"Hey, uh, Juno, could I talk to you alone?" the little white rabbit was crinkling her school uniform in her hands, looking as bashful as a prey might who dared to come up to the predators' lunch table. She tried to ignore all the looks she got, whichever type of hunger they were.

"Uh...? Sure?" the female wolf shot disapproving glares at both the guys and the girls. But she started with the guys.

She ushered the little rabbit forward, almost shielding her, guiding her by the shoulders.

Her two gestures were not lost on Haru, who managed a half smile, but didn't look her in the eye.

Once they got outside, and looked for a shady spot to sit, they began walking towards it.

"I honestly don't know how you can like Legoshi, when I'm sure he leers at you like that," the brown wolf said with a lip curled above a fang.

"He ... he really doesn't though."

"What, is he some magical exception?" the wolf pressed, sarcastic but also a little concerned.

"No. I mean. He does get that thousand yard stare," the prey admitted, "but it's less ..." she tried to think of a way to put it, "aggressive, somehow? I swear I get a feeling from other guys like 'the only reason nothing's happening to you right now is the law,' and for Legoshi it's more like, 'you're entrancing, I'd nibble and chew you before I bit into .....' does ... that makes any sense?"

"You sound nuts."

"Well, maybe I am," she sighed.

There was a pause.

Then, the rabbit's entire mood shifted dramatically.

"You're probably just looking for reasons to push me away from him," the smaller animal said nonetheless assertively.

"No! No!" the predator insisted in appeasement. "Look, I know we're not exactly pals, but I get fed up just dealing with regular old guy shit, I cannot fathom how much more terrible it is to have another layer dumped on top of it!"

The fuzzy rabbit didn't soften, staring hard at her.

"Fine, don't believe me," she threw up her hands. "Just tell me what you wanted to, and I'll be off. I'll leave you to your self-endangering fantasies," she said with acid.

They hadn't even sat down yet, and she very much doubted this was going to be a friendly talk now.

Her guess was correct. The rabbit thrust her chin out, and perked her ears straighter. "You have a lot of nerve complaining about guys acting domineering, you hypocrite."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"I've been investigating the gossip," the rabbit said, ears almost standing at attention as if they were mini combatants, or listening intently.

"And?"

"Someone saw what you did to Louis."

"Huh?"

"You were straddling him alone in the drama room."

"Yeah? So? He was probably into it."

To her surprise, the dwarf animal took a step towards her, as if to push her, but maybe thought better of it.

"You dense piece of warmed over rotting carcass," the prey snapped, "if a guy had spontaneously done that to me, while we weren't dating, how would you have reacted to the news?"

It took a few seconds for the wolf to put it together.

But she still didn't really see the issue.

"Uh...? That's totally different."

"No it isn't!" The rabbit stamped a foot, not just once as another species might, but a few echoes, a lingering instinct from thousands of years of warning and fleeing.

"Yes it is. He may be prey, but since I'm a girl, we're more evenly matched."

"Are you really this stupid?" the rabbit demanded. "Do you just go around tackling just any old body, or touching prey without asking?"

She blinked. "W-what?"

"I appreciated the thought back there, at the lunch table," she said begrudgingly. "That you were trying to, like, 'shelter' me or whatever, and actually it did make me in particular feel safer," she still sounded angry, though, "see, another prey might've freaked out if you had touched them right then, with what seemed like a 'pack' ready to gang up on them. You MUST ask FIRST!"

"... sorry? I don't hang out with prey."

"So you're not stupid, or careless, you're just uninformed," the rabbit sneered. "That doesn't make it better."

The predator took a step back.

"And regardless of whether Louis would've had that reaction or not, or never had it in his life," the rabbit grimaced, "like all the lucky ones," she took in an aggravated breath, "you shouldn't do that to any guy without asking, including a fellow predator. Or anybody else. How about you, huh?"

The wolf imagined some canine she liked coming into her like that.

"If I didn't object-"

"If you didn't object," the rabbit seethed, "you know how many girls would be scared or afraid to offend or any number of things that would keep them from speaking up?? Even if the person in question doing it had no intention of progressing any further they still would feel terrible! And assuming the same isn't true for guys? Just as unacceptable!"

The wolf opened her mouth again, but she cut her off.

"They wouldn't do that to you without asking if they had any crumb of decency," her dark brownish maroon eyes with the much lighter red highlights seemed to steam and boil, like a dish cooked with pungent wine, "and you don't get to not return the courtesy just because you don't happen to own a penis."

She was speechless.

"If you make any sort of move on Louis while he's in rut," the rabbit threatened in a tone that mismatched her harmless white and clean appearance even more, "I will report you to the school counselor whether they laugh at me or not, and you might find the next time I try to hook up with Legoshi, our smell will be all over your dorm room after I jimmy the lock open."

She was still in shock.

"You want to pout and cry about how Legoshi likes me better, well honey," The assertive rabbit spun on her heel and began to march off.

She shot a look over her shoulder.

"I can make it ten times harder for you if you cross me."
