THE UNINTENDED CURSE

Ch. 19

(Present)

"After that point it was only a matter of time before I was able to convince the others of my intent," said the Lord down to the younger/sister elf.

"And just how were you able to convince them that you were not just trying to mislead them in some way to gain their trust," asked the elder sister elf which the younger elf nodded her agreement. This got the Lord to smile at the two of them, only to lose said smile as it looked like something began to happen to his throat.

At first the occurrence just looked to be as if the Lord was trying to gurgle something, but that action only grew to make it appear as if something within the Lord's throat were to be pushing at it from several different internal angles. Finally the actions/movements within the throat began to lessen and finally come to a stop as he slowly opened his mouth to reveal a white like substance there in his mouth. At first the younger elf thought it to be some kind of piece of un-cooked white dough, but upon looking at it for a while she recognized it as something she was almost too familiar with.

"You showed them a piece of the real you, the Blob Monster that has taken over the Lord's mind and body," said the elder sister elf in which the younger couldn't help but shiver at the mention of the disgusting thing that not only was in that of the Lord's body but also that of hers.

The Lord closed his mouth, swallowed, then gave the elder sister elf a nod in which he turned and motioned with a wave of his hand towards the group of assorted elves as well as a few other races that made up the group as well. "There were quite a few races within the cells as well, probably used for some other means that I do not want to even think about, but with the Lords body and his ways of dealing with those he found to displease him, I was able to get them all out."

"Do not forget what you promised us," a voice shouted from somewhere within the crowd which was quickly followed by many other voices that either voiced the same or other things that made the elder sister elf quickly kneel down and clap her hands over the younger sister elf's ears.

"I know...I know," shouted the Lord after he'd turned and looked over his shoulder to address whomever it was that'd shouted a moment before. "I just have one last thing to do before I leave the Lord to your whims!" In which the elder sister elf removed her hands over her younger sisters ears, stood upright again, and gave the Lord a curious expression. "I made a few promises when freeing the captives that I intend to keep, but before I do so...," he trailed off as he passed the two and stood before the other human sitting upon the fallen trees trunk.

"I take it that you wrapped up things at the Lord's manner." The Lord gave a sly grin to the human who remained sitting, and after a few moments extended his hand to clasp hands with the Lord's. There was only a pause for a few moments as the two remained frozen, their hands clasped, before the Lord's body began to shake and shiver. A few seconds later the Lord's shaking began to ease, then finally stopped, however he didn't seem to be in complete control of himself as a second after the shaking did the Lord suddenly fall in on himself and collapsed upon the ground. The human seemed to nod to himself in some kind of self-acknowledgement as if pleased with something happening the way it should, then turned over his hand to show a large lump of white in the center of his palm.

The sisters looked from the human sitting upon the log to that of the crumpled form of the Lord upon the ground and then back up to the human who lifted the white substance to his mouth. "Is that what I think it is," asked the younger sister elf to which the human ate down the white glob and smile at her.

"Now, everything the Lord knew, I now know," he said with a nod as he slowly stood up from his seat, walking over to the large group that stood just a few paces away, then slowly looked over the group. He seemed to be taking his time as he looked them over, as if checking for something, seeming satisfied or not finding anything out of the ordinary he nodded. "I want to thank you all for trusting my word and coming all this way."

The younger sister elf looked up to her sister and saw that she was staring at the human and noticed that she had a curious expression upon her face. 'I am glad that I am not the only one confused to know what the human is up to this time,' she thought then turned her attention back to the human.

"And as I have promised you all," he said as he walked back to the Lord still laying on the ground, grabbed him up by his pants and shirt collar, then threw him bodily to land at the feet of the group, "have at him."

The little sister elf's expression turned from one of confusion to that of fear when she saw that the group that stood a short distance off had changed from one of idle anticipation to that of eager malice. The change was one that she'd never knew that someone or a group of somethings could change so quickly. As an unintended movement she took a half step back and would have bolted in the opposite direction, but was stopped when she felt a gentle hand being placed upon her shoulder. She followed the soft hand up the arm to see whose hand it belonged to she found it to be that of her sister, so she gave her sister a pleading look of worry before she heard the sound of something moving in front of her. Turning to see what had moved she saw that it was the group of races had moved on the Lord, and they didn't stop until they had fully encircled him.

Through the hoard of different creatures, the younger sister elf could see that the Lord had regained consciousness; but upon looking around him, his mouth slowly dropped open, and he began to tremble. It seemed that he was slowly realizing the situation and the predicament that he was in, but the more time passed the worse he seemed to get. The Lord's whole body began to break out in beads of sweat, his face lost a lot of color, and he began to look about frantically.

That was pretty much all that she saw as a second later the human stepped before her, placed his hands upon her shoulders, then promptly turned her away from the group that'd now fully blocked out any kind of view within their encirclement. "This is something that a youth shouldn't see," he said simply in which she looked over her shoulders up at the human and could see he had a bit of a sad/guilty look upon his face. The look could have been from a great number of reasons but she believed that it was something that he'd witnessed somewhere/sometime and was greatly troubled by the memory of whatever had happened.

"Then why are you looking," she asked once she saw the human turned towards the mob, and had was then like a statue? "If you can stand to see what happens to the Lord, then why not I look on as well," she said but upon trying to turn around she found she could not as her sister had placed her hands upon her shoulders and knelt down in front of her. At first she didn't understand why her sister was preventing her from turning to face the human, but when she saw her sisters face she suddenly froze up.

"I have to make sure that when this is over, it is over for good," was the voice that came from behind her and when she looked up to her sister she saw that she had lowered her head and was gazing upon the ground. "But if you wonder why I can look upon this without worry, it is due to the fact that 'I' have seen and done things that are far worse than what this mob is about to do to that Lord." This confused the younger sister elf for a time until she remembered once more that the human was not talking about what a Human could do to another Human, but what a Blob Monster could do to someone. Just the thought of what a blob monster could do was something that threatened to make her ill.

"If he says that he's done and seen worse things done to others, then..." her whole body began to shake and shiver until she felt her sister's hand gently rub her shoulder, which seemed to have a calming effect and within a few moments she felt the coldness within her start to abate.

"Though I may have lost track of how long I have been this way, I haven't been idle. In the time I have been like this, I have learned what it is and means to be that of a blob monster and being that of a blob monster I have learned that not only can I do some frightening things, but also that of beneficial," he said in which the younger sister elf thought of him reading her mind. "It looks like things will start to get rough, so...," if anything else was said it was lost to her as if all sound was cut off. This confused her for a second but when she looked up to her elder sister she saw her nod to her.

'I guess she must have cast some kind of Silence magic over my ears,' she thought as she recalled a few times her sister had done so in order to give her a restful night's sleep when the other members of dungeon/cells were being to rowdy or when her sister had said that the Lord was doing things to the other people around their cell. 'I do not know what those things were, but if my sister has done so then she must have had a really good reason, especially when doing so was draining her remaining magic to near depletion.'
