Nescas death

She laughed loud and clear, that hearty laugh which was musical and monstrous and sounded all the more like the baying wolf for it. Her eyes sparkled with a love and joy that was never hers and despair mixed with beauty upon her scarred and majestic face. Her fangs slid out of her mouth in a demonic smile and her dark hair covered the side of her face like the night that fell around them.

"So as I stand here with you, my lover, my killer, I shall pass into eternity. I do not believe death will free me from your misguided spell but hopefully it will take from you the pain of which cannot be yours." blood, the red jewel of life bubbled at her lips.

"That pain is my gift, it seems and my burden which I will gladly carry for you." Her hand reached out and brushed the side of his face, flecks of blood from her finger tips smudging his pale white complexion. She wiped away a single tear from his face with her thumb and drew in a long shuddering breath.

"Do not cry for me. It was never your fault. It was mine and mine alone and I shall take this pain and this love I see from you and cherish it in my dance within the flames of hell." Her eyes grew sad and her mouth grimaced with pain both physical and emotional.

"I love you my darling. I never regretted loving you. Not once even though in that love I have been dealt a killing blow." Tears run down the sides of her face and her voice broke.

"My one regret is that you could not love me as I loved you." she smiled her sad smile once and blinked, the sparkle disappearing from her mischievous emerald green eyes. Her lover laid her down gently and closed her eyes with a movement etched with grief. He sat bent over her body, taking her fast cooling hand in his.

"Ah the irony sweet one. I loved you fully and completely. But you never once believed me so I thought for the best I would hide it. And now in your death I can confess this which I have held in my heart." he leaned forward and brushed his lips against hers whispering.

"I could not have loved you as you loved me. I loved you more."

When I wrote that Nesca was a werewolf doomed to love the very bounty hunter that was made to hunt her down.

Rejected

A shadowed figure could be seen atop the rooftops. She crouched there watching and waiting. Her long curly hair waved in the cool breeze, the dark strands moving in front of her eyes. She brushed it behind one ear and blinked once with her large green emerald eyes. Her blood red lips frowned sadly as she turned her head slightly, thinking. Her chest fell heavily as she fought back tears. She looked up at the clear night sky, blinking rapidly to keep her eyes clear.

The stars twinkled overhead, winking with an ethereal light. They floated above and around the earth, unknowing, uncaring of the misery that went on around below them. They wheeled and turned in their eternal dance of light and beauty, stepping with the beat of life. The moon moved in time with them, its step slower. It moved across the sky, bathing the world in light whilst the people lived in perpetual darkness. It shone Large and full this night of nights.

And she watched it from her perch. Her hair came out behind her ear and once again tickled her face and neck. She lowered her eyes and looked straight ahead, allowing a slight shiver run through her naked body. Thoughts, questions and memories chased each other around her head. In her chest her heart beat. Its beat combining with the beat of the stars that danced above. Her body swayed with the moon and from her lips bubbled a sob. She fought it back and closed her eyes, bending her head as she remembered her shame; her guilt. Her shoulders slumped as she gave in and let the grief run through her. A single tear run over her cheek, tracing her scar down to the bottom of her chin where it dropped the many stories to the ground. She let the tears run free falling like rain from her onto the people below. As each person was touched, they were hit by such an immense wave of sorrow and guilt they fell to the ground . The people crowded around below, watching complete strangers scream out for mercy from the gods. They watched as the affected bystanders sobbed and writhed in agony. They witnessed a woman cry so hard she started to choke, unable to draw breath. Cries for loved ones gone or guilt's long suppressed were heard. Even the ones that were not touched by her tears fell to their knees and looked up asking the sky for answers.

Above she watched, her shoulders shaking and her eyes red and swollen. She looked once more and took in the sky one last time. She breathed in the scent of the night, the smell of her tears. She rubbed her arms, feeling for the last time her own skin. She listened to the beat of her heart and the beat of life that throbbed around her.

Beat, beat.

She breathed out and hiccupped slightly.

Beat, beat.

She placed her toes over the edge of the building. Below the bystanders finally see her.

Beat, beat.

Her heart calls to her, begging her to reconsider. She closes her eyes and throws her head back, her hair flicking her neck and face. It traces down the curve of her shoulders onto her back, swaying from side to side.

Beat, beat.

She waits for a moment longer.

Nothing, no one. No one was coming to rescue her.

Beat, beat.

So be it.

Beat, beat.

"I'm sorry" she whispered to nobody. She spread her arms wide and fell forward.

"NO!!"
