A Chance of Serendipity: Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Getting Closer

"You there?" Sean asked as he walked out of his apartment in to the long hallway. Nothing there. He walked down to the elevator as he pressed the buttons for the main lobby. Once he got there, he looked around to find his best friend, but not trying to seem suspicious or odd in anyway, so he casually walked to one of the front desks in the large room

"Excuse me," Sean said as the receptionist, a black- haired Hyena looked up from the papers she was working on.

"Yes, Sean?" answered the Hyena as she looked up at the large Panther. Before he answered back, he took a quick look around the room again to see if his friend was present.

"Anything the mater, Sean? You seem a bit distracted," the Hyena said, a tad concerned.

"I-it's nothing. Well, not entirely. Have you seen a red-headed Lion, about my shoulder height, and wearing a lot of black and blue?" he asked, being a bit descriptive so she can imagine a decent mental picture of him.

"Sorry, dear. No recollection of any type of Lion here," the Hyena said as her ears drooped a bit.

"O-oh. Don't worry your head. He's probably outside," Sean said as he thanked the Hyena for the help and walked outside to look for the said "red-headed Lion."

As for the Lion, me, I was outside in the parking lot, searching for an exit. I walked in between hundreds of cars, until I finally found an exit.

"Finally!" I exclaimed as I walked out and started making my way on foot to the front of the building. I walked up the side of the building, looking around for that big lug of a Cat as kept my eyes straight in front of me, eventually getting to the front of the building and walking to the right to see a bench, a bit occupied, but enough room for me to sit down, so I did so.

I took a seat next to the larger creature next to me, seeing his awfully familiar tail sway calmly.

"Excuse me sir. A-are you all right?" I asked the man, due to this town being a friendly environment with occasional bloukes that don't seem to care about other people's live. Oddly, a lot of people's live are connected, so they have general knowledge of one another. Don't ask me why. It's just the way it is.

"I... I..." said the man, his body shivering slightly. I stood up, trying not to touch him, but also wanting to see his face. I placed a finger under his chin, raising his face a bit as I looked up and saw that it was Sean!

"S-Sean!" I almost yelled as I immediately hugged him. Suddenly I was raised into the air in a strong embrace by the Feline.

"Oh my God, where were you, Ade?!" he asked, almost lumping for joy as he hugged his best friend. He placed me on the ground, me standing on my feet...completely.

"You're not the only one that has a car, you know. It took me almost a half-hour to look for a parking spot, and probably another half-hour looking for an exit from the lot itself," I said timidly, my arms folded across my chest. I unfolded them, placing them in my pockets as Sean ruffled my neck-length deep-orange hair.

"I'm glad you came, mate," he said happily as he started walking back to the apartment complex's front door, me following close behind. He stopped walking, opened the door, and motioned for me to walk in before him.

"Oh, stop, you," I said jokingly as I walked ahead of him, but stopping since I was in an unfamiliar territory.

"C'mon, now. Take my hand, and I'll lead you to my flat," Sean said as he held my right paw in his left, causing me to blush a bit. Him and I have always been affectionate friends towards, but not so publicly. For about a week, he's been attached to me, and it's growing on me...kind of.

"A-all right, I guess" I answered back, stammering a bit as he leaded me to an elevator. The doors opened, me walking in first and him following as he pressed FL3 on the series of buttons that seriously occupied one of the walls. I leaned against on of the walls that were empty, him suddenly placing an arm over my head, and keeping his body close to me as I kept my back against the wall. He leaned in, giving me a quick peck on the lips as a grin splayed across his face.

"I missed you so much, the wait for you to come here was almost unbearable," he said calmly. No one was in the elevator besides us, so we had it all to ourselves for the time being. He chuckle to himself as he lifted my chin the same way I did to him not too long ago. "I told you I should've driven you here."

"I needed to go for a little drive, anyways, Sean," I told him. "I wanted some fresh air, and I got some. Enough said."

"Waiting five minutes wouldn't be hard for you, though," he said as he licked my left ear, causing me to shiver a bit as I wrapped my arms loosely around his neck, pulling my face to his chest as I sniffed the soft cologne he always seemed to wear, it lingering on the soft fabric of his shirt and neck fur.

"For me, five minute was fine. I see five minutes being an eternity for your silly little head," I said back to him, giggling a bit as I kissed his muzzle softly, tilting my head to the left slightly as we kept our lips connected. He placed his right paw on my waist as he slid his paw up and down against it. Our tails lightly intertwined as we kept kissing, it always our way of being emotionally connected as we did anythingotgether. I lightly separated our kips, a string of saliva connecting our muzzles as we looked into each other's eye, his being a pale green and mine a deep blue. The elevator doors opened as we relaxed and quietly walked out of the elevator's area, my left paw holding his right and our fingers intertwined as we walked to his apartment's door.

"I wonder what the place looks like," I said softly, not wanting to bee too loud in the hallways as he unlocked the knob and opened the door...
