#2 of Ice Soldier

Well, he got on the plane, and the feeling of joy was much less strong, after being strapped down onto a table, and forced to look up at the ceiling, Rick really wasn't all that happy. He shrugged his shoulders, or he would of if he could, but the straps seem to do a goodie good job of stopping that. The Petty Officer that was assigned to 'watch his condition' was laughing his ass off!

"It really isn't that funny..." Rick growled out, tugging at the straps again.

"Like hell it isn't!" The Petty Officer gave him a poke.

Rick snapped his teeth, and looked peeved at the Petty Officer. The huffed and looked away from him, before yawning and dozing off on the strap down bed. He rocked in the blissful sleep until he felt the ship drop out of hyperspace and the inevitable slam into the bulk head from the slow down. His head rolling around after the stretcher hit the wall. Followed by the usual string of sailor cusses, and then a wiggle in the bonds to test them, he grunted and looked up at the Petty Officer who had been standing apparently, because he now had is head in the deck box, and was firmly stuck, now was Rick's turn to laugh.

The Petty Officer pulled his head out of the box to reveal he had a big black ring of grease on his head, which just made it all the more hilarious and got a larger roar of laughter from Rick. The Petty Officer had a mix of worried and pissed look on his face, and that in itself was unsettling. Rick was about to ask what was wrong when the bulkhead exploded above the Petty Officer's head, killing him in a bright splash of blood, and then dropping the body, metal, and burning bits all over the floor, searing hot metal bits landing on Rick causing him to arch his back in pain and scream aloud, the straps giving when one of them caught fire.

The room was rapidly filling with smoke, and the oxygen tanks were coming out of the walls for the Damage Control teams. The tanks of course were fire retardant, but that didn't mean that prolonged proximity to fire was a good idea, in fact, if they stayed this close to the fire, it was more than likely they would explode, which left Rick with two options, put out the fire, or get the hell out before they do explode. After what seemed like an hour, but was really only 5 seconds, he managed to get out of the room, hit the air lock, and then vacuum the room to put out the fire.

Damn, no matter how many times he saw someone die, it just never got easier, jus the way it was, it never got easier. He grabbed the nearest bunker lock, and then opened it to reveal the magnetic storage racks. He reached in and pulled out a light rail gun, something that was a weak weapon of choice, but on ship it would be a good idea NOT to have something that could blow a whole in the ship, and into the nasty little killer called space outside the ship. Then he stood there, as if the ship was being slow about the process, and then having hold of his rifle, having it loaded, and only then did ships code blue alert go off, the blaring alarm was nothing if not irking him.

He walked down the hall, being only, 'medical cargo', he didn't have a battle station. So he just ambled down the hall way, looking about as if this happened everyday, and to him, it seemed like it did... He had to look into that one day, I mean really look at that one day, not just kinda look at it, really look at it, was someone against him? Did the fates hate him? First sending his love to the far off station from him, and then putting him on a ship! A ship that was getting attacked none the less! Just his luck, he gets to go to his love's planet and the damn ship he is supposed to be taking there gets attacked!

Well, he wondered if the Petty Officer had a family, friends, or hell, a secret lover, all this trying to drown out that annoying alarm going off. His mind trying to piece what the hell was going on, but drawing a blank, he cursed, and then looked over the available info, fire, explosions, and in the war zone, thus then drew the conclusion that the ship was under hostile attack, and this made him pissed, yes this pissed him off to no end. He was SUPPOSED to be going to see his love, not being a spare soldier on a targeted ship, hell, he really didn't care about the war, he hadn't signed up for a 'just cause' he just wanted the education.

He was walking down the hall, looking about, then stood there watching the yellow ring glow as a arching torch cut through the bulkhead into the ship, he stood there watching still as the metal piece fell over and the attack party. The first guy out slammed into the hall, swiveling the high gauge concussion rifle around, then stopping when he saw Rick standing there lax, he raised a brow, and then Rick just raised the rail gun and put a 2 inch hole in the guy's head. Rick watched with a mild look of amusement as the body feel to the floor and then looked at the other two, looking back at him with shock and awe at how casual Rick had just dispatched their buddy.

Rick just growled lightly and put another rounds in said intruders, filling them with holes, shooting them dead quickly. He laughed darkly and then kick the first on he shoot, sighing and hitting the hull seal after putting a couple charges he got off on the fallen intruders into the enemy ship, then jettisoned the ship, right after sealing the hole left. Rick sighed and then walked back over to the main hall, getting a mixed look from the group of sailors there, they having been fighting the boarders for the past 12 minutes, a couple wounded, and more than just a couple dirty.

They all gave him funny looks, then just flat out avoided his gaze, looking back and forth at the holes, now inactive that were left in the wall from the boarders, and the holes left in the wall from rail gun fire. Holes, holes, holes, just like his heart without his love. Hopeless romantic yes, drunk on love, also yes, pissed about the delay,... hell yes! He walked over and repeated the same process with the other boarding vessels sending them into space and blowing them up. Then, looking back over his shoulder at the stunned crew.

"What are you waiting for!?! I have somewhere to be!" Rick roared in anger and impatience.

The was a look of wide eyed surprise, then they hurried back to their stations, starting up the engines, and then getting ready to jump back to warp, the little, 'skirmish', have had cost them an hour and a half. Rick just tapped his foot impatiently while he waited, looking bored to sickness and angered to oblivion. So, the what happened after that just light the candles on the cake of his already impatient mind.

What they were greeted by after they exited warp above the planet was a distress call, a pre recorded on warming any non military ships to leave the sector due to the Confederation ships now occupying the vacuum space. The only thing that made it worse was when the ship got to orbit above the planet and he looked down on the scanner screen to see with grim horror that the medical facility had been destroyed, and was in a shocking gut churring blaze.

Rick, at first stood shaking, his fists balled tightly in rage and sorrow, a lump in his throat, and his eyes watered, he let a single tear fall, and then set out for revenge.

"Those confederates will pay!" Rick growled out, letting his dragon's rage take over, his scales heating up his hyper suit, making it glow and coolant warning go off.

The ensign on the bridge, a lemma, was looking sideways at Rick, and was backing up quickly from him, he hit an active screen and the contents of the message flashed up on the screen.

The message was grabbled but it came through enough, "This is medical station 97765, we have just picked up an invasion force of Confederate ships, we have picked up drop pods on their way in, we are starting evacuation,...." The message cut out for a while, then came back with gruesome clarity, "They are launching drop ships, we are attempting to get clear, but they have already landed...." It cut out again, this time for only a short period of time, the original voice for it having been replaced, and the video now clear, a human in black armor, that covered his chest and his legs, but with now helmet, bearing the cursed white crest on the center of his plating, "That will teach you Allied scum!" The man let out a laugh and looked right at the camera, "You Allied fools are not safe from us!" He smirked and put his gun to the heavily wounded figure who had first started the message, and pulled the trigger, sending blood all over the camera, and then, static.

There was a mixed reaction on the bridge, at first, the only thing that happened was a look of utter disgust, and then, a couple of the weaker ones started to throw up. Rick look now with a mixed sense of hope, and a impossibly strong sense of anger. He turned as calmly as he could to the ship's Captain, the Captain looked back at him, with a look of solid stone.

"Captain, permission to go planet side." Rick grunted out, trying to stay formal, but having it be impossibly hard.

"Negative Seaman." The Captain said with an unchanging look back at him.

Rick gritted his teeth, "Permission to go planet side Captain."

The Captain glared at Rick, "I said Negative Seaman, that is an order."

Rick was on him in less than a heart beat, his rail gun up and under the Captain's chin, "Permission to go planet side Captain."

The stone wall Captain now had a look of utter shock and horror splayed across his face, "Per-permission granted!"

Rick grunted and threw the Captain down on the floor, "Thank you sir." He walked off without looking back, his gaze stabbing daggers into those that got in his way of the planet fall pods.

Rick made it down the hall, and to the lower belly of the ship, opening the pitch black door, and seeing all the familiar warning labels on it, 'make sure air tight before launch', 'wear harness properly', and last but not least, 'do not use this pod if you aren't qualified'.

Rick scoffed and sealed the door, shutting it tight and then locking it closed, he hit the release and felt the sudden drop in the pod, sending him up to the roof as he pulled away from the artificial gravity of the ship, and hung in the harness in 0 g for about 7 seconds, then he hit the planet's gravity and was pulled down towards the bottom, only to be pushed back up to the top when he started to free fall into the planet. He then felt the shoot flare out and his speed drop, still landing on the ground with a hard thud, he made strong contact and stopped, the explosive bolts blowing and sending the hatch flying off.

Then, there was the true irony, the ship in front of him was Confederation, and he had just landed right smack outside the loading ramp to it, where to his horror, and slight rejoice, his love was being dragged up the ramp in chains. He cried out and brought his gun to bare, shooting the first couple in the head, and leaving a giant bloody mess behind them.

But, his valiant effort was for not, when they got her all the way aboard the ship, and sealed the ramp, he screamed out in frustration and lunged forward, putting a tracer on the ship, and then falling face first into the muck on the ground, staying there in the wet mud to keep the thruster lift off from cooking him.
