. One injection of this new generation of nanites would have them bonding to and copying the healthy cells of the person that bought them, and would allow them to remain hospital-free for a decade, provided that they avoided any of the more deadly injuries. Sickness, at the very least, would be a concern for almost nobody.

It would leave the more predatory agencies at a loss for profit, and it would mean that people could be more productive. It was all for the better, in his eyes.

But not in theirs. Kai Lee glanced down as the canine continued his spiel about how this would play badly, that the slave labor that the snow leopard used would be his enemy on the international stage, that it would be impossible for anyone to believe in his product when he was so uncivilized. Just hand it over to them - for a generous payment, the poodle was quick to say - and the whole thing would be handled without him having to worry about a thing.

He tapped a finger against the paper file in front of him. Such a signal would have stopped one of his own employees in their tracks, but the poodle kept talking, adjusting his tie and pulling at his suit ever so slightly. The cocky tone in his voice was not pleasant.

"Ahem."

Kai Lee's simple throat-clearing was another signal that went by the oblivious canine, continuing to go on about how the snow leopard and Kusan City as a whole were behind the times, how this sort of thing just wasn't how it worked anymore. It touched a slight nerve, and the feline, instead of tapping the desk, extended one claw and scraped it, instead.

The sound of a reinforced cat claw cutting into metal was a sound that put the screeching blackboards to shame, and it finally stopped the poodle in his tracks. Kai Lee did not flinch, did not move save to continue dragging his finger down the table. It was a long, sustained shriek that made the poodle sink further and further down in his chair, until only his head was showing over the metal table, and even that was a shame-faced version of its former self, with those over-furred ears dragged back and covering the top of his head.

Finally, Kai Lee curled his fingers into a fist, laying them back over the file. He did not cock his head to the side. He did not smile. He did not do anything that would have offered an olive branch of conversation to the other man. Instead, he just spoke.

"You will not receive any access to the technology that we have developed."

"Then you're not gonna have a lotta luck selling it. I'm telling you -"

"No, I believe it's my turn to tell you."

Opening the file, he flicked four pictures across the table. One of the poodle on his hands and knees, getting fucked by a purchased slave. One with a slave on their back and the poodle snorting drugs off the slave's breasts. One with the canine visitor beating a slave. One with the messenger getting ready to take it to a deadly level. That last had been interrupted, the poodle allowed to run off by Kai Lee's order, just for this particular meeting.

With the pictures having rendered the foreigner silent, he continued.

"You have been an unacceptable guest in my city. Here, in Kusan City, slavery still exists. It is a situation that one can willingly enter into, and can petition to be removed from. It is a punishment, but a direct, codified, well-overseen one, with a strict definition of the years that one will serve. During this time, the duties of a slave are negotiated, and those terms are kept to, in a strict contract.

"This, in contrast to the situation that you and yours live under in your country, is an honest system. A slave may take any job that he or she wishes at the end of their servitude. A slave's record as a slave does not apply to the rest of their life. A slave is no less a living being for being a slave, and is, at times, more valuable than a free person."

"But -"

"The term 'slave' has become a vilified word, not because the station of slave is unnatural, but because of what you and yours have turned it into. Your wish for inferiors, rather than mere labor, has turned it into something beyond anything that is acceptable in this day and age. The only thing that saves you is a constant attempt to rebrand, re-establish, and re-set the terminology, and a constant scapegoating to find someone acceptable to place at the bottom of the ladder."

Kai Lee stood up from the table, adjusting his suit ever so slightly as he made his way to the other side. The poodle's eyes kept going from him to the pictures, and then back, obviously trying to find some way to talk his way free of the situation. There would be nothing of the sort. He had ensured that.

Snuffing out a slave was highly illegal in Kusan City. It was murder; worse than murder, for a slave had fewer defenses than a free being. It was worse than killing your spouse; it was like killing your child, someone that was supposed to be able to depend on the one that bought them.

The disrespect, the hypocritical nature, and everything else about this man bothered him. Had bothered him. Now, it was something past that. Infuriated him? Perhaps. It was a thing both strange and familiar, and he would have to examine it later. For now, he allowed part of his mind to observe how it felt, and the rest to focus on the matter at hand.

"You will not receive any access to our technology. And before you depart, you will pay recompense to the slave trader, the slave, and myself for all the time you've wasted, and the insults that you have given."

"...I'm not obliged to do any of that without going through the courts," the poodle said. "And good luck with that. We agreed on immunity."

"From the courts. Not from me."

"What, you gonna break a contract? Just because of some slave."

"No."

Kai Lee loomed over the poodle, and he slowly lowered one hand onto the canine's shoulders. He lifted his thumb, the glove not doing anything to hide his claw as he pushed the poodle's head up to look at him properly. The snow leopard narrowed his eyes, and the room began to spin.

"Because of unacceptable behaviors."

The room spun for him, not for the sake of reality turning, but for the way that his eyes spun as he stared down at the canine beneath him. The poodle's eyes widened, then fixed with his own stare. The twisting, turning, spiraling rotation dragged the canine's attention, and then his will towards the snow leopard, a feeling that he was long-since accustomed to. The headache that followed, as well.

He kept his grip on the other man's shoulder, holding it firm as the room continued to spin, the only constants being him and his target. The gasping other man stared at him still, trying to find some way to get free, but only able to spasm, shiver, shake. The longer the room spun, the more that the stiffness in the other man faded, until all that was left was limp flesh against his fingers.

Then, the spinning stopped. Kai Lee held the poodle's will in the metaphorical palm of his hand. The urge to think, the urge to act, would be suppressed and gone until he looked away. He leaned in, his nose barely an inch away from the poodle's.

"You have done wrong."

"...I have done wrong," the poodle muttered, all the charm gone from his voice, replaced by tiredness and guilt.

"You will repay your wrongs."

"I will repay my wrongs."

"You will pay off the trader. Twice the cost of the slave."

"Twice the cost of the slave."

"You will rehouse the slaves you purchased. Medium-tier apartments, with a nice house for the one you tried to kill."

"Rehouse...apartments...nice house..."

"And you will remain here for my amusement, until I am done with you."

"Until...you are done with me..."

"You will do as I say. And you will learn what it means to behave properly. Do you understand?"

"I understand."

No, he did not. But he would learn. Kai Lee deliberately closed both his eyes, waited three seconds, and then opened them. The poodle was already blinking, coming back to himself.

As expected, he fought the compulsion at first, but he had no more than a minute's resistance before he pulled his phone from his pocket and made five calls. One to the slave trader, and then one to each slave that he had accosted and embarrassed and damaged. It was done in relatively short order, costing the canine somewhere in the region of 5.7 million dollars in damages.

Not a great deal when one was talking about the life of another, but something. Something to make a dent in the company coffers that the poodle represented.

When it was done, the poodle reached for the table, obviously intending to shove himself away and leave, but the compulsion stopped him. Kai Lee sat down on the table beside the corporate poodle, letting the fluffy hound try again and again to get up and fail. Not one inch did he slide, not one little movement did he make except to pull himself slightly closer to the feline.

"What...what did you..."

"I am correcting your behavior," Kai Lee said. "And you will do what I say. Until I am done with you."

"What...how..."

"My company does not find its inspiration from nothing. I am...something special."

"..."

"I am experimenting with myself as much as anything else. And you will help me in these experiments." He lifted one hand from the table, opening the button on his pants. The zipper followed. "I have little experience in the...behavior...of some self-indulgent CEOs and corporate officers. You will help me learn why such indulgences appeal to them. At the very least, you will help me shed some stress."

"You...you..."

"You will enjoy this."

The compulsion took that as a command, and the poodle's expression of shock slowly faded into something more joyous, more...perverted, perhaps. The poodle did, at the very least, look at the snow leopard's crotch with something approaching glee. He flicked the seam of his underwear out of the way, and the head of a barbed shaft began to rise.

"Begin."

The poodle tried once more to fight the compulsions, but the twin commands to enjoy and serve overwhelmed him in less than a second. A warm mouth descended on Kai Lee's shaft, and he lifted his head to look out the window of the boardroom. It was an interesting sensation, and he would be better served to study it by observing how it felt rather than how the poodle did it. So he closed his eyes and felt, observing the warmth of the canine's lips as they went up and down, the action of the tongue, the teasing of the muzzle at large as it went down to the base of his shaft and then back up.

It was...pleasant, he supposed. He wondered what else might be achieved through this...
