A MMA fighter is frustrated because all her sparring partners crumple under her blows, so she finds a proper training partner to really let out her inner beast on.

(F TF Alligator, M TF Turtle/Tortoise hybrid)

The frogs croaking in the night of Los Anul were almost indistinguishable from crickets in the night near the south east outskirts. Here the city trailed into marshland. The skyscrapers were as black as the night sky, making the millions of lit windows look like square stars. From here the half moon looked distorted because it was overlapped by the sorceress Moth in the sky over the tallest of the buildings. Moth had long ago introduced a magic to transform people into animals or partial (anthropomorphic) animals. This gave them the ability to do things only specific beasts could, changing the needs of humans drastically. Though initially this was created as a frantic effort to save humanity that had been nearly wiped out by a viral outbreak- the virus cannot infect you if you are half animal because your DNA is too altered for it to survive. Once population was greatly thinned and people could turn half beast, most of humanity shifted its technology in a different direction- now being more sympathetic to their natural surroundings and the beasts they partially shared forms with. Los Anul especially embodied this- the only vehicles bikes and trolleys, all overpass roads made of solar panels, and at the heart of the city underground was active volcanic activity. The volcanic activity was harnessed for geothermal energy- the city was almost entirely powered on steam and sunlight. Moth has since remained in the sky there in what looks like a crystal, but in actuality is an area of stopped time and not a physical object at all.

The folks who lived out here on the outskirts all did so because their animal half required a wetter landscape. The marsh is a perfect blend of, plant life, water, and earth. A woman named Carol walked quickly across the exposed land barely poking from the water, making it look like she was walking on the water's surface. Before this was even Los Anul there was a pre-virus city that had been almost entirely abandoned, so these marshlands still contained ruins of old neighborhoods. What Carol was actually walking on was the top of cement walls sunken into the soft mud and water. The residents of the new above water homes in the area had been drudging up bits of the old ruins and building strange monuments from the scrap which dotted the area- and also served as markers for those who knew the area well enough, so you know what areas are deep and which are shallow. She reached a huge rectangle plot that is covered in dense spongy moss, that was formerly two yards. The ruins of whatever homes had been here once were piled in a ring around perfectly intact lawn furniture and a fire pit placed there by the current neighborhood as a gathering spot. In the middle was a perfectly rectangle pond of crystal clear water- a pool that had gotten soil into it, then plant life found its way in and made it indistinguishable from a pond- other than its odd shape.

People in the area knew Carol, she came here often to the very edge of the city, and they greeted her as she passed wearing her tattered casual clothing- the stuff she wore when she trained so she did not ruin good clothes. Carol is an MMA fighter, a hardcore brawler. She stopped at the edge of the side of the pool and looked in with a grin at the handsome Asian man, sitting cross-legged meditating at the bottom of the deep end of the pool. He wore no shirt but had loose black pants on and no shoes. He often came down here to meditate- holding his breath for almost a full hour at a time easily since his body was barely moving and thus not using any oxygen. It was especially good because the water cancled out almost all sound, making it peaceful. Unless the sound was IN the water- because water actually carries sound quite well.

Carol shoved her face in the water and shout at him as loud as she could to break his meditation. "Hey, Toride-san! I need your help."

Toride opened a single eye and sighed- sending a stream of bubbles to the surface before he stood and in one leap, fired up to the surface and pulled himself out. He was still fairly young but he often had the personality of someone far older. He enjoyed calm and quiet, and Carol was unfortunately the opposite of that.

Toride took a deep breath of air- he had been down there for over twenty minutes already. "Well if it isn't South Carolina herself. What do you need Carol?"

"Training! You know you are the only person I can count on to spar with! Everyone else is too much of a pussy, or legitimately too soft to take my hits without crumpling like paper."

Toride sighed, but knew it would be easier to just go along. If he refused she would just keep badgering him and waste the entire day. At least if he did spar with her, she would burn herself out in half that time. The odds of her actually being able to hurt him are abysmal. Without another word he placed a hand across the small of his back and held the other out- palm first for her to strike. Carol rushed forward and hit it as hard as she could and his hand barely budged from the strike. She struck it several times and even gave it a roundhouse kick, still not causing him to so much as flinch. Carol stood up straight, grinning a moment and reached up to her pendant and turned a tiny dial on the side, closing a metal cover over the crystal within. Toride quickly did the same- she had made sure he seen her do it so he could match her. They both look human because they are both wearing wards. They are almost completely feral when they release their inner animals, so to still function in society they wear wards- but now that the wards were closed their inner beasts had nothing to restrain them. It is considered very rude to go easy on your opposition in training- you belittle them by doing so.

Carol smiled, revealing all her teeth were sharp fangs already, and she charged at Toride again, this time pausing to get her footing better before striking, and this time stuck so hard she nearly spun him around. With fluid movement he switched which was his dominant foot and crossed his struck hand behind him, placing the other now forward so she did not hit the same spot twice in a row. Her nails seemed to get swallowed at their base and grow longer at the same time, changing their position to the front of her digits as they thickened into shape cone shapes- claws. She pulled her hoodie over her head and tossed it aside as her skin would quickly be better protection than her clothes are, though she left her bra on for now. On her back there was already bumps starting to rise up and harden. Not just lumps of skin- they had actual bone inside. Her tailbone started to slowly grow out, causing her to have to pull her pants down in the back just enough so that the elastic was below the tail and not over it.

Toride's arm skin started to thicken and harden, almost looking like he had psoriasis for a moment. They hardened segments darkened to an army green color and started to press out sideways. This made his arms look wider than they are tall, making them look more fin-like as they grew. When Carol hit his palm again the changes seemed to surge from the impact, and his arms broadened so much that there was no distinction between hand and arm other than the fingers on the end. He pulled back and made a quick half-hearted jab and Carol had to pull back quick or be impaled. Much, much larger than her own, Toride now had claws, being the longest on his index and shorter on each digit after it- they formed a fan of long sharp points. The limbs of a turtle- enough like fins to swim with ease, but claw-like enough to still walk on land just fine. His legs did not seem to be doing the same thing though, they did not take on a flatter shape and only broadened slightly. His feet underwent the most drastic change, getting claws but not nearly as large as on his arms, and his toes and foot lost almost all definition, being swallowed in his leg that continued to broaden all the way to the flat of his foot at equal girth the entire way- making his legs look like pillars.

He could tell be the look in Carol's eyes the onslaught was coming. She seen his legs change and knew he would be harder to knock over now. Even as she lunged toward him, Carol's body grew longer. Both her torso and even more so in her tail. The spikes all over her back continued to multiply and grow, now the skin on the surface hardened to scale to prevent the growing bone within from lancing the surface. The spines of scale-clad bone are known as scutes. She collided with Toride in a flurry of punches, forcing him to already use both hands to catch her blows- though his hardened scales braced the impacts just fine. Carol's skin started to thicken and stiffen as well, but unlike Toride's scales, the skin color did not change that drastically and only turned a sandy tone, and rather than long sharp scales it turned to more of a leather texture. Carol always tried to train her punches, being self-conscious that in her true form her arms are actually pretty short, and unable to do much harm at all. The moment she felt her tail get long enough to touch the ground though, she spun around and slammed Toride with her girthy, muscular tail. She hit him so hard he was fired off his feet and went crashing through a mound of rubble!

Toride got up slowly, having only been slightly winded. Over his spinal cord was a line of scales, but these were larger and thicker than any other type of scale in the world. On his back was written a haiku, scarred into his flesh. As the flesh started to harden to scale, the kanji divided to each be on a separate plate, and became engraved. It was as odd a sight as it was a feeling. The front of his body remained stationary, while the back lifted out. From the back it looked like he was hunching over even though he wasn't moving at all. To him, it felt almost like taking a breath but his body was doing it entirely on its own without his input and it was his back that rose with his breath, not his chest. The spine curved farther and farther out, creating a bit of tension on the cartilage at the front of his rib cage as his ribs themselves stretched and broadened to keep up with the spine. As it moved outward, the plate scales started to spread from the spine and cover more of the back. His abdominal and pectoral muscles started to look more defined as they hardened as well, but unlike his other scales only turned a sandy shade, like Carol. They were also not covered in sheets of scales, but rather each section of muscle was covered with a single plate each. His hair also fell out, but his head was shaven already so it was no more than a fine dusting of short hairs that sluffed off. Toride placed his dominant foot forward and once again held a clawed fin out for her to strike.

Carol was going to have problems fighting in any sort of human style soon. Her torso continued to get longer, causing her to lean far forward as her limbs had not changed size at all. Her tail continued to get longer as well and the scutes continued growing all the way down to its tip. Her back started to darken to dark, almost black army green. Spreading from the scutes, the larger scales advanced across her, consuming her entire tail but did not travel as far as her front, which remained a sand colored leather skin. Carol charged at him again, planning to slam her body weight into him this time, feeling her arms were already becoming an inferior method of attack. As she approached her jaw started to crack and grow out. Her face started to progress forward, making her grin more severe. There was a pop from her jaw joint before the gentle clicking of advancing bone as it stretched forward. Two new fangs would quickly emerge to fill the added space and then it paused. The pause was a building of pressure before the next pop from her jaw, and the cycle of growth continued. Her hair started to fall out from the back forward- the advancing scales were forcing it out to grow in its place. Carol smashed into Toride with the force of a wrecking ball and sent him through a still-standing brick wall!

Toride's armored spine absorbed the impact. As the plates advanced he turned hard to his side to catch the edge of his back plates on the ground and dig it in to slow him from flying backward from the force. He slid partially into the muck outside the mossy plot, but not far enough to be underwater. Just like Carol's scutes, his back was reinforced, but his were broad and even harder. His back now a huge dome of tightly packed hexagonal armor plates that could probably deflect bullets. His ribs and spine themselves were fused as part of it, so it was all locked together as a solid, immovable mass. Toride was also forced to a hard forward lean, but not because his body was too long. The armor plates on the muscles of the front of his body grew big enough to start to fuse together into a big flat plate as well, which greatly hindered the flexibility of his body. The yellow front plate is the plastron, the rear dome is the carapace. His pants just fell away on their own since the plastron advanced far enough down to cover his crotch, his penis already hidden within. Completely tucked away, in spite of being about five times longer now.

Carol lurched toward him from the ruins she smashed him through. Her entire body was growing- not just longer. Her torso snapped her bra off so easily she did not even feel it through her thick skin, but her breasts had also been absorbed into her so she no longer needed it- she did not even have nipples anymore. Heck, she didn't even have a belly button- reptiles are born from eggs after all. Still her face got longer and longer- so much in fact it seemed to be pulling mass from the rest of her head, making her skull less and less defined. Her hair had all fallen away now, and her body was so long she could only remain standing for a couple of seconds at a time. Her tail became so thick at the base that her pants were unwearable, and she deliberately dragged herself on the rubble as she staggered through to catch the pants and pull them off of her. Her anus and vulva had merged into a single opening now anyway, and could only be visible outwardly as a long slit- a cloaka, tight enough with muscle that it was waterproof. She lunged at Toride again but this time opened her huge maw and landed into him teeth-first. He turned so she got a mouthful of his armored shell and spin to toss her off.

Toride caught her off guard when he fell onto all fours and bit her back! His nose had started to grow longer, but the bridge of his nose grew out even faster, creating a perfectly straight line from his forehead to nose. His lips pulled tight and hardened into a keratin edge that grew in the middle of top and bottom jaw as a single keratin hook, giving him an extremely vicious looking beak! Carol struggled to try and break free, but as she pulled his neck grew to follow. Longer and a bit thicker his neck grew out, not scaled like his arms, but rather covered in extremely thick, durable flesh like his rear legs. She finally broke free and turned and snapped at him. Her own lips had been stretched into non existence as well, and her face got still longer. Now her skull was barely existent- her eyes mounted in hard sockets on the top, her head was almost completely just mouth and nothing else. Toride quickly yanked his head back, compacting his neck toward his shell but not into it. The thick flesh of his neck pooled into a giant roll around his head. He pulled his head in though to miss her incoming maw and she bit the top of his shell.

Sounding like two rocks grinding together, Carol started to increase the strength of her grip, in an attempt to shatter the plates. The plate however, bit back. She quickly released her grip and swung back as a spike rammed into the roof of her mouth! The plates of his carapace were rising up and hooking backward in vicious armored thorns! Toride is not a pure animal form- he is a hybrid! His head, upper shell, and front arms are those of an Alligator Snapping Turtle! His lower shell, tail, and rear legs are those of a Tortoise. Turtles live more in water than land, so their limbs are more like flippers, while Tortoise are more on land than water so they have bulky pillar-like limbs. Unlike a lot of turtles and tortoise though, an alligator snapper cannot completely withdraw its limbs- it can tuck them in but not completely in the shell. It makes up for this by the fact its covered in cruel looking spikes and has an extremely painful, powerful bite.

Carol opened her mouth, showing her huge plush pink tongue as she released a hissing growl and lunged at Toride again. He once again drew in his arm so she caught only his shell, but she held on tight. Toride was going to bite back but immediately tucked in all his limbs as his body started to get lifted off the ground! Carol was still growing bigger, though at a very slow rate now. Alligators have no maximum size. As long as they continue to live and eat they will grow... forever. And even if you manage to hurt one- you can rip its entire arm off and the alligator can deliberately cut the circulation to the severed limb so it can't bleed to death, and just keep going as if nothing happened. Alligators have not evolved for many hundreds of thousands of years for a reason. You can't improve perfection. Toride knew not to counter attack now, because Carol was using every alligator's finisher- the death roll.

She rolled her body as hard as she could, yanking Toride off the ground, then slamming him down, then lifting him again, then slamming him down again. She bent her head as she rolled to increase the distance Toride left the ground for in each roll, which increased the force he slammed into the ground at till he was slammed down hard enough to rip him out of her jaws- leaving several deep rivets in the edge of the shell where her teeth dug in. As strong as a turtle shell is- alligators' jaws are still stronger. Toride used his long claws to turn the dial on his ward and turn it back on, but only opened it a little bit. He only allowed enough humanity to seep back into his body to break up his lower shell into segments, giving his torso flexibility again allowing him to get up onto his feet, in time to leap away as Carol crashed fact-first into the ground trying to snap him up again. She reached down and turned her ward on a bit as well, knowing she could not catch him like this unless he was in the water. She could only go quickly in a straight line on the land- although in the water she could dash around like a living rocket. Carol stopped once she had enough human to be able to stand- thought hunched far over. Her skull was mostly human shaped again, but her mouth still gigantic.

Carol ripped sections of the soft ground away and splashed algae-green waters through the air as she continued to attack Toride, who only back-stepped and turned slightly so all her attacks only grazed him. She swing her tail like a deadly whip, clawed at him in half-human punches and took every opportunity to throw her body weight forward and snap at him with her mouth, trying to rip a chunk off. She kept advancing and he kept back-stepping till they trudged farther into the water on the far edge toward the partially submerged trees. Out of breath from her unrelenting onslaught of attacks, when they were already knee deep in the plant choked waters, Toride just stepped to the side and when her attack missed Carol did not catch herself. She just fell forward face-first into the cool murky water and just float there like a corpse. With her face looking forward, her nostrils were on top of her long mouth, so she could lay in the water like this indefinitely without drowning. She was too tired out to get up and the cool water felt soooo good.

Toride chuckled at the alligator woman, crossing his arms. "You know what they say about the tortoise. I win the race."
