Loona's Love Life.

Chapter 16: How To Mend A Bleeding Heart.

July, 14, 2021.

Loona had cut herself off from the world around her. Over the past week, she'd simply shut herself in her room and only left it to go to the restroom, and occasionally grab something to eat, but blitz was still worried seeing her meals were few and far between. He went over to her door and gave it a gentle knock.

"Hey, Loony, can I come in?" He asked as Loona lay there on her bed, hugging one of Alex's pillows tight. She glanced at the door and let out a whine as she buried her muzzle deeper into her pillow. Blitz just sighed as he sat down at her door and frowned.

"Honey listen, I- I just wanted to let you know that Alex's funeral is going to be held next Wednesday." When he didn't hear anything he continued.

"They're going to have a viewing however later on tonight." He swallowed a lump in his throat and took a deep breath to calm his nerves.

"His parents invited us, Moxxie and Millie over to attend." Still no reply. He looked sky word for the first time in his life and prayed.

"God, I know you're up there, and I know it's a lot to ask, but please, please from one father to another, please don't let my baby girl suffer like this." He sat there feeling hollow and unsure. All of a sudden a surge of warmth made its way throughout their home filling Blitz with a euphoria unlike any other. Slowly however it dissipated leaving him feeling tingly and confused. Loona's door burst open causing Blitz to stumble and fall backward, Giving Loona a small fright but she soon helped her dad back to his feet.

"Did you feel that?" She asked as for the first time in over a week she had a faint smile upon her face. Blitz nodded as he dusted himself off and took his daughter's hand, leading her towards their dining table. She sat down and held her blanket close at hand, shivering as she looked around the room.

"So, they're having a viewing tonight?" She asked skittishly as Blitz just nodded.

"Yeah, his parents want to meet you, you know. He told them so much about you..." He trailed off as pain began to make itself at home in his heart. His eyes moist and nearing to burst, Blitz took a deep breath and smirked.

"The service starts at 5 and ends at 7." He looked over at the clock and saw that it was close to 4:30.

"We should probably get ready." Loona looked over at the clock and scowled, but said nothing as her father went and got on his best suit. Instead, she went to her room and scrambled to make herself look presentable, combing her hair, grooming her fur, even taking a shower to wash off Alex's blood, the scent of death, and hopefully carry off the pain that remained. Once that was done she opened her sparse closest and picked out a simple plain black dress, It wasn't fancy or ornate in any single way, and that was ok, she wanted tonight to be about him, to honor his memory and legacy.

"So... you ready?" Her father entered the room and saw that Loona was indeed ready, no make up, no chains, nothing that would grab anyone's attention. She flashed her dad a sorrow filled grin, Blitz returned it.

"Come on then, we can go pick up Moxxie and Millie and head on over to earth." Loona gave him a nod and together they left the small house they occupied and took the van to the center of Imp city to pick their two companions. On the ride to earth, Loona couldn't help but place a hand on the spot next to her, where Alex once sat, it brought fresh tears to her face but she hid them behind her veil and instead focused her gaze out of the window.

"I hope your happy up in heaven." She whispered to herself as the crew took the freeway to Stolas's estate.

Luckily they were able to make it there by 4:45, and fifteen minutes later they were back on earth and at the funeral home where the wake was being held. They parked their van in the parking lot and all four of them got out feeling morose. A shout got their attention and they saw a woman waving them over, she was a stout portly woman, but she greeted them with a smile all the same. The group all went over and one by one gave her hand a shake, where she introduced herself as Rosemary before bidding them entrance to the hall where the viewing was to take place. When Loona went to Rosemary, the old woman held onto her tightly, Loona however didn't mind, she'd gotten used to hugging others since her father and Alex insisted on doing it every now and then.

The members of I.M.P. all went inside and took seats in the back of the hall. Rosemary however followed them inside seeing as they were the last to arrive, and shook her head.

"Come along you four, this way," She motioned for them to follow her and they reluctantly did so, feeling awkward when she lead them over to a set of front row seats.

"Oh no, we can't-" Blitz began to protest but Rosemary held up a hand.

"My son thought highly enough of you to fight and die by your side." She stunned them with this little tidbit of information, they just gave her looks of confusion and slight bashfulness. She merely smiled and gestured to the front row seats.

"Please?" The group all nodded as they sat down, Rosemary taking a seat next to them waiting for her husband. The wait wasn't long, however, as 5:30 on the dot, the two double doors at the front of the chapel opened up, and In walked Victor and several other men, all bearing the weight of a simple wooden casket. As Loona turned to look at it she wished she hadn't as all of the painful memories came flooding back to the forefront of her mind. She grabbed her head and tried to stifle the dam before it overwhelmed her but a hand on her shoulder brought her back to the proceedings.

"Don't hold it all in dear." Rosemary advised the hellhound.

"Let it all out, you're safe here." Those three words echoed a statement Alex had made to her once, and just like that, her dam broke. She held onto the old women and wept openly without fear of rebuttal or hecklers. Rosemary ran her hand through Loona's hair, to help comfort the grieving girl, it helped a little bit, feeling not so small or alone in that moment in time. Soon Loona's tears were spent and if she was being honest with herself she felt a little better. She let go of Rosemary and asked for forgiveness for derailing the wake, but the old woman wasn't taking it.

"No harm in showing your true feelings dear." She had a far off look in her eye.

"My first son died, and while I thought I'd gotten used to it, having a loved one pass away never gets any easier." The old woman's eyes began to mist over but she shook her head and gave the group a soft smile. The viewing went as scheduled, with various friends and family going onto the stage to talk about Alex and how he affected their lives. The service was winding down and every once and awhile Victor would glance at Loona and her family, finally, he took to the stand one last time that night.

"Does anyone else have anything they'd like to say?" Without thinking Loona stood up, when she felt the eyes of everyone on her however she froze her face red with embarrassment, a hand on her side however made her look down to see that Rosemary was giving her a soft pat on the back.

"Go on dear." With his mother's encouragement, Loona went up to the stage and took the mic from Victor who gave her a soft smile as she cleared her throat.

"U-uh hey everyone." She gave a bashful smirk as some of them replied with a hello.

"Um, most of you don't know me," She stopped as she took a deep breath, but continued when she felt a calming presence surge through her.

"I am..." She stopped as tears came to her eyes.

"I was a close friend of Alex." She smirked as the past few months played back in her mind.

"We were also partners at our job." she let out a laugh as she remembered him nerding out with Moxxie over a new gun they had purchased.

"He was such a nerd, and loved guns." She smiled even wider as a few of the audience members laughed as well.

"But that was only one side of him, t-the other side was someone who was calm, kind, and loving." Her breath hitched as she remembered some of the late night time they spent just talking to each other over the phone. She let out a laugh puckered by shuddered as tears fell down her face. The crowd also had tears, but some began to feel that there was more to this woman that had known their friend.

"That was one of the reasons I fell in love with him." She let out a sob as she fell to her knees.

"He cared about everyone," She let out a hiccup as her tears flowed freely once again."

"And he truly cared about me, he would go through so much just to help get me out of my own head and live life." She sniffed as Victor came over and held the mic for her.

"He cared enough about a no name, degenerate, screw up like me to save my life, twice." She let out a growl as she hit the hardwood floor, causing it to splinter.

"And this last time, was the reason---" She stopped as a new wave of pain and sorrow hit her, Blitz had made his way up to help comfort his daughter.

"There, there, Loona it's ok. Sh, sh, daddies here." He gave Victor a pleading look and the old man helped bring Loona back to her seat, where she curled up into a ball. Victor once more asked if anyone else had anything to say. Moxxie lifted a hand and Victor motioned for him to come up and take the mic. As he did so Blitz continued to consul his daughter while Rosemary looked on in wonderment at the members of I.M.P. who all eventually went up and gave their last goodbyes to Alex.

"At first total strangers, now the best of friends." Rosemary smiled as she shook her head.

"And here I'd thought that I'd seen everything." She smiled as tears came to her eyes.

"True love amongst the denizens of hell." she looked at Moxxie and Millie who held each other tight as Blitz took the stage. Looking at Loona she frowned to see the poor dear hurting so much.

"_And love between a human and a hellhound."_She shook her head as she got up from her seat and began to walk down the isle, but a hand stopped her and she looked over to see Loona giving her a pleading look.

"Please?" Her want clear in her eyes, the old woman smiled as sat down, laying Loona's head on her lap and brushing a hand through her hair. This time she didn't stop till she felt Loona's heart slow down and she'd fallen asleep. Her dad had come over and smiled as the old woman continued to stroke Loona's head the hellhound letting out a small whine when Rosemary gently gave her to her father.

"I'm afraid I must take my leave." Rosemary said as she got up, Blitz gave her a wave.

"Thanks Ms. Valois." Rosemary just smiled as she gave a nod and left the chapel. When all was said and done the end of the service loomed near and only a few people remained, including the members of I.M.P. Victor opened the casket and saw his son, who looked as if he was simply sleeping. He shed his fair share of tears as he bid his son farewell and placed a cross in his grip. Up next came Loona seeing as no one else wanted to go before her. She slowly walked up to Alex's casket and peered inside, she felt as if he sleeping and cried as she reached down as if to wake him up.

"Good b-b-by Alex." She said faintly as tears rolled down her muzzle. She held her emotions together long enough to place a bouquet of roses in his hands leaning down to place one final kiss on his lips.

"I'll always love you." with her emotions all over the place she quickly stood back and briskly walked out of the chapel to get some fresh air. The rest of I.M.P apologized as they went after her but Victor assured them that all was well. Blitz saw his daughter head over to the van where she sat down on the ground looking up to the sky. When Blitz got to her he to sat down and looked up.

"He's really gone?" She said as her eyes watered. Blitz sighed as he shook his head.

"Yeah, he's up there." He then snickered as a thought crossed his mind.

"Probably bugging the hell out of them asking if he could watch over you." Loona smiled as she thought about it.

"Heh yeah and also everyone else here." She looked over to Moxxie and Millie who both came over and sat down next to Loona. Together the group sat there and looked up at the starry sky.

"We used to do this every now and then." Loona said her face falling as she remembered more good times. A hand on her shoulder made her smile as her dad gently hugged her close. Moxxie and Millie joined in on the hug as well. The happy moment was interrupted by Victor, who tried to remain silent as to let them have as much time as possible together, but alas, Loona let out a small chuckle as she waved her family off of her.

"Hey, Mr. Valois. How's Rosemary doing?" Victor was puzzled.

"Who?" Loona looked back to the Chapel.

"Rosemary? Alex's Mother?" She asked feeling like she was missing something. Victor now looked even more confused.

"Rosemary? His mother's name is Beatrice." All four members of I.M.P. gave him a look of abject horror.

"Then who was that woman in the chapel?" Victor had no idea. As the five of them all conversed, God looked on, a smirk adorning his face as he watched over these most peculiar of hell's residents.

"I'll have to let Alex know how things went." With a mere thought God was back in heaven, and overlooking Alex's training. Ever since he'd arrived a week ago he'd had one thing on his mind, even if he wasn't going to see them for very long or ever again he'd wanted to at least see the members of I.M.P. as his family one last time. His conviction was solid and his skills with a weapon were sorely going to be missed.

"Alex, come, walk with me will you?" Alex stopped his combat drill's and sheathed his sword. He gave the angel overseeing his training a bow and calmly walked over to God, a smile on his face.

"Hey." His face said one thing but his soul another.

"So, how'd the funeral go?" He asked as God wrapped an arm around his shoulder.

"It was beautiful." He waved a hand in the air causing a window in time and space to open up.

Together Alex and God sat back and watched as the events of the past few hours unfolded before their eyes. Alex couldn't help but tear up as he watched Loona go through the emotional turmoil of having to be there at his wake. When she got up on stage however she began to choke up. He reached a hand out and was surprised to see that it went through the portal. He briefly made contact with Loona's shoulder which seemed to calm her nerves a little allowing her to continue her speech.

He pulled it back in shock however and gave it a once over. Holding it close he began to cry as he remembered their time together. This greatly distressed God, he didn't relish the thought of any one of his sons or daughters being in pain. Looking from Loona to Alex he felt that there as only one possible solution to this dilemma. Taking a deep breath God placed a hand on Alex's shoulder and smiled.

"You know my son I may have a way for you to see your friends and family again." Alex gave God a look of absolute joy.

"Really? How? I'll do whatever it take1" He shouted getting to his hands and knees begging. God gave him a pat on the back, and the smile on his face radiated mirth.

"I have a grandchild who resides in hell, and she's a bit eccentric, she will also need a bodyguard from time to time." Alex got to his feet, hopeful but not to eager. God meanwhile smiled even wider.

"And seeing as I don't really have any agents in hell on a permanent basis it would be nice to have someone who knows the lay of the land so to speak to live down there and pop in every once and awhile to cheek up on her, make sure she's protected when she goes out and about." He smirked as Alex practically threw himself at his feet.

"I volunteer!" Alex knelt down and bowed before God, making himself as subservient as possible. God just stood up and pulled Alex with him, wrapping him in a tight hug.

"I know you will do me proud Alex." He spoke as he snapped his fingers and all at once they had left the training grounds and were now at a great castle.

"Head to the armory and get your gear. You ship out first thing in the morning." Alex gave God a salute that he returned. Alex could barely contain his excitement however as he ran up the steps and made his way inside the castle. He shook his head and walked back his throne. Once there Jesus gave him a smile as he looked over some files.

"So I take it Alex is on his way back to see Loona and the other's?" God nodded.

"Yes, I will dearly miss him." His smile never wavered and Jesus came and gave his father a hug.

"Don't worry, He'll pray to us and we'll be able to commune with him like always." He released his father and went back to filing paperwork. God smiled as he looked in on Alex who had already picked out his armor and was now going through the available weapons for use.

"I'll never understand his fascination with weapons." Jesus looked up and smiled.

"I think it has to do with a humans need to physically exert themselves either for fun or challenge." He took a particular file and put it under the transient pile. The two of them sat there and talked about the day.
