#37 of Story Commissions

Short story commission for my buddy: Sheepherds-shield on FA: Involving her sona in a bit of an awkward situation, while gaining a bit of advice from her gorgeous blue waifu!

Thanks for commissions me!

The field of grass was alight with a silver hue as the moon's glow beamed down from the starry night sky in a beautiful shaft of elegant, pale blue. The dry stalks danced and shimmered, like smooth waves upon a dark ocean, as darkness pooled in rivers of liquid shadow amidst the many million strands. Fireflies flitted about the scene, the radiant yellow lanterns they carried upon their buzzing wings a stark contrast to the cool hue that marred the surrounding night, as dense trees encircled the clearing like a mighty bulwark, rustling in the gentle breeze.

The tranquil atmosphere was masterfully crafted by the lone figure sat in the field's center, her long, noodle-like body posed upright as she sat with her forepaws outstretched. Each one weaved about the other, as light swelled between her grasp, her shimmering eyes fixed on the swelling glow. Yet such light was not the only blossoming feature the cosmic dragoness boasted, for under the smooth fur of her tummy, her elongated figure was interrupted by the vast bump of a second-term pregnancy.

Cosmo was unsure how it had happened. One day she had simply started to feel the life blooming inside her, pressing down on her hips like a ripening watermelon growing into a heavy bowling ball within. She had to wonder if it was because she'd spent too long upon this world, that maybe the life she'd breathed into it had somehow sought to return the favor and blessed her with life of her own. Maybe it was because of her close proximity to so much life-giving magic, the excesses she may have used having somehow developed into her current pregnancy.

Either way, she could not say. All she did know is that she intended to go on with her life as if nothing was out of the ordinary. Because being a mother was one thing, she really wasn't ready for. Not that her fast-growing babies were very happy about that.

"Good, this place looks perfect. Now just gotta... Ooof!" Her proud tone of satisfaction was cut off by a wince and a gasp as she felt movement in her tummy. "Ouch, hey, I'm trying to work, stop that!"

She fixed her eyes on the bump scornfully, seeing a lump ripple from one side to the other. She'd no idea how many were in there, or what they looked like. She didn't even know her kind could get pregnant, let alone what her sisters may think if they saw her like this.

I mean, I'm huge! They're so heavy I can hardly fly! She inwardly observed, pretty sure she'd be grounded upon reaching her third trimester. _I can hardly walk as it is, and who said I was to have live pups, don't other dragons lay eggs? _

It was all very sudden and incredibly embarrassing, a feeling she did her best to shove to the back of her mind, yet a deep growl and more kicking made that almost impossible. Like her belly was full of snakes, she winced. Muzzle wrinkling as she pressed a forepaw to the peak of her bump, doing her best to stagger upright. Her paws hit the floor; short legs not designed for walking ensuring her tummy almost dragged through the cold dirt.

"It's okay, Cosmo, just ignore it..." She muttered to herself, averting her eyes from the bump with a huff. "So what if you may have gotten yourself into this mess, you can just pretend it doesn't exist."

She was a goddess, surely, she could, and that in mind she began to half waddle, half swim her way through the crisp air, clumsily snaking to the edge of the field.

"See, not too hard, I can just keep going about my work and... Gah!" There was a sharp cramp in her gut, followed by a stern kick in the ribs as it seemed her pups weren't so happy with their mother's neglect.

"Oof!" She hit the floor, face in the dirt as her butt poked up like a fuzzy, blue mound and her round belly swayed like a sack of flour.

"Okay, okay, I get it, no down talk, fine!" She huffed, snorting in the mud as she sat up and wiped it off.

Yet for all her effort to simply dismiss the situation, she knew she could not, and with an exhausted sigh, she flopped back against a tree, both forepaws on her gurgling bump as she regarded her stretched, blue coat.

"Oh, what am I going to do?" she asked herself, voice low and filled with regret, before leaning her head back as she exclaimed. "I never asked for this to happen, it just did!"

There was a slow grumble and a small flutter in her gut as she saw a serpent-like bulge roll from the base to the peak of her bump. She folded her forelegs over the top of the bulge, and looked away with a huff, yet the sensation her tummy was filled with butterflies pressed on as she sniffed.

"I... I'm just not ready!" she huffed, tail swishing in the dirt. "It's not like it's even my fault, no one warned me this could happen, no one even knew it could happen!"

She had no idea how she could take responsibility for something she'd never even known could transpire. If she had, maybe she could have prevented it, but it seemed even goddesses were not ready for all of life's little bumps in the road. With that in mind, she dared peek at her tummy again, pressing one claw to the peak.

"It's not like you have a dad to help me out... Or a mom really, do I count as both?" She could hardly even think about that, sure she'd lost her ability to shift form while stuck in her bloated state. "I just wish I had some help," she muttered with a sniff.

Her whole body felt hot with anxiety, like there were a million little thorns all poking into her skin. She drooped, feeling heavier than the mountains she'd crafted as she let out a long sigh, wiping a swelling tear from her quivering eyes.

That was until she heard a sound. A rustle in the trees and she leaned up, doing her best to stand tall as she looked about.

"W-who is it, who's there!?" she called, taking a nervous step back as she raised a forepaw and coiled her tail around her tummy. "I don't want any trouble, I mean it!"

She could hardly snarl or hiss fire, she was a dragoness of peace and creation. Yet as the sounds drew closer, she felt her heart start to race, beating so hard it was a wonder it didn't thud out of her chest. At least, until a voice called back.

"I know that voice!" The stranger muttered, and she wasn't the only one as Cosmo's ears stood tall. "Cosmo, is that...?"

A sapphire blue head poked free of the undergrowth, and Cosmo felt a wave of cold relief wash over her at the sight of the water elemental dragoness. She staggered back a little, furry butt hitting the floor with a dull thud as Risha emerged from the vegetation, a curious look on her face as her head tilted to the left in confusion.

"I-I never thought I'd see you again..." Risha rubbed the back of her neck. "After the last time we did something." The blue dragoness blushed hard. "B-But here you are and you... By the skies, are you pregnant!?"

"I-I didn't ever expect to see you again either and I... Well, no but... Kinda..." Cosmo stammered, hiding her bump, rubbing it nervously. "Okay, yeah, I am... But not in the normal way... This kinda just happened and I... Well..." Her words trailed off with a sniff as she did her best not to cry.

"Whoa, hey what's wrong?" Risha asked, slipping over to wrap a wing over the mother-to-be's back as she sat down beside her. "Are you okay?"

"I-I... No! No, I'm not!" She exclaimed, pressing her head against the curve of Risha's neck as she sobbed. "I was just out here doing my job and then I started to feel sick, then get bigger, they started to kick and I... I just don't know what to do!"

Risha tensed, seeming very unsure as she ruffled her wings and held her broody friend close. Cosmo could feel her go stiff as a board and felt only more shame at the fact she was dragging her into this.

I don't even know if she's had kids, let alone if she knows anything about having them! The goddess thought, sniffling as she pressed into Risha's smooth scales. I shouldn't bring her down with me.

"Hey, hey, shush, it's okay. Cosmo, it's okay," Risha cooed softly, nuzzling her fluffy friend's neck. "I don't care how it happened, but you're okay, so are your babies."

"M-my babies" Cosmo asked, leaning back with a whimper and wiping her face. "No one's ever called them that before?"

True, not a soul had ever even seen her this way, let alone recognized that she was halfway to popping. Yet Risha's warm smile and observations calmed her nerves, making her feel warm and fuzzy. She pressed a forepaw to the side of her bump, feeling a soft shift as a pup pressed back.

"Well, sure... I mean, I've never been broody myself, not yet. But I think it looks good on you," Risha admitted, shying away with a hint of bashfulness.

"I-It does?" Cosmo stammered, discovering it was her turn to shrink back as she blushed so hard her face was as pink as her taut tummy. "I guess... But I... I don't know if I can do it."

"Sure, you can, honey." Risha giggled. "You're the mother of all life here in a way, so what's some little noodles of your own?"

"I guess, if you put it that way." Cosmo suddenly felt warm and giddy at the idea, before feeling a kick. "Oof, hey, stop that!"

"Aww, they're kicking!" Risha squealed in shrill excitement. "That's so sweet, dragonesses hardly ever see live young!"

"Trust me, I feel like eggs would be easier," Cosmo huffed, as Risha reached out with one forepaw, holding it just off the bump as she asked for permission.

"Go ahead..." Cosmo winced at another flutter. "All this kicking, I think they like you."

"Well, I was always good with hatchlings... Or pups in your case, I guess." The water dragoness giggled. "Oh, by the creators, they're so strong!"

"Don't have to remind me, little gods and goddesses... They'll be strong flyers the moment they pop out," Cosmo admitted, peering at her belly lovingly, as Risha rubbed.

"Just like their mother!" She pressed the tip of her snout to the bump, giggling like a dragoness on her first flight. "Hey in there, little guys, your auntie Risha is here now."

"Antie Risha?" Cosmo asked, cocking her head as she blushed redder than a fire flower. "Y-You mean, you'll stay?"

"What, you think I'd let you do this alone?" Risha leaned up, eyes lidded as Cosmo grew flustered beyond belief.

"N-no... I just... Don't want to cause trouble, I..." Risha leaned forward, pressing a forepaw to the goddesses' fluffy chest as she planted a soft kiss on her fuzzy cheek.

"Oh, no trouble at all," she cooed, Cosmo's eyes wide as saucers as her brain crashed and she swayed, almost fainting if not for Risha's strong wings. "I'll stay with you for as long as you need, sweetie."
