Chapter Three

"Dancing Cubs"

"What's going on?" Lyon asked as I dragged him into our dorm room. His fur was still wet from showering after the game they won and the whole team had been pumped up over their victory. The losing team had been pissed that Dash kept playing their theme song as White Disaster kept making touchdowns to the point they almost dominated the field.

I managed to grab Dash and told him what I was planning as the team entered the locker room to change and shower. Dash quickly cleaned up and got dressed so he could meet us ahead of Lyon to prepare. I explained that my brother needed dance lessons and he agreed to help us teach him so he could look as cool dancing as he did playing on the field.

"Oh before I get to that, I got something for you," I said and I took out a bar of Fancy Foods Salmon Flavor. This one was salmon meat that was dried like beef jerky and shaped to look like a bar of chocolate. Our father first introduced it to us and ever since we love it. They had three flavors that I knew of, but I keep checking the store when I shop to see if any new ones came out.

Lyon looked at me and his eyes lit up, as expected. I did blush because his smile just has an effect on me even though I can't take credit for this because it wasn't my idea to buy it.

"Hey, you're Lyon's brother right?" Will said to me as the game concluded and I was shocked because of how he treated me in the past. I'd never thought he'd come over and talk to me like this.

"Yes." I was curious what he wanted then he thrust the salmon treat into my paws and as I looked at it in confusion he explained.

"I bought this for your brother, could you see that he gets it? You don't need to tell him it's from me! Just a little something for doing a great job winning the game." Will replied and I could smell his nervousness although he was trying to play it off as if it was no big deal.

"He'll be thrilled, he loves these." I replied and saw the slight smile on Will's maw. "You really like my brother, huh?" I asked and he scratched his ear looking away.

"Not really... I mean he's a nice kid and all but he's not the real one I want to see. Don't get me wrong I love watching him play but I have other... reasons for coming to the games. Since you two are always together, I figure if I see him you'll be nearby." Will replied and I was shocked he was actually opening up to me. I was eager to find out why he disliked me so much in the past but now he's telling me that he wants to see me.

"What do you mean?"

"It's two fold you understand. First when I look at you I think about what it would feel like to be a dad and have a kid of my own. If I did, I'd want him to be into sports like your brother is. But the other part is that my cousin gave birth to a white cub but I guess it was sickly because we weren't allowed to see it and I'm told it died suddenly. So when I look at you it makes me think of that cub." Will explained.

"That's... too bad because I would like to have met the cub and became friends. We'd probably have a lot in common." I told him and he coughed in agreement then walked away. I wanted to say more but it was obvious he was uncomfortable and I let him go. Maybe I'd have other chances to get on his good side. I went to hang out in the locker room to wait then grab my brother for the plans I set up.

"You bought this for me?" Lyon asked as I gave him the treat.

"Sorry bro, it was Will that bought it... and he said something about you choking on it but I don't think he meant it." I lied a little. I didn't want to take credit for it and felt Will deserved the credit for his gift but I wanted to lighten the mood by saying something he would say, only I couldn't bring myself to actually saying the words. At least Lyon seemed to get it then he replied accordingly letting me off the hook.

"Yeah, well if he was here I'd chew it up and spit it in his face." Lyon replied.

"Really?" Dash asked and Lyon shook his head.

"Naw, I love this stuff and spit it too good to waste on that jerk." Lyon said but I was sure he was lying and knowing my brother as well as I do I know he was touched by Will's kindness.

Lyon broke the bar in half and he gave me the other and I looked at him in surprise.

"For me?" I asked stupidly.

"Well yeah, I don't want to get fat and Dash only eats grass so there is no one better than you bro." Lyon responded.

"You say that like it's a bad thing." Dash replied. His voice held a touch of annoyance but Lyon just let it go not wanting to get into an argument with him.

"So... is there something you need? The guys wanted to go out and celebrate our victory and the coach promised us pizza." Lyon said.

"Another time maybe we got work to do, bruh." Dash replied and Lyon turned to look at him in confusion.

"What?"

"We grabbed you because it's time for dance lessons," I told him and Lyon sighed deeply.

"Look we love you but you don't look comfortable out there so we need to work on that because we can't have species making fun saying 'you're a lame ass dancer.' Will already rides your tail, do you want to give him more ammo?" Dash replied.

"But the pizza," Lyon whined.

"I'll buy us pizza." I countered. Lyon pouted but he agreed and Dash and I got ready to explain the basics to get him started and Dash used his boombox to supply us some tunes to help teach.

"But Dash already gave me some moves to follow when he plays our song." Lyon whined again.

"Bruh, you dance like you're forcing yourself to remember all the steps involved instead of feeling the music." Dash complained.

"Lyon show me the dance steps you have to do and I'll copy exactly how you do it so you see what you look like then I'll show you what you would look like if you felt the music when you do the routine." I said. Lyon and Dash did the dance as they played their theme song and I made special note of how Lyon was stumbling around as he danced. I had him show me a couple of times then it was my turn with Dash.

I must admit that Dash was a good dancer and I was able to recreate how Lyon danced so he could see what he looked like. The embarrassment was obvious and he even covered his eyes. I really didn't want to make him feel bad but he needed to see that he needed help and in order for that to happen he needed to be confronted with the truth.

"OK Lyon watch closely I'm gonna show you what it would look like if you felt the music when you did the steps." I signaled for Dash to play the theme again but before he could Uncle Jon entered our room and caught our attention.

"You guys throwing a party in here?" He asked sternly and I folded my ears back in embarrassment.

"No sir, we were trying to teach my brother how to dance. Was the music too loud?" I asked.

"I'm getting complaints from students trying to study. This isn't the place for that! I know of an empty classroom you can use if you need a spot but you can't do that here, OK?" he responded cordially. He was good at being professional when it came to instructing us even though he was our uncle. We knew he loved us and treated us with respect but when it was time to get serious he treated us the same as he would treat any other furs.

"I'm sorry sir, could we use that classroom? We don't want to be a bother to others. We're really sorry for that." I said and he grunted, meaning he was going to let the matter drop since we acknowledged our wrongdoings and agreed to stop.

"Alright. Follow me and I'll show you where the classroom is. I have a couple of mix tapes if you want some extra tunes to help teach Lyon. I've seen him dancing at the games and you have a lot of work on your paws." Uncle Jon said smirking and Lyon cried out in protest but a look from Uncle Jon quickly silenced him.

"Do you know any dance moves sir?" Dash asked. And Uncle Jon pulled at his tie.

"I know a few things." he replied

"Then you should help us because like you said we have a lot of work.

"I got a few more things to do then I'll join you boys and see how you're doing." he replied

Benyamin walked alone with his backpack on as he left class in his school uniform. He, like other students, had taken off his shoes and carried them as he walked bare pawed. He kept his gaze towards the ground not wanting to draw anyone's attention. He had a report he needed to start and he did not feel like writing it but he had procrastinated enough and he knew he had to work on it.

"Alone as usual, Bennie?!" He heard a familiar female voice calling him. He resisted the urge to growl but turned to face her scowling. She was a female tiger that was about his height but she weighed a bit more making her look a little plump.

"What do you want Marrie?" he said and made no effort to disguise his dislike.

"What? I can't talk to my little brother?" She said and she smiled wickedly.

"Am I your brother now? You must want something!"

"Now, now, that's no way to behave." she replied and he rolled his eyes and started to walk away. She paused then followed.

"Rude much," she said, calling after him and he stopped then turned to face her with his eyes glaring at her.

"What?"

"Rumor has it that you don't like girls no more. They say you're fucking another tiger that looks like you." she said and looked him over with disgust in her eyes.

"So? What do you care?" he asked

"*I was just wondering if you really don't like girls or are you with 'him' because you want to do it with a freak like you?" She asked in a sinister manner.

"We have other litter mates so why don't you go bother them." he replied then continued to walk away. He had another brother and sister, if you could call them that because he never spoke to any of them. Marrie spoke to him but only when she wanted something or was up to something. He had no patience to deal with her today.

"You know, doing it with another white tiger is the same as fucking yourself. You get tired of pawing off by yourself?" she jeered at him but he kept walking.

"Fuck off Marrie." he replied without stopping.

"I heard you had to ask for help because you two couldn't figure out how to mount each other." She ran up close to him and whispered in his ear. He pushed her away but then she quickly stepped up and slapped him across his face stopping him instantly.

"Don't touch me!" she shouted.

"So what is this? Are you trying to find out if I'm happy or something? Because I am! Tyger and I love each other and we don't need you in our lives." he said after he rubbed his cheek.

"Tyger? You mean his parent's couldn't even give him a real name or is that what he likes to be called?" She mocked.

"Are you serious? The whole school is laughing about the two white tigers that have no clue how to mount each other. You guys are a fucking joke but I didn't think it was true until now that you confirmed it. You are such a loser." She jeered again and Benyamin looked at her with hatred in his eyes. He gave up and walked away being tired of talking to her.

Just because she was the oldest she liked to throw her weight around. She was also the only one to really talk to him but he sometimes wished she would give him the same silent treatment the rest of the family did. If she wasn't so rude and crude then he might not mind her so much but she was so vocal in insulting him that it drove a further wedge between them.

"Isn't it odd that nature ran out of paint to color you two then you meet and start dating? It's almost like you both realized you couldn't get a real fur to date you, so you started dating each other out of desperation." Marrie yelled after him but he ignored her and kept walking because he was tired of her insinuations.

He entered his dorm room and threw his backpack on his bed then sat and covered his face as he faced the computer on his desk. He wondered why he was letting her get to him. She was only trying to torment him like she usually did. Rumor must have reached her that he was dating and she wanted to go out of her way to ruin his happiness.

She must be finding it amusing to put doubts in his mind about his relationship to Tyger. She was probably getting a kick out of suggesting that they were only dating out of desperation. He knew the truth that Tyger loved him and he loved Tyger back. They got along so well and his heart skipped a beat when Tyger first suggested it. They had gone out a couple of times as friends but there were deep undertones of a possible relationship.

After their first official date when Tyger walked him back to his dorm, they kissed for the first time and he knew that he was the one. It felt so right and since his sister hated to see him happy she would stop at nothing to try and break them up. Her plans were not going to work this time because what they had was special and no evil twisted sibling was going to ruin what they had.

Benyamin took out his cell and sent a text to Tyger telling him that he loved him. He knew Tyger would immediately reply and prove her wrong. He waited but was becoming impatient and turned on the PC to begin hius report. Tyger must be really busy or he didn't hear his phone go off, otherwise he would have answered immediately.

He knew he was letting Marrie get into his head and he refused to let her get her way to ruin his happiness. He would focus on what was really important and stop overthinking things in the way 'she' wanted him to.

He set up the report and title page then watched the cursor on the first page blink. He had no idea what to write and every time he tried to think about it his thoughts kept returning to what Marrie had said to him and how he wished he had been cleverer to deal with her but each time she managed to get the last word in like always.

He had to keep forcing the words "It's almost like you both realized you couldn't get a real fur to date you, so you started dating each other out of desperation." out of his mind. It was tough because they kept coming back over and over again.

He finally had enough and after saving his report he went to lay down and hoped when he woke up later he would be feeling better and would focus on his report. Then maybe he would stop letting Marrie get to him and try to break him and Tyger up. He reached and grabbed his phone and thought about calling Tyger. He still hadn't returned his text but he really needed to hear his voice right now. He worked up the courage and dialed his number.

Lyon looked at us in amazement as I danced the routine with Dash. I was no longer copying the clumsy way Lyon had been dancing but I went all out as I followed the steps in beat to the song and Dash and I complimented each other nicely. After we finished Dash and I slapped paws and even Lyon stood up and applauded.

"That's what we're talking about Lyon, we want you to dance like that and we're gonna help you so you look like a pro." I said and Lyon looked at me disheartened and I walked over and grabbed his maw and made him look at me as he bashfully tried to look away as I approached.

"I'm just not that good," he replied

"Bullshit," both Dash and I replied in unison then we looked at each other and smiled.

"What he doesn't know is that I snuck in to watch him and my dad when they watched football on TV and I've seen him and my dad dance when their team scored a touchdown. I saw how they dance as they got hyped up and felt the beat. I went off playing and tried dancing like them every time I won a video game.

My father caught me and ridiculed me to no end because he was an excellent dancer and he even taught my dad how to dance. He made me practice over and over until I finally got it and realized what I was doing wrong. Then once he was sure I wouldn't embarrass the family he left me and went to do his 'father' things that he does." I explained.

"Yeah you dance good when you think no one is watching but if someone's around you get nervous and mess up." Dash reiterated.

"Dash, get me a new beat." I said

"You got it." he replied and began searching his tapes he tried a couple then found an easy techno beat that sounds great. Meanwhile I put a blindfold on Lyon to help him focus. The beat was playing and I told Lyon to stand there and listen to it.

I heard my phone ringing and went to answer it. I had it with my stuff I left in a pile nearby and saw that Ben was calling me.

"Hey," I responded as I answered and I tried sounding cool even though I knew how lame I must have sounded.

"Sorry, am I disturbing you?" he asked and his voice sounded a bit off so I wondered what was up.

"No, just helping my brother learn to dance. Their next big game is versus our school rivals and we can't have him dancing the way that he does when he scores a touchdown. It would be too embarrassing." I explained trying to keep things casual and maybe he'd open up about what was bothering him.

"Oh," he replied and he sounded depressed for some reason.

"You want to help us? We need all the help we can get, plus... I'd get a chance to see you."

"I just don't feel good and wanted to hear your voice." he replied.

"Want me to come over?" I asked hoping to cheer him up because earlier today he was so happy but what had happened that he sounded this bad?

"No, It's OK. Actually I feel better already just hearing you."

"If you need to talk," I started.

"I love you." he interrupted and it caught me off guard because he caught me mid sentence and was so unexpected that it took me a second to process.

"Huh? I love you too... Are you sure you're alright? Something sounds wrong." I stammered.

"Can't I just tell you, I love you?" he replied defensively and this was leaving me more confused.

"Where are you? Look, I'm coming over." I said because I knew something was wrong and I needed to find out what.

"Naw, I'm about to take a nap anyway. Just finish up with your brother and I'll call you later." he replied and I was dumbfounded on what to say. He hung up the call before I was ready and I stood there wondering what I should have done or said to make things better. If he had only opened up I could have had a better idea of what to say or do but I was completely in the dark.

I returned to Lyon and Dash and saw that Uncle Jon had joined us.

"Alright, thanks for coming, sir." I replied and I had to speak up over the techno beat in order to be heard.

"Relax Tyger, I'm off duty you can call me Uncle Jon." he replied and I smiled because I liked him as Uncle Jon better than Mr. Jon. He took a strip of black cloth out of his pocket and tied it as a blindfold on Lyon.

"Lyon you stay here and listen, the guys are gonna help me carry in my tapes." Uncle Jon said and he pulled us away.

"I just want to see how he responds to music when he thinks no one is watching." Uncle Jon told us and we turned and saw him bouncing on his feet and swinging his arms. It was not much of a dance but it was a start and it showed that he was feeling the beat of the music. It might not seem like much but it was a start.

Uncle Jon motioned me and I crept up to Lyon and surprised him by removing the blindfold while Uncle Jon motioned again and Dash turned off the music.

"So you can dance," he replied and Lyon blushed.

"We were watching the whole time." I replied then I 'booped' his nose and he turned redder.

"That's all there is to it, it's just feeling the music and moving your body along with it. The more confident you become then you can start showing off and get the crowd shouting. Dash, play something else and we're gonna dance with you Lyon." Uncle Jon instructed and Dash found another song and played it as we stood around Lyon and began to dance. He stood still watching us at first but when I grabbed his paws and pulled on his arms to get him moving he began. I kept shielding him with my own body and hiding him from view and it had the desired effect and made him want to step out from my shadow more.

Soon it became a dance battle of sorts where I kept trying to step in front of him and he in turn tried doing the same. Dash and Uncle Jon stepped aside and clapped as they watched us and kept encouraging him to beat me. Lyon reached a point where he was tired of me getting in his way and he went all out and it turned into a dance battle between us.

In the end Uncle Jon considered it a tie and both of us were breathing heavily after all the dancing we did. Lyon stepped over and fell into my arms and we hugged both as brothers and as rivals. It was good to know that Lyon had the confidence he needed and after a quick rest he turned his new found confidence into getting him used to the dance routine Dash invented for their theme song.

It was after sunset when we finished up and packed everything up and got ready to return to our rooms. The pizza I ordered was delivered and it became a real victory feast for all of us. The others were busy chowing down while I ate little as I waited for Benyamin's call. I guess he overslept because he never called me back and I was a little hurt by it because I was afraid I had pissed him off somehow.

I thought I'd try and take him out on a date tomorrow since it's the weekend and maybe that would smooth things over or at least help me find out what upset him so.
