RESCUE.

The sun was setting and a cool breeze blew across the field, as Stephan Glazer walk back from the Foxtaur village of Pearl Lake.

Stephan was the vet in area, and was called to treat one of the tods of the village.

While working on one of the fields, trying to move a

fallen tree, he accidently tripped and broken his leg.

Accidents and injuries were not common, but when they happened, the village elders sent a messenger to the human vet, who had set up business in the area.

Stephan's reason for living close to the foxtaurs and the neighbouring wolftaur village instead of the human city was a mystery, something the human never divulged.

The elders surmised that he had good reason for being here, and when he was ready to tell them, they'll wait until then.

Stephan had assured them that he was not in any trouble with the law or anything that would threaten the community, just that circumstances prevent him from living with others of his species.

What ever the reason, the elders were grateful for his presence and medical help.

He had in the past help pregnancies that became complicated.

Vaccinated against a deadly strain of fox flu.

And other medical emergencies.

Walking down the path, Stephan came to the crossroads that separated into 3 other paths.

He came from the south, the path to the east lead to the Wolftaur village.

The path going west lead to the small fishing village that had ferries to the mainland which consists of the Human city.

Going north will lead him back home.

As he was following the path home, he heard a sound coming from the underbrush to his right.

It sounded like a fox crying.

Investigating, Stephan found a burlap containing something small and moving.

The sounds came from with was a small whimper and coughing.

Judging from the size of the bag, Stephan guest the it was a kit, maybe just a few months old.

Untying the rope that help the bag close, he opened it up and peered inside.

A small fox face looked up at him and gave a lil growl.

Upon closer examination, he realized that it was a fox morph.

Unlike the foxtaurs, were they have the body of a fox and upper torso with arms, this creature had the biped body of a human.

He also noticed that it was a vixen.

She was red, with black paws and ears.

A white front.

He reached forward to help her out, but she snapped at his hands, almost catching his skin.

Snatching his hands back, he backed up abit, allowing the young vixen to get out on her own.

She watched him with a set of astonishing unique eyes.

One was green while the other was a gold.

He sat down and waited for her to make her move.

She slowly inched out, keeping her eyes on him.

Then she collapsed on the ground, letting out a painful yelp.

Stephan leapt forward to catch her. As he caught her, she struggled and suddenly bit his arm, hard.

He didn't let go, as he knew that she had a broken leg.

She growled, through clenched teeth.

"Shhhh easy there, I'm not going to hurt you"

Stephan replied, using his calming soothing voice.

"Shhh, easy girl, I'm a vet, I wanna help you"

Slowly, the vixen eased up on the biting, then released her hold, but bared her teeth and gave a low growl.

Then, her body went limp in his arms. Eyes closed.

Quickly, he checked her pulse.

Slow, but steady.

Faint

Lifting her up, he wrapped the burlap she was in around her, to keep her warm.

Shock was a serious killer in injured animals and even humans.

He hurried home, carrying his new patient in his arms.

When he got home, he laid her in the examination table, grabbed the stethoscope and listened to her heartbeat, then checked her right hindleg.

Defiantly broken.

He first set the broken bones, and then wrapped it up in a cast put a splint on it.

Then he started setting the vixen up with an IV drip.

Dehydration was a another serious problem, if not treated quickly, the patient called die.

He then moved her to the intensive care room.

When he was sure she was comfortable, he then start to treat his own wound.

Her bite was shallow, but it still drew blood.

Cleaning and disinfecting the wound, Stephan bandaged the arm, and then proceeded to make dinner.

After checking on his patient, he settled down for the night.

Before falling to sleep, Stephan pondered a few questions.

Who was this vixen?

Who would leave her in the burlap?

What was her name?

Does she have family?

I should inform the authorities, but should I?

Closing his eyes, Stephan drifted into a restless sleep.

AMAZING GIFT!

Illumanati woke up in unfamiliar surroundings. She was in a clean room, with about 6 beds.

Something was in her arm. Something that was putting liquid in her system. At first she thought that she was back at the lab, with the white coat doctors, then she remembered the kind human offering to help her. Then guilt set in as she remembered biting him on the arm. Looking down, she saw her leg was bandaged with 2 splints on it.

If only I was stronger, I could heal my leg and leave.

Sitting up, Illumanati felt dizzy and collapsed again.

Weak from hunger.

And most proberly dehydrated as well.

It's going to take a few days before she was at full strength.

Lying there, on the bed, she thought about her friends and family, back at the lab.

The last thing she remembered before the burlap was opened, was being carried to another series of painful tests.

Then the feeling of falling, a sudden jolt when she hit the ground and the immense pain as her leg broke.

She passed out, when she came too, she was still in the burlap, and it was quiet, except for the sounds of birds and the wind.

She started crying and making noise, so that someone could hear her.

Then the bag was opened, and the human looked in at her.

Looking up at the ceiling, Illumanati thought about what she would do when the nice human returned.

Well, first things first, I'll see if I can trust him.

Feeling safe for awhile, Illumanati settled down and fell asleep.

The next time she woke, was seeing the human leaning over her, holding a cold metal circular thing on her chest which was connected to ear plug type things that were in his ears.

She didn't know what they were called, but she knew that it was an instrument for listening to heartbeats.

He saw that she was awake.

"So, how are you feeling today?" he asked, with a soothing voice, that made her feel giddy and warm inside.

She knew that she couldn't respond verbally, so she did the only thing that she could do to communicate, she used telepathy.

I'M FINE! THANK YOU! She thought, transmitting it in the humans' brain.

Stephan stumbled back in shock and amazement, knocking over one of the tables that had utensils and bandages.

"Wh- wha- whaat dii didd youu jusst sayy?" he said, wide-eyed, mouth gaping open.

I SAID THAT I WAS FINE! WHAT, ARE YOU DEAF? Illumanati thought again.

"Wow!!! Telepathy, I have heard of it, but never really experienced it"

he exclaimed, looking at the vixen in wonder.

YEAH! WELL, GET USE TO IT, IT'S THE ONLY WAY I CAN COMMUNICATE, OK?

"Sure, sure, so, My name's Stephan Glazer, and I'm the local vet here, well, the only vet here, hehe, and what is your name my young lady?"

Illumanati's ears and cheek turned red, which was the sign of embarrassment.

No one had never said things like that to her before.

UMM MY NAME IS ILLUMANATI, GLAD TO HAVE MET YOU.

"Illumanati, hmmm that means Child of Light, doesn't it?"

YES, MY SIRE IS THE SHAMAN IN OUR COMMUNITY. she thought.

"Ahh I see, so, are you hungry?"

DOES THE FOXTAUR SHIT IN THE WOODS? Illumanati replied, with a smirk on her face.

Stephan couldn't help but giggle.

Leaving the room, he came back with a fresh bowl of rabbit stew.

"I understand that this is your favourite dish among your kind, right?"

Illumanati's eyes widened with excitement.

Never had she ever had such a meal before, her mouth watered with anticipation.

At the labs, all they had were scraps of leftovers.

When Stephan gave her the bowl and a spork, she graciously bowed and Thanked Him immensely.

The meal was exquisite. Her taste buds were in heaven. The meat was cooked and juicy, the potatoes were crunchy, as well as the carrots, and the stew juices was like liquid honey with croutons.

She finished the meal and cleaned the bowl, using her tongue.

Afterwards, she let out a lil belched, and said sorry for being so rude.

"I take it you never had a meal like that before, eh?"

NO, NEVER, WE DON'T GET ANYTHING LIKE THAT AT THE L---- Illumanati stopped short, uncertained wether or not to tell the human any thing about the Lab were she was being held, like a Lab rat.

"Where?" he asked, his voice concerned as well as curious.

UMMM I DON'T KNOW WETHER I CAN TRUST YOU OR NOT
