#5 of A Night She Couldn't Resist

Brooke has never been happier. She recently committed to her first genuine relationship while in her teen years, but once her boyfriend brings home a new pokémon-- a rather dominant midnight lycanroc that takes a certain liking to Brooke upon first sight, it quickly becomes a risky situation she has to make quick and constant decisions on.

The very thing Brooke hoped to avoid happened. She was awake and dressed at 7 a.m. to leave in thirty minutes. Parker woke her up with a call and a message. She had no idea why Parker chose one of the earliest times he could to catch a vulpix, but Brooke wouldn't chew him out for his excitement, even though she kind of wanted to. It was something she'd been trying to tone down on doing.

"Mmh... Fuck you, Vix." Brooke stared into her bathroom mirror and rubbed concealer over the marks on her neck that had no intention of giving her a break. The makeup she applied did well at hiding it. It was barely visible now, and Brooke would have to rely on it. She pulled her hair into a ponytail and slipped on white running shoes while yawning. Brooke kept the jeans and coat on she wore yesterday since it'd be cool out and messaged Parker that she'd be in front of his house in a few. She then washed her face with warm water so she'd wake up some more. Malie City had begun its waking hours. Quite a bit of the population was walking about along with Brooke. People did their morning shopping or exercised. Brooke didn't have a job yet, but she wouldn't be able to rely on Parker and her parents forever. Maybe she'd work for a coffee shop. Brooke could smell coffee all day and get discounted drinks. "There you are..." She saw Parker from down the sidewalk and approached. Pyro stood next to him, looking up at Brooke with a questionable expression on his face. It wasn't like she could blame him, either. He heard and saw Vix and herself going at it on his trainer's couch yesterday.

"Hey, Brookey!" Parker greeted her with a grin as she approached, holding a pokéball in his hand.

"You know I don't like that nickname." She crossed her arms as he took a step forward and hugged her. It forced a subtle smile out of her, and she returned his hug. "We're guaranteed to catch this thing today, right?" Brooke asked as they began their walk.

"Well, I wouldn't... say..."

She eyed him expectantly.

Parker dropped the pokéball inside the pouch on his waist and zipped it up. "...Of course we will."

"So, west through Route 11, 12, and 13." Brooke knew her legs would be exhausted after that.

"Yep, but it's scenic. It'll be fun."

Route 11, the first they entered, was tranquil. "This is one of my favorite routes." Brooke came here whenever she was bored of the Malie Garden. Its surroundings were abundant in nature. Tall grass and trees in every direction she looked.

"It's the calm before the storm." Parker watched Pyro trot ahead to sniff the grass.

He was referring to Route 12, the one after 11. It was a rugged pathway full of rocky boulders beside a tall and ominous mountain. One had to cross it with caution.

--

They did. The climb across Route 12 was most enjoyable for Pyro. He hopped across the boulders with precision and agility. However, it was the least enjoyable for Brooke. She was stepping across them well enough until she slipped and scuffed her right knee on one. They would have to tend to it once they got home.

The route following 12 and 13 was a gold mine after enduring a hellish journey.

"Tapu is next, hun. Sorry about your knee." Parker placed a hand on her upper back.

"It's fine..." Brooke ignored the pain and focused on the sights Route 13 held as they strolled its smooth dirty terrain. It faded to grass once they neared the mini oasis at the route's center. A small, clear blue pond shielded by palm trees and other nature. Brooke stopped by and crouched to rest. She watched Pyro lie in the oasis' short grass in front of her to cool off.

"We can stay as long as you'd like." Parker kneeled beside her and embraced her with his arm.

"Just a few minutes." She leaned against him, her head on his chest.

--

They'd spent two hours away from Malie City so far and were now walking north along Tapu Village's dirt paths surrounded by more grass and trees while searching for a vulpix. There was a small pond off to the left Brooke watched while they strolled. Not many trainers were on this route, so they heard ambiance and often rustling in the nearby grass.

Pyro was helping as well. He twitched his ears whenever he heard a sound and trotted far ahead, spotting a few wild pokémon.

"This could take a while." Parker watched Pyro walk through patches of grass.

Brooke stuck her left hand in her pocket. "Could be worse. At least it's quiet." Her legs ached, however, and her knee still hurt, but she wouldn't complain.

"Torr!"

Brooke and Parker stopped in their tracks and set their eyes on Pyro ahead.

He knew what to look for and saw a fluffy, snowy tail peeking from a patch of grass. Pyro was primed and ready to pounce-- until the pokémon emerged out of curiosity. It was adorable. Pyro noticed it freeze up and cower upon seeing two humans. Its tail lowered to the ground, and its eyes dilated.

"That's it! Pyro, ember, quickly!" Parker didn't want it to get away.

Pyro glanced back at Parker, then ahead at the vulpix.

"Parker, I don't think Pyro wants to injure it. It's not even putting up a fight." Brooke grinned.

"Ah... I guess you're right. I just hope it doesn't run." He took an empty pokéball out of his pouch, pressed its release, and threw it at the vulpix. The ball hit the side of its body and quickly consumed it. There was a beat of silence, and the ball didn't show signs of struggle. "I guess it isn't a fighter."

"It's still young. Give it a break." Brooke walked to the ball and patted Pyro's head on the way. "Proud of you." She picked up the pokéball and tossed it up, catching it while walking back to Parker. Once it was in the pouch, they sauntered down the village's designated dirt paths toward the Pokémon Center, a few palm trees and trainers littering the area.

"I'm glad we caught it today. I guess we can skip the Pokémon Center."

--

They took the journey home and were back on Route 11 in two hours. Parker had returned Pyro to his pokéball so he could rest.

"What are you gonna name it?" Brooke questioned.

"I'm not sure. Maybe I'll name it after you."

"What, why?"

"Did you see how cute it was?"

"No... Parker, that'd be weird. We don't even know if it's female. I am flattered though." She giggled a bit, then turned her gaze ahead as they neared Malie City. "Finally, my legs are killing me." Brooke lifted them a few times in between steps.

"You can lie in my bed for as long as you'd like... If you want," Parker offered, and Brooke wouldn't reject it. She didn't want to walk the extra distance to her house, anyway.

They arrived in roughly ten minutes, and Parker unlocked his front door, letting Brooke inside first.

"Thanks." Brooke entered and washed off in his restroom before taking off her coat and throwing herself overtop his white blanket. She adjusted her red tee and rested her head on one of his pillows. After drinking water, she ended up falling into a nap within minutes. Brooke was exhausted. She didn't know how Parker walked to Tapu twice in a week.

She slowly opened her eyes a while later and sat up, yawning. She saw Parker resting a small distance from her, but he was awake. "What time is it?" Brooke rubbed her eyes.

"It's two in the afternoon. You were out for a while."

She stretched her arms and turned that action into her positioning them forward, requesting a hug while staring cutely .

Parker grinned and sat up, giving Brooke her much-needed embrace.

She softly kissed his lips while firmly holding his sides, and he returned it, of course, which led to Parker setting Brooke onto her back while he continued kissing her tenderly and ran his left hand underneath her shirt and over her slim stomach.

"Mh, babe..." Brooke rested her left hand on the bed, her right holding his arm while he explored her body. She spread her legs under him and bit her lip.

Parker moved his face down a bit lower though, which may as well have stopped her heart as Brooke felt him begin to kiss her neck.

"You didn't tell me you got hurt, Brooke. What happened?" He pulled away and eyed her face. The concealer she put on earlier, combined with only a small amount of light seeping into the room from out of the window, made the marks resemble a few bruises or spots. Parker didn't seem to suspect anything.

"It's nothing. I'll tell you later... Don't worry about it," Brooke told him and finished with a slight grin.

"You sure?"

"Yeah, babe. I'm sure."
