#9 of Spyro's Growing Up.

Greetings. I havn't the heart to make a cheery comment, in light of this story, but I will say this. This chapter is NOT for those who cry easily, unless you wish it so. Again, I must draw on Nickelback to increase my stories calibre.

There will be an interlude in which I shall tell you when to turn it on. Read on, if you think you can handle it. It was hell for me to write. Byt the way, again, this is Nickelback's song, not mine.

All the realms knew that Spyro and Ember had stopped the evil that was threatening to engulf them, but there was a curious sadness in the air. They had heard rumors that a large dragon had been moved away from the scene under a blanket and on a stretcher.

A large purple and gold dragon.

Over the next few days, the rumor was confirmed. Crying dragonesses held their hatchlings tightly too them, and dragons said that they had something in their eye.

Spyro the dragon was dead.

It did not seem possible, but here it was. The greatest hero ever known had been beaten. A day of national mourning followed soon after, and a funeral for Spyro was held at a graveyard, to be presided over by the high priest of the dragons. Only Spyro's nearest and dearest were allowed to come, and Ember would not allow it to be televised.

Nothing was to be said, and the only thing that was to happen was a song that Spyro had also written himself, in the rare spare time he had. It was to be sung by Hunter, with him on guitar, Sparx on bass and Sapphire on drums. They had setup their insturments earlier, and were now waiting for the high priest to tell them to start.

And then the high priest nodded towards them, and they started.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Turn it on now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It started with a sad baseline from Sparx, and then Sapphire and Hunter joined in, Hunter beginning to sing 'Prison gates won't open up for me, on these sets of knees I'm crawling, and all I reach for you.'

Noone could help it, the fifty or so dragons there started to sniffle. Ember had been in floods the whole time.

'Well I'm terrified of these four walls, these iron bars can't hold his soul in, all I need is you, come please I'm calling, and all I scream for you, hurry, I'm falling, I'm falling.'

The coffin was pushed in, to be laid to rest under a magnificent obelisk of a head stone, with his visage carved into it.

'Show me what it's like, to be the last one standing, and teach me wrong from right, and I'll show you what I can be, and say it for me say it to me, and I'll leave this life behind me, say it if it's worthit to meeeeee.'

Everyone was filing up, laying flowers and cards across the top of the coffin. Ember could not move, blinded as she was by her tears.

'Heaven's gates will open up for him, with those broken wings he's soaring and all we see, is you.'

This was a particularly stirring line, and now most other females were in floods, with the males progressing to silent crying.

'These city walls ain't got no love for me, he's on the ledge of the eighteenth story and all us scream for you, come please were calling, and all we need from you, hurry, your falling, your falling.'

'Show me what it's like, to be the last one standing, and teach me wrong from right, and I'll show ya what I can be, and say it for me, say it to me, and I'll leave this life behind me, and I'll leave this life behind me, say it if it's worthit to me, hurry I'm falling.'

Spyro's coffin was lowered into the hole that had been dug, and now everyone was clutching at their partner, sobbing uncontrollably. Everyone except Ember, who no longer had a partner to sob against.

'Haaaaaaaayy, yeah-heah!' sung Hunter, tears silently matting the fur on his face.

There was a stirring and sad instrumental, and then Sparx played that baseline again.

'And all, we need, is you, come please, we're calling, and all I scream for you, hurry, your falling, your falling.'

'Your falling.'

As the final chorus began, the great marble slab that was to encase Spyro was pushed onto his tomb.

With his powerful guitar in the background, Hunter began to finish, 'Show us what it's like, to be the last one standing, and teach us wrong from right, and we'll show ya what we can be, and say it for me, say it to me, and I'll leave this life behind me , say it if it's worthit to me.'

'Hurry, I'm falling, and say it for me say it to me, and I'll leave this life behind me, say it if it's worthit to meeeeeee.'

And as an unseen piano echoed across the land, the tomb was irretrievably sealed.

And so it is.
