The shuttle descended through the clouds and atmosphere of the blue and green planet, the occupants excitedly looked out of the portal windows. The seven cubs and their parents were planning on having a delightful picnic.
There was Lunablaze; a 5 year old chakamil cub, hir 8 year old soulmate Firetail, their sister Dawnlight, who was older than both of them at the tender young age of 13.
Then there were the triplets, all 2 years old and a bundle of mischievous fur of fun and mayhem, Nightbreeze, Vortex and Sandshift. And finally there was Firespot, who is 10 years old.
The parents were talking amongst them selves, there was Snowdrift, mother to Lunablaze and Nightbreeze and father too Vortex and Sandshift. Shi was a white tigertaur hermaphrodite. Shi was talking to Solarblaze, mother to Vortex.
Sundawn, mother to Firespot, Dawnlight and Sandshift and father to Firetail as well as co-mates with Solarblaze and Snowdrift, was piloting the shuttle.
(Confused?)
"Is there any dangerous animals on this planet love?" Snowdrift asked Solarblaze, who was busy checking the gear that they would be taking with them.
"The only dangerous denizens of the planet are sabrebears, and they only live in the upper atmosphere of the mountains." Shi replied, smiling at hir tiger mate.
"Will they come down to the valley?"
"Not unless you provoke them into chasing you down. But, don't worry. We'll have the force field generators up and running."
"Will we have chicken?" Firespot asked, wagging hir tail.
"Yes dear." Sundown replied.
"Yay!" came a chorus from all the occupants.
Finally, the shuttle slowed its descent and landed on the soft lush grassy field, surround by a few trees. Then the large family exited, carrying bags of food and utensils, as well as a few blankets.
Lunablaze, Firetail and Firespot bounded out of the shuttle and sniffed around, taking in the sounds and smells of the strange new world. Dawnlight was unfortunate to be in charge of one of the triplets, as shi was the oldest. Holding onto Sandshifts' leash, shi slowly walked off the shuttle, followed by Snowdrift, holding onto Vortex and Nightbreeze's leash, as shi was their parent.
Sundawn and Solarblaze followed, carrying the picnic basket, blankets and refreshments. After closing the shuttle doors and activating the force field, the 3 parents followed their cubs through the small bunch of trees and arrived at a lake with a few large rocks.
The cubs were already splashing and playing in the water, Lunablaze was using hir ability to sneak up on Firespot and dunking hir under water. Firetail giggled, and then was dunked by both Lunablaze and Firespot.
Dawnlight watched the cub's fun with resentment, as shi was forced to look after Sandshift as punishment over failing to do hir assignment. Sandshift snuggled up to hir, sensing hir older sisters unhappiness, and gave hir a hug followed by a kisslick.
Dawnlight looked at hir and smiled, scritching the cubs ears and head softly.
"It's ok little one, I guess I won't be joining the cubs in their games." Shi said.
Sundawn noticed the depressed feelings emanating from the chakat, and smiled, then called hir over.
"Yes momma?" the teenage chakat replied, leading the cub chakat along.
"Give me the leash hun, go on, and play with your sisters."
Dawnlight handed the leash to hir mom, gave Sandshift a kiss on hir head, and then hugged hir mother before bounding off towards the giggling thrashing trio.
Shi leapt into the water, creating a huge splash, before dunking both Firetail and Firespot together, then shi was set upon by Lunablaze, holding fiercely onto hir neck, giggling.
Sundawn smiled as shi tethered the cubs leash with the other 2 on the makeshift post, so that they would wonder far. Then shi helped prepare the picnic food and blankets.
"So you decided that Dawnlight can play, have you?" Snowdrift replied, giving a mock disapproval look.
"Yes, other wise hir sour feelings would upset the cubs and adults. I think shi learnt hir lesson." Shi replied, placing the bowls of potato salad and hard boiled eggs.
Snowdrift just nodded, still trying to understand chakat social behaviour and customs, even though shi had lived amongst them for decades.
