#4 of Pokémorph Sword - the Galar Chronicles

Two trainers meet their partners, and a bond is formed

The scene opens to a small house in Postwik as a boy with short, purple hair runs towards the front door. We then see the living room of the house as a Muchlax sleeps near the corner and a young man watching something on his phone. This is Danimus, an African American young man with brown eyes, black hair in the style similar to a mohawk, and an average build. He is currently wearing just a red shirt, blue pants, and brown shoes. At that moment, the doorbell is heard as Danimus' friend, Hop, enters the house. Hop is wearing a blue denim style jacket, black & purple pants with matching shoes, and a green travel bag. Accompanying him is a Wooloo, who has been with him since his early childhood.

Hop: Hello, hello!

Danimus: Huh? Oh, hey there, Hop! Wooloo!

Hop's Wooloo: Hi, Danimus!

Hop: Oh! That's your flash new phone, Danimus?

Danimus: Yep.

Hop: Were you watching Lee's exhibition match on it?

Danimus: That's right. His matches are top notch.

Hop: True, but you can't cheer him on with your hands full. Afterall, the only way to properly cheer on Lee would be with his famous Charizard pose! *performs the pose*

Danimus: Haha, that is also true!

At that moment, a woman with long, black hair wrapped in a sort of ponytail by a green ribbon walks in. She is wearing blue denim overalls with a grey shirt underneath it and white boots. She is also wearing a pair of glasses over her eyes. This woman is Danimus' mother, Mary.

Mary: Hop! Didn't expect to see you here today, dear. Isn't this the big day?

Hop: Yeah, that's exactly why I came running over to get Danimus! Anyway, never mind watching the match now! I've got it recording at home anyway. I record all my brother's matches. So come on, Danimus! He should be here any minute! And remember, Lee always brings presents when he visits, so I wouldn't forget that bag if I were you!

Danimus: Okay, but you owe me a chance to watch those recordings later!

Mary: Maybe I should visit later, too. Gives me a chance to have fun with Helen.

Hop: You got it! Now I've got to run! See you at mine later!

With that, Hop bolts out the house alongside his Wooloo.

Danimus: Well, if there's one thing about Hop, he's as energetic as a Yamper. Welp, I've better get ready.

Danimus then leaves for his room to grab an exceptionally large backpack. It was a gift from his father, who had left Galar a few years prior to begin his own journey. He also went to put on his gray hat before walking out the door to see Hop and Wooloo waiting for him at the end of the walk path.

Hop: Hahaha! Have a look at you, Danimus! That old bag looks like it could pull you over!

Danimus: Ha, ha. Very funny.

Hop: Hey, look on the bright side. At least we know that it should hold anything Lee might bring, even if it's as big as a Snorlax!

Danimus just couldn't help, but image Champion Leon stuffing a Snorlax into his bag and trying to carry the giant Pokémon. The moment was interrupted by a banging noise nearby.

Danimus: Huh?

They turn to the source of the sound to see a lone Wooloo tackling a closed gate.

Hop: A Wooloo... but what's it doing there?

Hop's Wooloo: Nothing good by the looks of it.

The Wooloo continues to tackle the gate, unaware of the attention it brought itself.

Hop: Hey! You silly Wooloo! I see what you're up to! Don't go using Tackle on the fencing!

The Wooloo, realizing it had been spotted, turns to Hop.

Hop: Now, you listen! No going past that fence! No! Everyone knows there are scary Pokémon living in the Slumbering Weald!

Wooloo: Awww.

The Slumbering Weald is a forest that is seemingly covered in a never-ending fog. Many trainers would go there to try and catch the Pokémon living there, only to end up lost or getting attacked by powerful Pokémon. As a result, the entrance to the Slumbering Weald was fenced off and entry has been forbidden ever sense.

Hop: Now that that's taken care of, how about it, Danimus? Let's race! Bet I can make it to my house first, what with you lugging about that big old bag!

With that, Hop runs off towards his house with Wooloo rolling after him

Danimus: Hey! No fair! You got a head start!

Danimus runs after Hop. The group runs into a woman with short, bunched up blue hair named Helen, who is the mother of Leon and Hop. She is wearing a yellow shirt with a green undershirt, blue denim pants, and green shoes. She was finishing up some chores in the kitchen when she heard Hop and Danimus enter.

Hop: Mum! Is he here?

Helen: There you are at last, Hop! Oh, and you've brought along Danimus. Hello, dear.

Danimus: Hello.

Hop: Yeah, yeah, but where's Lee? Have got him crammed in a cupboard?

Again, Danimus' mind began to wonder, imaging Helen opening a cupboard and Leon, stuffed in said cupboard, handing her a box of pasta.

Helen: He's still not here yet! For the hundredth time... Honestly, Hop, you must learn some patience! He's probably only just arrived at the station in Wedgehurst.

Hop: Then that's where I'm going! You know Lee is hopeless with directions. I'll make sure he doesn't get lost on the way!

Helen: Oh, will you? Yes, that probably is for the best...

Hop: You've got to come with, Danimus. You still never met my big bro, right?

Danimus: That's right.

Hop: Then you can't miss out on your chance to meet the undefeated Champion! I'll wait for you out on the route!

Hop then runs out the house, leaving Danimus to stare at where he once stood.

Danimus: And there he goes. Well, been nice catching up with you.

Helen: Same here. Take care!

Danimus: Sure thing!

Danimus runs out and chase after Hop. It wasn't long until Danimus caught up to Hop.

Hop: Let's get a move on! Only remember, Danimus, that wild Pokémon could come out of nowhere if you walk through patches of tall grass. I've got my Wooloo with me, so I'm ready for battles against wild Pokémon, of course, but not you Danimus! So, we'll steer clear of the tall grass as we go.

Danimus: I know, I know. Still keep going on about me not having my own Pokémon.

The duo made their way to Wedgehurst where a large crowd was gathered at the station. At that moment, Leon and his Charizard steps out and is greeted with applauds. Leon, in response, performs his trademark Charizard pose.

Leon: Hello, hello, Wedgehurst! Your Champion, Leon, is back! I promise I'll keep doing my best to deliver the greatest battles for you all to watch!

Crowd members: It's our unbeatable Champion! Leon, you and Charizard are the greatest!

Leon: Well, thank you for that! I hope you'll carry on training up your Pokémon and never shy from battle. Then come challenge me for the Champion title!

Crowd members: We're on it! We've all been working on our battle skills just like you've taught us to, Lee! But that Charizard of yours is too strong for the likes of us to take on!

Charizard: Hehe... They're not wrong.

Leon: Too true that Charizard is blazingly strong. But other Pokémon can be strong as well! That's why I want the strongest of challengers to fill the Gym Challenge and come battle me! My wish is for Galar's trainers to work together to become the strongest in all the world!

Charizard: OH YEAH! Just the thought alone is making me eager for a good battle! So let's all get stronger!

Hop: Lee!

Leon: Hmm? Hop!

Leon and Charizard walks towards Hop.

Leon: So, my number one fan in all the world has come out of his way to pick me up! Look at you, Hop! I reckon you've grown...exactly an inch and a quarter since the last time I saw you!

Hop: Bingo! That's the sort of sharp eye that's kept you undefeated so long, eh, Lee?

Danimus: Woah. He got that just by looking at him. Incredible!

Leon: And these bright eyes over here...I've got it! You must be Danimus, am I right?

Danimus: You know about me?

Leon: Yep. I've heard loads about you from my little brother. I'm the Galar region's greatest-ever Pokémorph Champion and a massive Charizard fan, too. People call me "the Unbeatable Leon"!

Charizard: And I'm the lucky Charizard that became his partner.

Hop: Come on, Lee and Charizard! And you, Danimus! Bet I can beat you guys back home!

Hop ends up running ahead, again.

Danimus: There he goes, again.

Leon: That Hop...always wanting to be the best, isn't he? With a proper rival of his own, I bet he'd push himself to become something truly special. Well, everybody! I bid you farewell for today! But don't you fret! I'll always be around to make sure everyone in Galar can have a champion time!

With that, the group race towards the home of Leon and Hop, where Leon has a surprise for Hop and Danimus.

Hop: Come on, Lee! You promised us a present! So out with it! You brought Danimus and me Pokémon. You did, didn't you? I know you must have!

Leon: Right then! The greatest gift from the greatest Champion...

Leon then pulls out 3 Poké Balls.

Leon: Take a good look, you two! It's show time, everyone!

Leon toss the Poké Balls toward the battle field, releasing the 3 starter Pokémon for new Galar trainers: the Grass-type Grookey, the Fire-type Scornbunny, and the Water-type Sobble! After being released, the young Pokémon begins enjoying themselves, with Grookey climbing a tree and tapping a berry with his stick, Sobble swimming in a nearby pond, and Scornbunny running around the field as Hop and Danimus look on. Eventually, Sobble accidentally launched a Water Gun at Scornbunny, causing her to jump around about until she hit her head on Grookey's branch, causing the berry to fall into the pond and scaring Sobble. Although frighted, Sobble was quickly calmed by Grookey and Scornbunny.

Leon: All right! Line up, everyone!

At his command, the 3 Pokémon gather towards the center of the field, waiting someone to pick them as their partner.

Leon: Which will you choose?

Danimus: Wow!

Hop: Why don't you pick first, Danimus? I've already got Wooloo, so it's only fair for you to pick your first Pokémon.

Danimus: Thanks! Now let's see. I choose...

Danimus thought long and hard about his choice. A grass-type is usually perfect for beginner trainers, but the Grookey is very hyperactive. Sobble is cute and gets along with everybody, but when the tears start rolling in, every creature within his sight will start crying nonstop. And then, there's Scornbunny, the little fire-type is very eager, very friendly, and very cute. For reasons he could not explain, Danimus was instantly attracted to the fire-type, so now that the opportunity has come, Danimus has made his decision.

Danimus:...Scornbunny!

Hearing this, the Scornbunny happily begins hopping about before running up to Danimus and fist bumping him.

Hop: So, it'll be Scornbunny for you? Nice one! Then I'll go with...Grookey! You're mine! I'm aiming to be the next Champion, so be ready! You and I'll be doing some serious training!

Agreeing to the terms, Grookey jumps around for a bit before greeting Hop's Wooloo.

Leon: I bet you will be, Hop. That's why I brought along these Pokémon for you and Danimus. So the two of you can battle and train and grow stronger together...to try to reach me!

It was then that Leon noticed the Sobble disappointedly looking around for a trainer. Leon and Charizard walks up to the water-type.

Leon: And you'll come with me! Charizard will show you the ropes. He's strict, but real strong and kind, too!

Charizard: That's right! With my training, you'll be a mighty water-type whose name will be as big as mine!

Leon: That's reminds me. You can give your Pokémon a nickname if you feel like it.

Danimus: A nickname? Hmmm...

Danimus thought about it for a good second before something clicks with his mind.

Danimus: How about "Cinder"? Do you like that?

Scornbunny:...Cinder? I like it!

Danimus: Perfect! Cinder it is! ...wait. Did you just...?

Every present was shocked to see that the Scornbunny, Cinder, has spoken! It's not uncommon for Pokémon to learn human languages from their trainers, especially if that species is noted to be highly intelligent. But it's extremely rare for young or wild Pokémon to speak the English language so soon, which made hearing the little fire-type speak a very surprising experience.

Hop: Wow! I didn't know they could speak so soon!

Leon: They normally don't. In fact, with the exception of highly intelligent species, it's almost impossible for them to do so without enough interaction with humans. This must be an incredibly special Scornbunny.

Charizard: Hmm...maybe she has the factor.

The factor Charizard speaks of is known as the Pokémorph Factor. This genetic trait is responsible for many Pokémon possessing humanoid shapes and features, such as noticeable breasts and exposed genitals. This factor does not have any effects on a Pokémorph's abilities and move pool, but it does increase their level of intelligence and sentience, allowing them to fit into human societies and bond closer to humans in more ways than one.

Danimus: Well, no matter what, we'll still be a great team!

Cinder : Yeah!

At that moment, Helen and Mary walks up to the group.

Helen: All right, enough of all this trainer nonsense for one night! Dinner's ready, everybody! Bring your Pokémon, and let's all eat!

Everyone: Yeah!

Over the course of a couple of hours, everyone was enjoying a nice outdoor barbeque, complete with burgers, hot dogs, skish kabobs, and curry, all while talking about their new partners and watching Leon's exhibition matches Hop had recorded. It wasn't long until everyone decides to turn in for the night, with Mary heading back home. Danimus and Cinder had decided to stay the night and were staying in the guest room.

Danimus: Still can't believe I have my very own partner Pokémon.

Cinder: I know what you mean. I'm finally partnered with a new trainer.

Danimus: That's right. I'm officially a trainer. Wonder if I'll be a good trainer?

Cinder: I'm certain you will be a great trainer.

Danimus: Thanks, Cinder. Anyway, we might as well get some shut eye. Leon said he wants to speak with us and Hop tomorrow.

Cinder: Okay. Goodnight, Danimus.

Danimus: Goodnight, Cinder.

And with that, the duo sleeps, not knowing what to expect, but ready to face their new adventure together.
