#34 of The Chronicles of Lore

And more, we go back to more plotting... with a new twist to the fun to be seen.

Refreshed through the use of his harem, Lorenus Adelin felt better. As a matter of fact, he felt more self-assured and princely than he had in a long time, even with the conquest of the Sizwe Empire. The fact that he had his underlings, his subordinates, his sluts all so eager for him still just added to his ego, and in some ways, he supposed, he became a trifle overweening.

Then again, only the Old Hump would have called him down like this.

"You did not need to ressssort to the water bucket," the soaking-wet naga muttered, flicking his hands irritably at the camel.

"You were strutting about insufferably, Master. I needed to do something."

"And that ssssomething wasss to sssoak me?"

"It has called you back to the moment, Master."

"I need a towel."

"I shall send for one immediately, Master."

"And a wire."

"What for, Master?"

"To sssstrangle an uppity camel."

"I am sure that I am of more use alive than strangled."

"Perhapssss. And I do not ssstrut. I do not have the anatomy."

"It was a metaphorical statement, Master."

Lorenus sighed, hissing softly as he rubbed his face. The water was already evaporating in the heat of the palace, something that he normally appreciated, but today felt a little bit like it was draining away some of his good mood. He shook his head, wondering if he would even need the towel in a few minutes.

As he rubbed his hands along his head, brushing away the water that was in danger of falling in his eyes, he saw the way that the Old Hump looked at him. There was a hint of that satisfaction that he always saw when the camel got his way. What - oh.

"I am not ssstrutting."

"Not anymore, Master."

"...Do you have anything I actually need, Old Hump?"

"Yes. Several representatives of the Flying Snakes will be arriving tomorrow. Do you have a particular wish of where to house them?"

"Tomorrow?"

"Yes, Master."

That was slightly sooner than he'd expected, he thought. Then again, perhaps they had begun their trip while he was still in the process of bringing the Empire into his coils. Regardless, it was actually a question of state, and that was one that he was more prepared for.

The palace would have been ideal, but considering their reputation for far-off strikes and for stealth, the idea of housing potential assassins was probably one best ignored. He would be better off putting them somewhere a little bit more isolated, something more easily watched. At the same time, something that was too rough and too far from the palace would look like an insult, even if it was a nice enough location.

The naga tapped his chin with his tail for a moment, then nodded to himself.

"There are manorssss nearby that have been emptied, yesss?"

"Yes, Master."

"Have one ressstored. They may usssse it while they ssstay."

"I know just the one, Master."

"Anything elssse?"

"There are three representatives coming, Master, two male, one female. Some of them are...intimately related."

"...Isss that sssso?"

"I assume you have plans, Master."

"Yessss, Old Hump. Indeed, I do."

Something else had been awoken since his time with his slaves. Something that was a little less violent, something that was a little less cocky, but something that was no less powerful. He had been reminded of how much he enjoyed his power over others, the feeling of having control over all he surveyed, and the pleasure that they could bring him. Taking his slaves had reminded him of how easy it was...

And now, he wondered how easy it would be to just take the serpents...

"If I might remind the Master that we wish to keep this diplomacy successful."

"Old Hump, you wound me."

"I know you, Master."

"You know that I will treat it with the utmosssst ressspect."

"...For your pleasure."

"Indeed. What else mattersss?"

The day passed, and the next came, and with it came the representatives of the flying snakes to the west. Lorenus watched them arrive from one of the balconies of the palace, cocking his head to the side as they moved along the rough-hewn street of the capital city.

"They don't sssseem to fly."

"They jump from tree to tree, and appear to, Master."

"Ah."

"They will not fly here."

Lorenus nodded, slithering from the balcony to the throne room, taking up his position upon the throne in such a way that only a naga could. His coils spilled out over the arms of the chair, but that was fine. There was a sense of pride among serpents, even those that had merely a long tail rather than the proper body of a serpent, for long coils and fat muscles in the tail. He would display his, and see how they observed them.

The Old Hump joined him at the throne, obviously cautious. Lorenus chuckled under his breath, shaking his head.

"Do you think I will be that irresssponsible, Old Hump?"

"I think that you run the risk of it."

"You don't trussst me enough."

"I trust you plenty. I just don't think that your dicks help your thinking."

"Two issss better than one."

The camel didn't answer that, but merely stared straight ahead. Doubtless, he planned to stick around and make sure that the naga didn't do something stupid. In truth, Lorenus didn't mind his presence. If anything, it was a countermeasure against his dicks getting to him and him getting too horny to control himself.

But that didn't mean he wouldn't be enjoying everything that he did today.

The sound of footsteps came before the sight of their guests. Lorenus rose up further in his coils, almost burying the throne in the process. As the doors opened, he pulled his hood up a bit further, showing off his majesty. All nagas had a natural crown, compared to the legged serpents that came before him.

The two males, both brown-scaled and shorter than the Old Hump, froze as they stepped through the throne room doors. The female, green-scaled, stopped behind them, her eyes wide.

Mmm, now this will be fun...

Lorenus did not spark any hypnotic stares just yet. He wished to see where this would go before he used all his tools. And besides, it was a trifle early to start. It was more fun to take his time.

"Come, come," he called. "Join me."

The flying serpents did as they were requested, all bowing as they came forth. If the Sizwe had been barbarians in noble clothing, then the flying serpents seemed to more embody the feeling of noble savages. They came forward with a sense of grace, dignity, with some pride behind their steps, even if they no longer walked ahead so easily and care-free as they had upon the city streets.

Yes, they were afraid of him. That was good; they understood the situation now.

The Old Hump stepped forward, gesturing at the young men that led the group. The trio stopped, the two males standing between him and the female.

"Your Majesty, Emperor of Sizwe, Lorenus Adelin. Allow me to present the ambassadors of the Flying Serpents. The head of their group, the great warrior, Ak'talan."

The taller of the two males, graced with a scar across his muzzle, bowed his head slowly, but his eyes never left the greater naga. Lorenus appreciated that; a warrior that understood a threat, though not yet understanding why there was one. The younger was merely anxious, trepidatious, not keen on the situation, but unable to leave.

The Old Hump stepped back beside him, while Lorenus leaned forward. He flexed slightly, using his coils and tail muscles to keep his upper body aloft without using any other support. It visibly impressed the Flying Serpents, too. They tensed, the female whispering under her breath. What she said, he didn't know, but it was clear that they were more concerned about their safety, now.

Time to fix that.

"You will be housssed in the manor acrosssss the way," Lorenus said. "You will have no need to remain in the palace, save for our meetingsss."

It was a simple offer of space to themselves, but it was sufficient to calm the worst of their worries. Clearly, the Flying Serpents were not a people that hid things, or at least, not well. Their relief was palpable...

All save for the female. She looked at him with something very different to the caution of the older warrior, or the odd trepidation of the younger one. She looked at him not with fear, but with...curiosity? Yes, that seemed to be more accurate.

Oh, the things I will do to you...

The scarred warrior, Ak'talan, stepped forward. Lorenus curled his tail a bit tighter, which caused him to tense up, but the warrior still managed to speak up.

"We come with questions, and a few offers. You will hear them?"

"I ssshall. Tomorrow."

"We have traveled far."

"And you sssshould ressst," he said. "To ssspeak without misssstakessss."

"..."

"Go. I will sssee you later."
