Chapter One

Welcome to the Jungle

The first day on campus was like stepping into a beehive. First years swarmed about, the carpark was packed bumper to bumper as families tried to shunt their kids out of the car and off into the next big step. I wove through the crowd easy enough, a benefit of my lithe fox form I'd always appreciated. Dorm leaders and groups shouted over the humdrum of the larger carnivores barking, snapping and growling at one another as they pushed one another to get their names marked off or join a one of the clubs desperate for new members. In the groupings for first years I didn't quite make the cut for small carnivores like the cats and snakes, but it's not like I could meet the height of the tiger jocks chanting Tri-Claw University's school song. So I ducked my head down and wove through the crowd, ignoring the smell and heat coming off some of them.

Getting into Tri-Claw meant I had the opportunity to do some great things. But, it also meant I was completely separated from my family and all my old friends. So I carried my bags and boxes of stuff by myself, ticked off my name and headed to the Canine Dorms. As I wandered about campus, I marvelled at its size. It felt like the size of the small city. Around the outer borders of the campus there were the dorms, separated mostly into species and a few sub-species that need their private quarters and two mess halls. One for carnivores, one for herbivores. Then, there were the labs, halls filled with class rooms, two giant, gothic looking libraries and at the heart of it all, there was the 'jungle' square. There, species of every kind mingled on the lawn, under the shade of the ancient oaks and around the fountains.

I'm going to get lost trying to find my classes. I just know it.

Older, returning students sat around the lawn, studying or quietly nursing a coffee. A leopard, sitting almost in quiet meditation looked up from his tea and looked at me directly. I flattened my ears and looked to the ground instantly, embarrassment flooding my chest.

Ah, crackers. I really shouldn't make a habit of staring at people. Especially the older students.

Quicks as I could, I scampered away from the Jungle and followed the signs until I reached the Canine dorm. As expected, I could hear it a mile away. Music, howls and general chaos emanated from the rooms, enhanced by the outdoor gym set-up outside. A small but lean Labrador and a wolf worked out together, the wolf spotting the Labrador as he lifted twice as much as I was capable of.

I'd almost be tempted to use that gym, but after what happened last time I went to the gym...

For a split second memories of the husky's powerful hands, his growls and powerful thrusts flashed and I stumbled a little and I dropped my box of things. Clothes, notebooks, art supplies and a particularly embarrassing magazine spilled out all over the pathway. I stood there for a moment in shock, unable to process that I'd really just done that.

"Fuck!" I growled, desperately scrambling to pick my things up and stuff them haphazardly back into the box. But before I could pick up the last magazine, a spotted hand swept in and picked it up for me.

Oh, crackers.

The leopard from the lawn stood over me, looking at the magazine with a mildly amused look. The wolf and Labrador from the gym began to jog over. Before they could see the magazine, the leopard chucked it into the box and covered it with a notebook.

"Bit old school, are we?" He winked at me and said with a low, raspy voice. I said nothing and looked up to him with wide, confused eyes. The wolf with smoky grey fur gave the leopard a punch on the arm followed by a kiss on the cheek.

"Hey Urias. Coming to the rescue of a poor first year are we?" The wolf chuckled, throwing an arm around Urias' shoulders. The three looked down at me, blocking out the sun a little.

"Oh, uh, th-thank you," I stammered, getting to my feet. Urias shrugged, the size of his muscles showing for a moment through his tight black shirt.

"You know me. Knight in shining armour for the helpless."

The Labrador gave Urias a small shove. "Don't be a dick. All of us were like this last year. I'll help you find your room. I'm Kade. What's your name first year?" He said, a sincere kindness about him.

I swept the tip of my tail across the concrete.

"Felix." I mumbled, unable to hide my shyness of the three of them. Urias was especially imposing, the tallest of them, with subtly strong biceps and a deep voice to match his demeanour. I couldn't help but feel a rush remembering the wink he'd flashed me just now.

But that ash-furred wolf, that's his boyfriend, right...?

Urias didn't mention the magazine he'd picked up, but as Kade lead me to the dorms front entrance I certainly felt the leopard's dark gaze on the back of my neck.

The inside of the canine dorm was just as loud and rowdy as the outside. Kade lead me through it all, past the frisbee game happening in the hallway and impromptu furniture moving and finally we arrived at my room, 2E.

"Thanks for being so nice. I appreciate it," I said, giving Kade a warm smile. The Labrador returned the smile and gave me his number.

"I know how scary the first year can be and how confusing the Tri-Claw campus is. If you need anything, just let me know!" He said as he left.

Unfortunately, the inside of my dorm wasn't quite as welcoming. Over the howling, music and barks, I hadn't heard the wet slaps and moans from the other side of the door. But as I opened up, finally feeling ready enough to tackle my first year, I was greeted by a familiar sight. The husky from the gym had my roommate bent over, head pushed into the pillows as he fucked him into the mattress. The two moaned as the husky gripped the German Shepard's neck, his legs hooked around the husky's waist. The thick, hard slaps came to a stop as the husky let out a guttural growl, cum dripping down onto the bed.

And I stood there in the doorway, without a word.
