CHAPTER 2

Eight years have passed and Isinia is eight years old, living along with her wolf grandparents. Now living within the city limits and having been successful in evading their enemies for a long time. The neighborhood, while somewhat quiet, is close to a neighborhood that is ridden with punks and thugs who caused nothing but trouble. Surroundings were never this bad when they arrived, but within the years, things just simply changed. The only time it felt safe to go outside is whenever there was daylight on the streets.

Their new home was that of a building which was a painting store and their home. On the first floor was their business which the grandfather had started by creating artworks, and fortunately his artworks were most impressive to some people, enough to be earning money. To the back of the store were some stairs that lead to the second floor, which was their home. Kitchen and living room areas were located here while the bedrooms were located on the top third floor.

Isinia was taught many things about taking caution and avoiding danger whenever possible. The only thing she wasn't told yet is what had happened to her parents. She was never allowed to attend school with other children, her grandparents believing that the first place the fox tribe would be looking is there. Although because of this, she was home schooled instead but for a small pup, she learned quickly on many subjects. She even learned certain basic martial arts, becoming very agile, and strong enough just escape from almost anything.

For now, her appearance is safe for her to go outside and play since it was extremely hard to distinguish her that she was not just from one species. She looked more having the appearance of a simple white arctic fox. Her grandparents only hoped that her appearance wouldn't change so her life wouldn't be as difficult, not to mention making it far tasking for the fox tribe to track her. The only possibly difference she had from another is that the tips of her ears were not black but rather white. So far the good news is that hardly anyone would notice and never thought twice about it.

She was never allowed to go outside unless one of her grandparents was there to watch her, not only to keep her safe but to also keep her out of trouble. Her curiosity had led her to trouble once before and learned a valuable lesson not to stray towards curiosity. Unfortunately it wouldn't be her last one because her curiosity was one instinct that was very strong. Her grandparents, thinking she had learned her lesson to avoid the instinct, have given her a bit more trust in staying out of trouble and to run back home in case of any danger.

Isinia sat on the table doing some sort of doodles on a piece of paper when her grandmother comes in and says, "Isinia dear could you go to the store on the corner real quick and get a pound of beef?" Isinia wagged her tail as she quickly got up with a smile saying, "Yes Grandma!"

"Now remember don't stray off into anything and come back before it gets dark!"

"Don't worry, I'll come back soon," she said cheerfully as she quickly got some money out of the cookie jar, which was used to save money, and head out.

Her grandmother chuckled as she saw her run out the door knowing how happy it would make her to go outside since most of the time she is forced to stay indoors for her own safety. The store wasn't that far away since it was only just two blocks down the road but it was near the forsaken neighborhood. Although Isinia knew better than to wander off by herself and she was old enough to know how to escape from almost anything.

Isinia always took the opportunity to go outside whenever she was allowed to due to being bored being inside the apartment most of the time. Most of the time she would take her time getting from one place to another when doing an errand such as this one as she always looked at her surroundings, looking at other people go by and talk to one another. Occasionally she would also look through some store's windows to see certain things they sell only to continue walking towards her destination after a few moments.

Out of all the stores that were around in the area, her most favorite was the toy store that was on the corner before crossing the first street. It was a rather small toy store but there were times when Isinia would find herself looking through all the toys the store had as if she had never seen any before. Naturally this was always the case with many children but the owner of the store, who happened to be a male grey wolf in his late forties, knew somehow that Isinia was something special. Not because he knew of her being a half breed but rather because she always visited him whenever she could, watching him create new toys. Whenever she visited him, it always brought him a smile on his face even though he never could figure out why.

Isinia's grandparents once had gone looking for her thinking she had been kidnapped but fortunately she had simply gone into the toy store looking through all the neat things the owner had created to sell. The owner had assured her grandparents that there was really nothing to fear for he had kept an eye on her throughout the entire time she was there. Her grandparents were upset but decided to put it aside as they were just relieved to see her safe and nearby their home. Once Isinia had realized where they had found her, she immediately apologized never to do it again, having never seen such a wonderful store. Her grandparents had come to trust the grey wolf after that incident because if Isinia ever got distracted, she would definitely be there.

She pushed the handle on the door and stepped into her favorite store, waving as she said, "Hi Mister Wulffrith!" The owner, Wulffrith, looked up from his work to see the young pup with a smile and said, "Why hello there Isinia! Coming to see what I made today?" She wagged her tail as she walked over to greet him closer while nodding her head, looking at his workbench to see what he's actually creating. Wulffrith gave a chuckle at the anxious Isinia as he turned to pick up what he was working on, and showing it to her.
