Chapter Seven

"Hold Onto Your Butts"

Lou ripped his notes and diagrams he plastered on the walls of the office he was given in C.I.Z.A. Leggo sat silently as Lou raged as he tore up his displays and yelled about how his plans had failed. Leggo knew better than to disturb him when he got like this because he knew from experience that he needed to work it out for himself.

Merrik leaned silently against the wall with a little smirk on his maw as he watched the deer in the midst of his tantrum. Leggo had already warned him about saying anything but he was so tempted to get the dig in to piss off Lou even more. Not solely because he wanted to torment him but for the pure science of it to see what kind of reaction could be achieved.

The marriage certificate, why didn't I think of the marriage certificate?" Lou yelled at himself. "I think he knows more than he let on, the question is how much more does he know and if he suspects C.I.Z.A. is involved then why the whole let's invite you as part of the community spiel. He also mentioned some kind of indoctrination period but who knows how long the brainwashing will last." Lou continued then finally he turned to address the other two.

"Is your temper tantrum done now?" Merrik asked.

"It's not a temper tantrum, I just need to work things out so as not to make the same mistakes twice." Lou tried to reply calmly.

"You may not get a second chance because the whole operation has gone to shit. You were supposed to be this genius and you weasled your way to being the sole one to make decisions and planning and look where it got us?! I'm definitely calling in my teams now and see if there is a way to salvage this. Let me be clear that IF I decide to allow you to continue working on this my team will be running the show now. Consider yourself on observer status only." Merrik ordered.

"Then you're a bigger fool than I thought originally. The reason I took the lead was because you're going after a former member of your little group. He knows the tricks your agents will use and it will end worse once he fully recognizes your tactics. You want your agents to take the lead then OK I'm out but so is my husband because I refuse to let him be part of one of their attempts. I'm not going to allow them to put his life in danger anymore.

What Bear has proved is that he is not just anyone you can let things slip by and when your people fail it's you and him that will face the consequences. Let me rephrase because he won't be joining in anymore. YOU will face the consequences of their actions and they and you will solely bear the responsibility for what happens." Lou stated and he took out the special ID card he was given and placed it on the table. He began to collect his belongings as Merrik scrutinized him. Leggo sat in his chair in silence as he watched Lou with his paws folded on his lap.

"Well if you want to run away then good luck, nice doing business with you." Merrik sneered. Lou nodded at him then turned to Leggo after grabbing his box.

"You ready?" Lou asked Leggo.

"HA! Never thought I'd see a deer run away with his tail between his legs." Merrik retorted

"But I promised Sanic," Leggo replied as he grabbed the box from his husband.

"I'll think of something but we'll get you back there and you can be with him and help rebuild their community once we get rid of Bear. I wouldn't worry about these clowns because Bear will eat them alive once their plans fail faster than mine did." Lou remarked as he gave a quick glance at Merrik and started towards the door.

"You leave, there is no coming back, I'm warning you." Merrik shouted but Lou ignored him. Suddenly Lou stopped as a paw gripped his tail and he turned to see Leggo holding the box with one hand and the tail in the other.

"Do I ask for much?" Leggo asked and stared at the paw holding his tail then he sighed deeply because he knew what was coming.

"You want the moon, Leggo? Just say the word and I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey, that's a pretty good idea. I'll give you the moon." Lou replied.

"Do you remember how much I begged and pleaded for you to buy Tyger and Lyon?" Lego asked.

"I remember you begged and pleaded for me to buy a slave we could make our own. Getting Tyger and Lyon was a stroke of luck because the fox gave me an incredible deal on them both." Lou lied. The whole experience played over and over in his mind because it had to be one of the best days of his life and even though he was a grump that day he would never trade it for the world. Leggo was the first to approach the cubs in their cages and he insisted that they be bought. Lou refused but he lost all resolve he had as soon as Leggo asked for them. Both of them! Even though originally the plan was for just one cub.

The slaver was more than willing to make a deal to get rid of both because most species won't buy rare white fur slaves. Lou was able to capitalize on that and bought them both. Even though he set it in his heart not to fall in love with them he again lost all resolve and fell head over hooves in love and set about transfusing his blood and Leggo's into them making the cubs their natural born sons.

"Have you ever regretted it?" Leggo asked.

"Of course not! They're the best thing in my life, next to you that is." Lou replied. He still became jealous over how much the cubs love Leggo more than him but Leggo seemed to lower himself to their levels while he had to remain the adult. The one thing he was always proud of was that Tyger took after him while Lyon took after Leggo.

Now that they were getting older they were becoming the men that made him proud to be their father. It wasn't always easy and he always tried to do the best he could but he never regretted it. Lyon had been so emotionally abused that it made him wonder if they could ever help him heal. He would suffer from terrible nightmares of how his former parents abused him that he would wake up crying and they would rush in to comfort him and change the soiled bed sheets.

When he made his first friend, Dash, the cub was finally able to break free from the pain of his past and that was why Dash also held a special place in his heart also. He fought to keep them friends when Dash's mother, Haru, wanted to keep her son away from Lyon. Lou called her up and set her straight on what his son had gone through. Once she realized how important their friendship was she accepted Lyon and even became very friendly with him and Leggo. Even now she makes plans to visit them and keep up on what each other knows about them while they're in school.

"I know you don't want to hear this but I don't think we should walk away. Once Bear is brought down, I believe The White Citadel will need us to help get them back on their feet and move forward. Overall It's a great idea but I definitely believe that Bear is very dangerous and can't be left alone but walking away is not an option." Leggo said.

"Yeah," Merrik replied and Lou gave him a dirty look. Lou stepped up and took the box from Leggo and put it back on the desk. He sighed deeply then turned back to face them.

"Fine, We won't walk away but don't expect me to get involved. I'll sit back and watch your team fail. However, I'm still making it very clear that Leggo you are not getting involved because moving forward with 'his' team will put your life in danger and you have two sons that need you." Lou replied.

"Why don't you get off your high horse and if you help the team put the next plan together there's a better chance of success rather than watching them fail. We should be working together in order to achieve success." Merrik replied.

"Because it's obvious that you guys need to learn the hard way that you're dealing with a former agent and unless you can think outside the box, you will fail. Your team was trained to follow protocols and until they learn not to do that then they are not any good. Give me a team that can do that and I'll work with them." Lou stated.

Leggo and Lou walked outside the C.I.Z.A. base and Lou took out a small device and began to scan his jeep. He removed several tracking devices and microphones that had been installed without his permission. Merrik continued to order them placed in the jeep thinking Lou wouldn't find them but his company had developed devices used by the military to find them in order to keep enemy agents from spying on them.

Once secure, they entered the jeep and drove off and Leggo opened up as they were a distance away from the base.

"Are you sure it was a good idea to leak the marriage certificate to Bear?" Leggo finally asked.

"Of course and for the same reason I told you to make sure I didn't walk out when he insisted that his team take over. It's all part of my plan! I'm still going to bring The White Citadel down and C.I.Z.A. along with it, but as I mentioned, they are watching us closely. Too closely and I needed to give them a reason to back off so I can work behind the shadows again." Lou explained.

"Are they really gonna back off?" Leggo asked.

"Yes and no, that's the best way I can explain it. We still have to be careful but the more we sink into the background the more they'll focus more on the immediate threat of The White Citadel. It's still too early to make any sudden moves but I placed us in a better position to do so now that they have to try and figure out a way to get around Bear."

"Hope I didn't grip your tail too tightly," Leggo remarked and Lou blushed.

"Not as tight as I'm gonna grip yours when we get home." Lou smirked.

"So what's our next move?"

"We let them make the next move and counter accordingly." Lou said.

Thinking back, Leggo recalled when Sanic brought him into his home and showed him around. The hedgehog brought him to a two story house that was a sapphire blue color. The house had plastic siding so it didn't need painting and there were front steps leading to the front door.

"So you live here?" Leggo asked.

"Of course but it's like a dorm here because several of us live here and share in the upkeep. There are some single family houses for the more wealthy Species that live here but I got like four other roommates." The inside was beautifully decorated and it reminded Leggo of how his grandfather decorated his place. The flowers and old fashioned clock in the hallway was exquisite and if Lou could see it, he would probably be jealous.

"This is my room," Sanic said after leading him upstairs and the room was big enough that a dozen sized Sanics could live in it. There were a couple of full bookshelves and a number of mystery novels and a few sci-fi adventure books that filled them. There were no pictures of Sanic or any of his friends.

Sanic pulled a chair up to a bureau and climbed it to reach the top and he set about placing the squeak toys on it.

"What do foxes like to do for fun?" Sanic asked.

"I like my chew toys and I got several stuffies I like to play with. I also watch the Power Fur Rangers whenever I get a chance. Have you ever seen the show?" Leggo asked and Sanic shook his head.

"I... mostly read books," he replied.

"Well it may be a cub show but I love the battles and the robots. See, they're kids that must protect the world from evil aliens and hairless apes trying to take over the world. You look like you like sci-fi because of some of the books." Leggo said as he examined the bookshelves. One book caught his eye because he remembered reading it to Lyon a number of times. It was one of Lyon's favorites and Leggo used it to help teach him to read.

"The Ghost on Saturday Night! Oh man I loved this book as a cub. I can't believe you have it." Leggo said as he took it off the shelf and began to read it.

"That's the first book I ever read! I got it from a teacher in school to encourage me to read because I never had any friends. I loved the story of Broken Neck Jack, the outlaw Fox, that the professor said he could bring back from the dead but he was lying and used a show in order to hide that his minion was robbing the bank while everyone was distracted." Sanic said.

"The professor," Leggo remarked.

"Huh?" Lou asked.

"Sorry I was thinking about a book I saw in Sanic's room that I used to read to Lyon. It was a story about a professor who was a bankrobber during the old west. He started a show where he said he could bring the ghost of a thief called Broke Neck Jack back to life. He was supposed to be a thief they hung because he murdered species. Anyway the story goes that a kid finds out the truth that the show is a cover to keep species distracted while his henchmen rob the town's bank." Leggo said.

"Thinking about Sanic again? I promise you we'll help him and no harm will come to him." Lou replied.

"Could we find him a job at the mansion?" Leggo asked.

"Absolutely. Worse comes to worse, I'll make him your personal assistant." Lou remarked.

"Great... what does that do?"

"It will be his job to organize and keep track of your Tail Waggin toys and to make sure you clean up after yourself., like putting your underwear in the hamper to be washed instead of just leaving it on the floor. He can deal with trying to calm the maid as she wants to kill you for acting like a puppy." Lou smirked and gave a little chuckle.

"You know that Merrik needs me and if his team tries something then I'm gonna have to be involved." Leggo said as he finally worked up enough courage to broach the subject. He knew Lou was going to be upset but he had to tell him what he believed.

"While we're on the subject you do realize that the reason Bear asked you to join them is because he thinks you'll be easy to brainwash. He can use Sanic as bait to force you to obey and bow to his wishes. Don't be mad but I agree with him that you are an easy target which is why I want to keep you away from there." Lou stated.

"He's expecting two of us because we agreed to do this from the start. How will it look if one only one shows up? We'd be better off if I went because of my connection with Sanic and Merrik hangs back in case I get in trouble. He gave us each a card so he's expecting us at different times." Leggo replied.

"We'll have to wait and see what 'his' team says." Lou replied sourly.

Lou entered his private study at the mansion and while Leggo was busy watching anime he set up a special computer he built. He had once built so he could remain anonymous as he sent out messages. He even had it set up so he could fake his I.P. address and set up a false location in case someone tries to find him. He kept this secret hidden from everyone because he always worried the wrong person might find out about his plans and ruin them.

He logged into a site he helped co-author called "The Cub's Book is Evil." While he was searching the internet for resources to help him with trying to help his sons avoid the hatred others had against species with rare white fur, he found a few friends that had similar interests. He joined them in making this website and found a number of species also had a dislike for the book and the way it treated species because of their fur color.

The site went viral among conspiracy theorists as they crafted their propaganda about how the book was a means of government control and a foothold for secret societies to try and achieve global domination. But the real target and why Lou was helping to run this site was to draw the attention of The White Citadel!

He had a couple of fake accounts so he could run through and interact with the species on there without them knowing he helped build the site. The others would be freer talking to some nobody than one of the creators of it. Sure enough after some checking he found that Bear was visiting to see what was being said about him and his 'community.'

Lou was able to engage him using the name WLuver45 and Bear took to him instantly. Lou guessed that when Bear saw WLuver he thought it meant WHITE lover when in actuality Lou picked it to mean WOLF lover. Of course Bear had his own sense of humor when he named himself ICEiceBAEbe.

When they first began talking the conversations were simple enough but soon Bear began talking about the need for a community for Rare Whiyte Fur animals to live at, where they could be safe. It didn't take Lou long to figure out this was the polar bear in question. Lou was the one that sent the marriage certificate to Bear in a means to undermine his own plan in order to carry out phase two. The fact Bear even mentioned it was proof he found the right Bear he was looking for.

He started off by talking about the White Fox and he drew Bear's interest and once Bear had let slip about Leggo's name but nothing in the police files to name him Lou had the perfect opportunity he needed. Hopefully now Bear would trust him more as he fed more information to him.

ICEiceBAEbe

Hey buddy, good to see you.

WLuver45

Thanks. So learn anything new?

ICEiceBAEbe

Well I did some digging and you were right about the White Fox, he was using different names to cover his tracks. I did some digging and the names you gave me, Lou and Leggo, are two billionaires that run in high circles.

I'm willing to bet that when he was arrested he used the name Leggo so that when they checked him out they'd find out he was squeaky clean and be forced to let him go.

WLuver45

Makes sense, if they got all that money then why arrest him when his hubby will buy his way out and pay for the judge to drop all the charges.

ICEiceBAEbe

Exactly. I wonder how many other names he used?

WLuver45

I'm guessing it must be wolves or foxes he names himself after so that if they search for him they'll believe it was an error. If he used the name of something like an elephant or a llama then they'd know he was lying.

ICEiceBAEbe

I found something interesting though, a little secret that may have been the reason why The White Fox called himself Leggo.

WLuver45

Oooooh tell me more, I love secrets!!!!!

ICEiceBAEbe

Leggo and his husband, the billionaires, have two kids with Rare White Fur!

WLuver45

What?

ICEiceBAEbe

Yeah, not sure why they picked them but they had a blood transfusion to make them their kids.

WLuver45

Wow, that's actually a nice thing to do. I mean they could have made them slaves and passed them around like a status symbol but instead they made them their kids. Mad respect right there.

ICEiceBAEbe

So their kids are in a private school now and one of them is a big sports star.

WLuver45

So?

ICEiceBAEbe

Well he's getting a lot of attention and I'm worried The Brotherhood of the Snake may try to kill him because of their hatred of White Furs.

WLuver45

Oh no, what should we do? Warn him???

ICEiceBAEbe

I dunno but you're good at finding stuff so see what you can find out about The White Disaster and we gotta find a way to get ahold of them.

WLuver45

Will do, I'm on it.

Lou felt his heart just to his throat as he read what Bear wanted to know. He was going to target his son Lyon next and Lou was afraid this may be a test to see if WLuver45 was really an ally or an enemy. But he also couldn't ignore the fact that Bear was targeting his son and he needed a way to talk to them without letting on that information about Bear's attempt at contacting them was revealed.

He realized he was going to have to send Tyger a letter explaining things and hoping that he could keep his brother safe before Bear got to them.
