This is by far the longest chapter I've written. I tried a lot of different things with this but I'm quite proud of it I'll try to have chapter 7 out next month. As usual comments and feedback appreciated.

Roy had finally found a moment to rest in the jungle he'd been thrown into. Huffing and puffing, the Nightmare took the time to get a better bearing on his current situation. From what he could piece together, this dense jungle was courtesy of Vertigo. She was projecting this area and the hostile plants that he found himself up against. He had no luck contacting either Caliber or Vertigo as well. Finding one of them was the goal, sure, but to offer no guidance at all? That was no way to train someone in his mind. Still not like he could truly argue with them currently. " Right, just find one and this will be over.", He reassured him and stood. He at least could find solace in the fact that there did seem to be a few areas in which he could safely rest. So for all the harshness of the training, he did have slight reprieve from it. He looked at the sword given to him by Caliber at the start of this. It was a fairly generic looking sword, lacking the flourish and detailed look of his actual blades. He had yet to figure out how to even use it considering how Caliber said it mimicked his powers and Vertigo's as well. It was starting to get to him. He couldn't stay still forever and think however. If this was training, he had to get moving. If the plane touched down and he learned nothing, he'd be in a bind. And so Roy proceeded back into the jungle.

Within the realm that is Roy's mind, Caliber and Vertigo sat and watched their new wielder within the jungle. The two were still within the vast mental scape above the jungle. "Are you sure we shouldn't say anything? He looks like he's struggling..." Vertigo watched intently from beside her fellow weapon. She wasn't very on board with dropping Roy into what is, in essence, a deathtrap. She wasn't opposed necessarily to tough training, but with no guidance? It seemed cruel. "This method has dual purposes. This journey will not be a gentle one. He will suffer a great deal more than even this. If he cannot handle it, then we simply need to find a new person to wield us." Caliber spoke in a rather serious tone. More so than usual. He had faith in Roy, much more than one would think. However, he knew very well that with his determination alone, he wouldn't survive the journey. He needed this. "T-this isn't even our area of expertise though. With Draken, I'd be more at ease but this..." Vertigo was very distraught at this idea. A scream of agony from the Nightmare in question only put her more in that mind set. She bit her lip at the sound. Was this right? She could stop it if she wanted. Maybe she should... "This will be fine. Believe me. Draken would do worse and you are aware of that. He's capable of far far worse. If it puts you at ease, if he truly seems ready to give up. I'll let you stop it. But he has to give up." Caliber made his point clear. He saw Roy's soul from the moment he entered that forest. Never had he seen an individual, human or monster, with such an intense emotional core. One with so much hidden drive. He had never been truly pushed. Not to a point where he needed to make use of that. Caliber knew Roy could push through this. He had to. Vertigo could only nod as the two continued to watch. She hoped Roy would give in. Not out of malice, but out of concern. He was a truly nice person. One with a surprisingly deep understanding and connection to the life around him. For him to be put on a journey like this...She felt he'd die far too young. However, now was his time to prove otherwise. So the two observed him once more, waiting to see how he'd handle everything.

How long had it been by now? Roy was convinced he'd been inside this jungle for weeks at this point. But he still hadn't found either Caliber or Vertigo. He hadn't woken up on the plane. And he was exhausted from searching. "Does time flow differently here..?" He questioned himself. If that were the case, it'd explain why Caliber had been so confident that he'd learn a great deal in the few hours they had until landing. Roy's ears twitched a bit, shaking him from his thoughts as he jumped out of the way of a massive vine. The hostile foliage was ready to attack him more and all he could do was fight. Sprinting forward, vines and thorns began to shoot out towards him. His body began to move before his mind could, blocking or slashing at anything that came too close to him. If anything, the time he spent here had definitely made his reflexes sharper. However, even with the improvement it only helped him but so much. He wasn't strong enough to cut cleanly through most of the vines, and barely able to block other attacks. He was still bombarded from all over constantly and viciously. After trying to defend himself for long enough, Roy finally found a safe spot, diving into it. The onslaught of vines and thorns stopped, he finally laid on the ground and took time to rest.

"Fuckin' hell...This is hell..." came from Roy, laying in a heap on the ground. He'd been caught off guard while making his way and was thoroughly brutalized as a result. He had no idea how long it had been since he found himself in this jungle now. Weeks? Maybe months? All he knew is that he could not die. Not due to his unwillingness to do so, but an inability. He had come to understand that within this place all the pain he experienced was quite real. However, no matter how much he was beaten, he was unable to truly die. Blackout yes. But never die. The thought brought him some level of comfort, however he was at an impasse. He'd been searching for so long and found neither Vertigo or Caliber. Learned nothing of their powers. He was beginning to believe it was a mistake to take the swords at all. "... They're probably laughin' at me...The cocks.." he heaved as he began to force his body to roll on it's back. As he took long labored breaths, Roy began to regain his composure. He wasn't completely sold on being a chosen hero fated to help rid the world of a great evil. To him, it all sounded like something more fit in line with someone else. Yet he was chosen. He couldn't just step away, even if he wanted. That's how these things work, he mused. He sighed softly, and clenched onto the sword given to him in the beginning. "...Doubt is a product of fear. Confidence is doubt that you confront and overcome..." Roy remembered those words from one of his mothers. He was afraid. Of whatever this journey had to offer. That he'd fail. But he had to try, and press on. It was basically his job now. Groaning, he forced himself to his feet and ventured once more into the jungle. His mind back at ease.

"Guh..F..fuck.." Roy was clutching the sword he had tightly, as he knelt on the ground. He was surrounded by the forest once more, having managed to fight back for longer this time. However, he was extremely fatigued and hurt. No amount of tenacity was going to make him move. He grimaced as he felt a vine grip one of his legs and drag him upwards into the canopy. He tried to swing his blade to cut it, but another vine shot out and held back his arm. By the time he was deep in the treetops, all of his limbs were being restrained. "Stupid fuckin'...plants..." he choked out, doing all he could to resist. Suddenly the vines began to pull. Were they trying to dismember him now!? Roy was in a bind now. Quite literally. He had no idea if he could be dismembered in his own mind, but was not trying to find out. Gritting his teeth, he began to pull back at the vines. His muscles ached, some felt like they had already torn slightly. But he continued to resist, through the immense amounts of pain. Roy found himself looking at the sword given to him now. "..Come on...Come on..ya fuckin' bitch.." he growled. He needed something. Anything to happen. He closed his eyes tightly as the vines began to overpower him. He was scared. He was scared but even more so he was angry. He was fuming at the fact he couldn't find a way, any way, to use the gifts given to him. He was mad that the two meant to help him were not. He. Was. Mad. Then suddenly, he felt something. It was familiar in a way. Like his body was going into a euphoric state. He felt stronger, and like his pain was disappearing. He growled as he opened his eyes. "Let...me...GO..!" Roy said as he jerked his left arm free of one of the vines. As he did, he slashed forward with the blade he had and a strange energy shot out from the blade. The energy desomated the trees around him, forcing the vines to finally let him go. Roy fell to the ground and hit it hard, groaning as he did. "Well.. that's one way to get down." He joked to himself. He looked up at the destruction he had caused and looked dumbfounded. He looked around for the sword he had and found two things that shocked him more. Firstly, the sword had become a near identical one to what Caliber was. And secondly, his eyes had turned yellow. All except his pupils. He grabbed the blade and stared at himself in the reflection. "...I look like a damn cat with these eyes." Was all he could say.

Having taken time to recover, Roy was sitting in one of the many safe zones throughout the jungle. Currently his mind was focused on the blade with him. He felt more connected with it the longer he used it. He had learned quite a lot since initially gaining it. He could tell using it for too long drained him. So he was getting into a habit of taking breaks between exploring to recover stamina. If what he was thinking was true, he figured in real time he'd only have roughly 20 minutes to have Caliber out if he actively wasn't using any of his abilities. He'd have less in combat he had come to discover. "Hmm..'Right. Gotta try for Vertigo now, eh?" Roy mumbled to himself, scratching behind his ear a bit. He gently closed his eyes and focused. He needed to connect with Vertigo now as well. But how to do it was out of his mind recently. For Caliber, it was easy now. He just needed to focus intensely on himself. His emotions. Letting them burst out and rumble, would allow him deeper control of Caliber. Vertigo was harder for him though. What would he have to do to connect to a sword of life? His mind raced. His brow tensed. Yet no ideas came. "Gah! Stupid swords. Not explainin' one thing! How's a man to learn with no direction!" He yelled out at no one in particular. Laying on his back, Roy just started relaxing. The lack of wildlife within this jungle made it very easy to enjoy the things around him. The two really made it feel real in his head. The heavy humid air, the smell of incoming rain, the feel of the ground beneath him. It all felt so real to him. He wondered how they did it. Maybe something to do with what Caliber said. How this training would be 'etched into his very soul'. Roy didn't know. He didn't care for the moment. He just let himself melt away into bliss for a while, before having to head back out. Then he felt a new pulse in his heart. He was taken aback by it at first. However, he soon grew accustomed to it. It was different from what he felt from Caliber. This was gentle, and blissful. It made his body feel lighter, and more in tune with his surroundings. He could even feel beyond his own mind. The other passengers on the plane, the pilots, and even people below. He could sense them all. He felt overwhelmed, yet he continued with the feeling. Continued to let it travel through him. He felt his breathing slow. Relax. As he began to melt into that feeling. Slowly the intensity of it faded. And then there was only bliss. Roy opened his eyes slowly, as if waking from a dream. He was still in the jungle, but it felt different now. Like his surroundings were completely in tune with his own mind and will. He gripped his sword and it felt different as well. It was in the shape of Vertigo now. His eyes had changed again, now in a deep green color. Roy couldn't help but chuckle. He felt most, if not all, of his injuries beginning to fade away. He was getting healed. He could feel it now. This training was about to turn around.

Rustling as bushes and branches were displaced could be heard through the jungle now. Roy was blitzing through with a new sense of power and vigor. The jungle was no less aggressive towards him though. If anything, it had become even more hostile thanks to his now found powers. This did little to slow down Roy though. As massive vines began to descend on him, he swapped to using Caliber's essence to hack them down swiftly. His stride never broke as he continued his rush. More and more lethal foliage came his way, but he dodged and cut it all with grace. His strength and speed are only amplified by using these blades. "Just a bit more. Gotta keep at it." He spoke to himself, as he continued. A fast swap to Vertigo's essence and his movements changed. He spun the blade at his side as he began walking instead. The whirling of the blade was audible as it cut the very air. Quickly, he swung upwards causing his own plants to erupt from beneath him. Moving upwards, he continued to cut down any obstacle that made its way towards him. Jumping to a nearby tree, he plunged his blade into it, looking through the vastness of his training grounds. He had been doing this for some time now. Now that he was finally getting used to his weapons, he could survey in a fashion that he couldn't manage beforehand. Looking out he finally found signs of one of the two swords he was looking for. Two distinct lights at opposite ends of the jungle. One a golden yellow and the other a distinct pink. He was headed towards the pink currently, as it was the closest. He estimated that with a few more days, or technically hours, he'd be able to make it. "Right, just a bit more." He reassured himself as he got moving again.

Caliber sat within the forest now with a look of triumph on his face. He knew Roy could do it! His plan worked in the long run. "This naivé truly was our best choice." He chuckled as he relaxed. Caliber was positively ecstatic at Roy's progression. He seemed to grasp and get comfortable with everything quickly. Caliber hadn't felt like this in some time. If Roy could do this with each blade, he'd be a force to be reckoned with in no time. "Um, how much longer do you think he'll be?" Came Vertigo. She was in a different part of the jungle at the current moment, though it mattered little for them in terms of communication. "He's heading towards you. At his current pace, he should arrive within the next hour." Caliber replied. Vertigo had become quite surprised with Roy by this point. She didn't expect him to grow so quickly nor did she expect him to refuse to give up. With how difficult Caliber had her make things, Vertigo was positive that Roy would rather stop. To her surprise, and honest relief, he didn't. She found herself in a similar state to Caliber. Happy to see him thrive and having her faith in him only grow. Only one last hurdle to go.

Roy finally approached the area where Vertigo was staying. He started to make his way forward to finally end this ordeal, however he could sense something as he approached. The ground began to rumble as it seemed the whole jungle began to converge to his position. He shielded himself as everything formed into one massive form. Towering over Roy, within its core sat Vertigo's light form. 'Your training is near complete, young naivé. Defeat that beast of Wood and Vine. Reclaim Vertigo from within it. And you will be ready.' Caliber's voice echoed around Roy. The monster rolled his shoulders and, as a true sign of ferocity, bared his teeth. They were sharp, almost shark-like, and non-distinguishable from the rest of him aside from the shape. "Finally, I'm about ready to wake up. OI! Ya big bush! Hope you're ready to get a good trimming!" Roy declared confidently, pointing his sword at the full formed monster. And with that declaration, his final test began. The beast was quick to summon more of the same vines Roy had become accustomed to over the course of his time here. A quick backstep and pivot to the side took Roy clear out of danger. Dragging this fight out wouldn't be any help to him. He needed to make very decisive strikes and finish it in a manner that netted him Vertigo as well. Roy took to a simple solution. Hack off the limbs and then shoot through the heart. Easy tactics. A soft exhale signaled his advance forward. Using Vertigo's power, he summoned his own plants to fight back the titan's own. Using this, Roy swiftly made his way closer and closer. As he reached near it, the titan threw a punch towards his position. Hot swapping to Caliber now, Roy roared out as he swung his blade at the fist. The two attacks collided, but Roy's was the one to win the day. Slicing through the titan's fist like a knife through butter, Roy infused the slash with raw soul energy as he followed through. The resulting force completely blowing the beast's right arm clean off. Stumbling back, the planet behemoth was left wide open as Roy attacked once more. Exhaling deeply, Roy gripped his sword with both hands and swung horizontally hacking off the titan's legs. He was dominating this battle, a clear sign that all his suffering was worth it. Switching quickly to Vertigo's essence, Roy began setting up his final attack to end this. The beast wasn't content on letting him have it easily though. As a last ditch effort to prevent him from leaving. Making millions of tiny thorns all over its body, the titan got ready. Roy was already ready however. He had summoned two massive vines and was currently sitting on them. Aiming to where he wanted to go. Eyeing Vertigo's light, he closed his eyes and prepared. Whirling his blade around, he yelled out as his vines flung him forward. At that very moment, the titan shot off every single thorn it had at Roy. But it was far too late. Even as the thorn began cutting and digging into his body Roy continued forward. Gritting his teeth, he slashed his final obstacle open and touched Vertigo's light at last. As he grabbed it, Roy felt his body grow light. The area he once was in turned to white and...
