This is a reaction to the VN "Echo".

I played through Leo's route and got the "good ending". Felt miserable and wanted to convey something through my writing. I don't think I did it very well and it doesn't really show what I felt but I'm sure you can make out how badly it messed with my head.

People who haven't read the VN may not understand but it's your cue to download it and cry at the end! !

"Can't you see he lied to us ??!"

The words sank slowly into his mind as he was trying to make sense of everything happening around him. He had driven all the way to Echo to reunite with his friends, to feel better about how they all had lost touch. The result was quite the opposite.

The dumbstruck otter took a step back, whispering, "N-no..." He looked at the keeper of secrets, the one being accused of lying and scrambled for answers, "Please... Tell me he's wrong..." The mortified look on his friend's face and the two hands covering his mouth spoke louder than he could ever have.

All the horrors of this town made possible by twisted lies, nobody would leave unharmed. He looked to his right, his ex was shivering and seemed seconds away from breaking down. To his surprise he mustered enough strength to speak up, "H-hey we can still get away." Even though his heart was crushed, the awkwardness of the situation and his will to survive were stronger than his sorrow.

"No." He looked at the one who spoke, Leo, his ex. "We can stay here for the night, there's nothing to fear!"

He took a few steps back, not knowing how to respond, "W-what?? Are you crazy?" The big wolf turned to him, "Cmon Chase, stay here with me... I still love you." Before having the time to say anything, Leo had already grabbed his arm and tried to pull him close.

"NO!" Chase pulled back, practically screaming. "I don't want to stay." Leo's eyes widened, tears flowing down his red cheeks. Having made his decision Chase disappeared into the darkness.

That's when I broke.
