The girl was taken aback, frighten even. It was like she has never seen someone like her before. The little girl was staring at a half dragon. A half human half dragon combination anyway. This half dragon has purple hair and purple eyes. Her skin was a tan color but on it was scales. These scales are black with red bits that glow, like they would burn. She has a tail and wings. She wears black leather armor underneath her black robes and wields a morning star. "What's wrong kid? Cat got your tongue?" The little girl continued to back up and quite literally back herself into a corner. "Come on kid, I ain't gonna hurt you. I mean I know that it looks like I might but, honestly.."

The little girl clung to her stuffed doll and looked like she was about to cry. The half-dragon sighed. It wasn't easy being evil and having a soft heart. In fact it was and still is quite ironic to her. The half-dragon sat on the ground and smiled at the little girl, trying to get her to stopped being so frightened of her.

The little girl slowly started to calm down and moved out of the corner, step by step. The half-dragon continued to smile at her and introduced herself, "My name is Ixen. It means fire in draconic. Have you ever heard people speaking in draconic?" The little girl shook her head and clutched the stuffed doll even closer to her tiny chest. "Well draconic is a funny way of speaking. Might sound like a snake hissing or something like that. Certainly not like elven. Which is all lyrical to those who aren't elves. Or so it sounds that way" The little girl was close enough now to grab, but Ixen decided to take things a little more slowly. A voice then popped into Ixen's mind 'hurry and get it over with. Its not like all of us have all night.' Ixen rolled her eyes and shook her head a little, He was so impatient. Sometimes you have to take things a little more slowly then you would like.

The little girl was then sitting in Ixen's lap. "See I'm not so scary up close and personal." Ixen smiled at the little girl. "I know you saw those scary guys killed your parents. But I am not going to let them touch you. You are special. Don't ask me how I know, but I do." The voice popped into her head again ' You do realize I am on top of the building you are leaning against, right? I can hear you from up here. So why aren't you gonna kill the kid? You are gonna have to explain that to me when we get back. Plus if you are gonna keep her, you have to keep an eye on her at all times. And make sure she doesn't get in the way. Otherwise I will kill her, special or not'

Ixen looked up and stuck her tongue out at her superior on the roof of the building. They would see. I mean they might belong to a guild of assassins, but that doesn't mean they have to go knocking out or killing every person that they see. The Night Mother will show her how this child is special. It might take a while seeing as her superiors are mostly male and the god of death demands certain things of his children, but Ixen trusted in the night mother. 'I saw that Ixen. I don't think he is very pleased with you, but some things can't be helped. (a small unsettling laughter is heard in Ixen's head) Myself on the other hand is wondering exactly what potenal this child holds. We will see I suppose. You do realize though, he means what he says. Meaning it will probably be best if you keep the child in your room. Even though she is bound to get out. It will be amusing to see what he does when he does run across the child when you are not around. I am looking forward to it. See you when you get back to base (more of the same laughter)' The second figure then disappears in a poof of black smoke.

Ixen sighs. This was going to be a long night. Ixen's stomach growled just then. The girl let loose a small giggle. Ixen smiled down at the girl. "Yea I suppose it would be a good idea to get something to eat. Are you hungry? I know I am. (Ixen lets herself giggle a little, trying to put the child at ease.) The child nodded a little. "Well I suppose we should be getting back home then. Well your new home anyway. Are you ready to go?" Ixen sighs again, regretting some of the innocents that she had killed, but it could not be helped. Most of the group were just born to be cold blooded killers. She however had been gifted... or was it cursed with a soft heart. It wasn't always a bad thing, though more times than not it made her superiors mad at her.

Good thing though she hadn't taken to one of the other members, meaning she had a room to herself.. Well she did. Until tonight though, now she had a seven year old room mate that probably was going to be afraid to talk for awhile. But who knows, things might go a little quicker than they imaged. Then again all people progress at different rates, so it might be years before this girl decided to take the chance to speak again.. Ixen sighed heavily but had a smile on her face as she did so, knowing that she had done the right thing. Of course Ixen would get harassed by some of the other members, and this was something not to be taken lightly, then again most of them are stuck up pricks and bitches.

She looked down at her newly scored prize. Well this kid certainly seemed like a prize to Ixen anyway, for the simple fact that her superior hadn't killed her in front of Ixen. In a way Ixen was glad that she now had something precious to protect, but she was also sad that this kid wouldn't know a normal life. Then again life is what you make it or so they say. "We better get going, it is a bit far to walk from here but it will give him a couple days to cool his jets about you. We will stop somewhere along the way to sleep rather than taking the sweet and simple way of doing things. What do you think?" Ixen again smiled down at the child and then picked her up and put her on her shoulders. "Back to adventure."

So they started walking, instead of using the teleportation that she would normally use to get back fast. It was the first time since joining that she had truly been so insubordinate. He would not be please when she got back, then again when was Tharivol ever please with anything except that sluty girl of his. Just thinking about it made her sick to her stomach. Well people had their preferences. I mean Tharivol's girl was nice and all but damn... It seemed like she just wanted sex all the time. Sex isn't a bad thing by any means but sometimes enough is a enough and you just have to stop. Seriously it was like she is addicted to it.. On the other hand though, you had two other members of the group a dragon kin and a werewolf lord who is stuck in his hybrid form and they doing a lot of fucking as well.

Ixen shook her head trying to clear her thoughts. The little girl had wrapped her arms around Ixen's forehead and lay her head there. Ixen had to give a small smile. "Well kid, we have to give you a new name, considering I never learned your old one. How about a name from the language of my people? Well not the human side anyway, but my dragon side? Would you like that?" The girl smiled for the first time that night and Ixen knew that they were going to be great friends no matter they difference of age. And maybe in time this girl would look upon Ixen as mother and friend rather than some scary stranger.

Meanwhile... back at the Dark Brotherhood's home base, Tharivol, whom has black hair, pale skin, stands around five feet eleven inches tall and has ruby red eyes, was pacing around in the throne room seeming awaiting the arrival of Ixen. Asura came into the room and Tharivol looked up and frowned at her. "Where is Ixen?" he asked her. Asura replied, "She has not yet arrived. I wasn't there but I heard some of the rumors that are going around. Is it true she is bring a child back with her?" Tharivol growled a lowly in his throat and turned his fierce gaze towards Asura and simply stated in an agitated tone of voice "Yes... We killed most of the village but this one girl ran from us. I tasked Ixen with tracking her down and killing her. The child was cornered with no place to run and I was on a building above her watching it unfold. That's when Ixen defied me." Asura moved to Tharivol's side and tried to comfort him.

Tharivol however did not want to be comforted, sure he still wanted to turn Asura into a vampire, but that was a discussion for another time. Tharivol sighed heavily.. He turned to grab Asura by the shoulders and looked her straight in the eye, "Tell one of the scouting parties to go search for Ixen. I know sometimes she goes off on her own for days at a time sometimes but she is needed and I need to discuss the child's future with her. I am not pleased she decided to take the long way home after today's mission but it will be dealt with at another time."

Asura tilted her head slightly, "Do you mean to punish Ixen? I do know that you do like to torture some of the members for not obeying you. The Night Mother may have had a reason or Ixen and this child to go off on their own. Depending on how much the child saw of the killing and how well she can adapt to new situations will determine how useful she can be to us. I will do as you say." Asura smiled slightly and turned and left Tharivol in the throne room alone. He sighed again and plopped down in the throne. He was not happy with Ixen's behavior but that was something to be dealt with when she got back. Though knowing Ixen like he did or rather like he does, he knows that she will take precautions to avoid being spotted by his scouts. He shook his head and closed his eyes to think.

Asura went to the scout's outpost and entered, being close to Tharivol had its privileges. One of the scout party leaders was in having a small cup of coffee. He looked up with a surprised look in his eye, he was only human.. "Ah, lady Asura, it is a humble pleasure to have you in this part of the base. What can I do for you?" Asura paid him no mind for a short time, taking the time to look around the room, very few of the scouting parties were actually here she noticed. When she did pay attention to him "Very few of our scouts are here. I wonder why." he replied, "well my lady, our lord has been keeping us busy gathering Intel and information. I am not sure why but it seemed like a important task at the time." Asura nodded, not really listening to him banter on about the unimportant.

"How many squads are here captain?" Asura asked finally looking him in the face. The captains face turned a bright red color because Asura has turned her head to look at him when he was looking where he shouldn't be. "wha wha what do you meaan my laady?" Asura glared at him, he was below her station and should know his place but apparently some of the lesser males did not. "I did not mean it in that fashion. So get your mind straight and take your squad and one other and go look for Ixen. She will be deploying her usual tactics not to mention she has a child with her last I heard. So do not injure them or Tharivol will be most unpleased. Make it a quick search as well. Leave no stone unturned and all those human phrases."

The captain responded by saying "Yes, my lady. We shall have Ixen and the child here before sun up." Asura was already turning to leave, gave one last look over her shoulder, "I hope so captain. For your sake." Asura left and heard the captains muffled shouting from behind the closed door. Asura turned and headed to her tower. She had to go prepare her spells for the next mission, which could come at anytime. Asura was wondering what Ixen was up to, Ixen could be a cold blooded killer like the rest of the members but had a heart that was what some would call fragile. Ixen sometimes wore her heart on her sleeve, but that never stopped her from killing an innocent before. 'What gives Ixen?' Asura thought to herself.

So on the back to her tower Asura saw DeNdi motion her over. DeNdi had a slight smile on her face. "So its true then? Ixen has run off with a child she was suppose to kill?" Asura replied, "Yes, unfortunately. Ixen will be facing punishment when she gets back. How severe depends on how soon she gets back, I suppose. I expect that she will have to face a wraith. It should be an interesting fight considering Ixen's psionic abilities." DeNdi smirked "Yes, it is the first time in a while that someone will have to face a wraith. The last person who did so didn't make it very entertaining. Decapitated in one hit. Boring... Well that is if she does have to face a wraith which she might." Asura giggled, " Care to make a bet on it my friend?" They two shook hands and Asura went to her tower to rest and plan.

Ixen had been walking for hours now. The girl had been sleeping soundly with a soft snore every now and then. Ixen smiled to herself. She would have usually killed a little girl like this but this one was different. Or so it seemed to Ixen that she was different. There was that inn coming up on the right side of the road now. She would pay for a night there. However they would not spend the full night. Ixen knew she needed to keep moving because Tharivol's hounds would come calling sooner or later. Honestly some of the hounds were easy to deal with, bribes and such. On the other bloody spotted hand was the hounds that would take her down in a heartbeat. Those she meant to avoid at all costs.

They arrived at the inn an hour or so before midnight. This was one of the few inns on the road back to where they headed. Ixen thought to herself ' The kid and I would be better off sleeping outside. Just look at this place. Dirt and grim every where. I bet this place doesn't even have a clean plate to eat off of.' Ixen sighed then went in anyway. The inn keeper or bar maiden or was it a possibility that she was both? The bar maiden looked up from what she was doing, which was basically nothing considering the inn was pretty much empty anyway. "May I help you?" the bar maiden said in a southern accent. Ixen coughed, changing the pitch of her voice a little, "I would like a room please." sounding a little gruffer than she normally did. "That'll be ten gold pieces. An if you no be liking the price then ya can go else where." Ixen just nodded and practically threw the money on the counter then headed up the stairs to the room she had rented.

Inside the room was only one bed and the room was barely big enough to hold two adults. Ixen lay the child on the bed and pulled the hole filled blanket over her as well as taking off her cloak and placing it over the child as well. The girl woke up for a small time and rubbed her eyes sleepily. "Where are we?" she asked sitting up the over sized cloak easily slipping off her small frame onto the bed. Ixen looked at her then smiled. "ah so found your voice again so soon little one? I'm glad to hear your voice. I was worried for a while. As far as for where we are, an inn north of your destroyed town. I am still sorry you had to witness so much destruction." Ixen wept a little. The girl slid off the bed and walked over to Ixen and wiped the tears from her eyes. "Please don't cry. Mama always told me never to cry. I don't know why though. I don't think she liked seeing people sad."

Ixen nodded. Crying didn't suit her or at least that is what people told her. She cried anyway because sometimes it made her feel a bit better about the path of life she was walking on. The child gave Ixen a hug. "So where are we going anyway? You never did tell me. Not to mention you have a pretty singing voice. I heard a little bit of it while I was drifting in and out of sleep." Ixen blushed. "Well.. I'm a little embarrassed. Even though I take it as a complement. I should tell you we are not safe. We will only be here for a quick nap, then we will be back on the road . And I should probably give you a new name eh?" The girl nodded. "A new name for a new life? Sounds reasonable enough"

Ixen sat there thinking for a little while. Trying to think of a suitable name for this little one. Ixen looked at the child, the child stood at her current age a little taller than 4' 0" tall. Had a fair appearance. Her skin was a pale ebony, her hair seemed to be a pale blonde or more of a whitish color. Her ears looked elven but Ixen wasn't exactly how elven this girl was or should say is. It almost seemed like this girl was a half drow. Ixen was not sure. She did not want to give the girl a wrong seeming name. Ixen wished she knew more about the girl. It also seemed like she had a bit of draconic in her. How much was also in question, determining if it was just a bloodline or more was going to be hard. She didn't have wings like Ixen, which was slightly not normal but things happen. Well maybe get back to base and deal with stuff there and then find out what the girl was interested in.

"It is late. We should get some sleep or at least try to get some sleep. So come here." Ixen held her arms open wise and the girl snuggled into Ixen's arms also bring Ixen's cloak over and using it as a blanket, Ixen then wrapped her wings around her body and the child. Ixen closed her eyes, but kept her senses as alert as she could before she fell asleep.

A couple of hours later, the child woke with a start, she was shivering. She placed her hands on Ixen's shoulders and shook a her a little. Ixen mumbled a little and opened one eye, "hmm..." Ixen slowly woke from her sleep.
