"What about Dad?" I ask. "Master James will worry about you being happy, but he'll quickly see the depth of the love you share with Vladimir" Alfred says. "He'll be happy for you" Alfred says. Sometimes I'm awed at how much the little family I've built loves me so.

I sit and drink my soda when Alfred goes back into the kitchen. I sit and I watch Rory and Vlad swimming. I'm struck by how much Rory loves having Vlad swimming with him. Rory comes out of the pool and takes his beer and sits by me. "He's an amazing Bear, Claude" Rory says. I smile.
