#12 of Writing Prompts

This Week's Writing Challenge: "It was the strangest meet-cute ever."

If you would like to join the writing group I'm in (It's good fun! We talk about food a lot.)

Please send me a DM and I will get you added to the group. :D

Felt like writing something for the prompt, but no real story came to mind.

So this will be kinda improvisational. Something I should be doing more of, honestly.

I may have a real story for this prompt later. But I'm behind on my list and gotta get something out D:

Hope you like it.

Kristian felt a paw on his ear as he awoke. The snow leopard had fallen asleep on one of the campus couches in the community area. Apparently some canine had absentmindedly begun rubbing his ear. He heard the male above him speaking casually to some others. Kris didn't think that anyone had noticed. Without thinking, he opened his eyes and met the gaze of another student sitting across from the dog and he. The deer grinned, trying not to laugh. Kris felt himself blush, profusely. He tried to look up without moving his head, but could only make out that he must have been a chocolate colored Labrador. The lab continued to idly rub his ear as he discussed the ins and outs of some kind of devise. They were words Kristian didn't understand. He was an art student, whereas the group sitting in this area were engineers by the leopard's best guess.

The deer across from him had stopped talking and just looked at the two, averting his gaze periodically. Probably when the lab looked his way. Kris looked at the deer, who gave him an encouraging smile and a thumbs up as quickly as he could. Kris was confused, which the deer seemed to have noticed. The deer pointing down at his own belt then at Kris. Trying to move as little as possible, he felt his belt. It was clearly exposed, along with a bit of his fur. The studded texture of his belt reminded him of the rainbow colored belt he had worn today. He guessed the deer was telling him the lab was gay. He shifted slightly to see what the dog would do. He jolted at put his hand back onto his own lap. Kris closed his eyes, feigning sleep as he heard the deer let out a giggle.

"Did he wake up?" The dog asked, nervously, "I didn't even know I was doing it."

"I think you're good, dude." Laughed the deer, "He looks like a heavy sleeper."

They went back to their conversations about the fluvial thermosomethings as Kris gave a small snore to add to his illusion. He could have just gotten up, but decided to avoid the awkwardness that was to come. Hoping they would leave. Though as he opened his eyes, the deer looked at him with a sinister grin. He looked over to the lab and asked a long winded question. It was something Kris' couchmate was clearly passionate about, which led the conversation into a lengthy discussion. It didn't take long for the lab to get comfortable enough to start rubbing his ear again. Without thinking, he let out a small coo. The dog stopped briefly, shuddered in his speech, but didn't take his paw off Kris. After a small pause, the idle massage started again. Kris would be lying if he said he didn't enjoy it. The dog was good, managing hit all the right spots. Feeling bold, Kris lifted his head, laying it down onto the dogs lap. There was no reaction this time. The deer cracked up, but continued his discussion. This move didn't go unnoticed by the dog.

Kris felt the dog lean over, "Comfortable?" He asked.

The leopard nodded. It was much better than the rolled up sweater.

"This is not weird is it?" He asked.

Kris shrugged, turning over to look up at the handsome dog. "Sort of, I guess."

"Sorry, I uh, didn't really realize what I was doing." The brown furred Labrador blushed, "I'm not used to being single again.."

"It's fine, really."

"I'm Brian."

"Kristian." He smiled, "Please, continue."

Brian rested his paw on Kris' other ear, beginning to rub it like he did earlier one. Relaxed, Kris closed his eyes, drifting off to sleep again as the student started debating.
