Ava woke up in the early afternoon to the sound of birds again. She inhaled sharply and stretched out in the twin's nest, smiling. Sleeping late was becoming better and better. Reaching over to make out with Jayden until he woke up she didn't feel him beside her. Noticing they were gone she sat up quickly searching for them in the room.

"Boys?"

Nothing but silence met her ears. She threw on her clothes then went out into the kitchen area. Apollo sat there drinking coffee and reading some old looking book. She looked up as Ava entered.

"Good morning baby girl. How did you sleep?"

"Great. Slept late."

"Well we had a busy night."

Apollo said with a laugh. Ava nodded and asked.

"Where are the twins?"

"I'm not allowed to say. It's a surprise."

"Surprise?"

Apollo sighed but smiled warmly at her.

"You'll like it. They should be back soon. Hungry? I have some left over breakfast."

"Yes please."

Ava sat at the table and took a plate from her.

"How you doing mama?"

"I'm perfect. My kids are home."

Apollo paused to meet her eyes over the top of the book.

"All of them. They are all safe and I have my coffee. All is well. What about you hon?"

She felt amazing. Unsure of even how to express it. Her boys were safe, she was safe, she had everything she ever wanted, plus now, Thomas would become just be a glorious memory of her using her wolves. Ava was over the moon happy. Only thing that would make everything perfect was if her boys were with her.

"I am great. Better than I have been in a very long time. I was just going through the motions, you know? I feel like I had lost myself a while ago and now...it's like my eyes are open finally. Crawling out of a deep dark cave after eons of hiding."

"You were serious about leaving Black Paw?"

"Yes. I really don't have anything holding me there anymore."

Ava replied with a sigh.

"I did what I set out to do. Find my mother's killer and end him. I did just that. Why should I stay? Especially now since the boys are apparently sought after. I can't keep them there."

"You know they won't be able to live a normal life."

Apollo warned.

"They have to kill things. Wild spirits those two."

"I never said I would stop being a hitman."

Ava laughed shaking her head.

"No way. There are other ways to make money off your kid's skills."

Apollo smiled and looked away.

"I'm glad you are so understanding of them. I've known quite a few Lycans who have tried and failed."

"Could I ask you something."

Ava probed finishing her food. She was hungrier than she thought. Apollo nodded and set her book down.

"Of course. We are family."

"I don't want you thinking anything beyond me being curious."

Ava folded her hands together on the table and met her eyes.

"Why did you raise them like that?"

"To be killers?"

"To stay wild. I've know many Lycans who were born in the wilds and they are nothing like the twins."

"I was in Black Paw for years before I even met their father. I've seen the kind of evil this world produces and I didn't want my children to fall victim to anything."

Apollo squeezed her mug in her hand sighing.

"And if we are being honest here, they have always been more wild than others. Kayden killed his first deer when he was six. Six! Can you imagine this like 60lbs puppy just destroying a fully grown female deer? That was Kayden, every day he was hunting something and he loved it. And Jayden was just as wild. He liked hunting birds more. He used to throw these tiny rocks so hard it would hit a bird and you would have thought they got shot. I remember him taking down two different geese with just tiny rocks. The both of them have always been wild and I think if I had tried to raise them any other way I would have lost them. I taught them the value of family and always having a choice in your life. Do what you please because you never know when you will get a chance to do it again. Take what you want because life is short and cruel."

"Do you regret it?"

"No, not at all. They are so strong and so smart...if they wanted I'm sure they could try and integrate into society but I honestly don't think they want to. They have seen the worst this world has to offer. Why try and join such a life that would only do them harm."

Apollo finished her coffee letting out another sigh.

"I did want them to find their father and kill him for me but that was my own selfish reason."

"Have you ever asked them?"

"No, it wouldn't be right of me. I trained them to always stay loyal to one thing. Family. It doesn't matter anymore to me. I have my kids and that's all I will ever need. Forget a mate."

"You sound like them."

Ava said with a smile.

"Guess they got that from you too?"

"Yes but I'm sure with you around things might change."

Apollo picked up her book then said.

"Maybe you could become my daughter in-law one day."

"Let's just deal with one thing at a time. We'll see."

Ava said shaking her head.

><

Twin's POV

Jayden chased after his brother early the next morning. They woke early and slipped away before Ava woke. Apollo had caught them but Kayden made her swear not to say anything if they told her what they were doing.

"We heard what she wants."

Kayden explained standing outside the den with their mother.

"She wants to stay here. To keep us safe."

"Not that we need it but it's nice."

Jayden added with a nod. Apollo looked between them and crossed her arms.

"What are you two doing?"

"The den out by the lake we built years ago."

Kayden answered in a sigh.

"We are going to prepare it for use again."

"She wants to stay we will make sure she has somewhere to call home."

Jayden said with a smile. Apollo returned his smile and touched his muzzle.

"You two are so sweet to her. I can hardly believe it. You sure you two want to stay here? You spent so long here."

"And we are returning to our home with the love of our lives."

Jayden took Apollo's paw in his and said.

"You know better than anyone how we feel about her. We have to make her a home."

"Are you going to be living with your female?"

She met his eyes quickly.

"Or your life-mate?"

Jayden looked to his twin. His heart thumping in his chest.

"We are still unsure. She is just so perfect mama, we are scared still one day she will realize how fucked up we really are and leave. I couldn't take losing her."

"Only fear you two have ever shown is losing her."

Apollo replied.

"You weren't even scared of thunder as puppies."

"We are going to fix up the den. Can you run out and contact someone from Rome to ship out our things?"

"Yes, I can have them here within the week."

"Someone you trust. Our dorm is...different."

Apollo laughed and nudged Jayden's arm.

"I know my babies. Go on now. Get your den ready for her. I will keep her distracted as long as I can."

Jayden smiled and hugged is mother tightly.

"You're the best mom ever."

"Aw Jay...thank you."

Apollo squeezed him then smiled.

"Go on now, before I start becoming emotional."

><

Ava's POV

Ava laid in the twins nest for a while drifting in and out of sleep. She missed them and now it was after noon. Hearing footsteps she sat up in bed and called.

"Boys?"

"Yes Alpha, we have returned."

Kayden came in first followed closely by Jayden. Ava smiled and held her hands out to them.

"I've missed you wolves. Come lay with me."

They tackled her into bed, covering her cheeks with kisses. She laughed and was pushed down into the oblivion of their nest.

"I said lay!"

"This is better."

Jayden said trailing kisses down her jaw to her neck.

"We are finally able to relax and get back to our own normal."

Ava nodded and turned to gaze at him.

"Feels good. Where were you two? You know I hate waking up alone."

He let out a soft whimper and hugged her close to him.

"It is a surprise for our date tonight."

"Tonight?"

"Yes."

Kayden growled catching her attention. She looked back at him and asked.

"Out here?"

"It's a surprise. Just follow our lead for once."

He teased. Ava smiled and reached out to touch his cheek.

"Last time I followed you we killed thirty people."

"This may even top that."

She pulled him into a kiss then said.

"You two are ever exciting. When do we leave?"

"Just before sunset. We were also hoping that..."

Jayden fell silent and Ava turned back to him.

"Speak boy."

He met her eyes and said softly.

"That we could play your game again."

"What? Chase and fuck?"

Ava laughed. She cupped his face and kissed him deeply.

"Of course we can. I slept a lot today so I think I can manage to lead you two along for a while."

"We let you go Alpha."

Kayden growled, pressing his body against hers in a tight hug.

"Just so we can chase you again."

"Must be difficult boy."

Ava growled back at him.

"You two love being inside me."

"It is so difficult."

Jayden groaned. Ava laughed again moving to lay on her back.

"You two make me feel amazing. I'm so much more confident with you around. I feel like I am actually your Alpha."

"That's because you are."

Kayden teased leaning in to kiss her cheek.

"We do not roll over for anyone...but you. I personally have laid on my back with you a few times."

Ava blushed as he growled deeply beside her ear.

"And I have enjoyed each time."

"You are our Alpha and we would and will do anything for you."

Jayden added. Ava sighed softly and looked between them.

"I don't want to go back to Rome..."

"We know."

Jayden met her eyes and smiled.

"We heard you last night. Our ears are always trained on you Alpha. We hear everything."

"Would you two want to go back? I'm asking for once, not telling. I want to know what you think."

Ava asked. Kayden shook his head and Jayden spoke.

"We want to be with you and if you are not in Rome then neither are we."

"We will follow you anywhere."

Ava smiled and moved to kiss Kayden's cheek.

"Want to stay with me forever hounds?"

"Yes Alpha."

They said surely. Smiles on their faces. Ava loved them so much and was so happy that they were willing to follow her. Rome had become her cave and now that she was out in the wilds again, she did not want to go back to that darkness.

"Good boys."

><

Later on Ava was out near the main road alone in her full form. She had to call her father after all this. Finally getting signal again she called out and sat high up in a tree.

<Squid! Long time not talk. How you been?>

Ava took in a breath and just smiled.

"Whew man. Dad...you've missed a lot."

<Oh? Aren't hurt are you? What am I saying, those two brutes wouldn't let bugs bite you>

"Listen dad I'm just going to come out and say this because I don't really know how else to tell you."

<Aren't pregnant are you?>

"No dad stop and listen."

Ava sighed and rubbed her eyes with her free hand.

"I-I've begun dating again."

<Ho-ley shit no way! Who was man enough to actually come talk to you?>

She felt her cheeks turn red as she closed her eyes.

"Men actually..."

Jonas was silent for a breathtaking amount of time. Ava chewed on her lip closing her hand in and out of a fist a few times.

"Dad?"

<It's the twins isn't it Squid?>

"Yes, and before you start all your crap...please just hear me out."

<No.>

Ava was taken aback by her father's answer.

"No?"

<I don't need your explanation Squid. If you like them you like them. That's it. Poly relationships aren't all that uncommon hon. Besides, what better way to keep you safe then falling for the two people who have saved your life. More than once.>

"So...wait. You're alright with this?"

<They make you happy?>

"Happier than I have been in a long time."

<Lonely?>

Ava smiled and gazed down out of the tree.

"Not anymore. I don't even remember what that felt like."

<Then I am 100% alright with this. You've always been a bit wild yourself Squid. Honestly this isn't what I expected. I really thought you were pregnant.>

"No dad. We don't want kids anyways. Our line of work...no. It wouldn't be best."

<Well you have my blessing Ava and I am so very proud of you. Shame I can never meet them though. Be sure to tell them all the dad stuff I always say for me.>

Ava laughed leaning back in the tree.

"Of course. Also, and still not pregnant, I've decided not to go back to Rome."

<You're staying in the States?! That's where I am! Oh that's so exciting! We can visit more often and it'll be nice to be in the same time zone for once. Where are you staying for now?>

"Jersey. The twins mother lives out in the wilds here and she housed us while we found Thomas."

<Did you?>

"Yes, he is dead."

<Good. Well this is all exciting news Squid. Anything else to share?>

"Not that I can think of. But listen, there is not good service out here at all. I have to run to a main road to call so if you don't hear from me, don't panic."

<Just check in with me every couple days Squid. I want to make sure you are alright.>

"I will dad I promise."

Ava heard Jonas sigh and let out a small laugh.

<You remind me so much of your mother sometimes. It's scary. So strong willed and just...I don't know...ready? Anything could pop up and you'd have a plan to squish it. I am so very proud of you Ava. You are beyond anything I thought I could ever make.>

"Aw...dad..."

<I mean it Squid. You keep living your life how you want and be dammed anyone who tells you different.>

"I will dad. I am happy and I'd like to stay this way."

<Let me know when I can come out to visit. I'd love to see your new digs.>

"I will. May be a bit, starting over is going to be difficult."

<Just rely on those two hounds you have and everything will be fine. I am so proud of you. I love you Squid.>

Ava smiled her heart so happy.

"I love you too dad. You are the best dad ever."

<I'm trying but boy do you test my patience sometimes.>

"Oh shut up."

><

Returning to the den Ava set to finish up her files on Thomas in the living area. Smaller couches and a few big recliners sat around the room. Apollo had made a sunlight in the roof that could be covered and uncovered from outside. Ava lounged on a couch scribing notes on paper. Kayden came over and settled beside her without a word. She smiled down at her papers and asked.

"Yes boy?"

"Jayden is showering."

"Miss him?"

"More like...I'm bored and you are my source of entertainment."

Ava laughed and nudged his arm.

"Rude."

"I also wanted to make sure you were okay. I do know how you hate waking alone."

Kayden slid his arm around her shoulders and pulled her and her files into his side.

"I hope you didn't think we left."

"No, actually I was thinking you two were off hunting for Apollo or something."

Ava smiled up at him.

"I know you'd never leave me willingly boy."

Kayden returned her smile and he looked so happy it made Ava's heart swell with pride. She pecked his cheek then turned back to her file.

"I feel good though, to answer your question. Happy Thomas is gone, really happy that you two are willing to not go back to Rome, really-really happy my dad is alright with everything going on with me, and super-duper happy because now we can go back to our normal. Cuddling, killing, and fucking our lives away."

Kayden chuckled and gently kissed the top of her head.

"You speak to my soul Alpha."

"Top 3 favorite things?"

"Yes, although I am more partial to the third option."

He let out a soft purr growl and kissed her temple.

"Sliding into either one of your tight little holes is certainly at the top of any list I hold dear."

Ava shivered and moved to look up at him.

"You are so crude Kay. I like it."

He laughed smiling at her.

"I speak the truth. I have never once lied to you Alpha. Never."

"Think I'm tiny?"

His smile turned sinful as another growl left him.

"Compared to me? Yes Alpha. You are tiny, but I like it. Means I can pick you up and fuck into you like I adore so much."

Ava bit her lip and pushed against his body.

"Kay-den..."

"Yes Alpha?"

He teased with a smile. She snaked her arm around him and said.

"You keep talking like that and I will just have to use you again."

"Oh please do Alpha."

Kayden nipped at her ear and neck.

"I love being used by you."

"Willing to submit to me...must be difficult for such a strong male like yourself."

"Not at all."

He bit down on her shoulder, hard but still playful then said.

"You are my Alpha."

Ava moved away and gave him a playful growl.

"Damn right I am. How about you let me finish my paperwork then we can go to your nest and I'll gladly use you."

"Are you asking me? Because I will say no to any wait time if I have a choice."

Kayden growled. Ava laughed and tossed a file at him.

"I'm telling. Always, I am just kind and pretend to ask. Stay with me, I'm almost done."

"Alright Alpha, but only because it is you."

"Good boy. Ever the rebel but still so loyal."

"Always loyal to you. Finish your work."

Ava gave him a sly smile then said smartly.

"Yes boy."

><

Ava followed her boys out of the den just before sunset that night. They shifted into their pure wolf forms and took off into the trees. Ava followed them for a while nearing the lake. She was confused. Were they swimming or hunting. What did they have up their sleeves.

"Boys?"

"Almost there."

Jayden called back. Ava followed to the lake and they climbed up a small rocky cliff. Kayden stood beside his brother changing into their human forms above her. Ava gave them a confused look but changed as well.

"Where are we?"

They helped her up the cliff and Jayden answered with a smile.

"Hidden Lake. It's a tourist trap around here but we built this years before that."

"And today we spent most of the day making it ready again."

"Ready? Get what ready?"

Kayden nudged a large rock and it rolled away from a small opening in the rock.

"Our new home."

Ava looked from Jayden to Kayden then asked.

"Home?"

"Go inside."

Jayden said stepping aside. Ava went in and followed a hallway that lead into a main room. The twins followed and pulled the rock closed behind them.

"We will fix the door. This is all we could find right now."

"What is this?"

"This is the "living room" technically."

Jayden lit a few lanterns along the walls as Kayden said.

"Our bedroom is to the left, bathroom just beyond the bedroom, and the kitchen is on the right."

As her eyes focused in the dark she saw a large couch and a few end tables scattered across the floor.

"No power huh?"

"Wrong Alpha."

Jayden smiled at her.

"Not often you are but I built quite a few solar panels in my day. We have power, running water, and a satellite phone so you can speak freely with your dad. I know he would like to keep contact with you."

"Mom helped us with the kitchen. She is better at venting smoke then we are."

"This is for real?"

Ava turned to look at them.

"You two really want this? To be with me and live out here?"

"Yes."

Kayden growled. Jayden nodded and smiled over at her.

"You first but we do love it out here. The winters are beautiful, summers long, plenty of food."

"And there is a very active underground for hitman in Jersey."

Kayden added, his smile sinful.

"So we can stay here, with each other, and do as we please. Cuddling, killing, and fucking."

Ava laughed and went up to them.

"Boys...you two are amazing. Our date is to our new place?! That's so cute of you two. I am so in love with you and couldn't be happier. Thank you."

"You're welcome Alpha."

They said together.

"Does this mean we get a fifth date?"

Jayden asked. Ava nodded and hugged into his body.

"Yes, but I was thinking maybe I could take you two out for our fifth. You've been out doing yourselves each time. Give your Alpha a chance to wow you."

"Alright. Our suits won't be here for a few days so nowhere too fancy."

Ava nodded and turned to hug into Kayden.

"I'll come up with something. This place is wonderful and we have running water?"

"Warmed running water."

Jayden replied laughing.

"We hate cold showers. Just have to wait about three minutes before getting in. We are far enough away from the lake to keep ourselves private but we can still go swimming if you want. So...what do you think Alpha?"

Ava sighed against Kayden's shirt.

"About?"

Kayden ran his hand down her back as he gazed at her.

"Going back to our normal...here...with us. Would you want to?"

"Of course! This is awesome! This place is amazing!"

Ava touched Kayden's face then turned to look at Jayden.

"You two are amazing. Come here boy."

Jayden pressed into her hugging her tightly against his brother.

"You really won't leave us will you?"

"Never."

Ava shook her head against them.

"You're both going to listen to my orders for the rest of your lives."

They both lifted her up in between them and kissed her cheeks.

"Yes Alpha."

"Good boys."

Ava wriggled free of their grasp and moved a bit away. They looked to her, confused. She let out a sly smile and shifted her body to her full pelt.

"How about we play our game? I do need to learn this area if we are to stay out here boys."

Kayden's body instantly snapped into his full form as Jayden said.

"We'll give you a one minute head start. We know this area like the back of our paws."

Ava laughed. She felt alive and joyous. This was the life she wanted to lead, forever.

"You two are sweet to me. Ready to chase me forever boys?"

"Yes Alpha."

THE END
